This has to be one of the most addictive games I have played in a long time. You will find yourself trying to get the gold medals in all events in just 30 minutes. But, every good game has to have some negatives, right? Kind of... not...Gameplay --> 9.6/10 The game's events are either controlled soley with the stylus, the buttons, or an intelligent mix of both. The trampoline event, for instance, will have you drawing either a straight line up, a right angled line or tapping the screen three times. Sounds simple? Not when you're on a strict time limit and there are fifteen commands to put in.Graphics --> 9.4/10 This has to be as good as it gets for the Nintendo DS.Perfect cell-shaded characters mean a lot of fun with the visuals. There's nothing like seeing fully rendered Mario and Sonic characters racing each other in the 100m dash.Audio --> 9.7/10 This was so close to a 10, but after playing it again to make sure I get this review balanced, i noticed that the music is a little repetitive. You really notice it when you actually focus on it, but you don't really, so it's not much of a problem.Multiplayer --> 9.9/10 Very good, and there is the option to play with a friend who does not have the game ("DS Download Play"), so props for that.Replay Value --> 10/10 As I said above, you will try so hard to get the gold medals that you will be playing events over and over again until you get them. There are also the challenges (5 for each character, plus a secret 6th) that do not need to be completed, but you get a lot of satisfaction out of seeing a character have a full circle of stars in his stats screen at the character selection.Overall --> 9.8/10 (5 stars) Nothing else to say, only it's addictive and, most importantly, fun. Well worth the money.

My 4-year-old just got a DSi for his birthday and he's having so much fun with this particular game it's well worth it's price. In fact I must confess that I've also racked up a fair amount of play time on this one, too!For older fans, the ability to have Sonic vs Mario is something you probably loved the idea of when you were growing up, I know I did back then. This is the first game to do exactly that. Also, the events are much more fun than I first anticipated. Using the 'pen' rather than button bashing (those who remember games like 'Track & Field' will get me, here) is actually far more enjoyable and I was not expecting that at all. It makes the gameplay feel a lot smoother, there is a good selection of events here as well. The records feature is pretty neat as it allows for a little 'in-house' competition, most notably here between myself and my 4-year-old son, and I won't shame myself here by telling you who's winning that one... kids...This is a great game, what looked like just a gimmick to get Sonic and Mario hooked up for the first time has actually proved to be a very playable game and one we'll be looking out for at the next Olympics.

This software is what you expect from the Mario franchise. Superb graphics, great sound and utterly playable. How they fit so much of a game into a little cartridge is amazing! This was thoughtfully designed to take advantage of all the DS's features. The graphics are bright and colourful, the controls work well - left or right handed and overall the game hooks you in as you strive to better your scores. The game unfolds as you complete levels, so this enhances the playability and the life of the game.Connecting with download play is so easy and allows you to play with a friends. Find someone with another cartridge and you can play all the games (in download only some games can be played - but still good fun). You can upload your scores using WiFi - this seems boring, but is actually really well done. Once you upload it shows you how you rank in the world (expect 15600-18000 at first!) and the top scores. I find some of te number one scores hard to believe - 7.5 seconds for the 100m!!!! No way...All in all a great game, with lots of Marion type fun. I cant knock it at all - get it...!

I remember being young and having Daley Thompson's Decathalon for my ZX Spectrum (over twenty years ago) - which largely required hammering alternate keys very quickly to race ahead. So, I approached this game with some trepidation - would it be more of the same?Thankfully, the answer is no. Sega have used the technology of the DS to make the games varied and engaging; whilst there is inevitably some slight repetition the context is different in each case. For example, the buttons are used for various functions, the touch screen allows you to waggle the stylus back and forth to run, to aim a jump or arrow, the microphone allows you to clap and encourage a long jump. Unlike some other sports games of recent years, this also goes a lot wider than track and field; archery and swimming are favourites of ours. Recommended!(And for those of you Nintendo fanboys who also have a Wii, yes, it is worth getting both games - each takes advantage of the different platform, and has a different range of events)

Our 4-year old son, who is a whizz at Super Mario Land on the DS, picked this for his birthday having seen the adverts on tv. although he enjoyed playing it, some of the games are a bit tricky for him to remember which controls to use, and he was swapping between the games all the time.My other half was a bit dismissive when we came home with it as one of his mates had told him the game wasn't up to much, but after we had put the child to bed we spent a good few hours together playing it and he couldn't put it down!! some of the games are quite hard to win and the missions are really challenging, requiring you to finish under certain conditions. I was slightly disapointed with the mini-games though,as the ones on Mario Land are excellent.Overall, great fun, but a bit tricky for little ones..

I own quite a few of the mario games on ds and I always enjoy all of them. This game is particularly good because there is lots of different things to play on and modes You can play individual events, go through the mission option where you play different characters from mario, e.g. bowser and luigi and complete set tasks for example completing a race in a certain time. There is also the circuit mode where you have to complete a set circuit of different events like 100m, archery and long jump in order to unlock other events.Once you have unlocked the normal events, you unlock the dream events - dream boxing, fencing, race, shooting, long jump and basketball which are all really fun and original. The game is very addictive and I recommend it to all :)

This was one of the first games I got for my DS and I wasn't at all disappointed. Excellent characters and great playability. The use of the touch screen, with the buttons and also bringing the microphone into play is mint and every event has different controls. The game is also great played via download, competing on the long jump when you're all clapping before the start, or rubbing the screen like a manic on the sprints really has us all in stitches!Only one small critism is that it can get a bit repetitive when you're on trying to get gold for every character, but this is only after a lot of play an shouldn't put anyone off buying. This game really highlights the capabilities of the DS.

Mario and Sonic is the best DS game I have because it's graphics are bright and colorful and the controls are amazing! You use every single function the DS has and they all make sense. There are 24 events (more that the wii game)and they are all fun and challenging. The sound is amazing, catchy and so addictive. You can chose up to 16 characters. Once you unlock all the events you can work on circuit or mission mode. You can play with friends up to 4 players with 1 game card but only some of the events are available but still good fun. It's such a good game. It is way better than the wii game. Just get it and I promise you you'll love it!

Just brilliant. Another amazing game with the lovely Mario (plus Sonic and characters from both games!)As with all the Mario games, this game is packed with millions of mini games and levels to unlock. Everytime you play it you want to beat the previous score which means you never put it down!! This game has entertained me for hours, trampolining, throwing the javelin...The multiplayer version is good, although it has 8 events for you to choose from, it is a shame that you cant play more of the events that are on the single player verson (table tennis, etc)But overall, an absolute must!! Well worth the money!!

As with all Mario games they are well constructed and contain a lot of elements. There are a variety of events to play, from 100M, 400M Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Hammer, Javelin to Diving, Vault, Archery, Fencing, Shooting, and Table Tennis. Also in the Dream games section there are a range of disciples with a bit of added fun. The controls are fairly easy to pick up although I am struggling with landing in the sand on the triple jump option (I think that may just be me though!). Lots of fun for all ages (I'm in my 30s. I would thoroughly recommend it.

I knew Mario & Sonic Olympic Games would be excellent for the DS too. There are 16 charaters to choose from which have different abilities. I have been playing this game non-stop the graphics and gameplay are some of the best yet on the DS. There are 16 different events to choose from which include 100m/400m, Long Jump, Hammer Throw, Archery and many more. Up to four people can play and it is mad fun against a friend. I like being Mario best as he is a good all-round character to be. This is one of the best DS games out full stop.

As always with anything I buy from Amazon, this was no exception. It arrived, speedily, well packaged and in excellent condition. My 6 year old daughter could not be spoken to whilst playing it as it occupied her full and complete attention. Thanks to Amazon my daughter continues to be able to save on the cost of her nintendo games bought with her own saved up pocket money and receives excellent value for it.

As the menu comes up, you get to choose what olympic game you'd like to play eg- Fencing, Running, Long Jump and many more. Firstly, it'll tell you how to play and them and you simply play them. You get to pick the character you want and each one will have a different amount of eg- Strength.Overall it is a very good game and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the other Mario games.

28.7.2009

This game is good and quite addictive but no way as good as on wii. There are some newgame like basket ball though that aren't on wii.You use the stylus to touch slide and tap your way to a bronze, silver or even a gold medal. All your favourite characters are there as this is the first time Mario and Sonic join forces to create the ultimate team!Great graphics and music too.****
