Duncurin has been reviewing these wonderful trekking shoes courtesy of Salomon and Vine. Any skier will tell you then when you are on the slopes and you are kitted out with this well known and trusted brand then you are in good and safe company – whether it’s a jacket when the snow blows a little harder, or ski boots as the slope falls away – whatever nature and the mountain throws at you then you’ll be glad you chose Salomon rather than other lesser brands. More than this, when we are having our skis fitted and my wife and I put our Salomon ski boots up on the counter they look fabulous and a perfect accompaniment to a quality pair of skis.Of course no snow required for these shoes.

For trekking shoes (which I'm assuming is the same as walking/hiking shoes?), these are surprisingly and pleasantly lightweight. I usually wear Karrimor walking shoes, which are significantly heavier, but they give me a good fit so I've stuck with them for the last decade+. It's also tough for me to be able to get half-sizes so I pounced on these ones, which I got offered in 6.5, my actual size.They are stylish and well-made out of high-quality material. Large parts of the upper are made from a breathable mesh, which keeps my feet from overheating. I should not that these would not be watertight in wet weather due to the panels!They slip on easily and the fit is mostly comfortable,

I ordered these for my wife as I have a pair of salmon walking boots and they are the comfiest and most stylish walking shoes I've ever had.These are a trainer style, non ankle supporting style walking shoes but the build quality, light weight yet sturdiness is just as impressive.For a very practical walking style shoe they are really stylish, a great crossover option for a walk/pub meal combined trip. Every element is quality in build and feel from the sturdy grippy heel to the tough laces. Yet they are a really attractive blue and grey design that do not seem clunky and do not look like obvious functional walking shoes.They are super comfy to walk in and whilst hot waterproof to the extent

A review for Salomon Women's ELLIPSE MEHARI, Trekking Shoes, Crown Blue/Evening Blue/Canal Blue, Size 7.5.Having owned several pairs of this brand in the past I know just what a well made shoe these are. The footwear has a nice chunky grip allowing good traction on slippy, loose or uneven terrain. The shoe is waterproof (not Goretex). Traditional lace up design ensures a secure fit, a loop at the rear allows you to pull these on more easily. These are trekking / hiking / walking shoes and not mountain shoes. With a reenforced toe and heel guard and breathable mesh design these are great comfortable, lightweight walking shoes. Overall well made, waterproof, lightweight. Good as a general walking shoe,

I've been meaning to buy some trekking shoes for a while. I can't help but compare them a little to my running trainers, they are lighter and feel less padded and thinner, but I've worn them out a lot for long walks and all weekend camping and they've been very comfortable.They also look good on, the blue is subtle and blends in when worn with jeans which I like.I'm always a size EU 40 in shoes so got that size in these, strangely I have found on my right foot they are a little tight on length, which may be an oddity of my foot, but they might also be a little mean on the length.I haven't tried them in muddy conditions yet so can't comment on the grip.

Our daughter takes a size 5 and these are a 5.5 and the extra little bit made these perfect. Good looking trainers that feel comfortable whilst being supportive are not easy to find, and whilst these fit the bill in the looks department, I thought they wouldn't be as supportive on the ankle as they might - however, I was wrong. According to our daughter these are one of the best pair of trainers she has ever owned. As her job requires a lot of walking these are perfect.Yes I do think they might be a little undersized, so add a half size to your normal one and hopefully you will get a pair that fit perfectly. Highly recommended.

These trekking shoes are lighter than typical trainers, and have significant areas of surface that are just a thin mesh; this provides excellent ventilation as well as keeping the weight down. They won't be able to match open trekking sandals for summer coolness, but they are more supportive than sandals, and provide much better protection on stony, wet or thorny ground. The sole is soft and grippy (much more so than the hard rubber on my leather Brasher boots) so gives confidence you won't slip on wet rock. My wife says the fit is exactly to size, when worn with thin cotton socks. Recommended.

I was looking for a lightweight and kind of classical looking shoe that was also capable to go through a rough terrain. And specially, one that could go well in the summer high temperatures. Well, I think I got it right. I already walked with them with 35ºC, and my feet didn't melted with the heath - as sometimes they do with more cold/water resistant prepared shoes. They do have a somewhat tight fit in the heel area, but after some days of walking with them, they absorbed the shape of my feet. Nice buying.

Review by my sister:These shoes replaced some Karrimor shoes which I was unhappy with.The fit is appropriate as stated. They’re well made, light and comfortably supportive with no foot movement within the shoe. The soles have an excellent grip especially on damp/ wet surfaces although the uppers are in no way waterproof but the lightweight fabric panels give excellent foot breathability in warm conditions.They're priced right giving good value for money. I would definitely buy again.

I've worn these every day since they arrived and I'm loving them. Really nice looking trainers and seem very well made and they're so comfy. I've had another pair of Salomon for a couple of years and they're starting to show their age a bit now but are still really good condition and comfortable. Partly due to looking after them but a lot of it is down to the fact that they're well made. Can't complain with these new ones and I'll hope they last as long as my other pair.

Another review mentioned they come up a little small. Well that is correct I am a UK size 4 1/2 to 5, and these were 5 1/2 and fitted perfectly (just a thumbs width between my toes and the end). They are comfortable trainers.The one thing to beware of is to remember they have mesh sides so won’t keep your feet dry in the wet. This is not obvious from looking at them, so could be something you forget. The mesh sides should help ventilate your feet on hot days.

With a blue material outer, punctuated with white and black, these trekking shoes make a bold style statement. Styled more like trainers, they exude a casual look perfect for ending up at the pub at the end of your hike. They are not waterproof, but water-resistant enough to withstand light showers. They are padded and the soles provide excellent support and grip on rugged terrain. They are breathable yet keep feet comfortable and warm. Ideal!

These are really nice breathable trainers with some really great grips on. They are well made and will keep you steady in all sorts of terrain.I took a star off because they could be made more comfortable (I am used to wearing Sketchers), also I dislike how all shoes out there cripple your toes even if just slightly. These are my perfect size but I found my toes pressing up against the sides a bit too snugly for my liking.

I am a UK 6 and took a chance that - as quoted - they would be small fitting however they are too bit for me but my sister in law who is a 7 finds them “extremely comfortable and they do the job” very sturdily well made and great for trekking and walking . Washable and will be very durable . Nice modern design and goes with a lot of colours.

Nice thing such a summer hiking boot. Good breathable, tight fit. Unfortunately, my toe (only one side) pushes at every step to the cap seam, so I send the shoe back again. Too bad. For narrow feet it is too big / wide in the front area. But do not knock it 'till you try it!"
