I bought this as a present for my husbands birthday. I was supposed to buy a token gift only, despite this he had a huge grin on his face after opening. He had been after a bean to cup machine for a while.I was worried after seeing a few negative reviews on here, sat and went through videos on another popular platform to make sure I was buying something that was totally naff. It's really not though. Hubby was eager to get everything up and running so he could enjoy his coffee.Pre-clean:We ran through filtered water through twice before using. I was super worried about a plastic taste that a few on here complained about but its not something we have experienced at all.Coffee grinds:No its not a super fine grind. Not as fine as what you would buy pre ground but it gives off an amazing flavour. We have used Grumpy Mule coffee (columbian and sumatra) as well as Costa beans and they were stunning. Not so keen on Taylors but that's personal taste, not a reflection on the machine (I wasn't keen on the smell of the beans either). We have a cafetiere and this produces much less sediment than that does. We just add half a cup more water so your not putting every last drop into your cup. That said I think there level of sediment is excellent. Not perfect but what can you expect for a £60 machine?Brew time:Depends on what settings you have but it's quite fast.Coffee temperature:Yes it's cooler than if it comes out of a kettle, but again not much dofferent to any other filter coffee machine I've encountered. Warming cups up may be a good idea if you like it super hot. I quite like it just hot though (and not really hot) as it means I can enjoy streight away. We have 4 small children and often get sidetracked so coffee immediately is good. This leads onto the keep warm plate. I've used this one one occasion and it keeps it hot. Had to stop there 20 minutes as I was tending to putting one of the little ones to bed and it was still very hot. I don't think it needs longer than 40 minutes really.Cleaning:Super easy. Filter basket, bucket below, cap above and the jug (which also seperate into two parts) no rogue grinds within the machine. Contained to the basket and the cap which are easily rinsed. Really doesn't take long to clean at all.All in all its an excellent machine. I'm no coffee expert, though I was picky with instant coffee (I only really like one or two types) but even I'm now picking up notes and flavours/tones within different beans.Husband is really happy with it and he hasn't used the kettle in 4 days now. He's looking forward to using the timer function when he is back at work. It has been tested but not overnight and does work perfectly. This is a really good budget bean to cup machine. Absolutely no complaints here.

Got this item today fast delivery (5 days earlier than said) but had a few issues. Firstly the plastic, factory taste. I flushed, rinsed and washed the machine all in accordance with the first time use instructions, then waited about an hour. After this i attempted to make a pot of whole bean coffee, the machine itself is reasonably quiet and isn't to hard to use, even with the crap instructions. Although rather disappointed in the efficiency of the grinder it seems to waste a good portion of the bean, ive had a hopper with half whole beans un-grinded. However, after it started brewing which takes about 2-3 min (4 cups) i could immediately smell plastic,i was hoping it was just the smell but i could taste it quite strongly aswell. I had read some reviews before purchasing and had seen other people with simmilar problems, so I presumed the taste wasn't going to go away. I then re - washed and rinsed several times, and could still taste it. A day went by, i washed again in hot soapy water in a ditch attempted not to send it back, and that seemed to do the trick and took most of the plastic taste away. And now 3 days on, the taste has most definitely depleted, I have also used the 'coffee later' function with success. I will say when setting a alarm pay attention to the and PM time displays since its only a 12 hour clock. I made this mistake by having my current time in AM not PM so the alarm time didn't match. Ultimately you get what you pay for, don't expect high end functionality, but it can make decent coffee, In the end.

We have been using this machine for over a week now and have found it to be excellent. We wanted a bean to cup machine that would do the basics. This machine grinds the beans and then makes a glass jug of coffee and keeps it hot for around 40minutes before switching off. You can also use ground coffee instead of beans which we like the idea of. We ordered a 1kg bag of beans to get started and then followed that up with a 1kg bag of decaf beans. There are loads of coffee bean packs you can order. The machine is straightforward to use but read the instructions first. Also do not forget to register the machine and get the extra years guarantee. We bought this on an offer price so for what we paid we have a very good machine.Even the full price is reasonable for the machine. The machine casing is a thick plastic which does have some stretch in it so do make sure that it is all clipped together on delivery. The whole thing was very well packed and taped up inside the box.Cleaning the grinder is easy but you need a small brush to remove the used beans from the lid part of the grinder unit. We got a pastry brush for the job but you could use a new unused half inch paint brush if you wanted to.The glass jug is quite sturdy and you can obtain a replacement from a number of outlets. The same applies to the grinder fitting. We had forgotten just how good freshly made coffee at home can be and so this machine is going to get plenty of use.

This little fella was bought to replace a Vonshef espresso machine that stopped working after only 13 months (there's a warning for you all). I used espresso as the base for all my coffees, but my wife decided this time she wanted a timer function and a carafe to hold more coffee.I can't stress enough how easy this machine is to use. Pop in the amount of water needed, spoon in the beans or grinds and off you go. To be honest, I don't usually use the built in grinder as I have a separate electric grinder, but on the odd occasion I've used it it does a perfectly fine job.The timer is great for my wife who can wake up to freshly brewed coffee in a morning, and the coffee strength setting works just nicely. We have it set to max strength with strong tasting beans, and neither us nor anyone else has been anything but impressed with the coffee from this machine.I'm not sure what the people complaining about the taste are trying to say... buy different beans then, or change the strength setting, or use pre-ground coffee. It's not rocket science.Only fly in the ointment is it takes slightly longer to clean this than just change a filter. But I don't really care.`

I love this all in one fresh bean to coffee machine from Russell Hobbs, the model that I have is the 22000 Chester in stainless steel and black which looks very smart and suits just about any kitchen decor, unlike some machines and I read the reviews on many before making my purchase it sends the coffee into the cup and not all over the work surface it is easy to load also to empty and to keep clean. Does the job perfectly and beats some far more expensive well known products hands down in my opinion.Of course Russel Hobbs is a well known company and has a long and trusted name especially in the kitchen range of electrical appliances,I am in the 60 plus age range and my mother owned a Russell Hobs coffee percolator in chrome and black which still worked in 2016 she bought it in 1962. I have had many of their products over the years and always been happy, so I had no qualms in purchasing the 22000 Chester and no regrets either I would recommend this as a good reasonably priced machine which looks smart as well.Read full review...

I previously owned a DeLonghi bean to cup coffee machine which cost around £450. I needed a replacement, but didn’t want to pay that sort of money again, so when I saw this for £65, I had to have it! Yes, it doesn’t have a milk frother, but I never used that anyway. I can still use beans, and the aroma is just as good as before when they’re being ground. Any machine will never produce boiling hot coffee of course, but the coffee from this is plenty hot enough for me, and compares favourably with the DeLonghi. I like the fact that when you clean the filter, the filter holder, and the carafe , you are cleaning every part that comes into contact with the coffee - the Deloghi is much more complex, and you’re never able to get to every part to clean it. So, to summarise, I’m delighted with it!!

I only received this yesterday and have only used it twice but so far I'm really impressed. After reading some of the reviews I was a little worried but I had no reason to be. After running just water through the machine first as instructed I had no plastic taste in my first brew. It was simple to use and I found cleaning the coffee out of the filter was easy by running it under a fast stream of hot water. Was fairly quick to brew. I like that you can make as many cups as you need (12 being the maximum and 2 being the lowest). The only downside is if you need the grinder it is very noisy but my coffee was already ground so I simply turned the grinder off.Problem solved but if you need it to grind coffee beans you will have a lot of noise. All in all a great buy for a great price.

I have only two complaints that keep this from being the best coffee maker on the market; i.e., the warming plate only lasts a maximum of 45 min. Our old coffee maker kept the coffee hot for 3 hours & I miss that. I looked at a lot of coffee makers before I settled on this one & I could not find one new machine that lasted longer than 30-45 min. So, this may be due to new legal requirements rather than customer demands. The second complaint is there is no buzzer or timer that goes off when the coffee is ready. Other than those two things, the coffee brewed in this machine is the best we've had & a real upside is that we are using less coffee than we used before. The quality is definitely better!!

Was looking for a bean to cup machine, was shocked by how much you could pay for one. Checked out reviews and this little thing kept popping up. Could something this price really deliver ? Yep! made up with it. It does everything it says it's going to. smart money, smart machine. The only thing i'd like to change would be the plate warmer. 40 minutes and it switches itself off. I understand the coffee can start tasting bitter when it's get warm for a long period but it'd be nice if it kept warm for an hour. I'm still going to give it 10/10. Big thanks to Russell Hobbs for a great machine and big thanks to all those that left the reviews that pointed me in this direction.

I bought my original 22000 over a year ago, it lasted one brew. Russel Hobbs were unable to help with the issue I had and duly sent out another one. Great quiet coffee on demand, but here nearly a year later and I have the same problem. The permanent coffee filter has a small movable black piece of plastic which enables the water to filter through. Mine has broken, consequently the machine just flashes at me and does nothing else, which is a shame as I was absolutely delighted with the resulting coffee. I will however be replacing the filter for more delicious coffee. Perhaps a more robust stopper might be in the product design department.....fingers crossed.

My wife snd I enjoy one coffee a day as mainly tea drinkers. We like pure quality coffee, unadulterated by milk, cream or anything else. This serves up to 12 cups and serves it and keeps it at ideal temperature - unlike many machines. You dial up the grinding of sufficient beans for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 cups, or no grinding if you use pre-ground coffee. We bought it at a huge discount and to replace its predecessor which had lasted nine years. You can easily vary the strength with a single button press from normal to stronger to much stronger, the process keeping the water in contact with the ground coffee for slightly longer. Great piece of kit.

My previous coffee machine died on me after sterling service of about 15 years I have a bean to cup expresso machine and wanted a similar filter coffee machine so started looking for one and saw this one in the catalogue and thought I would try it out as it was as it is decently priced So got it out of the box and tried it out and to be honest was definitely impressed it makes an excellent cup of coffee I use lavazza beans with both machines now and get decent cups of coffee from both machines I have to admit I like my cuppa strong and black and the machine does this without a problem I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys coffee

8.7.2020

For the price there's not anything to really dislike. Did some research before settling on this machine and the main factor was the ability to make 12 cups. As many other reviews state, cup measurements relate to espresso cups, not mugs, and the ability to make more than 1 mug-full of coffee at a time is a must for me. The timer function is great, can wake up to fresh coffee every morning (make sure you read the instructions start to finish because part of the process is under a separate heading!) and it's easy to clean. The grind function is good, albeit a bit messier to clean up afterward. Probably my best purchase during lockdown!

This is an excellent product and a bargain price. I didn't expect it to be so good at the price on here. Curry's are selling it for over twice as much. The coffee is excellent, no matter if you use whole beans or ground. Every use gives a delicious aroma & you know that another perfect pot is ready. If I had any complaint , it would be that I find it hard now to restrict or limit my daily cups. I used to limit myself to 3 cups a day but more will power is needed as this makes the best coffee compared to my previous methods, which included a cafetiere, percolator and a cheaper coffee machine.

1.8.2017

No instructions were included with the machine, but they were easily obtained from Russell Hobbs website. The machine itself is easy to use and clean. Some experimentation is required to obtain the coffee taste and strength that you like. I like the simplicity of use. Just put in the beans (to your taste) put in the water and set the machine to run (again to your tastes). Minutes later you have a delicious cup of coffee as you like it. Once you've mastered the amount of beans you like and the setting to give you your desired taste you won't go back to buying ground coffee again.
