Nice, modern-looking machine that sits neatly in the kitchen. Makes a perfectly competent cup of coffee, so in that it’s fine. It’s got a blue-lit clock, useful, and a timer - again useful if you know when you’ll next want your freshly made coffee. It keeps your coffee hot for 25 minutes after the coffee is finished, and gives you a countdown on this. It has a strength setting - I have no idea what it does to make a stronger or weaker brew, and if you only make between 1 and 4 cups, then it sets the strength itself. But…* It’s all black, so in poor light , or if you’ve got the machine to the back of the worktop, aiming for the water container, which is sort of integrated around the coffee filter hopper,is difficult. I shot a jug full straight through onto the worktop first time I used it. There’s an “internal ladder” inside the reservoir to indicate how much water has gone in, but unless you’re directly above, and the light is good, this is hard to see. One of those transparent side bars that lots of kettles have would be useful - but not so sexy to look at!* It’s a bit slow - 7 minutes to make about .5 litre by our timing - far more time than it takes to make a filter coffee the usual way, and the coffee isn’t noticeably different;* The permanent filter may be environmentally sound, but it’s a right pain to clean if you don’t use paper liners, and there are none provided with the machine. We found a quarter square of kitchen paper works ok, in that you can shoot the used coffee out into the compost, instead of down the drain (my plumber says coffee grounds are one of the worst culprits for blocking drains).* None of the removable components are dishwasher safe, which is a real shame.* When you’ve loaded the water and coffee, and switched it on, there’s nothing saying “Brewing”, or “Ready in 5 minutes”, so other than the back light becoming bluer, theres’s nothing to say it’s running, especially as it’s pretty quiet initially - no great gurgles and spits like the traditional filter machines used to make.Mostly minor niggles I know, and once we’ve worked out how the machine’s “cup” equates to our mugs, and learnt how to get water in the right place, and adjusted routines to allow for that bit more time, this will do us fine.

I have not had a coffee machine in a really long time so was very excited to test this.1stly it looks really different and unusual with its geometric styling, but it looks fantastic in my lime green and black kitchen. It was very easy to set up, i had a pot of coffee within half an hour. I did a dry run through however with just plain water 1st to get rid of any resideue left over from manufacturing.I think the mesh filter is genius because i will never have to buy coffee filters, saving the environment from excess junk, the mesh is ridiculously easy to clean, you just tap the coffee grounds out and then run under the hot water tap, takes all of 60 seconds, probably not even that.It would of been nice to of had an extra filter in the package however because if anything happens to it, you are pretty stuffed. You can buy a spare for less then 3 quid from the manufacturers website but there are none in stock. You can also buy basket coffee filters that are around 8 quid for 100 but again its not necessary as thats why the mesh is there.I only drink decaf so i bought a pack of decaf ground and let the machine do its work. The coffee was piping hot, mellow and smooth, and tasted delicious. Best of all it has a timer so i can set it up at night and get it set up for the time i wake p in the morning, saving me loads of time and energy and i can also put a pot on later, take my dog out for a walk and its ready and hot when i get back. I had tried pod coffee makers in the past and have always been disappointed in the taste and lack of heat in the drinks so this was a real pleasure. I wont be going back to drinking instant coffee for a while.Couple of niggles, the hotplate clicks off after 25 mins, i think it needs to be 60 mins personally. The claims it makes up to 12 cups of coffee. Unless you are drinking out of espresso mugs this is blatantly false. The average mug is 300ml and the jug is 1800ml so will in fact make 6 standard cups.Thats it. I really like it, everything is easy to set up and easy to clean, and the coffee is delicious.

I never drink instant coffe, cannot stand the stuff and have for years tried to find a quick, not too pricey way of making proper coffee. I have had cafatieres but never found them satisfactory, tried the Nespresso stuff which never stays hot and is very expensive and once tested a huge coffee machine similar to those found in coffee shops. It ground your beans and you had choice of grinds, strengths, etc etc and after about half an hour of faffing about you finally, if you were lucky, got a cuppa. Then a couple of years ago I discovered filter coffee again, this time an electric filter machine, none of the paper filters and have been very happy with the results. Now this one which I was delighted to review. Most permanent filters are pyramid shaped and the coffee drips through the point. This machine has one with a wider flatter bottom to the filter so the coffee permeates through over a wider area which should give you a better mellower cup of coffee. Well, I am a cynic when it comes to various claims but on this occasion I can say how delighted I am with the results of the coffee made with this machine so far.First up, it looks really elegant and smart and is not enormous and fits nicely on my work top. It comes with a coffee scoop and a very clear set of instructions which is not always the case. I only brew between 1-4 cups at a time, usually only one, and the strength button on it automatically sets for this amount of coffee. If you are brewing more then you can choose the strength you require. It brews up very quickly and, as I said above, the coffee I have made so far is mellow and hot and really enjoyable. And the price is so reasonable. I think I will stick with this one for quite some time

Traditional filter coffee maker - healthier and better than most other forms of coffee maker including cafetieres as the filters remove the harmful aspects of ground coffee. The arrival of this was timely as my kettle decided to pack up - I use an individual drip filter for a single cup as a rule.Setting it up was straightforward and I didn't have the bother of filter papers thanks to the mesh filter. It produced a jug of coffee fairly quickly - you are able to set the strength desired using one of the buttons on the front panel and I had it set to medium. The one area where it fell down is the poor instruction book which is actually incorrect. The hotplate stays on for 25 minutes and then switches off but according to the instructions "to reactivate the machine from standby mode press any button". This simply does not work - whichever button you press triggers that function. The only button that brings the hotplate back on is the power button. I am at a loss to understand why manufacturers do not test their instruction booklets on someone who has never seen or used the machine before. The machine itself is a sleek compact design and will sit discreetly in a corner on your worktop without taking up too much space. On the whole a very good filter machine.

Nice looking replacement for an older unit which had failed a PAT test. Will use in Church for coffee after the service so the easily set timer means the coffee person no longer has to leave early! I think it will be good for meetings like the Church Council to help keep business moving along quickly. It's very easy to use - even without the quick start page in the manual. I like the fact that there is a strength setting as I like strong coffee - and as I am the vicar everyone else gets it too! Obviously if you have 50 people coming to church and they all want coffee then the 12 cup jug won't be enough - though you can order a second one so you can put another on as soon as the first is ready.Thetaste of this coffee compared to my many other methods of making coffee with the same set of freshly ground coffee beans is very good. Strong and mellow with no bitterness. Other methods may be better for foamy milky cappuccinos or flat-whites but for good basic filter coffee for up to a dozen people this machine is very effective and very good value.Looks great with the Vector design - though I wouldn't like it in my kitchen, but that is a matter of personal taste.

This Morphy Richards coffee maker is a great addition to your kitchen. Easy to set up straight out of the box, within no time you're brewing coffee comparable to, or even better than, some cafes. We found the coffee was better with freshly ground beans, but pre-ground coffee is pretty good to. You get a better bloom with fresh beans. Up until now I'd used a Hario drip manual coffee maker, but I'm thinking this will replace that. You don't need filter papers with this machine as there is a mesh basket, but we've found using filter papers makes it easier to dispose of old coffee and to clean up afterwards. The timer function meant we could wake up to fresh coffee and the hot plate ensured it stayed hot for when we went back for a second cup.All in all this machine makes great tasting fresh coffee and with additional papers this is quick and easy to keep clean. Well worth considering.

I have seen a few reviews saying it tastes "plasticy" this seems to be when auto strength function is used.I have had my machine for a week now and had around 15 mugs of coffee, all of which tasted perfect, for a machine this inexpensive I was not expecting too much, but the quality is excellent. The only down side for me is the "keep warm funtion lasts only 25 minutes, I am told you can add another 20 minutes to this, by pressing the on button once the machine has gone in to stand by mode after the 25 mins.If this is the case...... I dont see the point of the "keep warm" button( 3 wavy lines) on the machine??But all in all a great coffee machine highly reccomend it.

I thought I would leave it a couple of weeks before leaving a review!I am so pleased with this coffee machine, its incredible! I was a little hesitant at first, with so few reviews and of course reading the less positive reviews regarding a plastic taste, not being easy to clean and so on. I, myself have had none of the above issues whatsoever! I know it has only been 2 weeks since having the machine, but my partner and I love it! For is 32nd Birthday present (he wanted a coffee machine), he just has not stopped using it. We havent really used pre-ground coffee in it yet as we do love to grind our own beans. This machine, I would 100% reccomend!

Everything perfect. Easy to run, the timer function is useful, and regardless what other people said in their comments, I couldn't feel any plastic flavour in the coffee :) It is also a pretty machine and materials looks good.Recommended 100%

After comparing reviews of many machines, I decided this seemed the best for coffe taste, build quality and style. After receiving and using the machine, it met all of my expectations. A great little coffee machine.

Great coffee maker with nice modern design. Only minus point in my view is that it only remains on for 25 minutes. So if you take your time drinking your coffee you have to keep switching it back on.

Wonderful machine. Looks great, not exactly compact, but it's neat compared to most. The muffin filters are so much better than the old funnel like ones. Not the easiest to clean though.

Looks good in the kitchen .Easy to use . Does just as it says and makes a good brew.Would strongly recommend using paper filters .It is a bit messy to clean out.Reasonable price .
