have had this for a week so far and it has been a treat using it. We wanted a proper coffee machine for the office and chose this one after a lot if investigation. We are all 'proper' coffee drinkers here and had shortlisted several machines which seemed to check all the boxes. Since it arrived it has been used all week and has consistently produced amazing coffee - I buy my personal favourites from Starbucks. The flask container keeps the coffee hot for 2 hours if you fill it to the top - but less time if you only do it half full. the flavour of the coffee really gets through and it is delicious.Infact the temptation of the coffee just writing about it has sent me off to brew a fresh one right now.It is very easy to use and jug the number of spoons of ground coffee to match the strength that you want. We even set the timer to brew our coffee for morning so that when we arrive at work the scent of the delicious coffee wafts around the office and welcomes everyone to sanity ;-)All together I find the machine easy to run, easy to clean and easy to set up. It has none of the major washing up involved in the expresso machines and all you need are the filter bags of which 5 are provided included in the delivery package. The machine is supplied by costco so that tells you that it is almost certainly the best of the pack as Costco generally choose the best of everything to sell at sensible prices. Its too soon to say how long this will stand up to use but we brew up about twice a day so realistically it should give us quite few years of service before it packs up. The space footprint is very sensible and perfect for a small kitchen or office kitchenette like ours and the added bonus is we offer clients a fab cup of best brew. Cost wise it is also a massive saving where a bag of Starbucks ground coffee comes to around £4.50 and that will easily serve up 40 cups of coffee, whereas buying it from the store would costs multiple that amount of money even taking into account eletricity and the filter bags that you will need.TEMPERATURE: Now I am adding this as a special feature of my review because it is one of the most important factors for me in a cup of coffee and nobody else mentions it. This machine serves up proper HOT coffee, not that luke warm sludge that most espresso machines dish out. Add to that the flask that the coffee percolates into and you save on running electricity all day to keep your coffee hot - instead the flask keeps the temperatures at very drinkable levels for about 2 hours on a full jug (although the brochure claims it is 90 mins). There is no milk frother but we dont take our coffees with milk anyway - cream being the preferred accompaniment if anything at all. Ideally though black coffee is tastiestupdate June 2020 - now I have had this since Jan and it is used daily. I have become more and more impressed with the machine having relied on it heavily during the recent lockdown because I was not getting any coffee from shops. basically - long story short - if you want an excellent cup of fresh black coffee, you want it hot and you do not want to be messing around having to clean your machine every time you use it - this is the machine for you - it's so good that I am buying another one for home use too

I bought this recently as a Christmas present for my parents, in no small part thanks to me smashing their old one spectacularly on the kitchen floor (it's brought out on rare occasions and had lasted for longer than I can remember).Lets get the bad stuff out of the way:The water tank is not removable in any easy way I can make out. If you buy the new model the Elegance or Elegance Deluxe these come with a removable tank. Only the Amazon description makes reference to a removable water tank on this model; the manual and the Melitta website do not.It arrived with a European plug......... Thankfully the Liebherr freezer has donated an adapter for Christmas day as there's little chance of it defrosting overnight in the prevailing weather conditions.Incidentally if this happens to you the Brennenstuhl Travel Mains Plug EU to GB Earthed Adapter is what I've ordered to make it work with the UK power supply. The Good stuff:It looks greatIt has a nice big jug that will make 10 cups of tea or 5-6 large mugs comfortably. The filter compartment is big enough for plenty of coffee without the water flowing out over the top of the filter compartment. The whole filter cone is easily removable for cleaning. When in stanby mode you can fill the reservoir up and hot water/steam will not come out of the spout even if it's been recently used.It comes with five free Melitta filtersIt makes a very good cup of coffee; I think some European coffee organisation thingumy agrees.....I picked this up on Black Friday for the tidy sum of £73.52 and the nice guys at Amazon gave me a small refund to help cover the cost of an adapter when I told them what happened but couldn't get a replacement (they need to check all existing stock to ensure they don't have any more European plug stock around). In summary there have been a few hiccups and it would definitely benefit from a removable reservoir but it really is a well functioning, good looking, easy to use and clean coffee machine and for the money it is an exceptional buy.

I only drink filtered coffee and quite a bit of it daily. I've had quite a few filter machines over the years and living in London with very hard water they die after a while despite descaling on a monthly basis. I bought this one because a) it looked good, b) by Melitta who are renowned for coffee products. Had it a few months now and I love it! Like some reviewers I found it made very weak coffee when I first started using it till by accident I discovered that if you leave it a few minutes after the brewing process has completed the coffee strengthens and it's great! I love the design! Because it's triangular in shape it fits in a corner of my small kitchen worktop so doesn't take up too much space. The timer is handy for workday mornings. 2 things prevent it from me giving 5 stars though:- a) the price is expensive for a filter machine, b) you can't descale it when you want to, the machine tells you when it needs descaling. Not comfortable with that living in a very hard water area. Had it a few months and it still hasn't indicated to be descaled...…………I'll wait and see what happens then supplement this review. Having said all this, so far I still think this is a great machine.Update March 2020Had this machine over 2 years now, and I love it! It's been descaled a number of times now and it still works perfectly, despite London hard water. Upgrading from 4 stars to 5. Highly recommend it!

Had been searching for a drip coffee machine for sometime now. Stay in Dubai and therefore needed 220v. Found quite a few on Amazon.com- and all of them were 110v. Tried finding the same brands in Dubai or some other 220v country- Oxo, Bonavita, basically all which come recommended on most websites. As a side note, have been drinking brewed coffee for a few years but haven't ever got down to making my own coffee at home. In case you are wondering- have only frequented Starbucks and Caribou- well that's the only places available here. Bought an Aeropress last month- but even though it is relatively simple to make, just the fact that one needed a kettle, a weighing scale,a timer amongst other things- made it very onerous. While searching for the Bonavita chanced upon the Melitta. Spent a lot of time reading about it (also not available in Dubai). Eventually the price and the great reviews (Amazon.co.uk and otherwise) nailed it.Made my first cup yesterday and also shared with my French neighbours- who usually swear by Espresso. All of us liked it.Moreover, was easy to set up. And very quick to make a coffee. Haven't used the timer function as yet, but if it takes 4 minutes from start to finish, don't need a timer.Highly recommended.

This machine makes great coffee very quickly. It is easy to use, the removable coffee and water containers help with this. Design is nice and the pot keeps the coffee warm for hours without using electricity. It pours well, with no drips.Issues preventing 5 stars are:The water container leaks if not placed exactly right. We've set it up a few times the night before and woken to a puddle of water. To check it is on right, you have to watch that no bubbles are rising in the water container. This may indicate the seal isn't correct.Another issue is that filters don't quite fit correctly. They need pressing down to prevent them folding over when you close the coffee grind drawer. The last one is that the buttons are a bit clunky and can be hard to press. Not much of an issue when turning on, but annoying when setting the time. For the price, I would have expected the R&D phase to have fixed these issues, especially the first.Update: this now leaks every time. Awful. Water everywhere in the mornings. Don't buy!Update 2: back to 4 stars. Sent replacement by customer services. Upgraded model has issues we encountered dealt with.

This machine really does look the part. The aromas it gives off are lush. The ease of use is good too. Only 4 stars as the filter system does drip once or twice when you take the pot out or put in. A little annoying. Would give it 4½ stars if possible. The coffee this machine make is truly lovely but it does depend on what coffee you use. But the misses and I both reckon its the aromas it gives off when brewing. We fill to 4-6 on the measurometer'rer with 5 table spoons of coffee makes 2 decent size mugs worth of perfect coffee. In fact whilst writing this review and talking about coffee. I need one now...All in all this machine is awesome. Just sad about the one or two drips. This machine would've got 5stars if it hadn't stated that it is drip free. Well worth the buy. No regrets so far.

Brilliant machine, very stylish does exactly what it says on the tin, fits beautifully in a corner on the right. Timer function is fantastic but not unique.Main pro: Easy to clean, the entire machine can be separated and washed; jug, water tank, filter. Usually these machines are a solid block meaning you can sometimes clean the filter and jug but the water tank is built in making it difficult to clean and empty.Main Con: Only 1 hour of heating, i love my coffee but not enough to think it needs replacing after an hour, would much prefer the coffee to simply stay hot until i turn it off, or have at least an option for 3 hours heating minimum. The machine is intelligent meaning even after the automatic switch off, pressing the on button will not reactive the hot plate.Recommended.

This coffee maker is not complicated or overly fancy. It's just a good solid filter machine that works well.I personally feel that there's a lot of nonsense talked about filter machines because ultimately, they all work on the same premise and the resulting cup of coffee will largely be down to the quality of the coffee itself rather than the machine. That said, the Melita looks lovely in the corner of our kitchen and has a nice quality feel. I've never had a bad cup of coffee from it and it's easy enough to clean. The main reason we chose this one was because of the de-scale function which works really well with any de-scaling product. It keeps the flavour consistent and promote the life time of the machine. We're very happy with it and would happily recommend.

I bought this coffee maker two months' ago to replace a coffee filter machine with thermos jug that I'd been using for years and was no longer available. As a self confessed coffee addict I wasn't disappointed, this is a fantastic machine. I thought the timer would be useful, although I've only used it once as the water goes through very quickly regardless of how many cups you are making. The taste is even better than my old machine using the same coffee. The machine looks stylish and is easy to clean. The only very minor negatives are that it's quite noisy as the last of the water goes through the filter and the numbers on the side of the water tank are quite difficult to see.

My machine developed a serious fault after 14 months of ownership, with water no longer emptying from the reservoir into the heating and filter units. The machine is still under guaranteer (24 months), but it shouldn't have developed a fault so soon particularly as it has been regularly descaled and maintained. It made lovely coffee and was a joy to use before it broke down. However, I contacted Melitta and they were very prompt in taking the broken coffee maker away and replacing it with a brand new machine. Excellent customer service!

the device qualifies as a life changer and possibly my best product ever purchased on amazon. I've cycled through nearly every possible coffee maker - perculator, stove top esspresso, french press, mini maker - at or below the 100 gbp price level. this delivers an espresso like strong cup of coffee with none of the banging, clanging, grounds, spewing air, clean up headache. device has been nothing but reliable, fantastic, consistent. couple that with high quality fit, design, build quality I'd go for 6 stars if possible.

11.2.2018

So glad I bought this machine. It makes great coffee and the thermal jug is so much better than a hot plate that alters the taste. Perfect for under a cabinet as the water tank and filter holder are removable. The tank has measurement lines which makes it really easy to make perfect coffee. Just fill accordingly then weigh the coffee needed. The machine also has a setting which allows you to make smaller brews.Expensive for a filter machine but worth every penny.

28.12.2015

This product is spot on - brewing is very quick, the coffee is hot, and it stays very warm for up to 60 minutes ( or longer, if you switch the machine on again) My machine came with a standard three pin plug, unlike another reviewer, who was critical of the product as a result. Personally I think that, whilst inconvenient, it doesn't detract from the products' performance . I can imagine how irritating this could be, but I have no complaints so far !

8.2.2016

After many false starts with cheaper machines I finally found this and it is great. Coffee runs through really quick. The thermal jug is excellent. Coffee is still hot enough after more than two hours and still tastes good. Very simple to use. The timer means I get up to hot coffee every morning even after a lie in. It is bigger than some other machines but still fits on the kitchen worktop.

Wanted to give this 6 stars, have a Melitta Optima in black at home which performs brilliantly, however wanted something special for work so purchased this Delux version and love it, looks so stylish and really well built, coffee comes out just right and is so easy to use and keep clean, fits in well with modern stylish design.
