I LOVE this bag. Somehow it seems lighter when you put it on even if it’s heavy when you pick it up! So very comfy to wear and a nice fit for my back (female 5’6” with a bad back!)The breathable air flow straps are also a revelation! There are two points of adjustment on the straps as well as a chest strap and a waist/hips strap.Rainproof cover is great, kept my bag and contents dry in heavy rain . It’s tethered but also removable for drying out. It’s also a bright contrast colour - my rucksack is oyster and not very visible when I’m cycling so I sometimes put the cover on just for extra high vis.Bag is also secure as you can thread the zip loops by threading the other straps through them and clipping in place.I also use a carabiner to prevent the zips slipping open or someone poking their way in my bag!The small front pocket is shallow but I can get a purse, phone, keys, sweets, pen and small notebook in there ! There is a handy keyring clip too.The large pocket keeps giving and the elasticated pouch which is more for a hydration system is a useful section divider and fits my 11inch tablet in its thick padded case. The front ‘pouch’ is handy- great for a coat, however be cautious with small solid items as if I bend over wearing it (eg when unlocking my bike) those items tend to slide out and hit me in the back of the head before dropping on the floor!Others mention the short elasticated side pockets. They’re probably best for a 500ml bottle and my bottle does slide out of them fairly often if I bend down. Generally though I try to tether bottles as I’ve not found a rucksack that does hold a bottle without it sliding out.I will definitely buy this rucksack again in future. It’s a great day bag for commuting and has plenty of room for change of clothes, cosmetic bag, small laptop, lunch box, and a few other bits and pieces. It’s also deceptively long without looking or feeling enormous!

This is a well-designed hiking pack -- the best I've ever had. I've had a lot of simple day packs, but without a waist belt the weight was all on my shoulders -- the waist belt on this pack transfers much of the weight from shoulders to hips and is far better. Most recently I've been using a lumbar pack which was great for eliminating shoulder pain, but it didn't have enough capacity and it constantly slipped down off my hips and was frustrating. This Osprey pack has a large carrying capacity for all the food, water, jackets, etc. you might need on a day trip and the weight distribution is very comfortable.Although I was disappointed to find that it has an internal frame, meaning it can't be easily rolled up and packed into my carry-on luggage to take on a trip, that frame provides one of this pack's nicest features. That feature is how only a mesh webbing touches your back and the body of the pack is suspended an inch or two away from your back, providing a lot of comfort and ventilation. This pack looks great, has good capacity, feels good, and has several nice features (trek pole holders, padded shoulder straps, an emergency whistle built into the sternum strap, a place to quickly stuff your jacket, etc.). There are two things I would like to see improved: I'd like a wider, padded waist strap and I'd like to see a guide on how to use the pack. There are design features that are obviously intended for some specific use, yet there is no booklet or guide to show what those are. Only after I visited the Osprey web site, did I see what the outer flap was for (holding a jacket outside the pack) and how trekking poles are carried (there's now a photo on this Amazon page, I see). I almost didn't find the raincover that's hidden in a bottom compartment. If you get this pack, which I recommend, go the Osprey web site to see how it is best used.

This backpack is a high-tech delight. It is beautifully engineered to be roomy, light, flexible (I use it for day hikes, but I also use it to tote my laptop and camera for photo walks, and occasionally for packing writing and painting supplies (ink, watercolor, pens, brushes, sketchbooks. There is one large main compartment, with a large separate pocket inside - there is one zipped pocket on the outside of the pack, with a single slot about the right size for a protein bar. There are two external unzipped pockets which I use for stowing quick access snacks when I’m hiking. I keep water bottles in the zipped pocket. The separate pocket is good for a larger water source on longer hikes,or for an iPad when I’m using it in urban settings. There is a convenient rain cover stowed in a zipped pocket at the foot of the pack. This thing is pretty light and sturdy - there is frame which keeps it rigid - and creates a slight arch to keep the main pack apart from a mesh section, which holds the pack away from your back - so no sweat back there! It keeps me dry and comfortable even on very hot days! The straps are sturdy and easy to use, allowing a perfect fit for any user. The appearance is attractive too - mine is black with bright taxi-yellow straps and tie on loops. Easy to see!And there is the added benefit of an external pouch for stowing a coat or sweater on variable weather days.Overall, this is a elegant and very useful multipurpose pack. My one caution is that there isn’t a lot of internal padding or protection, so it wouldn’t be a pack I’d use for air or bus travel.

I’m on the taller side of the spectrum, at 6’3” and I find this bag to be very comfortable. Ironically, when I received this pack, I found it to be similar to the Osprey hydration pack I already own with the exception of the shoulder strap. My hydration bag from Osprey has a nice little zippered sleeve for the hose routing. The difference is the unexpected rigid frame to this pack. I wanted to use this pack on an international trip as my personal bag, which had a restriction on size of 13” tall. Yes, the measurements said this would be too big, but I was expecting to be able to scrunch the bag easily to fit into that size requirement.Nowhere in the details does it make this statement. One of my favorite features is the open pocket which allows you to the easily throw a jacket in and use the cinch straps to hold it in place, making it easily accessible. My hydration pack has nice wide waist straps with zippers on either side for snacks, keys, etc. This pack just has webbing running right into the pack itself. Off the top of my head, the price point on these two packs is almost identical, I’d recommend the purpose built hydration pack over this one for added flexibility.Still a great pack at the end of the day, just a few nuances to consider.

Osprey Pack Hikellite 26 Backpack is perhaps the best day pack I have ever had or used. The design and material are extremely well suited for me and so far, is of great use on local trails. The material is quite lite, a little more than a pound empty. The built-in rain cover, stored and attached so you won't forget it, is a great add-on because there are plenty of times when you would talk yourself out of carrying an extra rain cover otherwise. The waist strap is great. It does take the weight off the shoulders on to the more stable hips. The mesh backing does keep the pack from being flush against the back, meaning it will provide a type of ventilation for users on longer hikes and in warmer weather. The ability to quickly store a jacket or other outer layer is great for colder weather hikes. A lot of thought went into the many features of this pack and I cannot recommend it more highly for the use it was designed for.

Rides on your back like a hitch hiker with no weight? shoulder straps are thick, wide and comfortable with a really strong “as one” construction at the top too! So load it as much as you dare, this little pack will take it... Chest and hip strap weld this pack to your body when super loaded in weight, the internal frame is curved and shaped to your back also with spring loaded mess inner backing, to help your back breath and not sweat, those days when it rains, stops, rains again etc it has a option even for that with large outer grab pocket on face of pack, where you can chuck your rain jacket and take it back out, without getting the inner contents of your pack wet... it has its own rain jacket too In the base?it literally is the best thought out pack on the market for day hikes, or for everyday use as a commuter pack... i bought the green one, it looks ace and blends into the countryside with easy.

I recently received the Osprey Packs Osprey Pack Hikelite 26 Backpack, Shiitake Grey, One Size through the Amazon vine program. The backpack is very lightweight but sturdy. It has a nice large inside pocket for main storage as well as some areas to store your water or other fluids. It has other side pockets for additional storage, a mesh portion to store additional items and a pole attachment. It also has a hydration sleeve that can accommodate up to 3 liters of fluid! It also has a rain shield in the bottom that you can cover the backpack in wet weather to prevent it from getting soaked an with it all of your items. It comes with adjustable shoulder straps,a chest strap and a waist strap to secure the backpack totally to you. It feels very compact yet can store a lot of items. I am very excited about this backpack and feel this will satisfy all my storage needs while hiking or traveling.

There's a bag for everyone and this last few months, this has been mine! I've used it for hiking light, over night stays and even tracking camera gear up a mountain. It's light weight, comfortable and pretty durable. Fantastic for a day bag too, as long as you don't load it to heavy as the strengthening wings at the lower back will rub a little on your lower back and it starts to hurt after a couple of days of it as I learnt in Venice. It was humid warm but raining at times and we walked about 25k steps a day.You can stuff this bag with a lot, just not a crazy heavy amount in those conditions.Hope this is helpful.Great for:-day hikes with coat, food, camera & other accessories-over nighting-city breaks for someone who can travel light, minimal tech.

For the engineering alone this bag is worth the price! Great structure & really well thought out with lots of options of how you can use it - the outside pocket at the back is really useful for holding a jacket securely & the top pocket is great for keys, purse or anything you need to grab quickly. The inside pocket at the back is quite tight so held my 2L water bladder upright.Used this for hiking & climbing as well as just a carry on bag for the plane. Its very light and the back is good if you are going to a warmer climate or doing any intensive exercise as it lets air though. 26L was easily enough for holding hiking gear and food for a long day. Only might be a bit small if you had puffy snow gear, plenty of room for waterproofs.

I can only echo what nearly every reviewer has said; this pack is light and incredibly comfortable. Most of the time I forget I’m wearing it. I have the green and the colour is really gorgeous. HOWEVER, the continuously irritating flaw is the design of the side water bottle holders. They really don’t work, despite what Osprey say. As soon as I bend over, the water bottle comes flying out. I’ve clipped it to the side, which keeps it attached to the bag but doesn’t stop it falling out of the pocket. I do have a water pouch but can’t be bothered with it for shorter day hikes. Other than this, I love it.

I took this pack on a few day hikes and love it so far. The side straps were great not only for the compression but also for clipping water bottles to secure them. I wish there were more internal pockets but get that the simple design maximizes storage space and also keeps the pack light. The rain cover seems to be big for the pack size but did its job well with mud splashes and with waterfalls. I wasn't sure how much to trust the front shove pocket but ended up finding it convenient for stuffing in a jacket and grabbing it again easily when the temperature changed.

just right size for most days with those mesh pockets and the body is wide open but not right next to the back so nice and cool and that great rain cover! I doubt I'll be backpacking with it but it's nice to just carry around. I've got some family that are giving me the evil eye hoping I'll decide it's not for me.I'm not a collector of backpacks but of the few I've owned and all those I see others using this does seem like the one that has the best of each! It seems a little pricey but looking at the construction and the layout I think it's worth it!!

I bought this backpack to use on hikes in Scotland. It fits in all the gear you would need for a day-long hike Spring-Autumn. You'd need a slightly larger backpack for winter gear. There's one large main compartment for extra layers, waterproofs and food; a smaller pocket for items such as a compass and first aid kit; side pockets for items such as a water bottle; and a pocket at the front for items like a map or book. Also, i love this colour of this bag. Excellent backpack - I would definitely recommend it.

I took this backpack hiking for 4 days. It’s big enough to carry changes of clothes / overnight kit and water while remaining comfortable to carry. I was worried carrying a pack would make my back ache but this fitted brilliantly. Love the side pockets for easy access to maps etc. Very easy to use with the Osprey hydration pack. I personally like the fact this doesn’t have a bulky waist strap as I never use them. It’s so good I’ve now ordered the same bag in 18L for day excursions.

I use the Osprey Hikelite 26 as a day pack. It has a good internal frame and breathable back. Bottle holders on each side. One big zip compartment and one little zip compartment. Has 4 straps on the sides to compress it when there's not much in it. The water bladder compartment can be used to organise documents/maps/papers. Very lightweight (735 Grams). Love it. It's a bit old now, so you can normally pick it up on discount.
