I broke this pack in over the weekend after using a couple borrowed packs over the last year. In short, while no pack will ever be perfect, for me this one is sure close! The photo I provided of my gear is not everything I carry, but it’s the bulkier items or my must-haves. There is room for more than what is pictured! For short distances (4 miles and under) I love taking my camera and this pack is large enough I can pop in a camera insert that holds my camera body, two lenses, and extra small items like filters and a battery. For longer distances I prefer not to have that extra weight so I take out the insert and free up space for extra food and gear. I always have my hammock, rain jacket, water filtration system, head lamp, and other small items. This pack allows for all of that plus other essentials I may need. I use the small vertical-zippered pocket on the back to hold my phone so I can access it quickly for photos or to check my trail map.The front pocket ended up being a great place to stow my hiking poles when I needed free hands to climb up rocks. While some may find the nylon waist strap a little flimsy, this pack doesn’t really require anything more substantial in my opinion. I had my dog with me and just put his lead on the waist band, leaving me with free hands to hold my hiking poles. It worked wonderfully.Another complaint on other reviews is that the angled side pockets make them less than ideal for water bottles. I use 1L Smartwater bottles for backpacking and they fit well in the pockets. To keep them secure I just tuck them under the side straps. This pack does have a place to insert a water bladder and I may opt for that down the road if I feel it’s easier.I found the shoulder and chest straps simple to adjust and the pack was easy to get on and off. It has a lot of nice pockets and the backing gives it enough structure that it can be loaded easily. This also keeps everything in its place when filled and the pack rests nicely on the back. I kept much cooler than when I was using the borrowed backs that had no structure to allow for air flow.I am 5’2” with a small frame so this pack is a nice size. I probably wouldn’t recommend it for someone with broad shoulders or who has a long torso. One thing women might want to consider is the type of sports bra they wear. On day one I wore one that had some plastic pieces near the shoulders and those rubbed on me, but wearing a different sports bra solved that problem.Overall, I found this to be a wonderful daypack and as I play around with it and use it for hikes of varying difficulty and distance I believe I’ll find it to be pretty ideal!

4 1/2 stars (hiking)...5 stars (every day use)...I have had this pack for a few weeks and use it every day. I have taken it hiking the Front Range near Boulder several times. Overall it is nearly perfect for me.I have owned the smaller Daylite for a year and a half and have liked it quite a bit. It has been pretty rugged. It is now my mountain biking pack, providing more space and flexibility than my trusty Camelbak Mule. The smaller Daylite was just a little too little about half the time.My fave feature of the Plus is the stuff pocket—it’s a little small, but I can cram my rain shell in it or wet items that I want to keep separate from packed gear. It’s handy to toss in items like a paperback book or my big USB battery pack. The vertical zip pocket is perfect for my iPhone 6+ when hiking. I also like the compression straps holding the stuff pocket secure; they can strap up a jacket on the outside of the pack.I can’t really tell much weight difference between the two packs. I can feel the larger dimensions of the Plus, but it is still a comfortable pack. There’s not much structure, so when there’s more inside it, it becomes a bit more uncomfortable. I never used the sternum or waist straps on the smaller pack but do use the sternum strap on the Plus—the main straps seem to fit a bit wider on my shoulders, and the chest strap brings them comfortably in a bit. The waist straps are easy to cut off and save for if you ever need them, or to use the great snap buckle for something else. The chest strap is a bitch to get off and on, but I only had to remove/reinstall once. The mesh side pockets are there to mock you. They invite gravity to rob you of most possessions. I will sometimes risk cramming soft items in them— gloves, a beanie, stuff sacks—but I never put smooth objects in there because they will simply fly away. You can use the compression straps to secure some things in the laughable and inadequate side pockets.Great packs! Amazing hardware—zippers and pulls, buckles, straps, organizing pockets. I love the simple hydration sleeve and never use water bottles. The red/orange Plus looks beautiful. My old yellow Daylite has weathered pretty well despite the light color and pretty heavy abuse, and I anticipate both packs easily lasting 5-10 years.

I wanted a bag for random short-ish hikes in the Welsh hills. I wanted an established brand but as with everything on Amazon it’s riddled with random Chinese brands on the cheaper end.I spotted this bag pretty soon on in the search, looked good and had a decent price at £38, but I was put off by the massive amount of reviews saying about the side pockets being crap for drinks, even some YouTube videos said the same. The only other one I wanted was the Osprey Hikelite 26 and is £60 ish so I took a punt at this cheaper one, thinking if it’s really that bad I’ll just put the drinks inside the bag.Glad I did, the bag is perfect! The side pockets are totally fine for my use,the people with drinks falling out must be using seriously big bottles. As you can see in the pictures I’ve uploaded I had a 700ml coffee flask in one pocket and a 750ml water bottle in the other and they were completely buried in there, even a 1 litre one would’ve been okay, the bottles didn’t fall out once. The bag’s pockets are nice and spacious, the smaller pocket has a plastic hook/loop for attaching your keys to. The whole bag seems to be made out of a durable material, the zips are high quality as well. It’s made of a water resistant material but obviously not waterproof, would be good if it came with a waterproof cover like the Hikelite does but I just got a 2 pack off Amazon for like £8 so I’ll carry one of them just in case I get caught in some rain. This will make the bag very handy for taking mountain biking too, don’t ruin the bag with wet mud at all.I took the waist belt/strap off because I don’t need it but the chest strap is spot on, and it can be adjusted higher and lower on the sort of rails, probably helpful if you’re a female for chest comfort. The clip also has a whistle on too. There’s also a pocket for a hydration bladder though I haven’t used this yet.Overall very comfy bag, the back plate is rigid and supports the contents nicely and cushions the bag, had it on for a 5 hour walk the other week (where I took the pictures for this review) and it was spot on.Very recommended!

BUY THIS and let me know if this review is helpful below! I just went to Cambodia and Vietnam for 15 days with just a carry-on roller bag (that I checked) and a backpack. Although I knew this backpack would be comfortable, I was concerned it wouldn't be big enough. I wasn't going to use this bag as a daypack. Instead, I just wanted something that was comfortable to carry things from one place to the other.I am SO glad that I went head and purchased this anyways. This bag is the most comfortable backpack I have ever used and the pockets are amazing. The main pocket is huge and has a computer sleeve inside (that I just used for other stuff). On the outside of the bag, there is a smaller pocket on the top with 2 mini pocket holders inside. The zipper pocket in the front is huge and can fit essential items. Additionally, that flap with the zipper pocket is also a pocket that you can stuff anything in.I fit the following things in this bag (which I used as a carry-on when I checked my bag at the airport):Main Pocket: 1 thin sweatshirt, 1 thin long sleeve shirt, 2 pairs of underwear, 1 pair shorts, 1 short sleeve shirt, 1 pair of leggings, 1 pair of socks, 1 pair of toms, 1 quart size bags of medications, 1 quart size bag of liquids, Toothbrush, Hairbrush, Lonely Planet Travel book, printed packet of itinerary. Even then, I had a little bit of room.Smaller pocket on outside of bag: Clif Power Bar, Snickers, Heath Bar, Camera, Cellphone charger and cord, Camera charging cord, Headphones, Wireless Headphones, Earplugs, Kleenex Packet, Sunglasses, and Sleeping Mask.Flap Pocket: Tissues and Restaurant Napkins (for bathroom when there are no tissues)Small pocket on outside of flap: Hand lotion, Hand sanitizer, Suntan Lotion, Advil, and Tums (all items travel sized). This is everything I needed in case my bag got lost. My shoulders never got sore and my bag never got sweaty. This is a must buy. Enjoy!!!

So I've had this product for two days now and will update this review in the long term. But so far this is exactly what I was looking for. I originally bought the porter 30 serious but it was a bit bigger than I wanted so I sent it back. I must know that I'm a minimalist and really was looking for something that could function for a travel pack and and every day pack hiking pack, pretty much an all around pack and that's exactly what this is.The size for me at 20 liters is really great. Immediately when I received the item might get a test to see what I could fit in it. I was able to fit 2 pair of chinos, 1 thin sweater, 1 thick sweater, 2 long sleeve shirts, 2 short sleeve shirts, 2 shorts,2 underwear, 2 socks, 1 tank top, to supplement bottles and tsa-approved quart size liquid bag, 12 in laptop and charger. it was a little tight in the miscellaneous compartments but the main compartment could have fit probably one more shirt. So for me this is really perfect for any kind of travel I do as I travel light intend to wash my clothes in a sink. it also functions as the daypack for me with my tech job being able to bring my laptop and miscellaneous supplies. I'll soon test it out camping this summer.Overall the bag seams pretty quality build for the price. The straps are decently padded and pretty well sits on me and I'm a tall guy.my only complaint and this isn't enough to knock it down any stars as that the front organizational pocket could be a little better organized having a place for pens credit cards etc as opposed to to stretch pockets.Overall. I really like this bag so far.

Built to last, with sharing materials with Ospreys more expensive bags. At 20L it has sufficient room for a day pack. Has a laptop sleeve that fits my 14" Lenovo T440p brick laptop. Has its own water bladder pocket, the shove it pocket in the front has enough space for a layer of clothing or flip flops. It has compression straps that can be use for holding trekking poles. The top pocket is adequate for organization, good for passport, wallet, keys, etc. Also the zippered pocket in the front is very handy for quick storage. I love the color...its has accents in black and dark fossil gray. It's slim enough that it fits inside my Farpoint 40, so you can take it with you as a second backpack when you travel. You can take out the foam in the back and fold up the bag. All seems great until you get to the side water bottle pockets and thats it's weekness. Simply put they dont hold bottles of water at all. The pockets are not deep enough, too wide. The only way to make them stay is if you have a thermos or a water bottle with something to attach it to the compression straps. And at the price point they could have just included a water reservoir. If you're not using the weist straps you have to unclip them cause they make contact with your lower back and it gets annoying quick. And the shoulder straps are ventilated but could use more padding. But I havent owned it long enough to test the durability.Update 1/12/19: I take this pack everywhere, it's very comfortable and looks great. Still hate the water pockets lol

I bought this for running. Lightweight and many pockets.I already have a Deuter 12l, which is lighter but lacks the waist strap, which I want for running. As others said the water bottles could fall out of the side pockets, but that is the reality of many backpacks. Water bottles with a hole/clip at the top can be secured to the side straps easily.I have a camera bag (ThinkTank/Mindshift), that has an elastic loop on the side pocket that can be used to cinch/secure a water bottle. A simple solution that should be a default on most backpacks.Back of this bag allows airflow. I can put essential stuff inside, even a laptop.Main problem is that the handle in between the straps pokes in my neck if I wear it tight while I run,or if I ride a bicycle with a drop bar. That is a significant design flaw. It made me consider returning the backpack, but I decided to keep it.If the handle was made of softer material it would solve the problem, or design it to be angled differently.I am not sure why Osprey did not figure this out.The Deuter backpack has a more streamlined design, it is easier to fill, as the Osprey seems to narrow a little in the middle. But the Deuter has less of a breathable back, and the 12 l lacks the waist strap. But I wonder if a Deuter 18 l (if it does have a waist strap) could have been a better choice for running. The Osprey allows a bladder to be installed externally from the main compartment, the Deuter does not.Anyway I like the bright green, high visibility,

I have a bigger osprey pack in the same color (Celeste in brilliant blue!) that I use daily on campus. But I was taking a trip and wanted a slightly smaller pack that I could run and bike with, so I decided to get this one too. It's fabulous for running/biking as you can get a good custom fit with the various straps, and it's got enough room for water, another layer, even a thin beach towel in my case. It's very comfortable, too.But yeah, everyone warned about those side pockets on this model. And they're right: things do not stay in there, esp. not a water bottle. I also wear glasses and always carry my regular glasses and my prescription sunglasses with me. That's really what I like the side pockets for,and since I managed a 4 day trip without my glasses case falling out, I figured the pockets were safe for smaller things. THEY ARE NOT!!!! I used the pack as my carry-on, and yep, my glasses case must have fallen out of the pocket sometime in either the airport or the plane, because I put it in the outside pocket and went through security and on my flight--and only when I arrived home did I realize the case had fallen out somewhere along the line. so yeah, lost my prescription sunglasses because of the pocket design. Which suck!Still like the pack. Still glad to have both. But don't trust those side pockets, and come on, pack designers: make some more useful and secure side pockets for this model of pack. (The side pockets are perfect on the Celeste, by the way!)

This backpack is amazing! I’ve been looking for a smaller pack that fits my 2L bladder and more for longer hikes as my 35L Nebula isn’t the best to hike with. As a pretty picky hiking gear gal, I’ve owned and tried a couple of different hydration backpacks before I settled this one. It looks great, is super comfortable, and fits quite a few things!Build:The build of this thing is solid. It actually has a bit of a frame on the back along with a mesh style so the backpack has great ventilation and holds a shape. I love the back because my previous hydration packs had no shape and when filled would end up slacking. This one when filled keeps its shape pretty well.Size:The size of this thing is deceiving!I use it as a daily pack and a hiking backpack and it fits all the stuff that I need. For hiking it’s fit a 32oz nalgene inside, a hat, a small first aid kit, baby wipes, extra socks, a shirt, and a 2L bladder filled with some room to spare!Quality:Compared to my Osprey Nebula backpack, I will say I was kinda worried about the quality of this backpack when I first touched it. The material feels a little thinner than the material on my Nebula but it’s still quality. I’ve used it on a couple hikes and there’s been no rips, scratches so far. It also looks great! There isn’t a bladder included but if you’re looking for a smaller pack that is durable, looks good, and has a design that is thoughtful and comfortable I’d get this one!

Got this bag for a hiking trip and wasn’t sure on how big it actually was. When I got it I expected it to be small and yes it is smaller but it’s so light! The shoulders don’t have much padding but it’s ok. I ended up using this bag for school as well as hiking. I had both a bladder and a 13 in laptop. The laptop compartment is Inside the shell and the bladder compartment is behind the back plate. The bladder didn’t really hold well ulnless I really made it stay which got annoying. The material is a little loud kinda like a windbreaker jacket. I believe all the zippers are YKK which if you know, are the best. I hauled a lot of stuff inside, ie: pens, bladder, 2-3 notebooks, 3 inch width book, water bottle and change of clothes for my class. I’ve Bde it about 3 ish months and it’s help up so far. I don’t have very many abrasions or tears ( for now). The water bottle pockets have stretched out but I also used them for clothes and 32 oz water bottles. The bottles don’t stay unless you strap it to the bag via the tension straps. But over all I enjoy this bag a lot. Oh also! The yoke on the bag is annoying whe. The bag has a few items in it. I usually crank the bag up high on my back because I’m super short. When the bag had a lot inside it’s oddly easier to just loosen the bag so that the yoke isn’t as high. I’ve obviously gotten over having my bag super high and have adjusted to having a bag with a yoke.

I just recently got this backpack and I love it. This is the perfect day pack and I just recently took it on a 5 day trip to Boston. It is very light yet I can carry everything I need in it and it stays tight to the body during urban travel (ie on the metro train). The pack is very comfortable even when packed fairly full and it feels like you're wearing nothing. About the pockets, they are very loose, but I used some industrial strength velcro to keep them closed when I store things in them. I have also read of someone using diaper pins to take up the extra slack and make the pockets tighter (diaper pins don't come undone when baby moves). I used the diaper pins to hang bandanas on the mesh pockets to dry during a recent day/night hike.I have a 28 oz Klean Kantene that I put in the pocket and I attach the top of the bottle with a big carbiner to one of the compression straps and it stays in fine even when I turn the bag upside down. I am looking into getting a hydration bladder at some point...I'm glad I ordered the Daylite plus over the regular daylight@13L as I think it would have been too small. The Daylite Plus is the perfect size for light travel over the weekend or day pack out on short trips or hikes or commuting in an urban environment. I use this everyday along with an Patagonia Atom 8L bag, and an Osprey Porter 46 for longer adventures paired with an Osprey Stuff Pack...

FANTASTIC daypack. I used this for a 2.5 week trip through Europe and it is very comfortable to wear all day. The straps and back are mesh with a foam frame throughout which helps it's breathability. It can fit a ton and is very versatile. The main pocket has a separate pocket for tablets/laptops. The smaller front pocket is big enough to fit some smaller electronics or chargers/cables, etc. I used some carabiner's to attach a camera pouch and the side stuff pockets were great water bottles. The stuff pocket that is featured on the Daylite Plus is well worth the extra money to have a bit more versatility. I used it quite a bit for either sunglasses, maps, umbrella, larger water bottle, etc.I'm excited that it was built to also hold a water reservoir which just adds to the possibilities this bag gives its owner. Didn't have any problem taking it on our flights as smaller carry-on and it's perfect to fit under the seat or up above.ONLY DOWNSIDE: If you are buying this because of the compatibility with the Osprey Porter be cautious. It technically can attach to the Porter but it's a hassle. I primarily bought it because of that feature so it was disappointing that more of a nuisance to attach it to the Porter. The bag overall is great I just wouldn't buy for the Porter compatibility.

Like some other reviewer, I really wanted to love this backpack but simply it's too big for me and there was no way I could adjust the backpack to work well on my back. I'm 5'5" so I'm not super tall but not that petit size. I love osprey products and in the part I got none didn't fit so I was surprised that this Daylite Plus backpack didn't work for me.When I make the shoulder straps shorter to get it right, the top part come to close to back of my neck and it will be too tight around there and it's very uncomfortable. If I loosen the shoulder straps, the backpack goes to low and can't use waist belt properly.I was looking for a backpack that could attach to my Osprey Porter backpack that I love for travelling. In terms of capacity, this is perfect size for maximizing personal item. And it fits fantastic to my Porter 46 L.It's super lightweight but yet in high quality. I wish Osprey to make Daylite plus for women so it will fit to petit person.Updated photos of Daylite Plus black attached to the Porter 46L teal color. There are 2 ways to attached it (as far as I tried). They're not fully stuffed so it would be even bigger when it's fully stuffed.

I have used this pack almost daily since purchasing it. I've used it for skiing in the French alps and it worked perfectly, it has enough space in the main compartment to keep your lunch and spare clothing layers, and the smaller zipped compartment works well for keys and essential items that you need access to quickly.Despite having both larger and smaller packs, I find this being my 'go to' pack as it's small enough to take on most airlines as your extra 'personal luggage' but still large enough when expanded to be useful for a range of activities like hiking, commuting and mountain biking as an alternative to a Camelback style pack. The hydration compartment has been useful too, although I purchased a third-party hydration bladder as it was almost half the price of the official Osprey one and almost identical, and fits without issues in the compartment. For the price (circa £40) I think it's a bargain and I'd happily purchase again. I also think the extra few pounds for this version is worth it over the regular 'Daylite' version as it makes the pack much more usable for very little size or weight penalty.

The only big downside that comes to mind when thinking about this product is that I always seem to run out of room for things, which isn't the worst thing in the world - it keeps me mindful of things that I truly need and what's excess. It fits a 15" laptop, along with a couple of textbooks and a 5 subject notebook with ease. The 15" laptop sleeve inside is perfect.A minor gripe that I have is that the side pockets are not ideal whatsoever for reusable water bottles. The pockets are too shallow, and unless you have an extraordinarily tall water bottle, it will just be short enough to also be held in place at the top of the bottle by the side straps. So I have to keep my water bottle inside my pack instead. However, for day to day use, and even for weekend trips, I absolutely LOVE this pack - it's perfect in almost every way for me. Clothes for the weekend fit well and the pouch in front provides plenty of room for hygiene items. I also enjoy the small pocket on the very front of a pack, as it's a handy place to keep my passport and my epipen with me at all times, just in case.
