Osprey has been a recognized name in quality backpacks for years (they were founded in 1974). They have a warranty called the “All Mighty Guarantee” which is an enhancement to their lifetime warranty. This company will repair any damage or defect in your pack, free of charge, whether you purchased your pack recently or in 1974. If they are unable to repair your pack, they will replace it. Since these packs are fairly expensive, I would encourage potential buyers to look at the Osprey website to view all available options/styles and also consider visiting a retailer since they can measure you for the perfect fit with the Osprey fit tool (proper fit is based on your torso length – not your overall height). My torso length is 17-1/2” and the Kyte 36L fit well. The Kyte is one of several backpacks by Osprey that are designed for women. It has many great features and is perfect for short hikes (especially the 36L). The adjustable air escape back panel ensures a perfect fit by keeping the load close to your body and the ventilation reduces sweating. The hip belts are padded for comfort and they provide great load stability and support. I love the external reservoir sleeve because you can refill your reservoir (water bladders are a separate purchase) without pulling everything out of your pack. There are several compression straps that are not only great for tightening down heavy loads but also for attaching bulky items. There is a sleeping bag compartment with a removable floating divider so if your sleeping bag is too large for this compartment, you can remove the divider, which then provides more internal space in the pack. There are also removable sleeping pad straps. There are many pockets: the top lid has 2 zippered pockets (one inside and one outside), two generously sized external mesh side pockets which easily holds a 32 ounce water bottle, two zippered hip belt pockets and a “shove it” pocket in the front of the pack for essentials that you want close at hand (such as a rain jacket). There are 3 sturdy daisy chains on each side of the pack to attach additional gear. The trekking pole attachment allows you to stow poles without taking off the pack. There are also ice trekking pole attachments. Also included is a generously sized rain cover in its own labeled compartment; it attaches to the pack with a strap so you simply unzip, pull the rain cover from the compartment, unroll, and pull it over the pack. Lastly, there is a full length zippered side access to allow you to reach in the side of the pack (this is very convenient for top loading backpacks – especially if you are trying to reach something that you know you packed at the bottom). This is a great lightweight pack that has a lot of pockets and features, but it does have limitations due to its small size and will be best for short hikes and weekend excursions. If you are looking for a medium sized pack, the Kyte also comes in a 46L size, and Osprey also has several other larger packs for women - such as the Aura AG (65L), Porter (30L, 46L, 65L) or the Lumina (45, 60L) which also appear from their website descriptions to be solid performers. Regarding the color Mulberry Purple - it looks like a deep Navy Blue (not a complaint - merely an observation). Happy hiking!

I'm a distance hiker, and finding a decent backpack that suits a woman's frame is very difficult. Packs made for men are usually too long in the torso, and do not have a waist strap that fsets at the waist and puts the majority of the mass on the hips, something that is fairly essential for a woman's pack as we are stronger in the legs than in the back.I took this pack out on a three day, 35 mile, hike on the Appalacian trail to test out the comfort and practicality. The pack fit well on my average female frame (I am 5'6" 150 lbs) and was adjustable to my torso (I'm longer in my legs, and shorter in my torso than most). The sholder straps fit where they were supposed to,and the waist strapThe pack itself has one large main compartment, a top compartment, and a bottom "compartment" accessable by zipper but which is really separated from the main compartment just by a piece of material that is open at either side. At the bottom is a small zip pocket that contains a rain cover, and is big enough to stow an additional item. I kept my rain poncho in there. There are two mesh side pockets that easily fit a 1 500 ml Nalgene bottle, and two small zip pockets on the waist straps. I felt I had adequate storage space for a three day hike, and the variety of storage areas so I was able to keep reasonably organized and find things easily. The material is durable, and should stand up to a lot of wear and tear on the trail.Things I didn't like: I didn' like that the bottom zip area communicated with the main pack. Smaller things would fall through to the bottom area and get lost deep in the pack, or fall out when the zip was opened. The top zipper area is oddly situationed and shaped, and although very spacious, when full it stuck backwards against my head stopping me from walking upright. I had to shift my belongings and move almost everything out of that pocket once on the trail.Still these are minor issues for a pack that I think is high quality, functional, and suited for the female frame.

Osprey’s Kyte seems to have everything of its similar and sometimes bigger packs in an overnight or maybe weekend 36L hiker size for women. The Kyte is primarily a top-loading main sack but with loads of attachment points, comfort features and a rain cover. I found it very comfortable on the harnesses and easy to carry.I’ve had several Osprey packs over the years and have yet to have a problem with them to need the All Mighty Guarantee. The kids wear theirs daily. Universally, they are sturdy, quality materials that can take at least a modest beating on the trail through the backcountry or to school. The only thing that really vexes me about my Kyte is how to describe the color. The Mulberry Purple version I have is such a deep purple that almost looks bluish. I can’t describe it.I would note the hydration bladder actually slips in behind the harness mount rather than inside the pack or a compartment of the pack. That’s a little different than my others and other brands but I didn’t have an issue putting my bladder in.The features include requisite padded/adjustable harness and shoulder pads. The lid/flap has extra zippered storage options and the bottom has additional compartments, including the hi-vis green roincover. External stuff storage is on the front and side. All the lash points, compression points and loops are plentiful nearly from top to bottom. These can take tools, extra stuff lashed in with your own paracord or numerous things to customize for yourself.

This Osprey Women’s hiking backpack is the women’s touch I didn’t know I was missing in a hiking backpack. I had always gotten unisex or even just used my husband’s. I am glad to have finally gotten a backpack designed for women in mind.First, it is a bit pricey but I do feel it’s a good brand and good quality. I would say it’s worth it. I haven’t had it that long to say how long it will last me but from the feel of it using it half a dozen times already I do feel it’s going to give me a few years!I feel it is very comfortable even with packing it full for the weekend. It was padded around my back and shoulders. It also comfortable and easily adjustable around my torso. It includes so many different places to put things like poles, a sleeping bag, easy access pocket you could put a compass or gum or a knife (or all three). It includes the rain cover. It also has a pouch for your water pack that doesn’t take up any space on the inside. The only thing I didn’t really like was the color of the bag. This is not very important though so I didn’t dock it at all! Definitely recommend.

This pack is great, it has the AirScape back which lets airflow behind the pack, and provides an internal frame to keep the pack where it should be -- probably my favorite feature. But it has tons of other super nice little things, side zippers, hydration pack, it's adjustable where it hits your waist for better load carrying. Love this pack.

This backpack will accompany me on a six-month trip. It is perfect - incl. Sliding floor compartment (even my Salomon trekking shoes have space there) - in addition the backpack has a lateral zipper to get more easily to the contents. The Kyte also has different practical subjects for optimal organization.

I was an infantryman for 23 years of my life. Wish the army had these. This one was for my girl so I would definitely recommend them. The one I got last year has already gone over 1000 miles and will get 500 more this year. Awesome. No joke. Awesome

I loved this pack! It was light and carried really well. Unfortunately, I couldn't fit everything I needed for a 3 day backpacking trip, so I returned it for a larger pack.
