When travelling through airport security with a laptop the one thing you don't want is to have to unpack the lot in order to get the laptop out and on display. So I was looking for a backpack that offers the comfort of opening a zip and out the laptop comes while the rest is still securely stashed away. I also wanted something I can either roll or carry without having to rebuild in between. And as nice to have would be a few compartments to hold travel essentials like umbrella, passport, purse ...This backpack ticks all the (my) boxes. It is as easy and comfortable to roll as it is to carry. No rebuild required from carry to roll and back and it has enough compartments to hold all my essentials. The backpack comes with extra padded laptop bag and my laptop fits well in.There is plenty of space and handy storage compartments for all your bits and pieces when travelling. It fits in overhead lockers on an airplane but because I carry everything but the kitchen sink with me - it becomes to bulky and heavy to fit onto the overhead storage racks on a train - specially if you are not really tall enough to comfortably reach them anyway and the weight of the bag just makes you fall over :-). It has a net pocket / water bottle holder on the side which I use as umbrella storage.I haven't experienced the "noisy wheel issue" from a couple of other reviews. The noise level depends pretty much on the surface you are rolling it about ....The build of the bag is nice and solid, clean stitching. The telescopic arm has to levels, is easy to use and locks in place with release button for folding away.Cons from my side after 4 weeks of constant use - the velcro pads are of no use to me and the way I use my bag. But they are in places where when using the bag as backpack they rub against my skirt/trousers/jacket and catch and roughen the material, leaving unsightly and irreversible patches/marks. So I will try to remove the velcro patches from my bag.Other thing I've noticed is that one of the strap holder clips is not gripping as tight as the other and I end up having to adjust the strap frequently to not end up loop sided.Regardless of the cons, I would buy the backpack again.

I've been using this Targus rolling backpack for a little while now and I've been loving using it so far.I haven't experienced the noisy wheel issue from a couple of other reviews though? The wheels on my particular bag run very smoothly. Perhaps the wheels have been fitted badly on those ones. It appears the wheel part can be dismantled if the wheels ever need replacement or you want to fit custom ones. The backpack is a lot bigger than I was expecting, larger than my old laptop backpack. The extra space is a welcome thing though. There are foam padding layers all around the bag, hidden in seams, which provides some nice padding for whatever you have inside. One of the side net pockets is very big and comes in useful for holding a large drink bottle,or I've even fit a large coffee container in it. The net pocket on the other side is about large enough to hold a standard soft drink can.The 'file' pockets in the front compartment are unfortunately not removable (as I have no use for them) and are sown into the bag. They flatten against the divider though so it's not a big issue. The build of the bag is excellent, nice and solid, clean stitching and very little play in the telescopic arm. It should last a long time. Very pleased with the purchase overall.

Bought this bag for work purposes as i wanted the flexibility of being able to wheel it around when possible to save my back and shoulders and use it as a rucksack in city centres. The bag is a perfect size to carry a laptop and file (I managed to get a lever arch in there) as well as power pack and a few essentials - purse, phone, toiletries, hairbrush, a pack of sandwiches, a pair of heels to change into (admittedly when carrying a smaller A4 file), earmuffs(it was cold!) etc. At a push you could probably squeeze in a couple of items of clothing for an overnight stay. There are plenty of pockets for your knick-knacks, so it stayed organised. Front section zips completely open so you can pack it like a suitcase.Internally there is a handy little padded pouch with a handle for your laptop, so when I got to the office i took this out of the bag and used that to move my laptop and papers when moving from office to office instead of taking the whole bag. Wheels didn't seem particularly noisy to me. handy flap to cover the back straps when wheeling along (or wheels when carrying). I've tried a few and this is the first bag i've been totally happy with. All in all, very good indeed.

I bought this about a year ago for work. I travel a lot, carrying a heavy laptop, papers and sometimes overnight kit. The wheels make it so easy to get around and save my poor back and knees from a lot of overload! It's a bit noisy, but not too bad, and it's very light and easy to pull and manoeuvre. The rucksack function is perfect when stairs mean the wheels are impractical, it's comfy to wear and provides an even load. The wheel covers stop business kit getting grubby, and the conversion either way takes seconds. The case has been used extensively and still works perfectly, no real signs of wear and tear apart from scuffing to the wheels, which you'd expect, and still looks smart.I've also carried it as hand luggage on a plane twice and never had any concerns about its size. Finally, the padded case for the laptop as well as the rigid back structure provide great protection for delicate kit. I've recommended to lots of colleagues and would certainly buy again if I ever need a replacement. Highly impressed.

Love this bag! I have like many people tried numerous laptop bags/backpacks/wheeled combinations but never found the right fit. My bag needs to be a mobile office with all that that entails, files, notebooks, headsets, chargers, laptop, pens business cards etc. Unfortunately that adds up to a lot of gear to carry around and as a petite lady it can be a struggle to carry and lift especially when on trains rather than in a car. Not a problem anymore! This bag takes all my gear in individual compartments leaving me room to stuff a water bottle and umbrella into the sides. It rolls easily, feels relatively light to lift and isn't so cumbersome/bulky that I am worried about getting it into overhead lockers on public transport.I've only had it a few weeks so can't comment on durability but nothing is noticeably deteriorating so far and I have used it relatively harshly. In actual fact so far I feel like I have got a bargain compared to the more expensive versions that I was about to start considering.

It's a great bag for work, travel or students! There are three good compartments and it's not too big and bulky for taking on the bus or train. And the wheels make it perfect when you have to take a lot of this with you. Meaning no back ache or switching arms because you are tired.I am a student doing my post grad to become a teacher and I needed a bigger bag than the one I was taking to uni for my placement, and my friend bought this bag and when I looked at it I was worried that there wasn't enough sections and would be too big or too small. But I took the plunge, bought it and it's the perfect size I can fit my laptop a big A4 ring folder plus a lunchbox extra paper work and still have room for essential stuff like purse, keys and phone. And the bag isn't over stuffed there is still space.Safe to say the more you fill it the heavier it gets, but for the short amount of time that I will be carrying it, this bag is perfect.

An excellent choice of Roller Bag for anyone on a budget. This case is well made with a tough weather resistant material exterior and has plenty of room for a laptop of up to 16 inch screen size, plus loads of additional space for a whole day's worth of college books etc. The handle extends smoothly and is robust and comfortable to use - even for tall people. The bag is stable on its wheels when pulling it along over most surfaces and stands upright when at rest. The handle stows away neatly when not in use. A minor plus point is that the zipper has loops to enable using a small security padlock if you feel the need to.Yes you could pay three times more for "gucci" designer looks if you'd prefer to - but this one will most likely do the same job and save the pain of lugging a very heavy shoulder bag around when fully loaded - and it should outlive whatever college / uni course you're undertaking and not break the bank.

I bought this after having to return a Maximum Cabin size bag which frayed after 2 uses. When I first saw it it looked too small, however, I've found I can pack the same gear in this pack and still have space for keys/ passes/ gum/ drink in the outside pockets. The removable laptop bag is great too. It holds two folded shirts perfectly, they don't get too squeezed but come out looking like they have been professionally pressed, my laptop goes elsewhere in the pack - a few options there.I have used it weekly as a backpack on my bike, then hand luggage on domestic flights, it has served me very well on over 100 3 day trips. I wouldn't say it looks new but everything works still, no holes anywhere, and mine appears to be fairly waterproof from its use use on the bike on wet days. For me anyway it's been close to perfect for my needs, so credit where it's due as I'm very happy with it.

I've just started am enforced working from home regime which requires me to schlep around London with laptop at the ready, huge piles of paperwork to lug around and generally feeling like a pack horse on behalf of my employers who have now done away with offices. This bag has saved my life! It's sturdy yet doesn't weigh a tonne, holds so much stuff it really is my 'office'. Laptop, charger, iPad, ream of paper, project folder stuffed to the gunnels, lunch, energy drinks, two mobiles, emergency makeup, spare shoes, Filofax and still got more room to add more 'stuff' as required and I can still drag it along behind me easily or put it on my back when using London train terminals.Everyone who workswith me wants one as I'm the only one not looking like the Hunchback of Notre Dame!It looks good enough for business and its hip enough for weekends away. Perfect!

This is the 3rd case from Targus that I have had in the last ten years but it is the first new one,as all the others were hand me downs. Overall I am very happy with these and they do what I want. I am a copier engineer and they carry my tools as well as a 15”laptop. Both the previous ones wheels were wobbly but functional after quite a lot of use. Likewise the zips started to play up and not fasten properly. Used every work day I would expect to get 3 years or more from them. For the price that is more than acceptable. After 5 months the wheels split. Their diameter has reduced so that the bottom of the case was catching all the time and case became unusable. Purchased a set of 75mm suitcase repair wheels .What a difference. These are rubber rather than ridiculous hard plastic originals. Case is let down badly by using these inferior original wheels.

I travel all over the world and was issued one of these by my employer. I really can't imagine anything being more perfect for the job. If you already have one other large case then you will be extremely thankful of having wheels on this one, it makes all that queuing and rushing to your gate SO much easier! And I have never once even *thought* about the noise it makes. ;-) In rucksack mode it is extremely comfy too.My laptop (Dell Latitude D830, a fairly large beast) is kept very safely within, and there is LOADS of space and handy storage compartments for all your bits and pieces when travelling. It's fitted in every overhead locker I've used with ease too. It even has a water bottle holder on the side. It's like they've thought of everything!Therfore I have no hesitation in giving this 5 stars. (I don't work for Targus, honestly!)

I can't really fault this for the price, but I have two issues.Firstly, I had to send back the first one I received because one of the zips didn't close behind the zip. This couldn't be fixed because of how the zip was sewn in and I was worried about important items falling out on transit.Secondly, I previously had a targus bag which did me great service for four years of heavy work use (or thereabouts) and this version is missing some of the original bag's features. Specifically, there's no pocket on the inside of the front flap, and the front zip only has one zip, rather than two on the same zipper. This means that the front pocket is less useful and the zip dangles on the ground when closed (it can't be closed with the zips together at the top. That said,it's a good looking bag and does good service for the price.

Absolutely brilliant product, genuinely saving my back. I work in Production and Live Events, and am currently having to bring my laptop into work on top of many other "necessary" items. Whilst commuting this is a dream. The wheels are very loud, but the moment you can get over that it's not so much of a bother. I'd rather wheel around a loud wheelie rucksack at the cost of saving my back. Makes a brilliant Coat stand when you're in the Bar for post work drinks too.The loud wheels are my only downfall, along with wishing the material was more waterproof. I've not had a problem with this yet as I've been careful to stay out of the rain when possible. I'm also aware I may have to change the wheels in the foreseeable future, which is fine, I just have to research how and keep an eye out for when.

I travel a lot, and had been using a Samsonite rolling overnight bag. Which, for something with such a large footprint held surprisingly little and looked as if I was running away from home. I replaced it with the Citygear Roller and couldn't be more pleased. It holds everything I need; laptop, books and papers, glasses, pens, cables etc. with room to spare. It has been incredibly well thought out, with protection at the bottom when using the wheels to the flap that comes down to protect you from those dirty wheels if you use it as a back pack. The handle is sturdy with a smooth action both up and down and the wheels run freely and smoothly. I've had it a month and 3 of my colleagues have now bought one are are all equally as pleased as I am.I cannot recommend this strongly enough.

If you want a briefcase on wheels with file compartments rather than a suitcase with clothes compartment then this is the solution. The larger rear compartment could hold a few overnight items, but is better-suited to paperwork (pardon the pun). This is the best price by a long shot for similar items. My previous wheeled case (American Tourister) had thicker padding and lining and the frontal stationary compartment had a two-way zip like the larger sections which is preferable when accessing bags that remain upright, so this could be improved, but it rolls freely and has strong carry handles when needed. Strong outer fabric. Pull handle extends for tall peops. Carry all your office kit with no strain.Sorted.
