This was a present for our son whose previous rucksack had been a smaller version of the 24-7 line. He had used it everyday since he got it a few years ago and had stood up well to the demands he had placed upon it. Unfortunately the zip had gone on that and he asked for a replacement, preferably the same one. Given the nature of his job (RSPB Warden) he needs a quality rucksack that will see all forms of weather and will be roughly manhandled on a daily basis. Thus we decided to order this larger model from the same line. We found the cheapest version through Amazon via the Millets Marketplace Store.Absolutely delighted on all accounts. We were a little concerned with the lateness of our ordering, that it may not arrive in time but we neednt have feared. Delivery was super quick (three days from ordering in the week before Christmas) and we just used the standard delivery service. The package that arrived was one of those strong blue plastic envelopes whilst the rucksack itself was in a clear bag within that. No issues at all. To be honest I was very impressed with the service I received. The 30 litre size was a 10 litre increase on the previous model he had used although looking at the rucksack externally it didnt look it (at least to my eyes). However, when it came to be loaded, the extra 10 litres quickly became apparent. The bag still looked a similar size to his old one when on the back but he had packed everything he usually carried and so much more into it besides. Very impressive really. He also said that it felt very comfortable and strong with good zips that opened easily and gave the impression of quality. I guess only time will tell on that. All in all, from what I could tell and from my sons comments, I would say that this is a quality, mid-price rucksack, ideal for my sons needs, ideal as a commuting to work bag, ideal for a day trip away or a day of light walking rather than heavy hiking. So why the four stars and not five. Simple really. Had the rucksack contained a built in waterproof cover then it would have been given the extra star but it hasnt and so thats that. Now I know you can buy relatively cheaply waterproof covers as a extra but it would still hhave been nice to have one built into this quality bag.We are all walkers in our family and both our sons work in the ecological field so we regularly need good quality equipment. We are not a family of blind allegience to one particular brand like so many are today, but rather we seek the best quality for the job its required for. In this case - to date - the Berghaus 24-7 Plus is that bag. If it appears that its not then you dear reader will know as soon as I do.

Initial review (Nov 2015):Probably the best fitting rucksack I've ever had (and I've had others more expensive than this one). Replaces my similar sized previous day-to-day pack. Carrying the same items, feels lighter - more than likely due to the better fit.Not taken it anywhere to assess how the back channel helps with sweat, but so far the contour provides an excellent fit.Update (Feb 2018):Having a myriad of specific purpose bags, I also wanted a bag to cover most events. Indeed over the past 2 years the Berghaus 30L 24/7 has been a great choice for me.Summary:Great load capacity without looking bulky empty or full. Its a master for city, beach and outdoor walk days. Competent go to work bag.Surprisingly adaptable for photography. Proven robust from its great condition (still near new look). If you want to read the details:Used daily since I got it: work, planes (fits bottom compartment loaded), on holiday, to the beach, to hills, camping, photography.I’ve also used it to transport a 17” laptop beast in the past, though not in the laptop pouch. Just squeezes in the bag height-wise.For work mode, laptop on laptop slot, extra coat/food on back area, and extras/music gear on front section. The laptop slot at the bottom has a gap of 4cm or so to the floor to help prevent the laptop hitting surfaces every time you put the bag down. Works very well.Out for the day mode, often with camera gear. Where I think birding opportunities or long distance shots are expected, that includes a large tele-lens where the depth of the back compartment just fits the camera with lens+hood attached). Other lenses go next to it (in neoprene individual bags), and an outdoors coat for rain. All in the back section. The front pocket then used for food mainly. I’ve got other tog bags, depending what I’m doing so choosing this frequently says a lot.For general outdoors and city its similar, minus carrying a long lens :)In all, I’ve found it brilliant for an all day with the family as a great medium size, not bulky, very comfortable and adjustable. Also very importantly not shouting to all on the occasions when carrying expensive equipment in the bag! (Whether work or photography)Seriously considering buying another as a reserve.

This is a great bag, exceeded expectations.I had been looking at North Face offerings but I wasn't prepared to spend the silly amounts of money they command.I found this bag on Amazon, the reviews were very favorable and I thought it looked great with the red tassles. The bag itself is very generous with space it has a large section at the back that will happily accommodate a laptop and a fair bit more on top of that. It has a separator in this section too so if you aren't lugging a laptop about you can use it to hold something else (I think it's actual intention is to hold the optional hydration pack as this area is directly below the opening in the top of the bag or the hydration hose to go through. There is a large front section too, this has a section separated into two halves for smaller items, this is one area i feel could be better, ie. pen holders, seal able pocket for cash maybe but to be honest it really isn't a massive problem. The two side pockets for water etc are good and deep so will hols a fair sized bottle. The back is well thought out to ensure that you don;t end up with a hot sweaty back after hours of carrying it and the straps are comfortable too.All in all (and for the price I paid) I am very happy with this bag, I had a gift voucher too so the actual cost to me was a third of what the North Face bag I had considered would have cost me.Can highly recommend it.

I have been using this rucksack for a few months now on my daily commute to work and on 3 trips to the middle east. It replaced a Jeep rucksack that lasted over 10 years before a zip broke. I am very pleased with this rucksack, it is very comfortable to wear and is large enough for my needs. It looks good and having been rained on a few times, it has kept its contents dry though I have invested in a waterproof cover in case of torrential downpours. The slight criticisms I have with this rucksack are:The flap on the top for the hydration tube is large and gapes open and could let moisture in. When walking it does puff air through the flap on your neck which is not unpleasant.I bought the black rucksack and what looks like red trim in the pictures is actually an alarming pink in real life.I am not a chap who is worried by this but other gentlemen may be.A lack of compartments means it can be difficult to retrieve your belongings as they are mixed up together at the bottom.I discovered a small section of stitching was undone on one of the straps today but does not show or affect the structure of the bag.I have given it 5 stars as overall it is excellent and despite the minor points above, I am very happy with my purchase.

This is a really nice bag. I've been using mine for about a month. I mostly use it for shopping and commuting, but also for day hikes and days out.I like that it's really flexible - the strings on the front are great for putting a climbing or bike helmet, but you can also tuck your coat in there if the weather might be bad, without using up space in your bag, and for easy access. The two pockets at the side are great for drinks bottles, or anything else you need fast access to, and seem sturdy! You can attach your walking poles to this - I don't have any personally but I think that's a great touch. There are a nice number of sections in the bag, including a large pocket for your water bladder if you use one.The front section has lots of little bits and bobs, and a clip for your keys. The zips are also smooth (which is something I've had issues with in other bags). All in all I think it's a good bag and worth the money if it doesn't wear out in the next couple of years :)

I wanted a medium sized backpack for hiking and a trip to the USA, but didn't want it to be too bulky or look big. This bag is perfect for that. It has a huge main compartment with a pocket at the back, and a large front compartment that is about half the size of the main. The drawstrings at the front allow for securing the main and front compartments, and there are plenty of pockets in the front to store individual items, or keep things separate. The cushioning on the back is perfect, with a design to allow air flow to keep it aerated - which actually works! The only downside is that the bottom of the back is not padded, so unless you have a laptop bag that inserts into this (which I do luckily),I wouldn't recommend putting a laptop in there without something else cushioning it below. The bag itself is well manufactured, strong and sturdy, with a waterproof outer. Excellent quality material.

It's a well made small backpack, the quality of the materials is clear and I feel that it will last quite a while even though it will be getting very regular usage. I will be using it as a bikers back pack and it just about big enough to carry my work bits and bobs. I like the segregated main section as its just the right size to put my Ipad in. The smaller section at the front also has a several built in pockets which are handy but would definitely benefit from zip or Velcro closures as anything loose can spill into the rest of the bag, (lost 1 star due to this oversight). The bag is reasonably adjustable and quite comfy. There are plenty of places to hang things from using the bungee cords across the back and the bottle holders on each side are nice and deep. All in all a decent commuter pack or for a light days walking, but nothing more serious than that.

Cracking quality rucksack. Bought this a cabin bag / day back when i go on holiday(s). I wanted a rucksack that both looked good but was also of sufficient quality to be reliable to use when abroad or going on a place. This ticks all the boxes that i need. The 30 litre bag is enough to get a few items of clothing and some shoes in which the rear wall of the rucksack is padded with foam so you wont feel annoying hard objects digging into your back so easily. Another feature i like aside from the generic elastic strings and mesh side pockets is the clip between the shoulder straps meaning once you have both shoulder straps on that cannot slip off your shoulders as there is a horizontal clip between the two if you wish to use it.Overall this is probably the best rucksack i have owned. Great purchase and worth the few extra quid over the cheaper ones.

This is a very light, water resistant, 30L day pack / ruck sack. Ideal for when out and about or trekking. It is well made with two zipped sections at the front and two, open top, side pockets. The two zipped sections are further compartmentalised; the one nearest your back into two, the other one into four; one full depth, one full width to the depth of about a wallet or purse and the third and fourth are the full width, divide into two compartments. At the top there is a (quite large) slit for a water tube. Zips are okay, with attachments so they are easy to use (even if you're wearing gloves or have cold hands). There is also a neat little bungee system on the front to attach light weight items which you may want to access quickly while on a hike.Back is well padded, with a is a hip strap, for extra stability. Looks good too!

I bought this bag to replace a back pack I'd previously owned for about 6 years before unceremoniously melting whilst washing it. D'oh!I needed something large, with plenty of compartments for organisation, plenty of padding for me to overfill it, and it needed to be pretty hard wearing as well. I think this fits the bill pretty well! It's huge, so comfy that I forget I'm wearing it (also comes with a chest strap which comes in handy on those ridiculously windy hikes up snowdon). It's easy to organize, with various pockets in the front section, a key clip, and a large pocket in the back section.Plus my dog kicked sand into it on the beach and it was easy enough to get that out, thankfully,so it's pretty easy to maintain/clean too.

This rucksack is perfect for my needs. So much so, I bought this one for the future, as I all already use one I bought back in 2015. It came up as a good price so why not. I work as a guide and this bag lives on my back. It really is comfortable. It can hold so much stuff and sometimes I have to stop filling it because it becomes to heavy. When it gets dirty or smelly I put it in the washing machine on a cool wash and it dries really quickly, just hang it in the wind. So my 2015 one is going strong and I think will be around for a few more seasons to come. You won't be disappointed if you buy this bag. Travel light and this 30L bag with hold stuff you need for few days away. I Love It,can you tell!

I purchased this bag for work/university, needed a large for all my paper work and books. This bag is ideal and large enough to pack for family days out, wandering the country side and picnics. Two main zip compartments, various sized internal pockets for storage of small items as well as two external pockets for drinks bottles etc...There is also a handy H2O hole in the top of the bag for a hydration system to be used. I cannot remember if the outer material is water proof or not, however I have been caught out in the rain numerous times and the contents of my bag have never gotten wet. The feel of the bag is strong and sturdy, a bag for life!

I've had the backpack for almost year and used it daily. Mostly used it for commuting to work and carrying groceries. I've taken it for a few weekend trips too as cabin bag and it works great for that too.I was mostly looking for bag I can use day to day but would also make a good day-pack for hiking trips/holidays and this works great. The size is perfect. It's roomy without being bulky. And there's space on the sides to keep your bottle, so you don't have to take it off when reaching for waterIt has held up great considering how much I used it. There's basically no wear and tear.Would definitely recommend this

If you would like a Berghaus Rucksack which offers a worthwhile increase in capacity - total 30 litre - compared to the usual 20 or 25 litre then you should buy this. I already own a Berghaus 25 litre sack and wanted some extra over the shoulder carrying space for short trips away. Using the two bags together when travelling does the job in a more convenient manner than traditional suitcases - even the wheeled variety. My only criticism is that I had to spend a while removing external cords and the chest strap which were of no use to me. Otherwise the usual good Berghaus quality at an attractive price. Recommended.

After owning this rucksack for about 4 years now, its probably time to give it some praise.I've taken it everywhere, from school and uni to camping trips and long hikes, through sun and pouring rain and I'm very pleased with how its stood up to it all. There is obviously some wear on it after all this time, but it still very sturdy. Its somewhat water resistant, but id advise you to buy a bag cover with it if youre planning on going out in the rain. It is definitely very spacey, I'm always amazed by how much I can actually fit in it and how normal it looks while relatively empty. It's definitely done me well!
