Edited August 12 2015 - it's nice when people come back to their reviews!Still love it. After countless office days, customer visits, airports security controls, trips to beaches, forests (yep, go figure), boats and whatever else abuse I've manage to through at it, still going strong. I had one small pierce (for insisting to close with something to big and sharp inside) and one zipper on the side pocket coming out (again my own doing, I am not careful with stuff).Original November 8 2012I looked for a long time for a well sized and smart looking back pack for using on business trips. If you don't have patience for a long review stick to the five topics. If you want to know why they were graded as they were, keep on scrolling.Overall, love it. Well recommended.Space 4/5Protection for Laptop: 5/5Built Quality: 5/5Comfort 5/5Style - subjective, not grading.>>> Space 4/5Pros:I have a Quick Silver back pack that I cherish and love, but the thing is huge, I mean turtle looking thing when on your back. For that reason I was looking for something smaller but with enough space for a 14" laptop, a SRL camera, my A4 note book and general bits and bobs. The Case Logic accommodates all that just fine. Yes, it fills it up nearly to its maximum capacity, but you can handle everything with ease without having to squeeze things in.The side pockets are particularly nice in this bag. They are very important for me as I like to keep a few things always handy such as my keys, cigarettes (I know, I know, leave me alone) and iPod. The zippers are upside down, in other words they open towards the bottom, what makes very easy and comfortable to reach for the pockets with the both straps over your shoulders. Not a con not a pro:Note that the side pockets will welcome a bottle/thermal mug without any problem, unless the thing is fully packed. The side covers are not elastic and therefore these pockets take some of the internal space when full. Not to worry but to be noted.Cons:The only thing to fault on the space section is that I would like to have a few more internal sections for things like USB sticks, cables, business cards, etc.The outer section has slots for 3 pens, a zipped pouch and two pockets that will fit a classic iPod size thing/external hard drive. For me that's not quite enough as I have to carry my bank password generator, business cards and a WD Passport external hard drive. So my bank generator and business cards share a pocket - not ideal. Not a deal breaker either.______________________________>>> Protection for Laptop: 5/5The padded part for the laptop is big enough for my TravelMate 6292 and iPad with plenty of room left.Regarding bottom padding is more than sufficient to protect everything if your sensible enough to not just drop it from your shoulder onto the floor. I am a very clumsy fellow and had no problems so far.No cons in here.______________________________>>> Built Quality: 5/5Pros.The thing feels and looks sturdy and strong. The material used has a nice enough touch feel and everything seems to be sewed together in a proper manner. The internal linen is quite nice and on a light grey colour which helps find the tiny little stuff. No cons.______________________________>>> Style - subjective, not grading.I really like how it looks. As I said in the beginning the main purpose was to use it for business even when visiting customers. It looks serious enough to pass as an executive back pack, and smart enough not to bore you to death like a Samsonite.______________________________>>> Comfort 5/5Pros.The straps connect on the top which spreads the load nicely over your shoulders and back. They are also quite broad helping in the same way. It's quite light so it won't add to your load.No cons.

Bought this because it looked quite compact and I only wanted something small to fit a 13" ultra-book, power cord, mouse, and maybe a few files. What arrived was a little bigger than I expected (still quite compact just not as small as the photos and description suggested) and quality seems to be around the 'middle-of-the-road' as far as laptop bags go. A few extra pockets that I thought might be gimmicky turned out to be quite OK, especially the lined pocket at the top which is good for a 2.5" external drive (although Case Logic suggests using it for sunglasses). While the shoulder straps have vented mesh, the surface that mounts against the back is just the basic padded nylon so I expect this will sweat against the back on a warm day.Padding is also quite minimal in that area so I don't expect it to be too comfortable if I load it up or carry it too far.The 13" Acer ultra-book sits with quite a bit of space around it and although the description states 14" PC/13" Macbook, I also have a 15.6" widescreen and that sits in the bag with maybe a millimeter or two to spare. In fact, I am able to fit both laptops in the bag although the ultra-book ends up in the un-padded compartment. My one complaint is that there is no way of strapping the ultra-book down into the laptop pocket and so it's free to move about and while this isn't too big of a problem when the bag is upright, there is no padding at the top of the bag where the zip is so if it fell and landed upside down, it could drop into the unprotected area and get damaged. I will probably sew a Velcro strap into the lining to keep it in place. All in all, not a bad bag for carting the ultra-book around, not too cumbersome, has a bit of style/shape to it, and the main zip (larger and sturdier than the ones on the accessory pockets) looks as though it can take a hammering.I bought this at $19 so got very good value for money spent.EDIT: April 13, 2013.This bag has been everywhere with me since purchasing. It's copped a hammering and like the Timex ad, it's copped a lickin' and still keeps on tickin'. There are no visible signs of wear. The small lined pouch gets used for keeping mp3 player, headphones, memory cards and USB sticks safe, works well, and is conveniently located. The small side pockets get used for a first aid kits on one side and sweets on the other (not much use for anything bigger).Especially like being able to load it up with a 13" ultrabook as well as a 15.7" widescreen laptop as well as chargers. It gets full and it is heavy, but the bag copes exceptionally well with no sign of seam splitting or zipper dameage.

I was looking for a bag that could fit my 15.6" laptop and a few other everyday items comfortably. Since I take public transit to work every day I didn't want a bag that was too big or bulky and could just fit essential items -- laptop, charger/cables, lunch, my kindle, and a notebook. This bag fits my needs perfectly. It appears to be well made and light-weight. I have only been consistently using it for a few weeks now, but I do not foresee any issues in terms of rips or zipper breaks. My back has never felt stressed by using this backpack and it rests comfortably when worn. The bag also has a nice look to it that is both casual but also allows it to pass in a professional way in which mostbackpacks could not.The main compartment has ample space for a laptop and a notebook while the front smaller pocket has been perfect for putting my lunch in. I don't really use the small accessory pocket on the top, but it has been a nice place to store my phone charger and phone on the off chance I don't have it in my pocket. The side pockets also provide additional space and are decent for fitting a standard size water or soda bottle. My two complaints: The side pockets work well for most items, but I wish that one of them were a little bigger or perhaps the mesh material that some backpacks have on the side. I haven't even tried bringing in my large Nalgene Water Bottle because I know there is no way it will fit in the side pocket. The top handle also seems to hold the weight awkwardly. I think the handle is more attached to the straps than to the actual bag so that when you grasp it, the weight falls down and forward rather than being squarely and securely in the middle. This may help the backpacks low profile and keep it feeling slimmer so it is not a huge complaint, but just something of note. For the price of ~$30 this backpack is a steal for anyone who wants to carry everyday essentials without excessive bulk.Pros:Well constructedLow profile, medium-sized, not too bulkyLight-weight, comfortablePriceLots of pockets for organizationStylishCons:Side pockets bad for larger water bottlesTop handle seems to hold weight awkwardlyCould be too small for someOverall, this backpack suits my everyday needs perfectly and is well worth the $32.44 I spent on it. Students or people who need extra amounts of space for textbooks or other materials should look elsewhere, but if you are looking for a medium-sized bag to fit everyday essentials, look no further. The cons to the pack are trivial enough to me that I do not hesitate from giving it 5 stars.

I purchased the Case Logic DLBP-114 backpack after a couple nights of web research while watching TV. I was looking for a bag that would give a somewhat professional look (I know, sometimes at a certain point a backpack for a working adult can only look so professional). I had been using a messenger bag but I wanted to be able to disperse weight over both shoulders and not have a bag that banged against my leg when I walked.Things I looked for in a backpack:- Professional look (no bright color or loud pattern)- Smaller footprint (I'm not a student looking to carry books and lunch)- Price ($25-35 range)- Good styleI have had the bag just over a month and I am really loving the backpack.I got it for just under $24 so the price was right. The black color is great and the touch of red isn't too loud (being in Lincoln, Nebraska, red is quite popular so it works even in a professional environment for most people). I like the cosmetic cross stitching on the front pocket, it gives a nice look and breaks it up versus an all flat look. For me (6'1" male) the backpack is comfortable and the straps sit well. I love the addition of built in Velcro straps to wrangle in the excess strap length. The smaller footprint is the biggest selling point on the bag for me. It is only about 7 inches deep (as in the space from your back out horizontally while wearing it) but has plenty of space. So many backpacks stick out far and make you look like a student or like you are going on a trek. Also the bigger the bag gets the more I fill it, adding weight. I keep a 13" Macbook Air, iPad Mini, Jambox speaker, Nintendo 2ds, 5 pens/pencils, 4 small gadget bags (chargers, usb drives, adapters), a notebook, keys, wallet, gum, chap-stick and always have a bit more space for other random things. The laptop portion has ok protection.I am considering buying another one to keep in storage for a couple years from now as a replacement since I use the bag five days a week at a minimum. It's an amazing bag and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a smaller backpack that still has a couple organizational pockets in it.

I went for this product with the idea that it was a durable, light weight laptop backpack big enough to fit a 16" laptop yet still slim enough not to be huge and overbearing. I was completely correct.I purchased this to accompany my new Asus n53sv-A2 which, for a 15.6" laptop, seemed a little bigger than I had expected. It's almost a tight fit as the "laptop pouch" within the back pocket doesn't extend all the way to the bottom of the backpack, and because of this it zips up a little tight around the corners of the laptop. The backpack itself only has 5 pockets. The front most pocket is deep and somewhat slim yet spacious. It has a zippered pocket for pencils etc,as well as three specific pen/pencil holders and two little square pockets that I could snugly fit my passport in. It's spacious enough that I can fit a large handful of cables at the bottom and still put in 2 xbox controllers, yet slim enough that you wouldn't realize all of that is in there. The next pocket, working towards the straps, is a small velvet-like pocket designed for portable media. It holds my Cowon J3, and, when vertical, barely zips up. I could probably fit 3 of them side by side and that would take up about the entire pocket. Next is the main pocket. With my laptop in it, I can also very snugly fit in an Xbox 360 slim, as well as the power adapter needed. It won't fit anymore than that. But even with this pack filled up it still doesn't look very huge or bulky. The last two pockets are the small side pockets. I was able to fit my Samsung NV24HD digital camera, in a tight fitting case, with it's charging cable into one of these pockets, and that is all it will hold. Knowing what I wanted and expecting what I did, the only thing that leaves much to be desired is the padding. Although It's fine for me (6' tall, weigh 270lbs, solidly built), some people may find it feels like it doesn't have padding at all.All in all it's what I expected and because of that, and how it has handled my needs, I give it 4 stars.Pros:SlimSturdyit is what it looks likecons:Lack of paddingmay not be spacious enough for some

I am a disabled person on a wheelchair, finding a good backpack is quite complicated since i have a very active life and require a backpack that is both light-weight (as to not burden my chair and hempen the transfer in my car) and large enough to fit enough stuff and a 17'' laptop.I've been using another CaseLogic backpack for a long time now, one designed specially for wheelchairs. It had it's merits in terms of design, but also a huge drawback - it basically had only 1 big section and it was impossible to organize my things inside. That pack got severely used tho and the model is discontinued, so i've been looking for a replacement for a while. We were pondering this one with my wife, since it seemed very nice in design, and quite small. Reviews were all great too, and one guy had made a very nice video review on youtube, in which he shows the pack in detail. The only doubt we had was that in the description it says that it's meant to fit 13 to 14 inch laptops, and i have a 17 inch one. Looking at the video review tho, it seemed to us that there's actually quite a lot of space left once the reviewer put his iMac in the laptop compartment. So we decided to risk it and give it a try - Turns out the pack fits a 17'' laptop perfectly fine, without any stretching, deformation or anything. Only thing to consider if you use a 17 inch laptop is that it's not entirely covered by the special padding, there's a part that sticks out, but that shouldn't be a problem really, unless you smash your pack with something very heavy. And to be honest, the bigger laptop actually fits better, since there's less free space and it holds better in place.Other than that, the pack is very well made, beautiful and stylish, with a lot of different pockets and places to organize your things. It remains very light, so if you roll fast with your wheelchair, it doesn't "flap" behind, hitting you in the back because of the inertia (wheelchair users will understand).Highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a well made, modern and stylish pack, with the option to fit even larger laptops.

Bought this for my MacBook 13" a few months ago, not providing review until I had used the bag.At first, when I pulled the backpack out of the box, I thought it looked bigger than I had pictured it to be, but after using it, it really is slimline - probably because the front of the bag doesn't bulge like my other regular backpacks - it keeps its shape. The material, to me, is strong and well-made. Zips do not feel cheap either - some bags I've experienced the zips to stick and even break. The pouch that carries the computer is wider than I've seen in other laptop carriers so there is 'room' around the laptop. My Mac fits right into the pouch (my 17" didn't but I had to try!)so it's totally protected from being scratched or damaged. The pouch is directly on the side that rests on your back so provides more firmer support for the computer and your back. The main zipped area where the computer stays is still large enough to store other electronics. If you have a larger battery pak, reader, tablet, etc. these would fit in there no problem. I have put my lunch in there with my purse/wallet and have also stuffed a light rain jacket - plenty of room for such a small, compact bag!One thing I would change about this, is the lining of the small zipped pocket at the top of the bag. When I open the main area, the lining of this pocket gets in the way so I'm going to sew the bottom of it into the lining (it's where I keep the charger). The front zipped area has lots of little compartments and some more space to stash a few more items. There's 2 small side pockets that I use for my keys, phone charger and anything I need to get at quickly. The shoulder padding is sufficient and the balance of the bag on my shoulders and across my back makes carrying this very easy - sometimes seems I don't even have the backpack on.I'd give it five stars if they had made the top pocket less flappable inside and maybe put an area on the straps to keep my phone, otherwise it's a great little bag.

I am replacing my old belkin backpack which lasted me several years. I had several options to choose from which included this one, Samsonite, and incase. I have a few accessories (mouse, power cord, extra battery, usb flash drives) plus I like to carry my gym close around so I wanted something large enough for me to carry these things. So it was important to have room and not to mention look stylish doing it.The Samsonite one I looked at was a very close winner. In fact, I was in line at the store about to checkout with it when something told me I could find something I would like more somewhere else. So I put the backpack back and left. The Incase backpacks look really nice but I don't like spending that much money on a backpack I bring to work. This one seemed just right. After I received it, I put all my usual belongings in there and it didn't stretch out my backpack which is a plus. Seemed like it had extra room too even after my clothes. It had the feel of a regular backpack and the cushioning was very standard around the 15.6" laptop I have. I wish they had some top cushioning in case I somehow flipped my backpack or maybe even a strap to lock it in place so it doesn't slide out.The straps were very neat. Seemed like the usual straps which they are but they made it so that you don't have loose straps hanging around and it seems to ensure that they won't come undone or loose by accident. This also has a little extra cushion at the bottom of the pack so that it won't hurt your tail bone region.I liked how you have 4 different compartments to put all your things so you don't get them all mixed together. My old pack didn't have that. It's a good back pack over all. I'm glad it was in my price range too.

After I bought my Kindle, I needed to replace my regular purse as the extra weight was taxing the purse straps. This has fit the bill! The only thing I miss is an outside pocket for quickly stashing receipts, shopping lists, etc. However, it has enough pockets that I can keep my stuff organized. In the laptop section, I can keep my Kindle, charging cord, MP3, etc. In the section next to that one, I can keep my makeup, etc. I don't use the pocket which is intended for sunglasses for my sunglasses, as the pocket is too small to fit them. However, it makes a great place to put a small packet of tissues, etc. The small outside pocket on one side holds my cellphone and lipstick. The pocket on the other side, holds my thumbdrives, a small calculator, etc. The pocket on the front has my wallet, checkbook, calendar, etc. Since I am concerned about pickpockets, I have put a very small (luggage size) combination lock on the pocket with my wallet. I don't always keep it locked, but when I am in crowds or might be easily distracted, I do lock it. Inside the front pocket there are designated places to put pencils and pens, a small note pad plus another small pockets to stow whatever you need to. Inside the section where I keep my wallet (the one with the lock on it) there is another zippered pocket. I keep my credit cards in there. I haven't used it as a backpack yet (I just toss it over my shoulder), so I haven't needed to adjust the length of the straps. However, the fact that the excess "tail" on the straps can be secured is a very nice feature. Keeps the long tail from just flapping around. Overall, very please with my purchase. It seems to be very well made and I expect it to last a long time. Time will tell though.

Don't usually give reviews, but thought it would be good to give this one a go... A 3.5 star reviewComing up to 2 years of having this bag amd still going strong.I agree with what most 5 star and 4 star reviewers have said.Generally a solid backpack with an easy-to-the-eye look (something I wanted, not like superdry bags where there are unneccessary strings in the front and what not, and not heavy duty looking like you work in construction or something)laptop (15.5 inch) fits perfectly. The pouch for laptop is padded well and have had no complaints from my laptop despite being dropped a few times...I can also fit a few magazines or an A4 pad of paper with my laptop (I can fit my tablet but isa tight squeeze with a case over the tab).Cons of this bag:-I would have liked for a few more compartments to store bits and bobs....i tend to carry a lot of small 'junk' which in the front compartment can get a bit messy (I would have to take everything out to find something) eg usb cables, card holders etc.-it would have been nice if the laptop compartment was collapsable or removable...i carry my bag around virtually everywhere...that does not mean i carry my laptop everywhere (for example if i was to visit a mates house)...in this instance, valuable space is lost and it makes it difficult to put everything in....For this you may say to buy another bag...but for me this bag is the most i have spent and for the money i expect to be able to use it in whatever situation.- although generally comfortable to wear, the back could be made a bit better to allow better airflow, though i guess that depends on individuals. Not listing pros as pretty much what other reviewers have said.

Short version: Fantastic Backpack at a fantastic price!Longer version: Prior to buying the Case Logic backpack, I had been looking for a LONG time for a backpack that combined a trio of key requirements:(1) Looked the part in a corporate environment(2) Had a good combination of zipped and inner pockets(3) Didn't cost the earth! If you pay enough, you can satisfy the above criteria with ease, but not everyone wants to be spending way north of £100 (or in some cases nearer double that) - I was beginning to wonder if there was a manufacturer that could put something together at a reasonable cost, and that's just when I stumbled across the Case Logic backpack!Let's look first at the trio of requirements:(1)Looks the part in a corporate environment - yes, does in spades - it's a matte black colour with some patterning on it, with red highlighting in some areas(2) Has a good combination of zipped and inner pockets - absolutely - there are three outer zipped pockets, and then two compartments - the main one has a separator for Laptop, and reasonable stowage for other items(3) Doesn't cost the earth - I think sub-£30 for this backpack is extremely reasonable given the quality of manufactureA few more positives also: the straps, which on some previous bags I've had appear to be made of Teflon, are very good on this bag. Also, the bag isn't too big, and is easily stowed in transit. And a few negatives (and it really is a few things only): there's no accounting for a water bottle of any kind. The case logic logo on the right strap seems out of place with the rest of the bagBut overall - great bag at a very good price!

After recommending this bag to many of my family and friends, I felt I should post my recommendation for the public to see. The Case Logic 14-Inch Laptop Backpack provides incredible utility and value for its price. This backpack has the versatility for a college student and the size for an airline traveler. As both, I can speak directly to the advantages this bag offers. For a college student, the Case Logic bag offers many compartments one would need while navigating a college campus. A padded laptop pocket provides protection to most common laptop sizes, while a large main pocket provides enough space for two or more large, college text books. As an airline passenger, in this day an age,we all are constantly trying to minimize extra baggage fees. The 14” laptop backpack is small enough to remain in compliance with airline “personal item” size regulations, and when coupled with a full size carry-on luggage piece, it allows you to completely avoid checked bags for most trips.I currently own two of these bags, one I has been in daily use for four years and still looks brand new. All the stitching and zippers remain intact, and the rugged fabric washes easily.Pros:Large, heavy duty zippersRugged fabric, with reinforced stitching at the seamsPadded laptop pocketSoft fabric lined sunglass pocketPadded shoulder strapsFront facing handle, perfect for maneuvering the bag in tight spaces, such as a classroom or airplaneCons:Side pockets have little use as they are too smallSide pockets are zippered, mesh would have been better to allow for a water bottlePen pockets are quite deep allowing for pens to get lost(jar)

I wanted a relatively compact rucksack that would take a 13 inch MacBook Pro or a Surface Pro 3 with keyboard attached, plus paraphernalia such as a paper A4 notebook, pens, a pack of whiteboard markers etc. Primarily this is for going to and from work and carrying my gear around from one meeting room to another. This fits the bill. Many laptop rucksacks are quite thick front-to-back, but this one is fairly slim, so this meets my needs exactly. The front zipped compartment contains 3 pen slots and various organiser pockets for a calculator and small items, so it’s quite good for organising my small bits and pieces. The top fleece-lined pocket is great for stashing my smartphone. One feature that in my opinion is missing is a strap for a key ring, but by threading a piece of cord through the label inside the front compartment I’ve improvised a key attachment point. I would also prefer a water bottle holder in place of one of the small side pockets, but you can’t have everything.Nice features are substantial handles on the top and near the bottom of the back, and a good system for avoiding trailing straps from the adjustable shoulder straps.I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, so I can’t comment on its long-term durability. Also, I’ve not used it outside in heavy rain, so I can’t comment on its waterproofness (I suspect a waterproof over-cover might be a good investment if you’re likely to be walking some distance in the rain). However, it seems to me to be good value for money, and reasonably well designed.

I purchased this bag in the black color. It's very stylish with it's dark black and red accents. Bag just barely fit my ASUS 16" laptop, but it holds it very securely. Bag distributes the weight very well, even when pretty heavily loaded up, it still feels light and comfortable. Plenty of compartments for accessories (some of which I haven't found a use for personally). I really like how the straps don't dangle and are held up in a bundle with Velcro. Some areas of the bag are made from a thicker, more durable type of material than others. Meanwhile, other areas the material feels a bit flimsy - however, haven't had any issues with it. The shoulder straps and back portion is very nicely padded.Straps are contoured nicely. Does not feel like carrying a traditional 'backpack', it's quite a bit more comfortable. One thing I wish it had was some dividers in the main large pocket to sort some papers and whatnot; though, that's probably not a big deal for most. I use this for work daily and it has proven very reliable and still looks great. Oh, the zippers are all very high quality, they really feel great, very smooth. For the price that Case Logic is asking for this bag, it's a fantastic deal and it will fit a large amount of laptops, 16" maximum (though I don't know if it will fit all 16", it barely fit my ASUS G60JX, but it's on the larger side).I've experienced zero issues with the build quality thus far and must highly recommend it for being: Dollar Friendly, Stylish, Convenient, and Comfortable.

I really like this backpack. I think most of what I love about the pack (the size, build etc.) is probably covered by other reviews, so I'm focusing on one thing I love: that front pocket. Most of my bags in the past had front pockets with zippers that zipped almost all the way down, exposing the whole pocket. This bag's has a small pocket at the very front (a friend suggested keeping a snack bar in there or something similar...probably best to keep a work id in), and a secondary storage area. That secondary pocket's zippers won't go all the way down. That pocket measures about 9" wide by 12" deep - but only zips down about 6". It's perfect for my date book, old graphing calculator, and a friend's small tablet (about the size of a small Kindle or Nook), among other things (little bottles of lotion and hand sanitizer are in mine). The depth, plus the limited zipping, helps me to avoid unzipping too far and dropping my calculator and other assorted smallish things that I don't want dropping (and possibly cracking/loosing) on the floor. Plus this area has another zippered pocket inside this one. I can see how it might inconvenience some, but works perfectly for me!I don't think this is a bag for everyone - a student may find it suitable if they basically need a notebook, a small notebook/tablet pc, and one or two regular-sized textbook. After that, you start having to figure out how much you really want to take with you and the order in which you will pack it. But the bag suits my needs perfectly.
