I like this backpack, it's large and spacious, exactly as depicted. It's definitely a cool/cute backpack, but in terms of functionality I've found it to be a little cumbersome with the magnetic latches. The magnets are strong enough (a good thing) where you can't easily yank the straps open, but when you're trying to get quick access to the main pouch or the small front pocket it gets a bit clunky and cumbersome. Though strong, the magnets are small, so when trying to relatch the straps to the magnets it takes a few tries. I just find myself fumbling at lot more with the magnetic latches than I thought I would (probably just user error/stupidity, but hey, thought it'd be worth pointing out).For me, it's one of those bags that looks great and gets a lot of compliments, but doesn't function as smoothly as a basic zip up backpack. The shoulder straps are nice, thick and padded, haven't gotten shoulder pain/chafing. Good quality fabric and very spacious. The weight of the bag is a bit odd/off. When placing the bag upright on a flat surface, I've found that it will always tip forward. So I have to lay it down flat, at an angle, or leaning against something. I bought this mainly because I wanted a larger backpack with more capacity that looked good. Heard great things about Herschel bags. Satisfied with my purchase, but I honestly don't know if I'd repurchase this bag and would probably shop around more or consider the zip up Herschel backpacks (as I like the brand, just not this model/backpack).

I often get asked about my adventures through the wilderness while wearing my backpack. To the outside world, I appear to be a cunning survivalist capable of enduring nature's harshest conditions. In reality, I'm just a 22-year-old college girl who needed something sturdier after my super cute, sequin-bedazzled backpack broke under the heavy weight of knowledge.Although the backpack is somewhat large for me, I don't really mind. I'm 5'7 and weigh about 120 pounds and the backpack is not overbearing in any way. I fit my 15" laptop in the bag along with 3 textbooks, 3 notebooks, my laptop charger, my phone charger, and a pretty large-sized clutch. The best things about this backpack,besides having everything I could possibly want in one bag, are the very padded and comfortable back and shoulder straps. It is also nice not looking like a homeless bag lady for a change.I bought the Herschel in black (in order to properly mourn the death of my multi-colored, sequin bedazzled backpack). Although the price was a bit steep for me, I think the quality of the bag is worth the cost. I expect this bag to last me for a few years, if not several. If you are considering buying this bag, you should just do it. If you don't like it, you can return it. If you do like it, you can wear it around and liken yourself to Christopher McCandless.

I've wanted a Herschel backpack for MONTHS and I ended up getting it for my boyfriend instead (what are the chances!?). I've done my research on Herschel's website (choosing the right backpack for your needs and sizing) as well as reading many reviews over many months on Amazon.com. Finally, this past summer, my boyfriend and I went to Nordstrom to SEE it in person, try it on, etc. My boyfriend was very skeptical of it, calling it cheap material, etc.. UNTIL he tried it on. He bikes to work so this is perfect to hold his things upright and safely store his lap top as well as being stylish and professional looking at the same time. I think it's a great fit and it looks good on him! However,for myself, I'm still holding off on it, because I'm more of a tote bag gal (we are teachers) and I do have a Herschel Market tote bag and a little Herschel wallet. I love it. I like the plain, simple designs of Herschel products and sometimes their nice bright pop of color and style. Can't go wrong. Although sometimes I spend too much time trying to justify the price. It hasn't let me down yet.Good thing about Amazon or Nordstrom is that they have great return policies! So just try it out, if it's good, keep it, if not return it.

I bought this bag originally for an upcoming music festival, but I started using it to ferry home packages I send to my office…and have since stopped using my regular bag for work stuff. Actually, at this point, I've pretty much dumped everything I own into this thing, yet there always still seems to be room for a book and bottle of wine. One time I was stuck in deep Brooklyn too far from the train, so I just slept in it…while I really couldn't stretch out (I still had most of my belongings in there), it was great in a pinch all facts considered. This bag has actually been really great for my social life too…I've had several parties in it already, and am planning a pre-historic themed pre-party for Governor's Ball in June.Given the interior is actually larger than my Manhattan apartment, I would consider living in it too, but it's been a nightmare trying to find a plumber who'll rig up the pipes.Only con is that the padding on the back seems to absorb heat and radiate it back…which was great for cooking breakfast on that morning in Brooklyn, but when I'm actually carrying stuff, I get back-tongue pretty much instantly.

My last backpack lasted 5 years, and it was time to get rid of it. The straps were worn, there was a hole at the bottom, and it was the zippers were getting caught.Got this as a gift from the girlfriend.Buy this if you love getting compliments from friends and strangers.I don't consider myself a hipster, but i'll take it as a compliment.There isn't as many compartments i would like, but i'm just used to my old backpack being that way. It's made laptop friendly, the inner materials feels incredibly soft! Padded back and straps. Very sturdy feel.This Herschel backpack seems large when on the ground, but when you put it on it looks fine.My suggestion is to tighten the brown leather straps all the way.The straps are held by strong magnets, so you don't have to worry about the zipper getting caught.I'd recommend getting this in black or the blue one. Slightly, on the expensive side but you won't regret it.

Really fashionable -- Herschel bags in general (and different colors for the Little America style) are quite popular around campus, and they look good! I got the "Black/Black Rubber/White Insert" one, and I'm really satisfied!-Pros: the material feels very sturdy and durable. I've been using it for around 3 months now, and no problems so far. I like the laptop sleeve, and the size (I usually carry around my laptop and several folders/notebooks). If you happen to carry a lot of binders, however, the size might not be enough.-Cons: something that's been quite annoying for me personally has been a lack of a water bottle pouch on the side. I guess I'm sacrificing that functionality for fashion,though I do worry about my water bottle leaking inside on my laptop/papers sometimes (my work-around is that I use a waterproof bag inside the bag, with the handles looped around the drawstring).

I was looking for a decently big sized backpack just because I'm transitioning into university, and I needed something that had a lot of padding and enough space for my books/laptop. I own a 13 inch MacBook Pro that I carry around (the backpack holds up to 15 inches), four notebooks, and miscellaneous things like my laptop and phone charger. If you're looking to carry around large books and notebooks, I would look into getting another backpack because I find that I can't fit large books into this backpack. The only complaint is the "flap," you have to keep opening it and closing it which was annoying at first but I got used to it. The small opening in the front,I only use for my charger because that's all the space I have. Overall, very worth the purchase at a good price. I believe that other websites do have these for discounts though, so use Amazon as a last resort.

After using a Chrome one-shoulder bag for 8 years, it really did a number on my back with daily use of carrying a laptop to work. Got this bag a few weeks ago and it's perfect for my needs. The fit is great, even for taller/broader shoulder folks, padding is super comfortable on the back but is still really stylish. Laptop compartment fits a Macbook Pro 15" perfectly and leaves lots of room in the main compartment for other things. I've also gotten tons of compliments already on it.Another great thing is the padding/support along the bottom of the bag that helps keep it's overall shape when you have a ton of things packed in it.Only complaint is that I wish the front pocket was slightly larger both in width and height to fit a few more easily accessible items in it.But overall, it's an incredibly well-made bag.

I use this thing for everything just about everyday! Even packed it full to the brim when traveling carry on and it holds up fine. Definitely a high quality bag if you aren't familiar with Herschel bags. Only complaint like most people is the lack of a couple more pockets for holding things. Besides that its meant to be a large "pouch" type bag, so learn how to pack it up like a grocery bag with heavy things at the bottom and light stuff at the top. The straps are strong and very comfortable. Even when I push this bag to it's limits, I find myself feeling the weight more than anything uncomfortable. Not much more to say. The finish is nice and looks good. have gotten many compliments on this bag,especially cause I'm a guy rocking the floral look lol.

High quality backpack that is stylish, durable, and has a lot of storage space.This backpack is great as a weekender, hiking, or even carrying your stuff around the city. The backpack itself looks stylish while also being extremely comfortable. The straps and padding help the backpack to sit comfortable on your shoulders.The inside has a lot space for your things plus a padded laptop sleeve. There are also two small pockets on the in sides for phones/ipods/gadgets. The inside is lined with a red pin-striping that is reminiscent of a fabulous suede jacket that was ruined in the snow. If only he turned the jacket inside-out.I also wish the straps were actual leather instead of a faux material(although it feels durable).

This bag is superb! Loads of space for all my books, trust me that's a lot! (Around 4 ring binders + 2 textbooks + a couple of books, a pencil case and a drink)The fleece bit at the back is helpful. I carry my tablet and keyboard to school and I don't need to worry about it being crushed by textbooks while in the bag!I had the heritage with the leather bottom, but after a year it was ripped beyond repair. The little america doesn't have this and it seems to be a lot more durable. The flap is great at keeping out the rain, and it's protected my stuff from the godawful English weather.It's not THAT big, it's only a bit larger than the heritage, though a bit wider.A great purchase,and worth the money.

My laptop fits perfectly in the cozy, padded pouch inside. I love that the closures have the look of leather straps, but are actually magnetic buttons. In fact, the overall look of the bag is old school, but with new materials and plenty of extra padding on the straps and back. It has even survived Portlandia rain and kept the contents dry. The front pouch has a zipper under the flap which is convenient but can make an annoying clatter when walking around. Happily, this is my only nitpick of the bag. It otherwise suits my needs perfectly, garners lots of compliments and was a steal at less than 50% the cost of most other work bags I own. I highly recommend it for young commuters.

lots of space, good for carrying my laptop around etc. quite expensive for what it actually is, but hey.. thats branding for you.it has a front pouch with a built in clip for your keys/keyring which is quite handy. inside is a felt (or soft material) sleeve compartmental divider for your laptop. There are also two small pockets attached to the upper sides of the inside of the bag that can hold valuables etc making them easy to get to, as this bag only opens at the top so you may have to dig around for things you need at the bottom.I do like this bag and and had a few compliments about it. it does also make carrying a lot, much easier. so thumbs up from me

This was a gift for my husband. I actually saw a different style in Nordstrom, but wanted to look around. He'd been using a Puma backpack to take carry his work laptop back and forth to work on the light rail. I really wanted to update his bag and get him something a little higher end to take into the office and this really fit the bill. He had a little trouble fitting his computer in at first, but it had enough give that he was able to make it fit and now it slides in a lot easier. It's got a lot of room, and is honestly the most comfortable bag he's ever had. The straps are extra padded and make his 45 minute commute a lot easier.

I love this backpack! It looks great and it holds a lot of stuff.I do use a packing cube to keep my clothing organized and separate from the other contents. I can fit two days worth of outfits, travel skin care elements, travel sized flat iron, hairbrush, two to three paperback books (or a laptop), mirrorless camera with long lens, and a water bottle. The backpack is comfortable when loaded, but the structured fabric keeps its shape even when its fully packed. I look forward to traveling just so I can use this backpack.My only complaint is the lack of external water bottle pocket for easy access.
