There are plenty of laptop bags out there, some of them incredibly expensive with every conceivable customised pocket imaginable and enough padding to protect against a truck. This bag isn't one of them but it gets the job done and for the price, is quite decent. You can easily add a little padding yourself when you pack it to ease concerns and as long as you don't assume your laptop is invulnerable and remain relatively cautious, it should be fine. What there is:There are three compartments to the bag. The main compartment contains a pocket for your laptop which can be secured with an elasticated velcro strap. The pocket is attached to the back of the bag so that the laptop will be closest to your body when the bag is worn and so doesn't threaten to throw you off balance. The pocket also suspends the laptop so that should the bag be placed on the floor on its base, no part of the laptop SHOULD come into contact with the floor. There is ample room in the rest of the main compartment for things such as books, files, cables etc. There is a small compartment at the front of the bag which contains a mesh pocket and a few elasticated loops for pens. There's a small padded pocket on one side of the bag, and a mesh pocket on the other side. The bag also comes with a small mobile phone case attached to one of the straps. It can easily be removed (velcro). How good is it:I use this with a 15" unibody Macbook Pro and inside a second skin, my laptop fits in the pocket in the main compartment well. Initially I was concerned the velcro securing strap at the top of the pocket would allow my laptop to move around too much but it actually holds it in place fairly tightly. It still would have been nice to see a bit more velcro on the strap to allow bigger or smaller laptops to be secured just as tightly. Ideally there should also be a padded flap at the top of the pocket to give the top end of the laptop a little protection. A lack of padding is the main problem inside the bag. The pocket is padded a little (though not much) and without a second skin, the part of my laptop poking out of the top of the pocket would have very little protection at all. Due to this I feel the need to add padding of my own when I use it (over the top of the pocket, under the pocket and wrapping up anything pointy in the main compartment like the plug!). Of course you could argue that there's no point in buying this bag if you have to add your own padding but if you really value your laptop, I'd think you'd add padding or take care packing it even in a hugely expensive purpose built bag.The pocket on the front is big enough to carry quite a few accessories though there isn't really any padding at all. The mesh pocket lets you keep smaller things separate and easy to spot while I found the pen holder loops really quite handy for memory sticks. The padded pocket on the side is good for carrying a non-bulky power adapter or a mouse while the mobile holder could also be used for a small camera if you wanted and is handily removable.Overall:The bag is quite neat and has the advantage of not looking like it might contain anything hugely valuable, it certainly doesn't look like a laptop bag. The main compartment zips closed using two zippers which I secure with a small screwgate karabiner for extra safety.Basically this is a cheap bag. You can definitely get better but you'll have to pay for it and if you use your common sense when packing and carrying this bag, you can keep your laptop just as safe if not safer than if you put it in a bag costing hundreds.

I bought this backpack a week ago and everything is perfect about it.My laptop (15.6" toshiba sattlite)fits perfect and can't move inside the bag due to the securing valcrove strap. The bag looks good, i have enough space next to my laptop for my adapter, mouse and 2 noteblock's. In the front section there's enough space for my agenda, calculator and pens. In the side net i can fit a water bottle that won't fall out (33cl) and in the side pocket i place 2 pieces of fruit (apple and a mandarin). So everything i need for a day at collage (i live in the netherlands so instead of a waterbottle i could place a small umbrella in the net when it'll get rainy. I guess it's a good tip for you english :)since it's always rainy for you.)It also stays close to my back when walking or even running to the bus with it(i leave home too late too often -.-). The zipper seems waterproof/resistant but i haven't tested it yet. The backpack doesn't look like a laptop backpack wich could deceive thiefs.I recommend this bag!p.s. pardon my grammar, i'm dutch, it's late and i'm too lazy to check for faults :P

I use this bag almost every day for collage. It has a helpful side pocket which i use for my charger and my mouse if i need it. The small pocket at the front has a mesh inner pocket thing which is useful to put my MP3 player/usb sticks/memory cards/any little bits and peaces. There is also space for 3 pens/pencils, useful if i dont need my full pencil case for the day.The only problem with this laptop bag is that, for my laptop (toshiba satellite pro L20) the laptop pocket its way too big. I have to put a text book and a wad of paper in with the laptop to i know its secured properly. Also, as a collage student, i have lots of folders and bulky text books.the main section of the bag isn't really big enough to hold everything I need it to on my full days. However, i would suggest this to anyone who likes backpacks rather than messenger bags for their laptops, especially for business purposes where you dont need to carry loads around paper-wise. The bag looks smart and wouldn't look out of place in an office.

It is bigger than I expected but it will allow the user to put not just a laptop but many other things in one bag. It is really more of a back pack with a cushioned compartment for a laptop or notebook so I would not imagine your laptop/notebook to be well secured if you are moving around as an adventurer or cycling -- you need something more expensive I would say if you are out and about with a laptop anyway. It is not the most sleek of designs, but it looks durable, and functionality wise, it is well worth the money.

I bought one of these in 2008 (from Tesco) and its been around the world for 6 months carrying web book, camera, charger, clothes, etc. etc. Since then I've used it every day going to work. Its a really good backpack. Also there are not too many zips/pockets, straps to get in the way of what you store inside. The reason I'm here on Amazon is that I'm now looking for another one as the inner plastic is starting to come away from the fabric.I'm pleased its still available and I'm just about to place my order

Have had this rucksack for over two years now and it is still going great. Originally I bought it to transport my new laptop as I was heading off to university and it has easily done what I wanted to do and more. It is very durable and I am still using it, although I consider myself a light user. The mobile phone pouch is a bit excessive though. The right side pocket is actually pretty big as is the front compartment. The left side pocket also works well as a bottle holder. Overall, it is a great bag

I bought my first Targus in 2008, my second in 2011 and now my third a couple of days ago.I am very happy with this item. There have been a couple of changes to this edition, one of which I miss - there was a drawstring in the outer mesh pocket which stops water bottles/other loose items from falling out when the bag is accidently positioned at a different angle or when running.I find this bag ideal for day-to-day use and the shoulder straps are well-padded and comfortable.

I received the product almost next day. I ordered it in night and after one day, I got it. It's a nice backpack to carry your laptop and other stuff. It has two side pockets one for bottole water and another for may be laptop charger. If you are looking for backpack for your laptop with extra protection, the its worth it to buy. I would recommend to my friends to buy and actually I did to one of my friends who bought it later on.

This is a great bag at a reasonable price. I bought this for my son, which is the 2nd one he has had. He used the first one on a daily basis for a couple of years, giving it hard use before it eventually gave up the ghost, but he wanted one exactly the same. My partner has one too, which is still going strong after even longer. Just the right size with the right amount of pockets and decent padding inside to protect your laptop.

Lightweight well designed bag, looks to be good quality, fits 15" laptop, charger, misc. items, comfortable wide shoulder straps and good mesh backing to help prevent your back getting hot! The only thing of note is the zips are not protected by a flap of material like you normally see. Excellent seller, ordered Tues evening, received Thu am with follow up email the next day to check all was ok.

Excellent bag - plenty of space for all essentials. Hard wearing and lightweight and shoulder straps very comfortable. I carried my previous one around for years (unfortunately it was stolen) and didn't hesitate to buy exactly the same one again as I was so pleased with it. I particularly like the little side pocket for things like keys, and the bottle pouch on the other side.

9.11.2010

Very comfortable when you have it on your back: the straps are of good quality (for such a cheap bag) and there is a soft padded layer outside the whole of the back of the bag. I searched a lot on eBAY and AMAZON and could not find similar bag on such a low price (I bought it 17GBP = 13GBD for the product + 4GBP for posting to where I leave).

29.8.2013

This is an sturdy bag which does what is expected out of it. It is able to carry my 17 inch Dell laptop very easily along with other bits. The front pocket gives more space for keeping your documents. Overall I think this bag is quite spacious and comfortable to carry without hurting your shoulders. My wife is extremely happy to use it.

This is the second Targus bag I have purchased. They are very strong and withstand the heavy use given to bags by my sons when transporting books to and from school. After three years the bottle holder is beginning to splilt but it has lasted much longer than any others I have bought. Recommend for school bag or laptop transportation.

2.10.2010

I was recommended this bag by a friend and when I searched it I couldn't believe the price.I would recommend this as a great solution for anyone wishing to ditch their laptop shoulder bag. It's not massive, but it carries a lot more than the standard laptop case and will be a lot kinder on my back.
