I have never met an Osprey bag that I didn't like, and the 2019 incarnation of the Metron is no exception. It has every feature a bicycle commuter is likely to need, and reflects Osprey's commitment to comfort and quality. The two most useful features on the new Metron are it's "Lid Lock" helmet attachment point (a sturdy, plastic T held in place with strong elastic) and its shoe compartment. Those of us who prefer to get around under our own steam always need a place to put our helmet, and we also end up with dirty clothing or shoes that we need to safely stash away from everything else. I still recommend a wet bag, just to keep from cleaning out the compartment. The rest of the organization is equally thoughtful. Many cycling bags are just empty sacks, and the Metron is several steps above that - while still not having quite the level of organization for the category of bags I think of as "briefcase replacements." The side pocket is particularly handy, and the laptop compartment is well-padded. There's also an admin area in the front, that has three small, mesh pockets.I find 26-30L to be the sweet spot for a daily-use bag, and the Metron actually manages to feel larger than its rated capacity of 26L. In my experience, that's an indicator of good design. I was pleasantly surprised by just how much the bag could hold. For those who don't overstuff like I do, there are compression straps to keep the load flush against your back.Osprey includes a rainfly, but if your commute consistently takes you through heavy rain, I recommend considering a roll-top, waterproof backpack. I find water always gets between my back and the back of the backpack, and I don't want to risk it wicking into the laptop compartment. With that warning (which applies to all non-waterproof bags) aside, build quality is outstanding. The fabric is sturdy while still lightweight. Zippers are smooth and strong, and the straps are roomy and comfortable. If you're not planning on regularly commuting with the bag, there might be better options out there depending on your needs. For regular bike commuters, however, the 2019 Metron checks off all the boxes.

Wow. Just Wow! I love this backpack. Osprey thought of everything in the design of this backpack for the everyday commuter. The main pouch contains a laptop sleeve with 2 compartments - either for another laptop, tablet, or I use it for files and papers. It also opens up all the way like a suitcase or travel backpack, so you can access everything that you stuff to the bottom of the pack. The dedicated shoe compartment is a really nice feature - I can put my bike cleats in there and the bag still doesn't become bulky. There is also a rainfly included in the bottom pouch to stay dry during the rain. On top of all this, I'm able to attach my bike helmet to the bag...everything is designed to keep your backpack as slim as possible while holding everything you need.LOVE THIS PRODUCT! I know the price may deter you, but I've never been disappointed with Osprey products, and they have a lifetime warranty where they fix anything for free.Pros :)- Compartments for everything: shoes, laptops, rainfly- helmet attachment- very compactCons :(- Price is high, but may be worth it- no water bottle pouch. Including one would have made this a really nice multi-use backpack

So I've had this a month or so, it was disappointing to discover this does not work with the reservoir but that apart that, this is a great product if you cycle and carry your laptop. I have an HP 15.6" laptop and i reckon that's as big as you'd want to go for a good and comfortable fit, and measures 375mm x 255mm external dims. The compression system on the outside of the rucksack works really well to prevent gear shifting about when cycling and i'm always looking for a jump or set of steps to rundown to make the ride more interesting. There is a separate shoe section, but i don't use mine for dirty shoes, the straps have good adjustment keeping a loaded pack close to your body when cycling or walking and the elasticated helmet holder is a great addition. It gets 4 stars because it was advertised as Hydrualics reservoir compatible which it isn't, and is a real shame, but all in all, it's a great pack and that's not a big issue. The Metron, like my Raptor 10 is a top piece of kit.

First, it's guaranteed for life like all Osprey products. Full featured with lots of room and many pockets. The main compartment has a padded computer bay, plus a couple of additional pockets. The outer pocket is for sweaty bike clothes so you can change once you get to work. Your helmet secures to the back with a cool keeper and strap system that doubles as load compression. Built-in rain cover is adjustable, and zipper pulls are reflective. There does not appear to be anything else reflective on this bag, so that's probably a con. Basic waist belt and shoulder straps look to be fairly comfortable. Chest strap is vertically adjustible and has an integrated emergency whistle.Back contact area has a ribbed foam system covered with mesh to increase airflow. Same area has a pocket for your phone or iPod and a port for earbuds. Overall, a nice feature-rich biking/commuter bag that will last.

Best bag I’ve had for cycling. My previous one used to give me some lower back pain and didn’t have enough space for commuting. This one is really comfortable and has loads of useful pockets, with the outwide pocket perfect for putting my lock there. is well adapted for cycling and commuting. Would highly recommend.Perhaps could be improved with some side pockets for carrying bottles of water or other...

Shaped for biker's back, this Osprey Metron has everything I need for conveniently carrying my 15" laptop and other daily stuff. The compartments are very well organized and easy to find what you need. It's also well made with good material and appears quite stylish on the back.I recommend it!

size is similar to a 24hr pack. good pocket organization. compression straps location and side stow pockets are the things i like.

Perfect for traveling, not just with a bike. Can be compressed. Have tried many commuter backpacks, this is the most convincing.

I used for commuting - bike, run, ... Like the fact that it's longer with lower profile.
