Really happy with this purchase - it is a very good hoover that has functioned perfectly since being bough (touch wood). The hose is long enough to reach the top corners of rooms where spiders may reside (unless of course you live in a mansion) as well as allow you to hoover the floor without needing to bend down all the time. The wheels are really easy to manoeuvre around - be that on carpet or vinyl flooring. The cable is super long as well - if you plug it in the middle of the floor space on one of your floors of the house you can easily hoover the whole place without needing to unplug and then plug elsewhere. On the minus sides there really are no genuine replacement bags - I have bought the alternatives and they are not at all like the original bag that was supplied.I am really amazed as to why there are no replacement bags made by the manufacturer, but I guess that's how things are - just really not pleased about this. The other issue I have is that when the handle for easy lifting/carrying is up the cable is really not coming out of the back of the hoover. I guess it cannot unroll properly and that it is why it sticks to the length you have unrolled before bringing the handle up. This is an issue because I do not like to pull the machine by the hose, I would rather use the handle as I do want to keep the hoover in good condition as long as possible. However, I do not want to be tripping over cables either, so I do not feel like unrolling metre plus just so there is enough to roll the Numatic around. Hence I am stuck with choosing between long cable - safely rolling and hard rolling - just right-length cables. Not a choice I want to be forced to make.Having said that the pluses of this machine far outweigh the minuses, and even with those minor issues I still think it is a great product, superb buy and a must have hoover. The only thing better in the hoover world would be (I guess, as currently I have not tried it) a more powerful Numatic! :-))

At the time of writing this (19-1-08) Amazon is describing this item as including the stainless steel toolkit. It doesn't - it has the grey-painted aluminium tubeset, and a reduced number of accessories in the toolkit. The stainless steel toolkit is 'Kit: A1'This comes with 'Kit: NPH1' (aluminium)You can see the difference in tools on [...] - download the 'cleancare accessories catalogue' pdf near the bottom of the page. The top picture in the pdf ('JV1' toolkit) is actually what you get (same as 'NPH1'). The next pic down is the A1 stainless kit.Numatic says on that page that the standard toolkit is 'A1' (stainless), and shows that toolkit in the images - yet quotes 'Kit: NPH1'at the bottom of the page next to the order code.So be careful - if you want the stainless tools, don't order this one from Amazon at present.Tried my best to tell Amazon about this - but just get automated email replies telling me a new one has been ordered (had two delivered now with aluminium tubes - intend to return both) or get connected to a call centre in the Phillipines staffed by people with poor English who can't do anything but tell you that 'Amazon won't send you the wrong one twice'.I haven't used it for vacuuming yet (since it's going back) but a quick play with it indicates build quality and suction are impressive; it's quiet, not that heavy, and follows you around quite well without falling over. The bags are plenty large enough for normal use, and quite cheap.I've heard a lot of good things about these little fellas, and the ability to get parts if anything goes wrong is a major plus - a friend is just about to throw away a 3 year old (and little-used) Miele vacuum because the motor has stopped working and there are no parts available to repair it ('sealed unit' - new motor: £90+). Miele are currently claiming on their website: "We design our vacuum cleaners to last 20 years...". - I wonder if that's why they don't make spares for them ...? ;-)

Oh Henry! How you have exceeded my expectations!I got this vacuum cleaner because my daughter is petrified of vacuums, and therefore I cannot vacuum when she is awake, because she screams the house down, and I cannot vacuum when she is asleep, because she wakes up, so for the past two years I have had problems! The cleaner I had was rubbish and finally kicked the bucket, so I decided I wanted to push the boat out and go Dyson.I surveyed comparison charts and found Dyson was rated 9 or 10 in the list of top cleaners, with this immensely cheaper one at number two. After much deliberation I decided to go with Henry-he was £170 cheaper, seemed to have everything the Dyson did except the HEPA filtration, but neither of us have allergies so we don't need it, and if ever we do get them you can 'upgrade' Henry with an allergy filter for £20-you just pop it in where the normal filter goes-under his hat.So yes, I thought I was getting a cleaner that meant I could clean my house without scaring my daughter witless, and thought it would be nowhere near as good as a Dyson, but at least my carpets would be better than they were yesterday! I thought that the reason he got such good reviews was his face, and only people that were into 'cute' things bothered reviewing him.How wrong I was-this machine is phenominal! My carpets have actually changed colour-they are cream again. Hannah adores him-she insisted on him sitting under the dinner table so that she could feed him, and I can get into places I could never even attempt with an upright.I did have a slight concern as one review said that it doesn't glide properly when you pull it back, but I find that only happened if I tried to do it one-handed, otherwise it is as smooth as anything.Henry, you are fabulous!

The company i work for use these machines as they are very robust and powerful the suction strength is amazing they last a very long time and have the largest capacity bag ever made in the commercial market if you own pets then get a airo brush this tool operates on airflow suction which turns a small turbine motor in the head very very quickly this tool fits the standard type henrys and numatics but be ware it can cost around £40 and you wiil see a difference when you use it if you use numatics in the right conditions and give it regular servicing you can get 15-20 years out of it i own a henry a ex council machine it is 15 years old and i have a red airo turo brush and i notice the differencewhen using it the machine i have is the old 1000w series machine i would recommend the hepa flo dust bags or the reuseable henry cloth bags these are sold on amazon i would opt for the reuseable as it is washable and can save £72 a year on disposable dust bags the filters in the numatics that my company use are micro filters these are around 4 stage and and remove around 99% dust out of the environment nuamtics i find are the best for hoovering the car as i have found they leave the car perfect and owning two dogs you would not believe how much hair the machines remove it is noticeable when you check the dust bag in my opinion these machines are the best in the market better than a dyson last longer and require less emptying and hold more(why do you think garages and car wash places use these machines)

We've got a Dyson (for the carpeted rooms) and a VAX lightweight for upstairs but I needed something to keep plugged in a kitchen all the time to do the floor. So we got the Henry as it has a 12m lead. It now sits in a kitchen cupboard and comes out a couple of times a day (multiple kids and dogs). The Henry is easy to assemble, intuitive to use and very powerful. It uses bags which I thought I would hate but they are brilliant and cheap. And no dust when you empty it. It picks up more than the Vax and is about the same as the Dyson. However, it is much easier to move around, is lighter and tidy's away smaller and more compact. The kitchen floor is tiled and it covers the tiles easily, low noise and no scraping. It also has a high and low noise setting. I use the low when the baby is asleep nearby and its great. The high setting is more powerful but also not that much louder so it is normally on that setting. Overall I would say it is about the same noise or slightly less than the Dyson. When the Dyson breaks (we are on our 3rd in 7 years) I would replace it with another Henry.Highly recommended.

What can you say about the Henry style vacuum cleaner that hasn't been written. I bought this for my small business because nearly every business I know has one. I asked my professional cleaner which was the best and she recommended one of these as well. There's no gimmicks or gizmos and you still have to change the dustbags but what the heck, they just run forever and don't have problems with pennies, paperclips and other office debris. I liked it so much when I got it I bought another one from the same supplier two days later for my home.I love the simplicity of the machine, two power levels controlled by separate switches, the manual wind up cable system is a dream and fitting a bag is a simple job - it comes with a couple of tools which are easily swapped - an upholstery brush and a crevice tool, you don't need anything else.Could it be better? I suppose being able to keep the tools on board would be useful but apart from that it just gets on with the job.Overall it gets 9/10 for me.Read full review...

These days it is so seldom that anything works exactly as you would hope. I have gone through several vacuum cleaners over the years that cost a fortune to buy, plus a fortune to maintain with special bags or special filters for bagless systems. I thought I would do some research into which vacuums were actually any good rather than fall for some marketing hype. After hours of research I came up with a short list of three, and chose the Numatic (commercial version of Henry) because of recurring high ratings by people who actually own one including several hits on forums for builders who used them (without bags in some cases!)to tidy up rubble. These little guys seemed to go on for year after year without complaint. After owning this fella for over a year I can confirm just how amazing it is. I've cleared up dust, fluff, and yes - building debris after our attic conversion. And yes - you will eventually come to love his little smiling face despite your best efforts not to anthropomorphise it...

Who would have thought I'd be sitting here reviewing a vacuum cleaner!?Sick of having to buy a new vacuum every couple of years, and having worked out that Dysons are pretty, but fragile, I decided to opt for a Henry. And I'll keep it short: it works. It is simple, strong, and will suck the carpet off your floor. It has the longest mains lead I've ever seen, which means I can do the whole house AND my car without having to unplug once. The replaceable bag is the size of a small country, and for the power it has, it's pretty damn quiet. Don't be fooled by what appears to be a measly power rating - trust me, you will not have felt anything with more 'sook'. AND,it smiles at you when you open your cupboard. If a Dyson was a car it would be a new Range Rover: too expensive, too complicated, too flashy, and a lot to do with the so-called prestige name. Henry, on the other hand, is an old Land Rover: tough as you like, does the job without fuss, and designed to go on for ever.Buy one. Or two!

I have had many different types of vacuum cleaner in my time from Dyson to Hoover, bagged to bagless and I have to say that I have had my Henry for two weeks and it is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever had. The suction on it is unbelievable, my floors have never been so clean. I have got real wood floorboards and it gets right into the crevices. Another reviewer said there was a problem with it on carpet but I have found no problem whatsoever. Admittedly it is a fairly flat carpet but it cleans it up lovely. The only drawback to it is that it doesn't have anywhere to store your tools on the machine so you do have to carry them with you wherever you go. The cord length on it is brilliant,I can do my whole downstairs without having to unplug it once. I would really recommend these cleaners to anyone who has had enough of all the new fangled machines they keep bringing out and just wants to go back to basics and get a really good cleaner in the process. Brilliant.

I have over the years been through many vacuum cleaners. It is so frustrating trying to find one that does good job.Well here he is. Henry. This super vacuum cleaner does exactly what he is supposed to do.He is very powerful. I drag him all over.He came with a couple of clothes bags which are very big and this is great as he takes ages to get full. This also means you are not forever buying bags.He has two settings if you need extra suction, but to be honest he does not really need it.He is a sturdy vacuum cleaner, that will not fall apart after a few knocks and bums.He suction will stay strong for as long as you need it.He has a large filter which just needs s shake when you have to replace the bag, which is not very often.Don't be tempted to buy the paper vacuum bags. They are no were near as good as the cloth ones.Happy vacuuming.

After wasting a lot of money on a new vacuum cleaner (a Vax)that proved useless, I was worried about buying another new cleaner without trying it first, so I borrowed a Henry from work for the weekend. It was brilliant. Very powerful (unlike my VAX that had trouble sucking up just about everthing), & nice long flex which is so essential in my opinion plus many handy tools. Needless to say when I handed Henry back that Monday morning I went straight on line & purchased a NVR200-22. The only disappointment when it arrived was that it had dull grey metal tubes not the nice shiny chrome ones as in the picture. Why?? Plus not so many brush heads, but I probably didn't read the description properly. It is a little heavy & I am quite small, but with such a powerful machine with a huge dust bag what could I expect. And he smiles at you!!!

In all the offices I've worked in I noticed the cleaners always used Henry, now I know why. I cannot believe the difference in suction power between my new Henry and my old Dyson. Henry comes with two power settings: the low setting is great for getting crumbs off the tablecloth (without sucking-up the tablecloth) and dusting the shelves etc (with the brush head); the high setting is so powerful I nearly have to get my fitted carpet refitted, but it cleans superbly. With my Dyson I had to remove the head and just use the hose to try pick-up the pesky pieces from the carpet (not always successfully). It is easy to assemble, has a long flex, good attachments and is easy to move around. If you are thinking of making a new purchase think of Henry!

We bought a larger version of this vacuum, (the company called it Edward), back in 1989 but Edward finally died after 25 years of faithful service. We were pleased enough with the product to buy another similar but smaller one. The company seem to have made some minor adjustments to the model and although it is smaller than Edward, it has a fairly powerful suction. The wind in cord makes it nice and neat and although its all made of plastic, the hose does seem to last. One of the changes is that the bags are no longer paper. I found them easy enough to fit (with care) but my spouse was not good at it and would tear them occasionally. The cloth bag is much stronger but of course more expensive. This product is well priced and very effective.

Why did I ever buy a Dyson? This powerful vacuum cleaner just does it all. First thing you notice is it's QUIET! It is particularly good on carpet tiles and hard floors, stairs too no problem, just take off the head piece. Dog and cat hairs come off the stairs easily because you can turn up the suction and get down to the first piece of hose. The bags last for ages. It has a handle for carrying AND a winder for the cable keeping everything neat. It is well made and hardy oh and makes me smile too!My only beef is that the tubes don't stay together if you pull backwards which is annoying. But a couple of pieces of duct tape sorts that out.I will never go back to a Dyson and think that this is a bargain for the price.

You always see these vacuums being used in offices and hotels, so when my expensive German vacuum cleaner had a small problem that was going to cost over £220 to fix, I thought I'd give a Henry a try. At first, I wasn't too happy using the supplied tools on my deep pile carpets; they just wouldn't glide, but then I bought a turbo brush head and now I can't fault it.There are no gimmicky design features, or electronics on a Henry, so there doesn't seem to be much that could go wrong, but if ever does, spares are cheap and plentiful. OK, it isn't the quietest vacuum cleaner, nor the lightest, but it is very efficient and does exactly what it was designed to do.I only wish I'd bought one yearsago.
