Been in 2 minds for ages on this and saw it for £15 in the Black Friday sale and thought id get it for my sons Xmas prezzie.Always had the impression of "It's just cardboard" but having now built it with my son and used it I can honestly say its way more than that. The building process is what makes this... Once you insert the game card into the switch you are presented with instructions on how to build the robot kit. The instructions are so well designed and easy to follow. My son who's 7 was doing most of the work with ease and often completed steps before the instructions would show.We built this over 2 days, totalling about 3-4 hours and that's 3-4 enjoyable hours. The game experience is fun, flip the visor down and you get transported into a first-person view while putting the visor up switches back to a 3rd person view and kneeling down, turns you into a robot batmobile style car... Awesome!.The hand and feet control works great, having the ability to punch and see the robot break down building is very immersive for kids and having to walk provides a good little workout. The longevity of the gaming experience remains to be seen but so far this is an awesome piece of kit, great idea and definitely worth the money spent! Well done Nintendo for being so creative and doing a brilliant job of bringing this experience together. If I had paid £30 for this I would be completely satisfied. The launch price not so much purely on the longevity and repetitiveness of the gaming experience.Anytime this is on offer I suggest you grab it. It won't disappoint!

I bought this Customisation Set together with the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit for my two daughters. Soon after we assembled the first Toy Cons from the set and played around with them for a bit, my daughters were eager to customise their little creations. The great thing about the fact that they are made out of cardboard is, that you can easily paint them, put stickers and all sorts of funky accessories on them. While you don't necessarily need the Customisation Set for getting creative, the Stickers and Stencils that are included give you a pretty good basis. The Eye Stickers were a huge success with the Bug Toy Con and the Stencils were used excessively to put their names and tons of hearts and stars on their Toy Cons. The two rolls of tape are a very useful addition to the Set,because they can be used to repair or reinforce the obvious weak spots of the Toy Cons. All in all I'm glad that I bought the Customisation Set together with the Labo Kit. For the price asked, it offers more than enough, as long as you don't expect huge amounts of Stickers. For anything else, the local arts and craft shop will be the better option. The included Tape Rolls are literally Live Savers!### If my review was helpful to you, please press 'yes', thank you! ###

Ok, you’re intrigued. This looks like it could be something remarkable, a game changer in the crowded home entertainment market, but... it’s £60 for a box of cardboard bits, is it really worth it? Well, it’s a challenging build. I’m a forty something DT teacher and it took me a good few hours to construct without help from children. It was bought for a number of youth groups to access, cubs up first. They LOVED it. The five minute destroy all you can game is perfect for 5 minute turns. I was also impressed by the engineering that goes into this, each stage gives your inner geek a warm glow so consumate is the design. Downsides? If you are adjusting the pack for a queue or exciting youngsters you will experience closer proximity to small sweaty feet than most would prefer. On a serious note nobody would be able to use this on their own, you need a wing man to help you into the kit and push joy con buttons and such. Most exciting and innovative game development since the Wi.

I bought this to keep my 9 year old son entertained during the Easter holidays. He really enjoyed following the instructions in the software to build all the different kits. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about how sturdy it was going to be and had visions of our Nintendo Switch flying out of it but I was pleasantly surprised at just how sturdy the whole construction was. Even when my son accidentally stood on part of the blaster, it just fell apart rather than breaking it and it was easily fixed by following the instructions again. I loved the terminology the software used too. It was easy to understand and I was amused at the 'boops' (this will make more sense if you use this software!).All in all, this was an excellent purchase and one which will be getting a lot more use when the Breath of The Wild update comes out!Read full review...

This has been a big hit in our house, building it was great and my eldest (7) really enjoyed it however it was a bit fiddly for 5 yr old. Playing was great fun HOWEVER, I must warn potential buyers that if you have 2 or more children you want to be entertained by this be careful. As no-one else can watch what is going on, (the switch is pretty much attached to the face!) the other kids invariably get bored waiting for their turn and lose interest. This is definitely not a negative on the product which is extremely well made and lots of fun but just a heads up that I found. If you have Mario Kart then I'd recommend the driving wheel package as it can be used with that game

My son who is 13 brought this on 7th May, it took him at least 5 hours to build without any help, after less than 2 hours of play when taking it off the cardboard on the left foot broke it is now being held together when in use by a bulldog clip, by Thursday the left strap on the backpack would not stay on and keeps coming out and is now being held together with a Watcher Bag Tie, its doing a great job, the right one seems fine at the moment. My son says it's a great game, but was very disappointed with how quick the damage occurred after all the time and effort he had put into it.It certainly is not worth £70, but my son had saved for this himself.

Liked the concept. And it's very high quality cardboard components. It's not difficult to put together, and it's easy to follow instructions. Excellent.Limited 'after play' with my son, who gets easily bored after a few Robot challenges. let's face it, it's competing with Super Mario and Animal Crossing ....So, for physical build and play, doing something constructive together thumbs up. And it works well.My son is six. Still emerging from the clumsy stage, of knots, strings, folding cardboard and sticking on stickers :)But we managed by doing the build project over a few day. There are plenty of lessons about patience, effort and focus :)

I had expected this to be a bit of a waste of money - £55 for a game and some cardboard. In actual fact it was pretty damn good. My son spent 2 days (on and off) building the robot which is comparable to building some lego sets. It's actually quite complex. The instructions are excellent and fun to go through (the switch takes you through the build interactively). The game itself is ok - my son seems to enjoy it. The robot backpack and visor are relatively strong when completed so should last if we take care of it.

Yet again, Nintendo come up trumps in intelligent, innovative game play. This was by far the best Christmas present of the year, combining build skills, engineering and gaming. My 7 year old was too young to build by himself, but helped for entire build (which took approximately 13 hours in total - not in one sitting!!!). Fascinating to see how cardboard, elastic bands and stickers can transform into different vehicles. Cardboard is sturdy and so far has withstood many hours of play! Whole-heartedly recommend it!!

I got this free in a deal with a switch console. The piano is pretty good and fun, there aren't any play along songs or tutorials so it would be best for someone that can already play a few tunes, there is a little studio, you can make your own wave forms and scan them in it looks great but it's a little above my ability. I haven't built it all but just based off of the piano and the house I have to say I don't know who this is aimed at, certainly not young kids, very time consuming to build.

If you're thinking "it's just pieces of cardboard" like I was...get that thought out of your head! It's amazing! My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed making the different pieces (especially the fishing rod!!) and for the most part, has been able to do so independently. Just one thing...some of the pieces (especially the piano) take a considerable amount of time & patience. Overall I would say it's a wonderful toy, which in my opinion is worth the money. My daughter has played with her's constantly

An inexpensive way to get some VR into the household, kids had fun making the peripherals, age dependant they'll possibly require some assistance as it is a bit time consuming but provides a good dexterity and instruction following challenge. There are lots of activities within the software and there are plenty of 'expansion' options in terms of the different available toy-con available - just add money!Only negative - no headstrap on the VR goggles - easy enough to make one yourself though..

This has been a gift for my 8 year old, but has provided great family fun over the Christmas holidays, having built and played with 2 of the items in the kit. It probably hasn't blown his mind in the same way as us, his parents, but then we are of an age where having waited hours for a basic ping pong tennis game thing to upload on a ZX Spectrum, this level of interactivity on a games console is nothing short of magic! Clear instructions, lots of fun and more to discover. Highly recommend.

Bought this for my 11 year old son. The product says 6+ however that is too younger age for them to build it themselves. (My younger son has one too). He was able to build most of it himself but needed a bit of supervision as if something is folded in the wrong way then it won’t work and would be hard to correct as it is essentially just made of cardboard. It is a great concept and similar to Lego in the sense that you follow instructions to build each one. My son loves the end products!

This hasn't been properly used yet as it's for my sons birthday... BUT I couldn't resist opening it up, building it and having a play!! We have other labo bits and although cardboard they are great quality and very robust. Building time must be noted, if for a present it might be worth thinking about building in advance. The goggles took me almost 45 minutes and the blaster over 3 hours!! Definitely worth the time and effort. Very enjoyable choice of games which all the family will love!
