I will keep this review short and to the point with everything you need to know to base your decision on.Firstly this is the Official Battery Pack and cable for the Xbox One Wireless Controller. On the back of the controller is the plastic door, which when you slide it off you will find the battery compartment. You can either use 2x AA Batteries or you can place this battery pack into the compartment (the pack neatly fits into the battery compartment and doesn't rattle).Essentially, when you've installed the battery pack you have a built in battery (with the advantage that it can be replaced later down the road as lets be honest, batteries don't last forever). The micro USB cable that comes with the battery pack is a decent length at 2.8m and feels sturdy, both end connectors are of a high quality and fit into the controller and console well. There is an LED charging light which is yellow while charging and then turns white when fully charged, sadly as of yet you can't check the battery charge level through the dashboard as you use to be able to do on the 360.Now onto some great news, when the controller is plugged into the console using the charging cable it disables the wireless functionality of the controller and it instantly becomes a fully wired controller, sending both data and taking power from the cable, while at the same time disabling the battery while it charges which takes a total of 4 hours. Even better news is when the console is in standby mode the battery pack can still be charged meaning you don't need to leave the console switched on.On the issue of how long it lasts on a full charge, well I got this with my console last night at a launch party and played through the night, I would say I've gone around 7 hours and the battery is still going strong! I did ask the manager at GAME and he said they are projected to last around 30 hours on a full charge when new, aided by the fact that the new controller uses "WiFi Direct" technology which is quicker than standard wireless but also uses less power at the same time!Pros: No more disposable batteries * the battery pack fits well into the controller and doesn't rattle * 4 hours to fully charge and it can charge in standby mode * the cable is a decent length and feels like it will last * good value given how much disposable batteries costs * Last a long time on a chargeCons: other than not being able to check the charge level through the console there are none.VERDICT: Some people will say it's wrong that you have to buy a battery pack in the first place and that it should be built in, yet I look at it the other way, if it's built in completely and can't be removed then you have to fork out for a new controller when the battery dies and they're not cheap. I love the fact that when it's plugged into the console you effectively have a wired controller and the fact it can be charged while the console is in standby mode is a bonus. This is essential if you're serious about gaming and it will save you loads of money in the long run as disposable batteries are expensive as we all know!RECOMMENDED!UPDATE 8th December 2013: I am consistently getting 22+ hours from the battery, one tip i would give is to remove the battery pack when the controller isn't being used or charged as this does seem to help hold its charge!UPDATE February 2014: There has since been an update to the Xbox One Console which has added a battery level indicator at the home screen

Packaging:The product came packaged in a light and compact box. It was delivered to my house the same day that I ordered it so timing was no issue in delivery. It worked perfectly the second I got it up until the time of me writing this review. I have thoroughly used this product already and I am still yet to find a fault with it.Inside of the packaging came the product itself along with helpful installation instructions. I myself did not fit the product first try but after a quick scan over the installation guide it was very clear on what to do.Product:For a parent of a child who loves to play xbox non-stop, I hate buying expensive batteries, this kit means that I no longer buy batteries and it works out a lot cheaper in the long run.Definitely recommend you to buy this!My overall opinion of this product is strongly positive. I feel that because of the great aesthetics of the product and the great price that it has, it is definitely worth a try and I strongly recommend this to anyone who is wanting any product similar to this.Product Specification:Always ready- Charges while you play and when the console is in standby mode.- Fully charges in under 4 hours*.- Up to 30 hours of battery life on a single charge.- Say goodbye to AA disposable batteries.Additional featuresContents: Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery Pack and Charging Cable (9 foot USB to Micro-USB).LED charging indicator on the cable itself.*when charging from the Xbox One consoleOther Characteristics:Battery life (max): 30 hBattery recharge time: 4 hBattery technology: Lithium-IonColour of product: BlackPackage type: BoxPurpose: Gaming controlQuantity: 1Disclaimer:I have taken time and effort in order to write a helpful review on this product and it would be much appreciated if you did find this review helpful that you vote helpful on my review. Just bought a second one of these. The reason being, both my son and I have the Elite controller.(If you don't know what this is, it's around £100!!! But... Is fully programmable controller upgrade and has Four extra paddles underneath that you can assign to what ever you like, there are different length joysticks it's brilliant for serious gaming)BUT... It doesn't come with a rechargeable battery AND it absolutely EATS AA batteries, We have managed to get through a set in a day easily. So looking for a rechargeable option, I only bought X1 battery to start with as some say that once you put battery in the Elite controller you can't get the battery cover on.(I assumed because of the underneath paddles the battery housing would be smaller). So thought would just try it first. In fact when it came I thought this was the case, the battery fits in fine, but I couldn't get the cover on. I have cycle handle bar tape around my controller grips (yes we are very serious gamers!), so had resigned myself to just putting some tape over to keep the battery in...However my teenage son came home and via the power of being good at this stuff, got the cover on!! Have to say was amazed - It is not broken or warped or split it's just on and all is well. The supplied charging lead is just about long enough to reach to where I like to game and fits into a port that's on the front of the Elite controller. So I suppose if it ran low on power while playing I could just plug it in and carry on.Btw if you don't have a teenager available to sort it out - the battery is very snug in its place and didn't drop out while I was having a first go with it - without the cover on.Have asked #1 son how he did it? Says that "it's a snug fit", that he made sure the battery was pushed well in and when replacing the cover "slid it in very carefully making sure the cover fastenings where really lined up well"Does make me wonder why the Elite controller didn't come with a rechargeable battery in the first place???!!!!

My son recently decided he had to switch from being a PS4 user to an Xbox one user. Long story but his friends were all on Xbox One and not PS4. Shame he hadn't realised this before the elves got busy last December but there you go.Obviously as a PS4 user, he had the luxury of wireless controllers with rechargeable batteries that you simply plugged in to the front of the PS4 to top up every now and then. It was therefore a bit of a shock when we got the Xbox One and this was no longer the case and battery eating became a household pastime. It may seem like a fairly trivial thing but constantly having to replace (and make sure you have in the house) batteries is a bit of a pain in the backside and after one sulky Sunday afternoon,I thought I'd look to see if there was a better way. There is, and this is it.OK this isn't dirt cheap, but it's well worth it in my opinion for the convenience and useability. I dare say that over the next year or two, the cost of the unit will also be covered by the savings on batteries. Even buying batteries cheaply at Aldi meant that we were burning through at least £2 worth a week - so £100 over a year. It adds up quite quickly! This gives you exactly the same functionality as we had with the PS4 controller. You get a rechargable battery module which fits snugly into your Xbox one controller, and then you connect this to the Xbox via a cable. You can play as it charges and when it's full you can simply disconnect. Why didn't Microsoft include this as standard? No idea. I think they must have worked out that they'd get away with it.I looked at a variety of non branded alternatives, and settled on this official Microsoft unit. It was a few ££ more expensive but I think it's worth it for the peace of mind, plus I don't want anything exploding while charging. This is simply a MUST HAVE accessory for any Xbox user. It should have come as standard but it doesn't, but you'll get the cost back in a few months if not sooner on the savings on batteries.

As a PS player and one who tends to buy the Xbox family slightly later - but has both consoles as I enjoy playing on both - I recently bought my Xbox One, and realised it was more economical to get the rechargeable batteries, this is a great addition to the controller, and the battery fits in the opposite way around and has different connector plug, so it only fits one way in, so no risk of errors.I do agree with comments i have heard, that when you want to buy a new battery, you have to buy the cable also, it would be good if they just sold the battery as an option, for those who already have the cables.Battery time is good and I can play for a few days (Solidly!) with no recharging, defiantly better than the PS4 which is about a day, also PS4 controllers have the battery built in, so to change it you need to remove the fixing screws and disassemble the controller! [bad design!]One odd thing I found yesterday, I have two controllers and 2 play and charge kits (one controller came with the charge kit), the battery on my controller was flat, so I swapped the battery, and put the other controller on charge, but it wouldn't charge [?] So I swapped the batteries back, put the controller I had been using with the flat battery on charge [IT WORKED] and used the other controller.Even though the batteries were identical, it didn't like me swapping the batteries over even though both batteries and controllers are the same [WEIRD!!!]. Slightly annoying, but if I keep each battery in their respective controllers all is good...Definitely worth getting, and highly recommended, cable is over 2m so can be used as a wired controller also. Now we need Microsoft to make a separate battery charger, so we can be charging batteries outside the controller - thus keeping some fully charged when needed!Has anyone else experienced this?

Does what I expected it to. Just plugged it in and away I go. Being able to game all day without that dreaded battery symbol coming up is a relief. No more rummaging around for batteries right in the middle of a boss fight now.Plug & play makes this a God send.I’ve spent more than the cost of this on rechargeables that last only a fraction of the time.It fits where the normal batteries would do, so you don’t need to worry about colour coding your controller, as your battery cover still fits over this and you’d never even know it was there.Would recommend.Dec 2019 Update - Now had for over 2 years and still going strong.Partner after keep “borrowing” mine (I somehow ended up relegated back to the rechargeable batteries!)got one for Xmas.He was using those “rechargeable battery packs with docking units” Which as I heard about frequently to justify the afore mentioned redeployment of my battery pack, apparently are rubbish compared as they never seem to charge properly or actually hold the charge assuming you ever managed to get it to connect. We had several docking station battery packs so we could have them on rotation (one on charge, one in use) and this pack eradicated the need for that - and it was as cheap as one of those packs which seemed like a no brainer once I found this item on here. You can use it wireless, but for how long the cable is (9 foot/1.5mtrs) and how long the battery charge lasts, you don’t need to sit on top of the tv whilst it charges. This really has been a game changer - pun totally intended. Would 100% recommend - these should come as standard with every controller or console purchase being as they are genuine products.

I suppose the reason I put off buying a play and charge kit for so long is that I wasn't too fond of the Xbox 360 version. It suffered from issues such as loose connection, cable too short, battery running down too quickly and annoying background noise when using party chat with it plugged in.All of these issues are gone now, and it is generally a vast improvement. The kit seems to have a much higher build quality than the 360 version. The cable is a lot less bulky this time around, but that doesn't make it feel weaker at all. The micro USB connection into the controller, and the USB connection into the console both look very sleek, in keeping with the style of the console, and feel well built. The loose connection issue from the previous version appears to be gone, with very little wiggle in the connection. The 2.8m cable allows for plenty of maneuvering around the room.Just as with the 360 version, the controller connection has a small LED that indicates the status of the battery, orange for charging and green for full. A small touch that I don't believe was around on the 360 version, is a small vibration in the controller when the cable is successfully connected. There is an icon on the top right corner of the dashboard that indicates when it is charging, and what the battery level is when not charging.I typically get around 25 hours of life from it, although I have a bad habit of leaving it on when not using it, so in terms of gameplay hours, may be a little less.As is typically standard with Microsoft products, the packaging was very high quality, but nothing of any particular note.

I made the mistake on the 360 of buying the cheaper versions of the play and charge kits. The cables were good but the rechargeable battery packs didn't last long at all. I've learnt my lesson since then and when buying an accessory like this i always buy genuine now and it pays for itself in a very short time. The recharge cable is over 2.5m with this so there is plenty of length to reach from your Xbone to wherever you're sitting. The battery pack itself slides into where you would normally place your AA batteries and the the plastic cover you already have for the back slides over the pack giving it a nice looking, smooth finish, so you wouldn't even know theres a battery pack in there. It charges up very quickly, there is a light on the micro usb end of the cable that changes from yellow (charging) to white when the controller is fully charged. The charge lasts a very long time in my experience, i've had this kit a few months now and i haven't lost any total charge time after numerous recharges so the batteries inside the pack are of excellent quality as you would expect from microsoft. When the battery is low you will get a few warnings on your screen way before the battery will actually run out.Buying one of these means you don't have to mess around with the hassle and expense of AA batteries anymore, just plug your cable in and carry on playing (funnily enough that's what it's called). Or if you prefer you can take the pack out and keep it plugged in and use it as a wired controller.Highly recommend this kit. 5 stars!

I'd read a lot of reviews about how long the batteries lasted on the XBOX One when using regular batteries. Now I don't know if I've been gaming too much, but I'd gotten through 6 of the things since getting the XBOX One about a month ago! When they go you start to lose the rumble functionality so I was getting fed up of having to replace "not quite dead batteries".I almost went for a 3rd party make, but when I'd see a few of the reviews on here quoting 20+ hours of battery time - compared to the 6-8 that the cheaper alternatives were quoting I figured it'd be better to pay a little more and get the official version. It arrived promptly from Amazon as always.Fits perfectly into the battery bay on the controller,no rattle/gap and no excess weight added. The USB cable which comes with it is a very good length, and has a little LED in the micro USB connector which lights up orange when charging and white when fully charged up. I'd say it takes around 3-4 hours from empty for a full charge. So far after a week or so of use the battery life is great - now they've added the battery indicator to the OS, its easily lasting the 20 odd hours people have quoted on here. Very pleased with the purchase - not going to get into the whole debate about whether or not it should have been a standard inclusion with the XBOX One - all I can say is I'm doing my part for the environment with this option! ;)Don't mess around with cheap 3rd party alternatives, stick with the official one in my opinion.

I have used these along with other brands of battery packs and would say this is by the far the best one. Don't let the price put you off because you really do get what you pay for compared to other brands that are not as durable. The main feature which, for me, seperates this from any other pack and is the reason why I'll always stick with this one is the packs ability to stop charging when full. Other packs if left on charge for too long will damage the battery and can kill the life span of a charge. The official one, however, will stop charging the battery when full, but the cable can be left in to be used as a wired controller instead without damaging the battery. When I play on my own,I'll usually sit close enough to the TV so the cable is reaches, so will keep it plugged in to use as a wired controller. Then, if I'm playing with others or want to sit on the sofa I'll unplug it.Battery life is very good and would last me a couple of days without the need to charge. However, I have had this pack for nearly 4 years and it still works! The only difference is the pack now only lasts an hour or so. Still, not bad for 4 years!I know other brands look tempting because if the price or because it comes with too, but this battery will last longer than those othee two put together.

Functionality: This battery pack actually lasts longer than the battery of the PS4 controller, but not as long as actual AA batteries. However they do last for quite a while, especially for me around 20 hours of gaming time per charge.Design: The actual battery pack is quite small and can be inserted into the controller quite easily, and the cable has a light that changes colour when charging to let you know the controller has finished charging.Durability: I have been using these for a good few months now and there have been no signs of the battery capacity decreasing, or any faults. Hope it stays that way. However the cable can sometimes not charge due to the design of the actual controller, where it is inserted need to be strengthened...Price: Well these are a good investment for an okay price, instead of buying batteries over and over again you can just charge these in your controller through your Xbox, or socket if you have the appropriate plug! I have brought 4, one for every controller I have!

Is a much high quality battery than cheaper versions first of all is a LI, battery no a Ni batter so it will LAST longer and won't form what's known as battery memory.Li is the battery tech used in electric cars, and mobile phones so its designed to last long term and be charged OVER and OVER again. The battery fits inside the xbox remote and the battery cover goes over the top as if it had normal AA battery's in so if you don't have your charge cable with you and your at a friends you can easily just put some AA battery's in and have the cover on as normal. The cable length is prefect distance to plug in if you go flat while playing, of course you don't need to be plugged in if your fully charged.I advise anyone looking at cheaper charge kits to check the type of battery used as I had Ni battery packs in the past and threw them out after a few months.

Its basically a rechargeable battery pack that replaces the OEM 2xAA. It is well made and fits tightly with no wobble/flex in the pad despite the new rubble motors in the xbox1 pad.The microUSB to USB cable is of high quality and is roughly 3m long. It has a very cool LED on the microUSB end that indicates that its charging(orange) and fully charged(white).I dont know how the USB cable knows the gamepad is charged but it works very nicely, I will have to try it out on my phone or similar. It also comes with a 2 day XBOX-LIVE voucher. When I first got it took about 3hrs charge(I was using it at the same time) and so far has lasted all weekend(20hrs?)with Forza which makes uses of the rubble motors heavily.Very happy.I think its worth buying if you are a heavy user or hate finding a dead gamepad with no 2xAA's in the house.

I've been this product for nearly half a year now and it's saved me a fortune in batteries. I don't normally sit too far from my TV so the wired controller dosent really bother me and vastly outweighs the need for annoying batteries, which always seem to run dry at the worst possible times! The best feature of this product is that the battery pack can be fully charged and then placed in a second controller, whilst keeping the wire in the first controller, allowing for 2 controllers to be used without the need for any batteries whatsoever.I highly recommend this product for anyone with the intention of using there Xbox one long term.As you will probably make your money back just In battery cost alone! The battery pack seems to last ages when charged and is a must for any controller.Great productRating 5/5

Having used charge and play on XB360 and grown accustomed to its ease of use, durability and reliability, I approached getting the XBone C&P because of the broadly negative reviews with some level of caution postponing for several weeks and chewing through 4 pack of Duracell a week, but taking the plunge and haven't regrettedit since, reminds me of my old Nokia 3330 in that charging's pretty much once a week despite marathon sessions of GTA5 and COD AW.Some people have experienced duff battery packs, like a couple of people I know, but their purchases were from other sites claiming authentic MS OEM but the packaging was off in comparison to my purchase,so be aware of knock-offs going around.Having stuck with MS C&P I'm unable to draw comparisons with other 3rd party alternatives.
