I have played so many hours with a Xbox 360 controller, so much so that it feels only natural just to pick one up. But now that they've stopped making the things, I thought it would be best to take it to the next level. It was around this point where I cringed at the price of the Xbox One controller and waited patiently for a sale. After I finally picked one up on discount, it didn't take long to get the thing working. In fact, it was as good as straight out the box. My initial thoughts of the controller is that it is quite simply too small. The grips are not large enough for a grown man's hands. I also felt that the analogue sticks are too loose. The Xbox 360 controller had a good bit of strength behind the sticks and that is sadly missing here. It's nice to have a working d-pad on an Xbox controller. It works nicely with older games that require it (hello, Contra!).Unfortunately, the packing for the controller is pretty bare bones. You literally have a controller in a box. There's no mini-USB cable to plug it in to your computer. A little accessory which would have been a wonderful little touch, especially if Microsoft want to encourage people to use their online PC store. This meant that I had to hook it up with either my phone charger cable or buying the required items to use it wireless. I chose the latter.I bought a battery pack with a charger as well as a blue tooth dongle to connect it to my PC. Cost me a whopping £20 in total. This worked perfectly and haven't had any real issues with it. This Xbox One controller is a pretty fine controller, all things considered. It's not perfect, especially for someone with strong large hands like myself. But I feel a lot safer using this thing than those awful things Sony keep making, as an example. My main issue with this controller is the price. Why is it so expensive? I find it hard to believe people are happy buying Xbox One controllers for £50. It's very much like the price of modern games, an absolute rip off. It's one of the many reasons that I refuse to buy a modern age console as I just can't justify spending that much on games and accessories.I wouldn't say that this controller is the best option out. I find my Steam controller to be considerably more comfortable and customisable. It certainly needs improving in places. But it's as good as it's likely to get, unfortunately.

The Xbox One S controller is another major step forward for Microsoft in terms of the quality of the parts and manufacturing processes it’s using for its products. The 2015 controller revision, which introduced the 3.5mm headphone jack, featured better buttons and more resistant control sticks. The S amps up all of this with buttons that have a premium action. This stands out with the sticks, which have a more even resistance and smoother rotation around the border of their wells. If you’ve used an Xbox One controller for any extended period of time, you’ve likely noticed a chalky dust that builds up around the ball-bearing area of the stick. Microsoft claims to have solved this, and the analog sticks feel great because of these improvements.Beyond the buttons and sticks, the controller uses strong and light materials. The hand grips, where you hold the pad with your inner knuckles and palms, now has a textured coating. This prevents the device from slipping whether you use a light squeeze or a death lock to hold your controller. One of the other improvements in the One S controller is a stronger radio signal that increases the range of the connection you can have between the Xbox One, a PC, or another device and the gamepad.Based on my testing (going in my backyard and walking away from the house until the controllers stopped working consistently), the range is about 75 percent more than the 2015 Xbox One controller. This is true for both the standard Xbox One wireless connection, which uses a dongle on PC, as well as the new Bluetooth radio. This is one of my favorite new features. If your PC has Bluetooth compatibility, you no longer need the Xbox One Wireless Adapter to use the gamepad without a USB connection.Bluetooth also means you can connect it to smartphones and tablets. I used it with my Nvidia Shield tablet, and the controller worked without flaw for both gamepad-capable mobile apps and PC games I streamed to my device.Overall, this controller does exactly what you need it to.

Ordered this from Scan Computers via the Amazon Marketplace after my cable-connected XBox 360 controller developed a fault after many years faithful service. I've known of Scan for many years, and they have a good reputation, so I was confident to order off the Marketplace on this occasion: it hasn't always been a happy experience. Amazon estimated a delivery date of 30 May to 2 June based on my 22 May order date and standard free delivery, but it actually arrived today, 24 May. Great service from Scan and their Couriers, DPD, under the difficult conditions surrounding Covid-19.There were no instructions on how to turn the unit on once the batteries had been installed,so it took a moment or to to get up and running! Once done, the connection so far has been robust. Input responses are very slightly laggy compared to the cable connected version, but it's only milliseconds, and hasn't detracted from gameplay. A long press on the XBox logo button turns it off to save the batteriesThis controller is slightly heavier than the 360, because of the batteries I guess, but the ergonomics are very similar. These never look as thought they're going to be comfortable in the hand, but they are, and stay so for long periods of gaming. The joysticks are slightly longer than on the 360, and I feel you have finer control over your inputs. The D-Pad is smaller with a shorter button travel, which makes it easier to use. The shoulder buttons, trigger and bump, form a single smooth curve instead of separate trigger and button, but telling them apart under the fingers is easy, and the shape makes it easier to slide your finger trom trigger to bump and back.A little pricy, but a great price from Scan for the controller plus wireless adapter. My original XBox controller lasted for years, and this feels just as robust. I once paid about £20 for a PS style controller, and broke the joystick within a couple of months, so I feel it's worth paying for quality like this. Buy cheap, buy often: pay for quality and save!

At the time of writing this review there are 8 different colours of wireless controller to choose from and this review is based upon the red version. My Husband has been using this new wireless controller with his Xbox One for the last 3 weeks and has also briefly used it with his tablet to test the Bluetooth connectivity.First thing to advise is that this new wireless controller is the same size as the older non-Bluetooth controllers although it does feel slightly heavier in your hand. The buttons and control sticks are all in the same places with the same layout. The main power button is more recessed than the older version and the textured grip is more comfortable. The controller has both a 3.5mm headphone port and original headset connection too.The main difference other than the Bluetooth connectivity is that the X, Y, A and B buttons are not coloured anymore but this isn't an issue to the experienced Xbox gamer and there are coloured dots on the main controller body next to the buttons just in case needed. The controller is really comfortable to handle and my Husband has had no connectivity issues or faults arising with the controller in the last 3 weeks however I will update this review as necessary if any should develop. My Husband has briefly used the Bluetooth with his tablet however the main use has been connected to the Xbox One and his most recent game Sniper 4.

Hands down one of the best controllers ever made. It feels very comfortable in the hand, this is extremely important especially if you game for prolonged periods. The trigger buttons are particularly good for shooter and even driving games. The buttons don't stick and feels premium when pressing. The joy stick is well designed, good height with a decent thumb pad that offers good grip and feels good to touch. The double rumble pack inside give u a more immersive feeling when playing action games. It has a good weight, heavy enough that it doesn't feel like you are holding a cheap plastic toy and light enough that you don't get fatigued playing games for long periods. The controller is well built,it feels strong and durable, you feel confident enough that if you drop it that it wont smash to pieces. For extra protection you could also get some silicone skins. My one complaint is that it doesn't come with rechargeable battery or battery pack. At that price I don't expect to have to keep buying AA batteries or spend an extra £10-15 for a battery pack and charge cable.I find the white controller so pretty I even have it on display to complement my desk set up. I hope Xbox keep this same or similar design for their new generation console it's that good. I highly recommend this official controller.

Bought this controller to use as a wired controller from Go2Games to replace my old wireless one (a Logitech F710).The controller is very good, currently I have not found any faults with it. Compared to my F710, I found it more comfortable to hold and more responsive. As an added extra, I could play without the disconnection problems I had while playing ingame with the older wireless controller. The option for wireless play is there with the Xbox One controller but I'm likely to stick with playing with the wire connected. There is one Minor issue I'd like to point out but it's not much of a problem for me and more to do with how this controller is advertised, not with the product itself. This controller is advertised on the product information that it comes with AA Alkaline Batteries. There were no batteries that came with the controller. I checked the box the controller was in and there's nothing inside to suggest that the product officially comes with the batteries.Either the batteries are packaged separately and were missed out by mistake or it's a case of incorrect product information. So if you plan on using this controller wirelessly, be prepared to spend some extra cash for the AA batteries unless you already have some at home.Other than that, I'm overall happy with this purchase.

Would definitely recommend! For those who want the short story: I would definitely recommend this product. But for those who want an in depth review, here it is:For someone like myself who doesn't really like the idea of a raised left analogue stick, the controller was surprisingly comfortable. It is quite large and perfectly fit into my hands. If you do have smaller hands this could be an issue but for me it was great. All of the buttons are very responsive require reasonable force to press so I have no issue with accidentally pressing any. The triggers feel great and their are rumble motors inside of them, giving you that extra bit of immersion when playing which I really appreciate (for example: it will rumble when shooting a gun or driving a car).I do, however have 2 issues with the controller. The analogue sticks are a bit small for my liking but they are textured for extra grip, without being uncomfortable. Also, I feel like for the cost of the controller, there should be a rechargeable option for free. I understand that there is a Play and Charge Kit but I feel that the controller should already be rechargeable as there is nothing more infuriating than the controller running out of power during a game, especially if you haven't got any AA batteries lying around.

There really isn't much to say about an Xbox controller, especially an officially licensed one, that hasn't already been said a thousand or more times over. It feels well built, the finish on the Special Cyberpunk 2077 one I bought feels nice in the hand and looks awesome. I use mine with my Gaming PC and it works exactly as described and as you'd hope. My only gripe is that the Energizer AA batteries included in the box are PATHETIC, and lasted me all of a week and a half of incredibly light use (maybe up to 1-2 hours a day max). Granted, it's really not a big deal, and It could well be that the batteries bundled with my specific controller were faulty, but do yourself a favour and be prepared to fork out a few extra quid for a pack of decent AA batteries (the pair i since put in almost a month ago are still going strong). Or, and probably the wisest choice, just stick with the cheaper, wired version. As an aside, I really don't understand why Microsoft decided that the Xbox one generation of wireless controller wasn't going to have a rechargeable battery pack, or even one that is available as a separate product? It seems crazy and ridiculously wasteful to be relying on conventional batteries still.

This is the first Microsoft Xbox controller I haven't had to return whether that's bought online or in a shop. They all seem to have the same fault which is the "RT" trigger sticks making it impossible to use properly. This issue has been so bad over the last 3 years that I'm considering binning my xbox and buying a Playstation instead. I'd even go as far as saying that the fault is a calculated ploy by Microsoft to make people spend more and more money on controllers. I've spent over £800 over the last 2 years on just replacement controllers yet every single one with the exception of this particular one has had the same issue with the right trigger sticking. In general, the build quality of Xbox controllers are a disgrace irrespective of which company has made it. I am not being rough with them and I don't abuse them or throw them about so I know my statement is not unreasonable. This particular controller cost £80 and it will be worth it if I can get the use of it for a sustained period of time. The other controllers were virtually unusable after 1 day. Not exactly value for money when you're spending £60 each time. Sorry Microsoft but your built quality leaves alit to be desired !!!!

The official controllers for Xbox and Playstation have always been very expensive and always will be, but in the end, you do get what you pay for, and I've never come across a third party controller that is a patch on the originals, which is especially true here. The red colouring is really nice, especially as it's not a lurid bright red and more of a deeper colour. The choices of colour are varied and make the thought of parting with £45 slightly easier. The surface is very smooth, with the back having textured dots which provide a good overall feel when using it.Bluetooth is as quick as ever, and seamless, so not much to say there. It connected very quickly to my Xbox upon first use and stays connected with no drop outs whatsoever.I've also tested it on my Windows PC and again have experience no issues with the wireless connection, it's a breeze. I've thought ever since the Xbox 360 (remember that) that Microsoft make the best games controllers, and that view is only bolstered by the Xbox One's controller. Best in the game and it's expensive, but a well made product in some very cool colours. I've got my eye on that blue one now.

Pretty much what you would expect. A sturdy, well made controller. Most people buying one of these will likely have had one already but on the off chance you haven't or are a pc gamer looking to upgrade, here's a bit more information. Its heavier than an xbox 360 controller and the sticks are set higher and thinner. This means the rubbers come off the ends a lot less but it also means it takes some getting used to.It still doesn't have an inbuilt battery.... Really Microsoft if 3rd party companies can do this for half the price why can't you?The controller is very solid and doesn't creak like the xbox 360 one did the same though. Its definitely a step up over the old stuff. If you have windows 10 you don't need anything other than Bluetooth to connect this controller however you will need an expensive adapter if you are still on Windows 7.... Which is honestly pretty unacceptable as there's no real reason for this other than Microsoft trying to force the upgrade.

While we do own an Xbox One, we do most of our gaming on two Windows 10 PCs in the house, one of which is connected to a television in our living room. I have used many game controller solutions over the years for Windows, but this controller is by far the best.Highlights:- Acts as a bluetooth device with Windows 10 without the requirement for a dongle to be connected to the PC.- Installation is very easy. You just pair it and Windows does its thing. No additional software to download and install.- Broad compatibility. We use this with our Steam games. We use this with Epic games (Fortnite). We use this with EA games like Star Wars Battlefront and Madden.- Battery life is solid but not spectacular. If you have kids who prefer to game by wireless controller in your house... I assume you've invested in rechargeable batteries already.- The price, when on sale, is great. For $49.99 CDN, you just can't beat this.Highly recommended.

I’ve been using this controller for the last few weeks now and I am enjoying gaming on my PC so much more. The main reason for ordering was to play games on Steam with no wires and a controller that is comfortable and familiar to me so this order is perfect for that. In the package it includes the controller, 2 AA Batteries and the wireless USB Dongle. All that you need to do to get going is insert the USB into your PC/Laptop and press the sync button on it, then press and hold the sync button on the Xbox controller and you should see the white flashing Xbox logo turn to solid white. Once this is all done you should be good to go.The controller feels sturdy and comfortable in my hands and this is the main reason I ordered the official Microsoft controller over cheaper, nastier feeling controllers. All around a great purchase for PC Gamers.• Solid build and Reliable.• Comes with 2 AA Batteries.• No connection issues.• Easy setup.

Playstation owners will always say their controllers have always been and will always be the best, but that's just simply not true. The asymmetrical thumbstick placement on the Xbox controllers has always been far superior and more comfortable in my opinion. Plus, the Xbox One controller has a real D-pad which makes it great for fighting games like Mortal Kombat. On top of all that, they're plug-and-play compatible with most Windows PCs. I've gone through a number of these controllers and use them for both Xbox and PC and love them. They can be used with batteries, or without batteries using the included micro-B USB cable. I was even happier to get my most recent one on sale!I own both the black and white versions, and unless you don't mind your controllers looking grimy (or are willing to spend time cleaning them) I would personally recommend the black versions since they don't seem to get as dirty-looking.
