I've been using the cradle and bundled battery packs for a little while now, and I'm happy enough with my purchase. Overall, this is a very competitively-priced product: a decent alternative to Microsoft's own-brand kit.The product spec neglects to mention that each battery pack is rated at a capacity of 900mAh. You will therefore notice that they don't provide as many hours of gaming as you would get from alkaline AA batteries, or even rechargeable NiMH AAs (typically 2000-3000 mAh). Venom are hoping you'll like the benefit of never really needing to remove the battery packs from your controllers. Rechargeable AAs are fundamentally better batteries, but if you don't want the hassle, these packs do the job.As another user has noted, it's not possible to charge standard Xbox battery packs with this cradle. In the packaging, you'll find a cradle (finished in a high-gloss black plastic), a USB cable (for connection to your Xbox, or other powered USB port of your choice), and two rechargeable battery packs. It does not come bundled with a power adaptor, or an instruction manual, though neither is really necessary at this price point..The cradle is rather light, but does have non-slip feet attached, so it shouldn't move about too much during use. It is powered by a USB cable (male type A to miniUSB), of generous length. The USB ports on the new Xbox 360 S remain powered even when the console itself is on standby, so all works a treat. If you have an older 360, and your USB port is occupied by the wireless adaptor, you'll need to find another powered USB port: Veho do a great 3-pin plug adaptor, which has a single integrated female USB port, typically for less than a fiver. Job done! The cradle has two slots for controllers. Each slot has two spring-loaded metal prongs, to connect with the contacts on the battery packs. The connection feels a little flimsy (and it might take a couple of nudges to get the controller to charge), but again, no complaints for this price. The battery packs themselves are unremarkable: the release catch seems sturdy enough. I noticed that initial drain (time taken to lose one 'bar' of charge) happened considerably more quickly with these rechargeable packs than with alkaline AAs, but have not had any of my kit long enough to have drained any batteries at all, so I'm not in a position to comment on the lifespan of a charge. You'll know when your batteries are charging, too: wave goodbye to your eyesight with two retina-searing green LEDs at the front of the cradle. This could be a bit of a distraction if the cradle is within your field of vision when you're gaming or watching TV, but it's easily rectified. In summary, cradle might be a tad flimsy, and the batteries might not be blessed with all that much in the way of capacity, but together, they certainly do the job, while saving you a bunch of money. Recommended!

I very rarely do reviews on amazon (although I should do more) but I thought now would be a great time to start.I needed a new battery pack for one of my controllers, after a lot of looking the best price for one was around £6. Then I stumbled upon this. When you take into consideration that the whole package is only £11 and the technology and ease of use it has it is an absolute bargain! The package came on time and after opening it, it was a case of simply plugging it in. From there the xbox controllers sit snuggly in the unit. Its safe to say that if you were to put just the battery pack directly into the cradle it is slightly more difficult. But if you have two controllers you shouldn't really need to do this.Quality is of a standard you would expect for the price and other reviews detailing the lights been so bright are correct, although a minor flaw again which can be easily resolved by applying common sense. The whole cradle looks neat and tidy and it has a long enough cable to connect to which ever device you like. Also bare in mind it is a USB connection but if, like me and every other person in the world, you have a phone then you can use the plug off that charger to plug directly into a mains socket. Another thing to note although again not really significant is that the battery packs do weigh slightly more than the standard ones but are of a high quality and fit well within the controllers. The actual charging time is quick and charges do last quite a significant amount of time so no worries there.Overall I couldn't be happier with this product and can't recommend it highly enough. When you take into account that included are two battery packs and charging cradle, there simply is no better alternative to charging your controllers.

The absolute best option on the market for charging xbox 360 controllers. I've had it for over a year now, maybe even two (I'm aware this isn't an amazon verified purchase as I got it from tesco but I assure you I do own it) and it's never had a fault. It charges quickly, the lights change colour to indicate when it's fully charged, and a charged controller lasts a very long time. I had the xbox play and charge kit twice as well as another version of it, and they always break, this is a much better product. Highly recommended. My setup is to play with one, then charge it when it dies and pick up the other one. I don't leave them in the dock as I didn't want to overcharge the batteries and have only just seen the "auto cut-off" feature on amazon,so I may do now. Note that the lights are very bright when controllers are docked, so if, like me, you have your xbox in your bedroom (or whatever usb port you will charge these from) then they have the potential to disturb you at night, hence another reason why I don't leave the controllers in all the time. All in all, for one player it's perfect as you always have one fully charged controller. If there are 2 or more of you playing it may be problematic if your controller dies while the other play is using the second, so you may want to consider actually buying another controller and venom battery pack (available separately)... If you don't play for more than about 8 hours at a time (I should hope you don't!) and keep it charged in between plays though, you shouldn't have a problem with just 2 controllers as the charge lasts ages.

Bought this a while ago, although i didnt buy it from Amazon because it was out of stock, i found a company which had it stocked and sent me it out for around the same price. The dock is great, a lot of people complain about the bright lights but i honestly dont mind, it sits underneath my mounted tv so isnt too much of an issue for me with a highly bright tv. The charge is great, never ran out of charge and i occasionally game for 3-4 hours on the trot. Battery packs are also easy to fit and look great. Also the simplicity of just dropping in the controller and it charges is just genius. Now, MY charger as i found out a couple of days ago after having the charger is slightly faulty.I only ever use one controller so the second controller just sits in the dock with the green light, whether this is my fault for leaving it sitting in there, although the description says it has a @cant overcharge feature@ the second battery pack says its charging/charged but doesnt actually power my controller, and honestly for me this isn't a problem because i just dont need to fuss of sending it back cause it does what it needs to do for me.This will probably only be for me so i may have just received a faulty battery pack. One disappointing thing is that Venom don't produce the battery packs separetly which is totally understandable but frustrating for the customer in i.e. my position. But overall 4 stars as cant fault it for what i wanted it to do! Great buy for such a low cost!

Yesterday I ordered a double package from Amazon. Not only have I received the most perfect ergonomic fitting Molyhood Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and a very stylish Venom Xbox 360 Twin Docking Station with not one but 2 Rechargeable Batteries ,sold as a package deal by Amazon. But it’s not any old deal it’s perfect! The controller fits perfectly into your hands, but it’s also extremely lightweight compared to other controllers, meaning you don’t have to grip it as tightly, which always made my fingers stiff within an hour of gameplay. While trialling it out today I played for 5 hour, the first time in 10 months I might add, without any finger stiffness at all.I found the controls to be crisp to use and very responsive to my commands. On top of all that the sleek black design goes perfectly with my Xbox 250gb Standard Black Slim.In fact it’s far better than the original Microsoft one. When I finished playing I placed it on the smart Twin Charging Docking Station That has a beautiful shiny black finish, plugged it in using the included USB cable and left it to charge one of the two battery packs that were included in the kit.Far far better than the one that comes with the original Xbox and takes disposable batteries.I used to need shares in a battery company for when my son used to play all weekend, but not anymore. All in all a very worthwhile investment for £35.98.I shall be buying from these merchants again!Excellent Sales and Service Guys.Thank you.S666CSS

I have had several official Xbox chargers over the years and there has always been a problem or quirk when charging them. For example my last one would say it was fully charged as soon as the Xbox was turned off, so could only be charged while playing. The two previous ones had different issues. This, has none.I have it plugged in to my Xbox through USB (it comes with no mains adaptor which would have been nice) and it charges even when the Xbox is turned off (through my Slim at least) so it is just a case of putting the controller back in the dock when I go to bed. It only takes a few hours to charge up and of course if the battery runs out there is always the spare. The only downside is that the packs don't charge properly unless there is some sort of pressure on them.So if you don't have two controllers to put them in, you will have to put a weight of some kind on the spare battery to charge it. I do have a spare Xbox controller for it so it isn't a problem. When I was testing it out though it didn't need much pressure. I rested my PS3 controller on top of it and that did the trick. So not really a problem, just a slight inconvenience. So overall a fantastic product and one I couldn't recommend highly enough if like me, you hit the Xbox pretty hard most days.

I bought this because my wired controllers kept breaking as when the wire starts coming loose and theres no battery slot then thats it. Not the safest investment.I used to have a battery charger where you take the battery out the controller and then place it into the charger.... do not do this with this charger! It does say not to on the instruction to be fair but basically I short wired one of the charger ports so I only have one that works now. Not a problem though! I leave one charging in the working port while I play. The battery life is excellent, probably a good 8 hours or something. Then as soon as the controller starts flashing,I swap straight away safe in the knowledge I've got another 8 hours and don't have to worry about wires coming loose. The only down side to this charger is that the battery needs to be INSIDE a controller and then you place the controller on the charger like in the pic so you need a spare controller. Apparently you can "plug and play" but honestly you would have to balance it precariously on your lap or something it's not really practical. Wasn't a problem for me though I have loads of decrepit controllers that are past their shelf life and I absolutely love this product! 5*

After years of forking out for new batterys every few weeks, I finally got around to ordering some rechargable ones, and at this price I couldn't really go wrong. Postage was prompt and the box in which the cradel came was suprisingly good quality- both strong and sturdy. After a 2 minute set-up my controllers were charging and in two hours they were ready to go. Quick and simple. The only down sides that I can see, and the reason I dropped it a star was the build quality. At £15, I never expected it to be brilliant, but it does the job even if it does feel a bit flimsy and plasticy. After all, it is the controllers I throw against the wall, not the cradle! The other minor issue is the fact that even though the controllers read as fully charged for hours, if I remove them from the cradle for even a second, without turning them on, when they are replaced the cradle spends 10 more minuets charging them. This doesn't change the fact that the controllers have always been fully charged every time I have wanted to use them, but it does make it hard to completely know if the controllers do indeed need charging.Overall, a good product at a great price and does everything that you need it to do!

Just to give a bit of background. I brought the product way back in September 2010 and have been using it ever since. I am quite an avid gamer and usually use the pads for quite some time in a day.Pros:The charge pack is very cheap. The price of 2 packs of 4 AA batteries is about the same! For the amount of money it has saved me in batteries it is worth it alone. It's also a cheap alternative to plug and play charge kits.Compared to the plug and play charge kits you can charge 2 pads at the same time, rather than just the one pad.You can charge your pads when your Xbox is off.The cradle is a nice neat way to hold your pads when your not using them. The pads definitely held their charge for 5-6hours of gaming for me.Cons:The cradle does seem quite plasticy and cheap. One of my battery packs just completely died. There is a large bump in the back of the pack (considering nearly a year's use though).I cannot seem to find anywhere to buy extra battery packs that work without the cradle, without just buying another cradle. So despite my grievances, I think it's more than paid for itself. Considering buying another new one to replace the dead battery.

I have had a few different charging solutions from the original Microsoft plug and play charger, a cheap battery and charger and now this. The distinct advantage of this is that for the price, you are getting two batteries and chargers. As others have said, it comes with no instructions but really, what do you need? I am not sure how long a charge would last in use as every time I finish with the console, I just drop it back in the cradle and it's fully charged next time I want it. Also if I really did want a long session on a game, I could use the other one while the first is charging so there is no major issue for me. I do have a couple of criticism.Sometimes when I have dropped it back on charge I need to poke it to get it to charge properly as it might have missed the small contacts on the back of the battery. The second is that that LED lights on the front are quite large and looks quite odd compared with the sleek black look of the charger, it would have been nicer to have smaller, less intrusive LED's. These are only minor criticisms though. In summary, for the money, you can't really go wrong can you!

If you're a gamer who spends countless hours playing away, this is definitely one product that comes in very handy and even for the casual gamer I'd say. Batteries are still very expensive and when you play games often it's just an added expense that isn't necessary when you could have something like this. I've had my charging cradle for a number of months now and it's just been great to have, I had another from another brand before hand and I got years of use out of it, before the batteries eventually held their charge for an hour or so and then it got silly. These chargers make playing games much more enjoyable, the minute one batteries dead, you switch to the fully charged one and put the dead one on charge and within minutes your back to your game playing away without issue. It's also great for when you play two player, the charge times really not bad at all and within an hour or so its charged and ready to go again, so great for two player gamers as well. Overall its a product that saves time, money and overally makes gaming more enjoyable.

At first i was put off by this potentially looking "ugly" compared to some others on the market, but to be quite honest it looks amazing next to the black xbox with a black controller docked! :) So far i've only used 1 battery and the other is a spare - I've also been using the xbox all day in some cases and just drop the controller to charge at night. (Never dropped below 75% after 8+ hours of gameplay)Red light when the battery is charging..Green light when the battery is charged!Further to this you can just place the battery on it's own into the cradle and it will charge :) you probably wont need to though! - save for the first charge. It's not a micro USB cable on the back which connects to the dock,it's a slightly bigger connection which i've been looking for as my portable HDD cable had gone (HDD is a few years old) HAPPY DAYS! :D - this of course has no bearing on YOUR purchase but worth a mention.. Leave it connected to your XBOX for 24/7x365 charging due to the XBOX power adaptor running in trickle mode.

I bought this because the previous double battery pack from venom require the controllers to be plugged in which meant the USB plugs eventually started to bend and loosen as I left the controllers the right way up, So I decided I needed a dock. The dock feels horribly cheap but looks fine when actually set up, the lights on the front are horribly bright and I have dimmed them using permanent marker so they don't blind me as I'm playing. The batteries however unfortunately do NOT have the USB port in the back so you can't play while your controller is charging unlike the dock-less packs they sold. I still have the old packs, so not an issue, but if you don't have these,I'd just suggest rotating your batteries if you're playing alone. To be honest this has only been an issue when I no-lifed GTA5 on it's release for around 9 hours solid, twice in 2 days!! The battery life for all venom batteries is astounding!!!Well worth it for the money, save the environment and money and throw away your awful AA battery packs.

I've had mine since late 2010, and it's still going strong. I see from the other reviews some folks have had problems. So there could be a quality control issue, obviously if there is send it back. I get about twelve hours worth of charge from the battery packs. They sit very snugly in the controllers. The cradle itself is very light weight, but the controllers fit comfortably in it and look neat. The front LED's are quite big, slightly bigger than the controller Xbox button. They glow red for charging and green for charged, so you definately know when your controller is fully cooked. I've never properly timed it, but I think it's around 40 mins give or take if the battery is fully flat.Charge time seems to be slower when the Xbox is on standby, but they do still charge.Other than that what can I say? There may be better ones out there now, but for a very reasonable asking price, this thing has saved me a fortune in batteries over the past seventeen or so months, so I highly recommend it.

Just got the new shiney black xbox 360 and decided to get the venom charger and a second controller. When the charger arrived it matched the xbox perfectly. This also means that it is just as much a fingerprint magnet as the xbox so if you suffer OCD then you will be wiping them constantly. The charger is well made but very light but keeps the controllers charged perfectly. The lights are quite bright but not so much to cause distractions unless you live in the dark. There are no instructions at all and you have to figure out what the lights mean but they are pretty logical, red for charging, green for charged and flashing red for nearly charged. If you plug it into the xbox then it is on permenant charge but if,like me, you have a mains socket usb adaptor then you can use this instead and turn it off if you dont need to charge your controllers. Overall I am very satisfied with the style and function of the venom charger and would recommend it to anyone with a xbox to keep things going.
