I recently bought a PS4 and needed an additional controller for when friends drop by. This is exactly the same as the one that comes with the PlayStation Console although keep in mind that when bought separately the controller does NOT come with a charging cable, so you will either need to buy an additional cable (Mini USB to USB 3.0) or use the one that comes with the console. There are 3 colour options available, "jet black" which is the standard colour, "magma red" and "wave blue". The only difference between them is the face-plate colour and everything else is identical. So down to the nuts and bolts of the controller, what do i think of it? Well ergonomically it is a huge step forward over the old DuelShock 3,the shape of the grips are such that there is enough room for your whole hands to fit around the controller. The back of the controller is fitted with a different texturized plastic to that on the front which is smooth and it provides lots of grip yet is comfortable at the same time. The triggers are leaps and bounds ahead of the old DuelShock 3 as anyone who owned a DuelShock 3 will testify, now your fingers rest on them perfectly thanks to their new trigger shape. The L1 and R1 buttons have been reshaped too and are easier to use at the same time. The D-Pad has also be reshaped slightly and flattened which allows your thumb to rest in the middle and easily select which directional button you want. There is a new "touch pad" and speaker which will be used in different ways in different games, although i feel they could be of great use in strategy games and i look forward to seeing how developers utilize them in the future, in Killzone: Shadow fall for example you use the touch pad to control "OWL" who is a drone. The Cross, Circle, Triangle and Square buttons have been flattened slightly but have a nice feel to them, they are now digital rather than analogue buttons which means when you press them it always registers too! Finally onto the thumb-sticks, they are a marked improvement over the ones on the DuelShock 3. This time around there is no risk of your fingers slipping off and the rubber they have used feels nice and grippy. I also prefer the slightly smaller size of these compared to the DuelShock 3 controller (yet not as ridiculously small as the Xbox One controller). Gone are the days when your fingers on both thumb-sticks would touch as they have been spaced further out which feels better as well!Just like before the DuelShock 4 has a built-in battery (so no worrying about disposable batteries) and can be charged through the console even when it's in standby mode. At the bottom of the controller is a headphone jack where you can plug the headset that comes with the console but also 3rd party headsets in the future. There is a lightbar on the top of the controller which identifies which player number you are (player 1 is blue by default). My one gripe with this controller in that the lightbar can't be turned off so if you sit directly in front of the TV then you find the light keeps reflecting in the screen (or certainly i had that problem).PROS: A huge improvement in virtually every way over the DuelShock 3 controller * Feels ergonomic and comfortable * textured plastic on the back provides lots of grip * built-in battery * triggers now look and operate like proper triggers * rumble (vibration) motors feel dramatically better * touch pad seems an interesting idea * Thumb-sticks are perfect in shape, size and material used * Works off Bluetooth so low power consumption * Controller doesn't feel too heavy or light * you have a choice of colours!CONS: The lightbar can't be turned off or dimmed so it can reflect in your tv * no charging cable is included * as much as i like built-in batteries, if they fail you need to fork out for a new controller! * Expensive considering we know they cost around £11 each to manufacturerVERDICT: If you buy a PS4 then you will already have one of these controllers but like many people if a friend comes around you will need a spare. I also needed one for my girlfriend as when a new "little big planet" game comes along we like playing in co-op.This is the best PlayStation controller yet, even taking into account the small problems i list. RECOMMENDED!

There's not really that much you can say about the DualShock 4 that hasn't been said already. It's almost unanimously considered the most comfortable controller Sony have ever produced, it's extremely responsive and it seems to take a fair bashing pretty well too. Though of course I'd not recommend you going around lobbing it on the deck in fits of gaming rage. Everyone knows the analog stick rubbers were a bit suspect in the beginning, lots of people moaned and still moan about the light bar as it is a battery drainer and yeah consequently the battery life is not the best but most of us have more than one of these controllers by now so that issue is manageable by always keeping your spare/spares charged. Now on to this specific 20th Anniversary Edition, well what a glorious retro looker bit of kit eh! And as you can see in my attached pics even the packaging has been specially designed and is absolutely perfect! As I write this I'm waiting for mine to arrive which has already been dispatched by Amazon, well it is the early hours on release day and I am on the other side of Europe after all so no dramas there. Just having seen it in stock at my local independent game shop yesterday and having had a real close inspection of it whilst there made me a whole lot more impatient for mine to get here as soon as! I didn't ever actually plan on using it anyway, it was always going to be the special DS4 for my display collection but with that unique packaging and there only being this one batch of them being produced it's all the more a definite keeper. That said I don't think the numbers being manufactured are in such short supply, but when they're gone then they're gone as Sony have confirmed they won't be pumping any more out, it was a one time production run. There are those who will moan about it costing a tenner more than the other colours, in fact they already have thinking about it, but I don't see that as an issue at all. There are even some moaning about it not being to the exact spec of the controller that came supplied with that very limited 20th anniversary edition console of last year which defies belief. For everyone apart from those lucky 12,000 people dotted around the world who have one of those very special PS4's this is the best we're going to get but hey it is still just so cool and such a must have product!Edit: Amazon have to be commended for their amazing service yet again! This DS4 dispatched from Bedfordshire Monday afternoon by standard service and it has reached me here in rural Eastern Austria on the Friday morning in perfect condition of course, absolutely superb!

It's Saturday morning, I'm a Brit marooned in Austria and the Österreichische Post don't do Saturdays at all, it's only very recently they've started doing deliveries exclusively for amazon.de Prime which I'm not a member of. So imagine my surprise when the door bell rang and there was a Post Office van outside with a postie on overtime delivering my Vader DS4 dispatched by Amazon France only two days ago, what a result! If you're wondering why I got it from amazon.fr it's because they had it up for $59.99(£42) which is great value and was enough to convince me to add yet another DS4 to my ever growing arsenal of PS4 controllers. And wow I'm glad I did because it's gorgeous,I don't plan on using it so it's going to go in my collection unit along with the 20th anniversary edition but I need to work out a way of displaying it because the packaging doesn't have a 'window'. This Star Wars beauty really is much too eye catching to be hidden inside a box so I shall definitely be going out of my way to find something suitable to keep it pristine whilst showing it off.Seeing I am not using it and it's already back in the box after having only been taken out for a few pics I've attached I can't comment on the technical spec and responsiveness of it. I was reading somewhere that Sony have implemented a modified mechanism in the triggers to make them respond quicker and a new battery that's meant to last about 15% longer from this model onward which really won't be a minute too soon as we all know the battery life on the DS4 is not great, ok it's shockingly poor to be blunt.I was of the opinion that the retro 20th anniversary edition was hands down the Dualshock 4 of the year but this offering served up by the dark side trumps it by a country mile! From the Star Wars logo embossed touchpad to the Vader and Luke lightsaber coloured triggers the attention to detail is second to none, this controller is a must for any budding Jedi/Sith but it's also a mighty impressive addition for Playstation owners that aren't necessarily fans of the film seriesThere is a slight premium on the price of this specific edition compared with most of the others so shop about a bit because you can always find stuff you want a tad cheaper somewhere but even if you can't I'd say it's still worth it, without hesitation five stars!

I got this to replace my xbox 260 controller because the wire had frayed almost completely off. I wanted a wireless one, considered waiting for the steam controller, and wireless support for the xbox one controller, but needed an immediate replacemant, fancied a change from the xbox style and really liked the ps controllers of old so went for this. I am very pleased i did.I am running WIN 8.1 and using InputMapper as a software bridge to get the controller working flawlessly with all the games i have tried. InputMapper is free to download and makes the DS4 work just like a 360 controller. The buttons all work to the same configuration of the 360's so no confusing button presses, and InputMapper lets you fully configure anyway. There are several different software programs that you can download to get the controller working but I use this one.I didn't have to set anything up, just plug and play out of the box! This controller feels very solid and responsive, looks great, the battery time is fine for numerous extended sessions. All you need to either charge or connect via a wire to your pc if you choose to is the same wire that you use to charge your mobile phone. The controller can be charged with a mobile charger, or while plugged into the pc with just the usb cable that the mobile charger uses. (I have a BlackBerry usb cable).Overall, I would highly recommend this DS4 controller for PC use.I also installed the release of WIN 10 and he controller worked perfectly with that also.(Games I tried the controller on: through Steam: Remember Me; Enslaved: Odessey To The West; Transistor; Blade Kitten; Sega: Streets of Rage 2; Batman Arkham City GOTY; Shantae Risky's Revenge). They all worked gret! Also, the trackpad works very well and the click seems to operate as a right click, but this can possibly be edited to be left also.

As far as Sony controllers go, the DS4 is much more advanced and more comfortable to use than any of its predecessors. Whilst it still retains the same basic layout and shape, the changes made predominantly to the grip area and triggers have increased its comfort - at least for me.I don't know if its as well built as the DS3 for example as I think they have used a few cheaper materials/parts to cut costs down to be able to include the touch-pad, lightbar and speaker and not have to charge a LOT more. Battery life is also very poor too (even if you turn off the lightbar and speaker) and my particular controller (Gold)doesn't come with a charging cable - although I still have mine supplied with my console.Unfortunately its an essential peripheral and I wouldn't have bought this had my original controller not broken - the left thumb-stick stopped working properly - it became stuck down meaning I couldn't 'click' it - vital for games that use this to 'run'. I had heard about the rubber wearing on the top of the thumbsticks (I used covers) but the Gold controller looks to have a different type of thumbstick without the rubber - so I am hoping that the problems with my original controller are also addressed. As I said, its an essential peripheral for the PS4 and so you are obviously going to need at least 1. It is a lot more comfortable to use for extended gaming sessions thanks to a few design changes over the DS3 but still retains the same layout. Its pointless to recommend it or not because of you have a PS4 you are going to have to have it anyway!

The main reason to buy this controller being the appearance, I have to admit that it's a gorgeous item. The colour - including the original PS logo and the slightly more translucent pastels on the face buttons - is perfect; it brings a smile to my face to glance down at my hands as I play and think of the two decades of unalloyed joy Sony's given me.The finish on the controller is a little different to that on my black bundled DS4 (~ 18 months of frequent use) with a slightly smoother matt on the front-plate. The face buttons are also lightly matt as opposed to the glossy standard DS4, and both feel a little nicer in the hand/under the thumb. The only area in which it doesn't at least equal a standard controller is the triggers, which are incredibly sensitive, registering a press with about half the usual depression. This isn't a huge issue but for twitchy online shooters and other games where timing your trigger presses is essential, the slightest bump can blow your cover or waste some precious resource. In these cases it would be wise to keep a basic controller handy. The battery is certainly an improvement over to my bundled DS4; the comparison is unfair owing to the age, but I'm on two bars after ~5 hours from a full charge, which is quite impressive for such a power-hungry device.I'm almost tempted to knock a star off for the triggers but this is a lovely bit of kit that looks and feels the business. Just don't go chucking your bundled DS4 when it arrives.

I have been using the DS4 for a few months now, and, having come from 360 pads and a DS3, it's fair to say that the DS4 is a great pad.The Start/Select buttons took a bit of adjusting to, but the rest of the pad is clearly not only an evolution of the DS3, but head and shoulders above it. In comparison, the old DS3 feels like a small, cheap travel controller. (In fact, as the DS3 is also Bluetooth, it should perform well as a travel controller.)Comparing to 360 pads levels the playing field somewhat. Apart from the dpad, the DS4 doesn't quite outperform a 360 pad in any particular area, while its captive battery means that someone with their low-discharge AA ducks in a row will get more mileage from the 360 pad.The triggers also still seem to be better on the 360 pad (although the DS4's triggers are far superior to the DS3's).So, to sum up... hmmm... I haven't really said anything that you can't find in any of a thousand other DS4 reviews online. So I'll just add: how cheap of Sony not to bother bundling a charging cable with the pad. Considering the unit price (and how quickly I seem to go through Micro-USB cables. They're just so darn tasty) this was an unwelcome surprise!

If you are looking for a good quality controller than look know further as the Dualshock 4 is brilliant far better than its predecessor as instead of the mushroom analog sticks the DS4 sticks are concave to allow better grip.Another great feature of the DS4 is the anolog stick, which were problem for the DS3 but on the DS4 they are perfectly formed allowing for better and more accurate shooting. The touch pad is good for games such as Assassins creed as I find it the best way to navigate the map, though at the moment most games don't utilize it.Of course the start and select button have been replaced by share and options.I have found myself recording footage only to be found I wasn't this isdue to Sony allow developers block users from recorded certain parts of game to avoid spoilers on the internet. That is why I recommend anyone thinking of trying to record videos more efficiently to wait for a compatible recorder to come on the market (*and for Sony to allow them to be used). If you need any additional information comment on this review and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

This is by far the best controller sony have ever made. I have been a keen gamer since the ps2, and tested controllers on a number of platforms. The ps4 controller provides the most immersive experience on the market, especially for 1st person shooters. The pros:Ergonomic design - the shape fits your hand perfectlyConcave triggers - prevents finger slippingLed light bar - looks badassTouchpad - Cool extra feature although not been utilised by many games as of yetAppearance - Personally i think it looks the best by farCons:Sweating - Not a big problem but sometimes I found after continuous play my hands got a little sweaty on the back of the controllerI have also discovered that there are many complaints online about the analog sticks.Apparently they are prone to peeling (the rubber). I have two controllers and play often, I have had no such problems and Ive had the ps4 since release date. All in all 5 star!

Where do I start...This product practically saved my life, since 2014 me and my friend have been in my room wrestling over one controller we own as we could not afford another one. When I found this one for such a good price I almost fainted, My first thought was .. Thats going straight in my basket! and so I bought it. To my pleasant surprise the controller came in just 2 days. It had nice packaging and even came with a nice big, thick, long charger cable.I connected it up and began playing away. Hours later that evening my friend arrived back home from work, he came up the stairs and stopped at the door, he saw 2 controllers sitting on the bed and he was speechless, and so that night we played together on our very small sofa, all night long. Were were both very impressed with how the controller performed, it was a lovely blue and felt so so nice on the skin. Sony really pulled it out the bag with this one.

It's like a normal PS4 controller... but it's blue (or whatever colour you choose)! Without trying to sound too obvious, it is identical to the standard black controller that comes with the PS4. I decided to buy a 2nd controller for multiplayer mayhem, and it works just as well as the standard controller (if it didn't, I would be worried!).The blue is a nice colour, I was slightly worried that it would look silly and out of place next to the PS4, although it fits with it surprisingly well and looks good too. The colour also stops me from noticing the dirt gathering up on it....Anywho, a nice controller, works the same as the standard controller: Many people are saying that the thumb sticks are of poor design and are breaking, although mine seem to be holding up quite well for the past few months since my purchase (although this of cause could change in the future), no issues here so far! Nice one Sony!

I purchased this after my original black dualshock 4 controller developed a minor fault with the left analog stick after roughly a year or so of use. It basically moves whatever game i am playing to left, very slowly. So i decided to purchase a new PS4 controller. I looked at all the colours available and i decided between blue, black and white. Eventually i choose white because it kept luring me in and it does look great. When i received the controller, it looked even better than any picture could do justice and i am very happy with my purchase. The top half of the controller is pure white with a matt finish but still has a shine to it, while the bottom half is a very light grey.I think i prefer this to all the other colours available right now, including the original black dualshock 4. I have a black PS4 and a white dualshock 4 controller now which says a lot about how much i love this colour.

Wave Blue is probably not the accurate name for this colour, as it's rather dark, although very vivid. This is our second controller, the first one being the unit that originally came with the PlayStation. It's a nice contrast to the full black controller, and this blue colour makes it stand out among the two, with my son always taking the blue one to play. When you connect it for the first time and press the PS button in the middle, you will see a prompt on the screen, asking you to assign a player to this controller (you can change it later). The idea is to allow a quick switch whenever two or more players are connected. Pressing the PS button takes that player to their account's main menu, which is very convenient.Other than that, everything works well and the buttons and handles are very comfortable. Highly recommended as a second controller for multiplayer games.

Best controller out there for PC. I was using a wired Xbox 360 controller with my PC for about 3 months, when i discovered you could use the PS4 via Bluetooth. This is a huge benefit for me as i like to play games on my bed. When i received the controller it didn't come with a USB cable. This wasn't an issue because i was using the controllers Bluetooth capabilities. To get the controller working, I had to use Third party software called DS4 windows. This was very easy to set up and i was playing games within minutes. The look and feel of DS4 controller is a huge improvement over the DS3. It felt sturdier and has a bit more weight to it.In my opinion this gave it a higher quality feel over the DS3.Overall the DS4 has an improved look and feel over the DS3 and i would recommend this product to anyone who wants to use a controller with their PC.

These are brilliant controllers, the ps4 dualshock 4 is bigger than the ps3 version, designed with the massive adult market in mind. I had problems playing COD and my hands getting hot and not having good purchase on the ps3 version. That seems to be eliminated now, as, the hotter your hands get, the grippier the control feels(i have a latex cover for my primary which is the same). It also helps that the L2/R2 triggers are curved now. I havent had any wear issues with the toggles but i play mainly fps and rpg. The toggles on this particular edition feel grippier than my original/primary controller too. This looks awesome in urban camo, i'm really glad i bought it,and it makes me wonder if there will be supply/quantity issues as i should imagine it's ltd ed. . Bought it for a good price off Amazon too.
