Bought the Black Sear & Stew Slow Cooker to replace an ancient slow cooker that had become so slow it didn't get warm. This is a innovative kitchen aid as as its name indicates you can sear ingredients before cooking. So many dishes require onions/garlic/peppers to be softened or browned before adding other ingredients which is great as soups, casseroles, curries, stews etc become one pot creations. (Saves on the washing-up!) I do not cook meat so I cannot comment on well it is does this but all of the dishes that I have cooked in the short time that I have had the Sear & Stew have been made that much easier by being able to fry-off onions, garlic etc and I have boosted the start of the cooking process by bringing the total contents of the dish to a simmer before putting it into the clow cooker to complete the cooking time. The bowl is light weight and non-stick both of which are winning features, so many slow cooker bowls are made of a very heavy ceramic(?) which when full of ingredients make them difficult to lift. Very good value for money too. Extremely pleased with my purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is the second Morphy Richards slow cooker we've had. The first gave sterling service and lasted 10 years. Slow cooking is all about getting the cooked item as melt in your mouth as possible groups the action of cooking your food at a lower temperature, for longer. We've made all sorts of curries and stews over the years, and they all have had one thing in common, melt in your mouth meat to die for!!The new cooker comes with all the benefits of old, plus the added benefit of being able to sear the meat in the same pot (on the hob) before you add the rest of the ingredients and start the slow cooking experience. This means that all the juices and goodness in your raw ingredients aren't lost from the pan to pot transfer of old.We look forward to another 10 years of tender goodness with our Morphy Richards sear and stew slow cooker.. This slow cooker is proving to be a real godsend to us, as a couple who are regularly out during the afternoons, this cooker allows us to get a warm welcome home in the evening, with the aroma of a cooked meal already and waiting for us. In preparation, the lightweight aluminium pot means the meat can be browned off on the hob without using another item, saving on washing up. There are no complicated timers on this cooker, so the setting is straighforward, high, medium or low. The setting knob is very robust and it seems to click positively onto the settings. I suppose if you are a couple at work every day then you might consider getting one of those external timers to plug in.The cooker is very reasonably priced and has a smart appearance, with the pot and lid also dishwasher safe as an added bonus. I have had an old ceramic slow cooker for years but now struggle with the very heavy pot. This new slow cooker is the opposite - very light and easy to handle with simple controls.Searing the meat on my gas hob is quick, easy and effective as long as you use oven gloves to pop the light pot back in the cooker. The hinged lid is pure genius. Instead of trying to find somewhere to put the hot lid whilst you check the food this hinged lid opens up leaving both hands free. It is dead easy to remove and clean. So is the cooking pot which comes clean much quicker than a ceramic pot. I have only cooked savoury dishes so far. The meat was cooked thoroughly and was really succulent and tasty.I will be using this slow cooker regularly, unlike my old one. Well done Morphy Richards for producing an innovative twist on an old classic.

I smashed the lid on my previous slow cooker which wasn’t replaceable. I use my cooker frequently so I needed something reliable. I never buy anything without research and reading reviews first. I also don’t think expensive means best. This is a fantastic appliance which you can place the inner bowl on your stove to seal and fry off base ingredients before adding the rest then assemble everything, switch on and off you go for the day to come home to mouthwatering smells! You can increase the temperature if you are having unexpected friends round and making simple meals for dinner parties (my lot love a curry!). Added bonus is how lightweight the inner bowl is, dishwasher friendly and has a non stick coating. And very affordable- what’s not to love? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

As a male in the military time and cooking skills are both a bit short for me. However this product is perfect for me, easy to use easy to clean and can be left all day ready for me to come home to a ready cooked warm meal, I have referred to many fellow troops in my squadron. I chose the product due to low price and sleek design easy to store in limited space. I have made many random concoctions of meat, veg and seasoning some better than others but always readily hot for my return I literally put anything into my meals. Would highly recommend this product especially to those who don’t have much time to cook a decent meal after work. This will help you provide a healthy meal that doesn’t just get thrown into a microwave.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have only just bought this and used it once but am pleased with it. The packaging was economical which was a good start. It's a surprisingly light product, even the cooking pot which stood up to searing the meat without sticking prior to stewing just fine. I used a recipe from the booklet and it fitted in the pot with lots of room to spare. When researching slow cookers I had thought of buying a larger capacity one but I'm pleased I didn't as the size is perfectly adequate for cooking for 6 and storing. It was very simple to use, after all there's just one knob to turn, and you control how long you cook for - there isn't a timer. Afterwards it washed up easily. I'm happy.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Recently purchased but already much used! So easy and lovely to reduce cooking time as well as the post dinner washing up. Have used a few of the recipes that come with the product; meals are full of flavour and meat always very tender. My only negative is that as this slow cooker has 3 settings (low, med & high) whereas most only have 2 (low & high), when using recipes from outside of the supplied book that there's a bit of guesswork on timings sometimes. Would definitely recommend this one though, the fact that you can use the inner pot to sear meat on the stove top priority to slow cooking instead of using a different pan far outweighs any confusion over timings![This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We finally (!) got round to buying a slow cooker. Considering the long-overdue frustration with meats cooked previously which were nearly always a pain to chew unless they were not meant to be stewed, this cooker just made the job instantly of providing meat exceptionally tender (and tasty)! The features are straightforward and easy to use: the 3 heat settings, dishwasher safe, and possibility to pre-cook using a hob are all very convenient and welcome in our busy and hectic household. The only drawback for us, having a home-office, is to be under the same roof all day long with these irresistible aromas obviously testing our will power to the extreme.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I’ve had this slow cooker for around 3 weeks now and absolutely love to use it! The inner pot is so lightweight and great that you can use it on the gas hob cooker to seal your meat, add your veg and sauce and then pop it back into the base unit and then leave it to slow cook whilst at work! I love it when you get in and the smell of food and a ready cooked meal waiting for you! The lid is hinged but easily comes off to wash. It’s very useful to open the lid and stir your food without dripping water everywhere. We have used it for many meals now, even to keep burgers and sausages warm when having a family BBQ, this also showed others how great it is! Next to try a bolognese, can’t wait!!!

This is my second sear and stew. They are soo useful, even as a vegan. I love that it is not heavy to lift and that it has a non stick interior.I make porridge in it as it makes it smooth and creamy. Cooking mushy peas also is great, as they are not boiling over and I do not have to stand over them. I often put a vegetable curry in with loads of veg and lentils. I have even used frozen veg in it for curries, casseroles and soups. If I need it quicker I put boiling water over the frozen veg. I do baked potatoes in it also just as they are and can crisp them up under the grill if needed. The more I use them the more I love them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Never thought about one of these until I overheard friends talking about one. I then discovered a close relative also used one and raved about it. Never too old at 70 to try something different so bought this one, after a little research.Used a couple of times now and very pleased with it. Easy to set-up and use. Some might find the power lead a little short. I have no idea if it saves on power bills if it's on 'High' for 8 hours but everything has come out cooked and full of flavour. If you have space in a cupboard to store when not in use why not give one a go? This was a good price so not too much lost if it spends too long in the cupboard.

I found the the hinged lid a huge bonus as it allowed me to quickly check on what’s cooking without losing too much heat. The unit is incredibly light even when full and the side handles make it super easy to move when necessary. Having a lightweight cook pot that can be used on the hob is a real bonus as it makes it a one-pot cooking experience. It also allows easy manoeuvrability of the pot to the table should you wish to serve straight from the pot. This is a lovely slow cooker compared to my old one which was very heavy and inconvenient to use. I am very impressed and will make good use of it on a regular basis.

Been cooking high protein meals using this and have to say FANTASTIC! Really easy to prep then just leave on desired heating depending on recipe. The meat dishes I've cooked have all come out really succulent and full of flavor. This saves standing by cooker whilst making meat dishes for our family curry...the longer it cooks for the better flavored the end result is and this cooker saves that hanging around. Temperatures are well regulated and all food items get cooked throughout. Highly recommended just from a convenience point of view, great addition to our kitchen. I bought this to replace a very old one which I had unfortunately managed to smash the knob/control off. I was lost without it and was determined to buy Morphy Richards again as they were such a good brand. I was overwhelmed at the range of sizes and styles they come in now but decided to stick to 3.5l and that is perfect for 4 of us. I love how light weight it is compared to the old one and how non stick it is so that makes it so much easier to clean. Busy families definitely need this product! Also love the bigger knob on the front , (the older model was very fragile). [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
