A run of the mills toaster - it does everything you'd expect and doesn't attempt to reinvent any wheels. Looks good and isn't plasticky. You will probably choose this toaster based on appearance and how well it suits your kitchen, and given the is ticks every box from a functionality point of view, that makes perfect sense. But let's go back for a second...Before toasters you need a fire (tinder, kindling, fuel and some sort of fire place) and a toasting fork (posh) or a green stick (not posh). Making toast was a major exercise and by the time were ready to start toasting you had already eaten the bread. Then, once electricity was all sorted, someone invented the toaster. The a whole range of other people invented the slider to lower and raise the bread, the timer, the thick/thin opening, the toast from frozen button, the reheat button and the slide out crumb tray. That there is nothing left to be invented in the world of toasters is testament to how simultaneously awesome and ordinary they are, along with their sibling kettles. This toaster has all of that - it is thoroughly ordinary and thoroughly amazing. And looks good too.Hail the toaster

As toasters go, this Morphy Richards Evoke 2-slice toasters is one of the more traditional kinds - designed to make toast not to cook eggs, warm beans, heat other forms of baked goods, sing, dance or interact with any kind of smart system. There are three function buttons: defrost, reheat and cancel, and a browning control dial. The crumb tray is wide and slides easily, and there's a sensible cable management system on the underside of the toaster, should you prefer to store this away rather than leaving it out on your worktop. The toaster has a classic design in black plastic and shiny chrome, and is part of a range that includes a coffee maker, microwave, slow cooker, and kettle - should you want to have these things all co-ordinating.The slots on this are deep enough to accommodate a slice of Warburton's Toastie loaf (or similar). Unlike our previous, Breville, toaster where the heating element does not go quite to the top of the slot, so leaves a section uncooked, this seems to cook the bread uniformly.

This is an attractive looking toaster, mainly due to the shiny front. Although, of course, being a stainless steel, this is a fingerprint magnet. The logo is on the front and doesn't look like it will half-scour off then look a mess. Comes with a two-year guarantee. It has a deep well all around the top which collect crumbs but this does lead down to the crumb tray, so that's helpful. All the dials are on the right-hand side. The usual ones: cancel reheat and frozen. The toast is lowered by a handle on the side and then you get a manual knob to regulate browning going from one to 7. There is a crumb tray beneath. It is annoying when you can't get the top of your bread into the toaster. It claims to have 'extra deep variable wide slots – The slot will take a bakery product of up to 135mm wide, 130mm long (sitting parallel to the toasting element) and 28 mm thick.I've tried fancy digital toasters, and there's no point, really. This is a nice-looking, no-nonsense, serviceable toaster – no complaints.

I got this to replace my existing toaster, which was slowly dying of old age. While it's hard to get excited about a toaster, I'm well pleased with this one: Good wide slots (toasted crumpet, anyone?) a setting for just-out-of-the-freezer stuff, and a good wide range of browning control. And it looks good too. Full disclosure: I got this one free for review purposes, but I would still have been happy if I'd paid the full going rate. Definitely recommended.

This is a classic toaster with no gimmicks. Wide slots, easy pull down arm, button for frozen and button for reheating and a button for ejecting, and a dial to control heat. There's a pull out tray so you can throw out the crumbs. It looks good in an understated way, and it works great. It's also very sensibly priced. If you're after a two slice toaster, and the look of this would go with your kitchen, then I can recommend this.

What do you look for in a toaster? First, not to be too bulky (this item is reasonably sized compared to the competition, but they tend to be much larger these days). Second, an even toast (good results here). Third, control of cooking time and cancel button when things get out of hand (yes). All in all a good product, but a bit pricey compared with alternatives. If it drops below £30 go for it, no questions asked.

A very nice upgrade on my existing toaster, the toast slots are nice and wide so I'm not forced to excise my toasted buns with the end of a knife anymore. Comes with handy pull out tray for crumbs (although I always found the violence of shaking the bread debris onto the work surface strangely satisfying). It looks nice too. Aesthetics are important. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I find this item very good, but there is fust one flaw in it and that is when yoi push down the handle to toast if you push to hard it just up turns and i find as i am an elderly gentleman it is or good be dangerous, but now i have got use to it i find it ok but i would of thoight if it had suction feet on it then it would be the best on the market.

A great 2 slice toaster....removable crumb tray, variable with slots (great for bagels), easy dial for different shades of toast, plus a quick cancel button, reheat button and defrost button too.Silver and black - very sleek and stylish.Reliable and with a 2 year guarantee - can't go wrong.Recommended.

I like this...It looks good... metal on the outside with a metal lever and buttons...It has a button for frozen bread and also one to expel the toast...You can choose different browning levels... which is good... and it has a crumb tray...It’s also good st toasting... my bread has all come out well!

Nice looking toaster, reasonable value for money, toasts OK but not as evenly as I would like, but I think that applies to most toasters. First one I received failed after a couple of months, replacement is working fine at the moment, hopefully it is more resilient than the first one.

This is a good toaster. It has a nice design, including the pull out crumb tray. It has the facility for frozen bread, but to be honest I don't freeze bread so can't comment on that part of the design. You can vary the browning. All in all, it's a good product.

Nice, everyday toaster. Not the heaviest duty or most robust but works well for the average household. Nice controls with a brushes stainless steel surface. Neutral appearance will look appropriate with most decors

Delighted that it has a metal exterior rather than plastic, it is a very stylish design with side vents to dissipate the heat created when the toaster is in use.

I love this toaster. It’s easy to set it to your own level of toastiness. Also has a reheat button if needed. Cooks evenly and fairly quickly.
