Good features:-- The cooking pot is hob-proof: this is very convenient for browning large quantities of meat before transferring to the slow cooker.-- The cooking pot is non-stick and thus very easy to clean.-- The cooking pot has a volume of 6.5l, so it's great for cooking up large batches of food for the week.Potential improvements:-- The legs on which the cooker stands could be a bit longer and wider. As it is I have to stand mine on a metal grill as I am concerned of the kitchen counter becoming too hot otherwise.-- Inclusion of a timer as standard for peace of mind. Selecting a model with a digital timer seems to include a price hike of at least £10 which does seem a bit steep.-- The power cable could be directed a little further away from the metal casing, this would ease any concerns of the cable insulation being subjected to heat damage through contact with the metal casing of the cooker.-- As I use the slow cooker for prepping my food for the week ahead and must consume a large number of calories each day to support my workout regimen it would have been nice to have the option to go even larger than 6.5l in volume. I received this slow cooker as a Christmas present, and have so far been kept very pleased! 6.5l proves to be quite a formidable volume for stew- as I cook almost solely for myself, I end up with enough stew for days! The cooking pot itself is a little heavy, but very easy to clean, even after the accidental burn, and has survived a good few knocks and bumps so far! One feature of this cooker that I think provides both a good positive and negative aspect would be the temperature dial: one is provided with the choices of "Off","Hi","Low","Med", and no timer. So although it's easy enough to set to low temperature to cook slowly, if you (like I am) are prone to being distracted,it can be quite easy to overcook or burn your food! The temperature settings themselves seem to be quite unique to this style of cooker, however, with the "Med" setting not appearing on a good few others, so at least there is a good amount of control over the heat involved! If one is an organised cook, then this is well recommended, and even if one is not, it's still a good buy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We bought this recently to replace a 20 year old slow cooker. It's sleek yet practical design means it has pride of place in our kitchen. However, it's not just a pretty face. The massive capacity means we can comfortably cook large meals. Returning home from a tough day, nothing tastes better than a delicious meal with minimal effort. The product has superb, robust build quality, yet it's simplicity means that it is used regularly as it is such a functional, indeed essential, part of our kitchen. All good appliances need to be practical and Morphy Richards have considered this careful in the design. The pot can be lifted directly from the heating component and used at the table.Being dishwasher friendly, it means everyone's happy. A tasty meal without having to wash up afterwards! Without hesitation, I would recommend this practical and stylish slow cooker. How can you possibly manage without one. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is the second slow cooker i have bought in The Morphy Richards range, the last sat long term unused until recently, i work full time and have little time to prepare food when home from work, and with a hungry family it was always a mad rush to get decent food cooked and then cleaned up and able to spend quality time with my family. I started using the slow cooker again on advice from a friend and its been a life saver, prepare the night before, turn on when i go to work and when I'm home its a case of doing the veg if needed then straight to the table in the cooker, minimal washing up to do, great food, Happy family and much more time to spend with them rather than be a slave to the oven. Also it has saved me huge amounts when I can buy a cheaper cuts of meat, and get the same taste and texture as an expensive cut as the slow cooker does all the hard work. Awesome product ,Thank you. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

There are two great features about this Slow Cooker I love.1. This unit is small, even with a large 6.5 litre capacity; it easily fits into our cupboard when we're not using it because the pot is light, (800g) and aluminium - Teflon coated. Most of the other large capacity slow cookers have a huge ceramic pot that is both heavy and breakable; it also means that the unit is also huge to house this pot.2. This light aluminium pot can be placed on the hob and the meat and vegetables can be seared prior to adding the remaining ingredients, and then placed into the unit to cook. This eliminates the need to use another pan, saving time and washing up.Yes, it's a little more expensive than some of the others you may see,but this is an excellent product with a trusted brand that, in my experience consistently produces good, reliable products. Remember, you usually only get what you pay for. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great size, nice and light to handle yet big enough to cook for 6 people easily! Cleans like a dream too, effortless. The ability to brown/sear your meat and vegetables in the same pot before slow cooking is inspired. You know you're going to keep all those flavours from searing in the pot.The settings are easy to use although it would have been an added bonus to be able to set a time to start cooking, for the price you can't really grumble about that. The Aluminium pot is a better option for me than a ceramic one as I know a few people, along with myself, that have cracked the ceramic pot by rinsing before cooled enough.All-in-all a fantastic product and I have recommended it to everyone that I know is looking to buy a slow cooker.I would definitely buy another. This is my 2nd slow cooker - I have a 3.5L Sear & Stew & need this bigger version for when feeding on a larger scale. I had a previous 6.5L with a ceramic pot, but the aluminium pot is SO much better; for browning on the hob, while cooking it performs better & without out any food sticking or crusting on the sides; and cleaning is a breeze!! I am a working Mum with 2 kids & could not live without my slow cooker. I had to replace My smaller aluminium pot as the non stick coating was coming off (disappointing) but I'll see ow this one performs. You need one of these in your life - to come through the door from work to the smell & just dish up a meal is the BEST!! you know it makes sense.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This was a gift at Christmas from a daughter, as my first MORPHY1 Richards slow cooker was shaken off my counter by the reverberations of my washing machine. That one had a ceramic dish so that and the lid got smashed. Not sure yet about the lightweight dish as I loved the other one but will be doing a meal in it on Saturday. The three speeds are perfect as I had to borrow one for my December party and it had only low and high, not clearly marked and with no 'on' light, so love this cooker for that feature too. I'm sure it will make perfect meals as before. Would like replacement parts if possible, should anything like that happen again!! Best ever product for me.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've been on a diet for a few months and wanted to get a slow cooker to make tasty healthy meals. The consensus from friends was that this Morphy Richards Sear & Stew would be all I wanted and more. I was worried that it might become a kitchen ornament, but nothing could be further from the truth. I've cooked so much variety in it, from rich Beef Stews and Soups to Pulled Pork for my son and a gang of teenage friends who all want to come again. So What is good? It is versatile, easy to clean, easy to use, The removable pan allows you to seal and brown any meat etc on the hob before the slow cook begins and the results have been fantastic everytime.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Having used Morphy Richards slow cookers for years, I had to replace mine recently. I chose the 6.5l sear and stew slow cooker as an almost like for like replacement. The main difference is the pot which is now lightweight and non-stick compared to a heavy ceramic pot. I have now had the opportunity to use the cooker and was delighted with the result. I love that I can braise meat in the pot on the gas hob and transfer the pot to the slow cooker instead of having to use a frying pan. I cooked on the low setting but did find it cooked rather faster than my previous pot. Instead of the recipe requiring 8-10 hours on low, it was cooked in 6hrs.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Seriously, I don`t know why this hasn`t been thought of before! One light weight non stick cooking pot, no need for extra pans to sear the meat, no extra washing up! I`m a big fan of slowcookers but the added hassle of searing / sealing the meat, especially with the likes of Steak in Ale or Sausage Casserole was starting to dishearten me... Then I came across this item subsequently I have rediscovered my love of the slowcooker! 6.5 litre capacity is huge enough that you can actually add whole potatoes to your stew / casserole...overall an extremely good purchase, I`m going to buy the 3.5 litre model aswell, for those smaller meal moments! I bought this a couple of weeks ago and don’t know what I did before I had it! It saves me time, stops me worrying about cooking supper when things are getting frantic at home in the evening. I love the fact that you can start cooking on the hob - sweating onions and searing meat. The pot is big enough for my large family and yet really lightweight so it’s easy to handle it when full or empty. The only downside is the length of the cord which could be a little longer. There are three cooking settings which are helpful. All the dishes I have cooked in it have surprised me with their flavour. I would definitely recommend this product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My wife bought this cookers last weekend and decided to try it out whilst I was in work to see if I could tell the difference. On returning home to find a cooked casserole which is a rarity I could immediately tell the difference in the tenderness of the meat and baby potatoes in which she had added. My wife was pleasantly surprised as was I as she is not a cook but commented on how easy it had been preparing the meal and just letting it cook whilst she carried on with the house work.Beautiful cooking, no hassle and vey easy to clean.I would highly recommend and will certainly be getting very good use of this product. Superb! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Bought as a replacement for a failing ancient slow cooker, having tried it once, I'm very pleased so far. My first impression was that it is very big, but that's okay, as I like to cook extra for the freezer. Also, I was somewhat surprised to find it's oval - somehow I missed that. Not a problem and may prove useful in the future. Fried some meat in the bowl as part of the recipe. It does make life easier, but need to remember that the whole bowl gets hot and needs handling with oven gloves etc. As mentioned in other reviews, it does seem to be enthusiastic on low, but it worked well and I'm looking forward my next try. I bought this to help cook good quality meals for the family. Time is a huge issue at our house as both my wife and I work and with 3 kids we are always at clubs and sport events so the 6.5l sear and stew slow cooker is awesome. The sear function is great a little oil straight in the pot on the hob sear for required time them add ingredients and go less pans and mess. The 6.5l pot is huge and can cook more than enough for a family of 5 with good appetites. The cooker itself is well built and finished very nice. No down side this is a no brain purchase great appliance great price get one and enjoy great meals hassle free! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
