Maybelline Superstay 24 hour Lipstick 5ml in "QUARTZ STAR ROSE STAR" Shade 110I have had the pleasure of trying lipsticks in the 24 hour Crystal Shock range, but this is my first in this range, so these are my thoughts of the experience:1st Impressions:• Presented in a smart celluloid box which has on it, the product ingredients (in minute printing) and the instructions for use? (Remember to read this before discarding this packaging!)• Neither the celluloid box nor the lipstick inside was tamper-proof sealed in any way.• 1 end of the lipstick is the colour application part, and the other is the secondary overlay. The presentation looks clean and smart.• The colour applicator unscrews and the secondary overlay end is just pull off, twist up and then twists back down and clicks back on after use.• Printed on the barrel of the lipstick holder, is an arrow with a '1' and another arrow with a '2', so you have the reminder of which to apply first to your lips.• The lip colour has a very, very, slightly fruity fragrance. The stick finisher had no fragrance or taste. In use:• Colour - The angled & tapered sponge headed applicator makes it very easy to apply, and to get a good definition to the lips.• The colour must be allowed to dry. It has a slight stickiness, so just keep your lips apart until it has dried – it does not take long.• Once dry, then slick over the colourless topcoat and you are done. I did not blot either the colour product or the topcoat. This finishing product looks like a stick of wax and gives a very nice moisturising feel• The coverage was good and the "QUARTZ STAR ROSE QUARTZ" Shade is a very natural one, with some added sparkle. It is a natural pink with a slight bronze added. This shade is very similar to the Super Stay 24 hour Crystal Shock in "Amber Allure" No 170 – it just has a little more colour, a little more intensity.• I am very pale, but I think this lipstick will suit many different complexions and age groups. For me, it is an all round the year shade, depending on the colour of the clothes being worn. I really love the fact that it is such a natural colour, and can even be worn successfully without any other make-up.• It is a great colour for any young girl starting out with make-up or any little girl being allowed some lipstick when going out to a party.• This lip product did not get on my teeth (natural or otherwise!!) as some lipsticks do. Neither was there any transfer on to cups etc.• My lips felt smooth, and comfortable. There was no 'bleeding' of the lipstick.• Because it is a paler, natural colour, there is no great 'stain' factor, but it did last well. What is interesting is that having dabbed some on my wrist without the top coat, it was still visible 24 hours later and after bath! However, wearing just the colour stain without the top coat, does make the lips feel very dry.• At bedtime, what lip colour left was easily removed with the cleansing products that I normally use.To sum up:I can see no difference between this 24 hour Super Stay Lipstick and the Super Stay 24 hour Crystal Shock range. To me they are the same.Similarly, at an RRP of £8.99 I feel this lipstick is not really good value. There is not that much in the coloured end of the lipstick. I feel that this part will run out long before the top coat / finishing stick does. It is for this reason that I can only award 4 stars.

Maybelline Superstay Crystal Shock 24 hour Lipstick 5ml in "AMBER ALLURE" Shade 170This is the first time I have used a Maybelline Lipstick, so . . . . . .1st Impressions:• Presented in a smart celluloid box which has on it, the product ingredients (in minute printing) and the instructions for use? (Remember to read this before discarding this packaging!)• Neither the celluloid box nor the lipstick inside was tamper-proof sealed in any way.• 1 end of the lipstick is the colour application part, and the other is the secondary overlay. The presentation looks clean and smart.• The colour applicator unscrews and the secondary overlay end is just pull off, twist up and then twists back down and clicks back on after use.• Printed on the barrel of the lipstick holder, is an arrow with a '1' and another arrow with a '2', so you have the reminder of which to apply first to your lips.In use:• Colour - The angled & tapered sponge headed applicator made it very easy to apply, and to get a good definition to my mouth.• The colour must be allowed to dry. It has a slight stickiness, so just keep your lips apart until it has dried – it does not take long.• Once dry, then slick over the colourless topcoat and you are done. I did not blot either the colour product or the topcoat. This finishing product looks like a stick of wax and gives a very nice moisturising feel• The coverage was good and the "AMBER ALLURE" Shade was extremely natural, a sort of no make-up look, with a very slight hint of sparkle. I am very pale but I thought it looked good, and nice to just pop on without the need to do a full make-up to go dog walking or whatever. For me, it will really come into its own in the summertime, when too much lipstick can be a bit of an over kill.• This lip product did not get on my teeth (natural or otherwise!!) as some lipsticks do. Neither was there any on the mug after having drunk some tea not long after application.• My lips felt smooth, soft and comfortable and not at all gluey or sticky. There was no 'bleeding' of the lipstick.• As I am not one to keep touching up lip colouring during the day, I was delighted that the colour wore off very gradually, and that there was still some stain colour remaining after a few hours, even though it was very, very feint. To sum up – at an RRP of £8.99 I feel it is poor value. There is very little quantity of the coloured part of the lipstick, and I feel that this will run out long before the top coat product does. It is for this reason that I can only award 4 stars. As a lip product I really liked it. However, it is unfortunately too expensive for what it is – just a small amount of actual lip colour, as to buy a lip balm top coat is very cheap to replace.EDIT - I see that this is now being offered for less than £5 which then does make it a good purchase, however as my Review is based on the RRP my Star Rating stays

This lipstick is something entirely new and different and must be used in accordance with the directions in order to achieve the results that are claimed for it.It is a two-part product: a lip colour (stain?) which is applied with a wand like a lip gloss, so needs to be put on carefully. You must then allow this to dry (about one minute) before applying the lip balm which is the other end of the stick, and is really a top coat gloss to give shine to the colour. The particular shade I used, Rose Dust, is a lovely warm rich but subtle pink. The balm/gloss inevitably wears off as you eat, drink and talk, so you need to reapply it on top of the colour throughout the day to keep your lips looking good. Now, you might ask "why not just reapply lipstick in that case?". The answer is that your lips still have colour so your make-up looks more complete even before you reapply the balm. For me this has an additional benefit. As you age tiny lines appear around the edges of your lips and I find that most lipsticks "bleed" into these lines. This product gives a clear edge which does not bleed, even as the day wears on. For that reason alone I can see myself switching to this lipstick almost entirely as I have tried many lipsticks which claim not to bleed beyond the lips and this is the first one that works even though that is not part of its claim! Wonderful! In terms of durability, I applied the colour and balm at 2.00 pm. I had tea and cake in the afternoon, so reapplied the balm afterwards. After my evening meal the colour was still there but decidedly paler, giving almost a nude look, but still better than no lipstick, and again I applied the balm. By bedtime, before midnight, the colour had almost gone and my normal washing routine (I am a soap and water girl) failed to remove the last of the colour. This had gone by the morning though. I am not sure how true that would be with a strong red - the manufacturers advise using an oil-based make-up remover. For me this ticks all the right boxes.

The Maybelline Super Stay 24 Ultimate Red I absolutely love. I will say straight away though it doesn’t last 24 hours and requires hourly or so touch ups for a flawless look. It works by applying the base colour (in this case red) and allowing it to dry. As it dries, it becomes slightly tacky so try and avoid pursing lips together. It’s also a good idea to move your lips around and apply a thin second layer just to get into any cracks that may form. At this point I found the colour does almost chip off in tiny little pieces. Then all you do is pull off the white end which is basically a lip balm to soften up the lips. The colour payoff is fantastic from the red and even just one coat could be enough as long as you don’t mind checking yourself in the mirror. You can kiss without transfer, rub your lips forcibly with a finger and not get any to come off (well perhaps a few chips). The only ways I really found it came off was actually scratching it. I tried using an Andrex wipe (water based) to get it off and very little would budge so as the directions state, you do need an oil based make up remover to do the job. I just used a couple of drops on a wipe (rather than staining a face cloth) and it came off so easily.Baring in mind there are two ends to this, it means there is technically very little product too. There’s a spongey applicator on the colour side whereas the lip balm is a twist up stick. This stick is a lot thinner than a normal chapstick and needs to be attached to the other end so you’re still having to carry the 5” stick around with you on a night out. That said, I love the colour (very festive) and it does have great staying power but certainly no where near 24 hours (unless they are talking about a ring around your mouth. Very easy to use but you do have to be really careful if applying while out as you may not have something oily with you to correct a mistake. I’d definitely purchase this again and quite possibly other colours from the range.

Maybelline New York is the world’s largest cosmetics brand and is on sale in over 129 countries worldwide. It’s been my favourite makeup brand since 2000.Originally the Maybelline Company was created by a 19-year-old entrepreneur named Tom Lyle Williams in 1915. In 1967 the company was sold by Williams to Plough, Inc, it was sold on in 1990 it was sold to an investment firm called Wasserstein Perella & Co.Then in 1996 it was sold to L'Oréal, which was the first cosmetic firm I started using back in the 1990’s.With having allergies I also stay with the brands I know so I don’t get reactions, (like I’ve had in the past with store own brands). So when I was asked if I’d like to review their Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour Lipstick Rose Quartz,I was delighted to accept. Now with having natural light blonde hair, blue eyes and skin that’s extremely pale I normally wear very pale pink lipstick as if I go darker then that I look very ill. When this lipstick arrived I groaned as the colour of the lipstick was darker then my usual shade. So I was pleasantly surprised when I applied it as it’s very similar to my natural lip colour. I’d say it’s slightly darker then the colour of my lips so that made them stand out a little more but the colour didn’t make me look ill, (due to my extremely pale skin colour). The lipstick is dual headed you have a moisturiser at one end (kind of lip balm) and the lipstick colour at the other end.You put the moisturiser on first and let it dry. Then apply the lipstick which goes on even and smoothly. It lasted on me about 6 hrs before it started to wear off. I did wear it in the evening as I was out for an evening meal, (it stayed on well throughout the meal and didn’t disappear when I’d had something to drink), so I was really pleased with the way it performed. :-)I’m really pleased with this lipstick and I’d certainly recommend it.:-)

This product certainly lasts and lasts. It's pretty much identical in performance to the much more upmarket and expensive Revlon version, at a budget price. I got the Quartz Star Rose Quartz shade, colour 110, which in the bottle, looks like a burnished copper, but which is far, far lighter when on.The colour is a mix of nude pink with a hint of brown glitter and goes on with a sponge applicator, and you have to let it dry for about 2 minutes so that it forms a seal on your lips. Then, you use the other clear gloss side of the lippie to add sheen to the colour - this can also be used as a clear gloss. You could leave off the gloss part, but, it does make your lips rather stiff and dry,but at the same time, it gives a decent matte look (there are arrows to tell you which side to use first). The lipstick lasts through food and drink, and only something with a bit of grease touching your lips would be enough to move the colour, and even then, it'd move the colour where it touches, so you would need a partial touch-up.At the end of the day, I find that I need to use an oil-based remover (eye make-up wipes work) or a bit of cream on a tissue, but I do find my lips reddened and swollen with all the rubbing that's needed.I like that the colour looks very natural against my Asian skin tones - it's on a par with l'Oréal's Aishwarya Rai lippie, designed for Asian skins, but would suit all skins tones, as it's pretty much neutral. It comes in a clear stiff plastic box, with the inner tube being about 4.5 inches long.

Rose Dust is absolutely perfect for my lips - it's like my lips but better. I was really impressed with the Red Alert but I wanted something a little more natural looking. It doesn't look quite as reddish/pink as it does in the photo. It's quite a muted pink, slightly brown. The colour applies very easily - unscrew the colour end to reveal the spongy applicator, apply it and rub lips together but then allow the colour to dry. It will almost set so I recommend moving your lips around to reveal any cracks and apply a second coat. As before, allow this to dry and then pull the white end of the stick off to reveal a stick lip balm (smells lovely like watermelon). If your lips felt dry then you'll instantly feel really moisturised with the balm. Although it mentions that the lipstick lasts up to 24 hours, again I don't find this is the case. It doesn't wipe off and it's definitely kiss proof but within a few hours, where my lips meet in the middle you can see it start to come off so for a night out, you do have to take it with you although the benefit with this colour is it isn't quite as noticeable. When the balm starts to disappear through eating, drinking or just licking my lips, the colour can start to feel a bit tacky so that's probably why it comes off there. Still as someone who hates trying to find a lipstick that doesn't gather in the cracks of my lips or come off soon after application, I love this one and will be getting more.

The colour I received was called Amber Allure and at first look when it arrives it looks like a deep dark dusky pink/beige colour. One end is the lip colour applicator and the other is a balm shaped like a traditional lipstick. The instructions are to first apply a thin layer of the lip colour to clean dry lips, then allow it to dry thoroughly, before applying the balm. I presume if you don't allow the lip colour to dry, it will clump and look messy. The lip colour when applied thinly is so light and almost flesh coloured! It is so subtle, which I wasn't expecting, but is actually really nice and gives a more natural less is more look, which I like anyway, so I was really pleased. It is also incredibly shiny and glittery, and really does have a great shimmery look. The balm is a nice addition and helps to keep your lips moist, so they don't dry out and really enhances the colour shine. It does appear to be long lasting, although I would query if it really does last 24 hours, but I don't leave my make up on to know for sure, so cannot prove otherwise. It states to clean off using an oil based make up remover, but I found that I could clean it off with make up wipes, although some of the glittery bits still seem to hang around for some time, even after a thorough wipe, so I would say that certainly the shimmery ingredient has longevity!A nice addition to my make up bag, that I may be persuaded to purchase in future.

I bought this on impulse, then forgot all about it and only used it recently. I'm really fussy about lip colour so I was very pleasantly surprised. The colour is really pretty (very natural) and it really does stay in place. I'm super paranoid about my lip colour wearing off during drinking or getting on my teeth, but once this stuff dried it stayed put.The only negative is it takes a little bit of practice. The application took me 3 goes to get right - I initially put the balm on too soon so the colour didn't dry properly and it went sticky. I then put far too much colour on and it dried in cakey patches over my lips. Determined, I scrubbed it off with a makeup wipe then tried again, only applying a small amount of product in a couple of fluid sweeps onto my lips. I let it dry for a few minutes, without rubbing my lips together or touching it, and then applied the balm. This method produced a perfect result. I reapplied the balm during my night out so my lips looked moisturised but there was no need to reapply the colour. I'm now excited to try this product in some of the more daring colours now that I know if won't end up patchy or all over my teeth!

The shade is a nice dusky shade that closely matches the natural colouring of my lips so it's more of an enhancement than a "colour job".. It is an interesting concept for a long lasting lipstick: you put the colour on first, which does feel a bit on the dry side though it does glide on easily enough, then open the other end and apply a clear moisturising coat that you then reapply as needed to protect the colour and to keep the lips from being too dry. I love the colour and I really liked how long it lasted (I put on in the morning and come bedtime, it was still there) but I'm not really all that sure that the application method is better than the traditional all-in-one lipsticks, many of which have lasted just as well and not not been overly drying either. It's also not particularly pretty item to carry in one's handbag either, especially if you are somewhere where you need to pull out your compact to freshen up the moisturising layer. Still, it's a good product and attractively priced, so not a bad addition to the make up bag for casual days. As for removal, I found that baby wipes worked as well as my now usual

I've tried loads of different lipsticks and this one is the best because it is the only one that lasts, I've found that it can even last through greasy meals for me. You can mix colours but I wish they made more colours. It doesn't crack or feel uncomfortable after you apply the balm, and I find that I dont need to reapply the balm as it no longer feels sticky once you use it the first time. Make sure to use on completely clean and dry lips and no lipliner or anything or it wont stay on. After all the lipsticks I've tried i feel that nothing compares to these eventhough they are very expensive. My other lip products seem useless and a waste of money as they all come off (even heavy liquid lipsticks)when I eat or drink throughout the day and I have no time to reapply - most other liquid lipsticks feel really uncomfortable as well. The only downside is that you get such a small amount of actual lipstick in the tube so it runs out fast, although the balm side is a decent amount. I dont recommend putting on any other lipgloss or lip balm with this or it will come off quicker.

Firstly, ensure you read the instructions on the outer box before discarding if you have not used this type of product before. Essentially, you apply the lipstick itself, pulling out and using a foam brush at the coloured end. Allow this to dry thoroughly without lips touching (I breathe in and out over the lips to dry them), then apply the conditioning balm which is like a traditional lipstick style at the other end which pulls out.The lipstick itself has a slight glitter finish suitable for evening wear. I'm not sure that I'd want to keep it on for the boasted 24 hrs! I put it on when the package arrived, following the instructions as above.Since applying I have had a long drink and lunch and although not as good as it was when first applied, there is still plenty of colour remaining without reapplying. Much of the glitter 'crystal shock' effect has faded however, so in an evening, I would probably reapply from time to time, definitely after eating. I would say it lasts 4 hours at best, which is pretty good. I did like this shade, suited to day wear in my opinion.

My wife reviewed this lipstick and reported: I was very sceptical initially and my first attempt was not very successful. The colour that I got is almost nude and hardly shows. After a couple of hours, there was no sign of it at all, but my lips felt quite moist. I reapplied the lipstick, taking more care to let the first coat dry properly before applying the top coat. The base layer, which contains the colour, is very sticky when first applied, but it soon dries and the stickiness goes. The top coat makes your lips feel really moist. When I checked again 9 hours, and one meal later, I could still see some of the colour and gloss.I would describe this as a really good tinted moisturiser.Possibly if I’d had a darker colour I would be able to judge its longevity better. I wouldn’t say that it lasts 24 hours, but it definitely lasts well. It doesn’t bleed. It doesn’t leave marks on cups. It hasn’t left my lips dry or cracked – if fact they feel better than before applying. If you are looking for a natural looking, long lasting moisturiser then I would recommend it.

I have never used this lipstick before and my experience thus far is positive. I like the nude shades that have come in recently as you have a dash of colour without the overkill. This lippy comes in a clear plastic box and the ingredients and instructions are way too small to read. I noticed that there are 2 arrows on the lipstick tube and one has a tiny number '1' on it and the other has a '2'. I opened the colour side and found a wand with the gooey mix on it. I applied to my lips and it's very sticky. I waited for it to dry and then opened the other end of the tube which looked like a glue stick in colour (white). I then applied this over the colour. It took away most of the stickiness. That felt much nicer on my lips than the former. It felt creamier and less sticky. So far so good. I wouldn't say that you can't feel it on your lips, as you can. It didn't come off too much on my glass or cup and it still going strong some time later. The price isn't extortionate for such an item. I will try it again another day, but so far it's doing well.

This lipstick stays on longer than any gloss or other lipstick ’ve tried before, which is something. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty good. The colour is a sophisticated one that works on my pale face, and the design of the brush makes it easy to follow the shape of your lips. You have to let the lipstick “dry” before putting on the stick (which looks like a lip balm stick), though I don’t know what the minimum wait is; two minutes was sufficient for me. The lock-in layer must be what makes all the difference in getting the lipstick to stay. If you’re wearing it all day you might need to do a mid-day touch-up, but for an evening you don’t need to think about it at all, even when drinking and eating. My one big issue is with the packaging – confusingly, even though the instructions on the product clearly say to put the lipstick on first, the lock-in layer is numbered “1” and the gloss is labelled “2”. Surely it should be the other way around. So that’s either a big mistake, or a poor choice on the manufacturer’s part.
