Maybelline ColorSensational Popsticks Lip Liner in "INTENSE PINK" Shade No 140I have not used a Lip Liner for very many years, because I found them to be an uncomfortable experience. As this one is described as 'soft' I was eager to compare it to those previously used. So, here is my experience:1st Impressions:• It arrived in a press-seal transparent poly bag• The Lip Liner has a transparent hard plastic cap to protect the point of the pencil.• Printed on the pencil is the colour name and shade number, which I think is handy. It is at the end of the product, by the silver band, so that you have the reminder should you wish to purchase the same colour again. In use:• Colour – "INTENSE PINK" Shade No 140 - It is a warm,mid-rose pink which I find to be a good general, middle of the road colour. It is a pretty shade and can be useful as a base to perk up a lipstick that is maybe a little too pale, or perhaps tone down one that is a bit too bright. I think it would suit a lot of different complexions and age groups.• It is VERY comfortable and easy to use, not sharp in any way unlike my previous experiences. It is lovely.• I used it as just a lip liner with other lipstick, but I also used it for the whole of my lips, filling in with it. The coverage was excellent.• This lip liner did not get on my teeth (natural or otherwise!!) as some lipsticks do. Neither was there any on the mug after having drunk some tea not long after application.• My lips felt smooth, soft and comfortable.• As I am not one to keep touching up lip colouring during the day, I was delighted that the colour wore off very gradually, and that there was still some stain colour remaining after a few hours, even though it was very, very feint. To sum up:-• At an RRP of £4.94 it is great value and a product that I can most genuinely recommend.• The pencil length is 4½ inches, and it should last a while. It only needs re-sharpening with an ordinary manual Lip Pencil sharpener. I would NOT recommend using a desk type sharpener, as it would be too 'vicious', and wear it down too much.• It is a great beauty product and I am well impressed with it.HANDY BEAUTY TIP - if you use the lip liner AFTER you have applied your lipstick, you will be able to correct blurry edges and the lip liner keeps the lipstick from straying.

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Liner - Sweet Pink (No. 132) - RRP £3.99This is a good, solid lip liner pencil that goes on smoothly and provides a defined line around the lips to stop lipstick colour from feathering or bleeding. Alternatively, the pencil can be used to shade in the lips to provide a base for lip colour or lipgloss. The colour is a mid pinky peach colour that's just a fraction paler than my own lips, so provides a good outline for daytime looks (light to medium lip colours, nudes, lip glosses and lip balms). The consistency is just right: not so hard it won't go on and not so soft it smudges. To use as a lip liner,I start with the centre of my upper lip and draw a line up and outwards using short feathered strokes to build up the line, then repeat on the bottom lip. To provide a base for lip colour or lipgloss, first outline the lips then fill in with lip pencil working from the outside in, then apply lipstick or lipgloss as normal. With any lipliner, it's crucial the colour is abolutely right and the value price of this one means if it's not quite right you can just buy another in a different colour.

If I'm feeling sad, or worried, or have a big presentation to give or a difficult meeting ahead, I always reach for a red lipstick - indeed, I've called these sorts of occasions "Red Lipstick Days" - with a dash of red lippie I feel like I can take on the world! So, as you may imagine, I have a few lipsticks, glosses and balms in various shades of red in my dressing table drawer. For a professional look that stays all day, and to avoid those "Robert Smith from The Cure" moments, a lining your lips before applying lipstick - especially dark or bright colours - is always a good idea. It creates definition, and adds a barrier to prevent your lipstick wandering off your face, in theory. So,how did this lip liner do?Firstly, it glided on easily, with a nice fine line. Although the pencil was a slightly different shade to my chosen lipstick, it covered well and didn't look noticeable, although my lips looked more defined - a nice subtle effect. During the day, it lasted well, and so did my lipstick, with no drift or bleeding. An excellent product at the price point.

There seems to be a common thread with buying anything of a specific colour online. Screens and printouts do not often resemble the purchased item. Very few of us have graphic designer type computer setups. It would seem that the images are not quite to the same too. Anyhow, that is the only moan. I guess if you already use the product then you know what to re-order.On to the practical stuff. My good lady wife, like many other good ladies, wants to appear her best when she gets ready for a night out. Maybelline seem to do one thing well, consistency. If you find one of their products that you like, it will be the same the next time round. This lip liner was certainly more lasting the lip stick used along with it.The manufacturer make a point about using the liner to correct and help out with other products that you might use. This went on easily, seemed to match all the way through on application and lasted for the whole evening without needing to be touched up.

Maybelline Color Sensational Popsticks is a great lipliner which stops your lipsticks from bleeding away from the lips. I apply it to my lips and it is a soft pencil which simply very easy to apply. I also like the fact if you apply the pencil completely over the lips and then add a gloss or lipstick it can extend the length of your lipstick/gloss.There is added conditioners within the lipliner, which is another reason I like this lip liner.Maybelline has produced lipliners which match their lipsticks, these can firstly add definition to your lips especially make your cupids bow stand out more. The lip liner will also stop any feathering or bleeding of your lipstick which will simply make your lips be more attractive,I also believe bleeding of your lipstick also can add years to your face which is something I clearly do not want.I am happy to recommend Maybelline Color Sensational Popsticks to anyone who likes to use lip liners.

This is brownish red lip liner and is a very good consistency, so that it goes on beautifully without dragging the lips. I used to avoid lip liners because I hated the way they used to be worn in the 80s and 90s, when they were worn as a very obvious outline to the lips. Since I've been following Sali Hughes's column in The Guardian I've been applying lip liners all over my lips to give a base to lipsticks, which both provides staying power and stops the lipsticks feathering, and I've found that very effective. However, if you use them that way, then you do need either a nude lip liner or a good colour match to your lipstick. This lip liner is a darker red that my usual choice of red lipsticks - for example,Nars Jungle Red, so it's not ideal for that but it's great with my pinker lipsticks and as a base under lip gloss and coloured lip balms. I am impressed with the quality for the price point.

This is a good quality, red lip liner. It is soft, almost burgundy shade, which blends well and helps define your lips well. Some red lip liners can be too bright; but, with this one, you can either apply it very firmly or just use it gently to outline your lips and blend the lipstick in. I have tried it with a variety of red shades and it seems to happily match them all with just a little blotting and blending. If I only had one red lip pencil, I would be happy if it was this one.The pencil itself is good quality – you can sharpen it without it falling apart and it really does draw on well, without crumbling or smudging. A real staple of my make up bag and it also helps your lipstick stay looking fresh longer.Considering the price, I think this is excellent value and a really good product.

Applying a lip liner might sometimes feel like an unnecessary additional step but if taken you will be rewarded with longer lasting and more intense lip colour.I apply the liner to the whole lip as that ensures even colour for the top coat and this particular pencil smudges well thanks to the soft core. I have worn it on its own without a top coat as it provides subtle colour as well as protection against the elements.Application is an acquired technique but you can blot and smudge to your hearts content to get the finish you want.Intense pink looks more raspberry before application but then appears candy pink towards a red shade on the lips. It teams well with most of the red and pink lipsticks I have tried it with, intensifying the pinks and slightly toning down the reds.

The lip liner applies easily and smoothly without being prone to smudging/breaking/clumping. The product is a standard width make up pencil, so there's no difficulty in fitting it to a regular make-up pencil sharpener. The price point is attractive. It's all pretty good.Indeed, the thing I'd object to most about this Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Liner in the 'Intense Pink' colour way is the colour name.To me 'Intense Pink' suggested some kind of vivid, knock your socks off shade that I was a little dubious about, but decided to try because the Amazon Vine reviewer freebies program has recently offered me a unique opportunity to explore shades that are outside my normal palette comfort-zone.In reality, this is quite a deep, dusky shade that I feel very comfortable using.

This lip pencil is great. It's a decent size but not unwieldy and is soft to apply. I've had lip pencils in the past that have been difficult to use because they were as hard as an H4 pencil but this one is tops for me. It's easy to get a sharp outline and although it glides on at one stroke, it doesn't smudge. My current lipstick tends to bleed a bit after a while so when I used the pencil yesterday evening and filled in with my usual lipstick and lip brush, I expected to see the edge of the lips a bit blurry by bedtime. But no, no blur, no bleed. I am so pleased. The colour is bright enough to define the lips but not so bold that it shouts. Easy to remove with usual cleanser, too; I didn't have an outlined mouth this morning.Very pleased indeed with this lip pencil.

I bought this as my local superdrug had sold out and I LOVED the lipstick I got in this shade. The lipliner is great and is easy to apply with a nice rich and creamy texture. My only slightly fault is that it seems to be a little darker than the lipstick (maybe that could just be the way that I used the lippy, no idea) but overall that doesn't bother me and I use it as a base for the lipstick. It just means the look is darker than when just using the lipstick but its perfect for a night time look as its a nude type of colour. I haven't tried this with any other shade of lipstick yet, to see what kind of colour it would create, just have to be careful its not too much of a light colour as the lip liner would be very obvious!Overall, love it, very happy.

I was quite surprised when this arrived, as it is called "Intense Pink" number 140, but really it is quite a dark shade and I would have placed it in a red category rather than pink, as it isn't really pink at all, not even an intense pink at that... and when it goes on it is more on the shade of a burgundy red, but is nice and light on the lips and not a heavy colour at all and it blends well with any darker shade pinks or any reddish tones really well, however, it is a little too dark to go with a lighter pink, unless you want to really define the edge of your lips.It is a standard size lip liner, with a cap that applies really well.Sharpens with a normal sharpener and is best used when it has a good point for definition lines.
