UPDATE: It has pit zips and I didn't even notice! If you do a lot of walking like I do, and tend to "run hot," you know what a godsend pit zips are. If this performs in the rain as well as I think it will, Marmot will have a new lifetime customer.I've been on the hunt for a new waterproof rain jacket for several months. My old jacket - from a major outdoor company, two words, second word rhymes with "mace" - wore out after only a year, a major disappointment considering I'd paid $100 for it brand new. A co-worker swears by the Marmot brand, and let me try his Precip jacket out at work the other day. I was surprised by the weight (very light), and longevity - he's had his jacket for at least two years, and the interior still looks brand new, with none of the peeling that seems to be common in many waterproof single-layer jackets. I received my new Precip jacket yesterday, and it was just as I'd hoped - super lightweight, feels very breathable (not like a plastic outer shell), with a nice deep hood. This last quality is VERY important to me; I was over two miles each way to work every day, and Oregon rain often finds a way to fall sideways. A deep hood can make all the difference in keeping the rain off your face. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that, though the jacket is long enough to cover my bum, it actually fits over it relatively comfortably (I'm a very curvy pear). For reference, my measurements are: 36-31-46, 5'2", 170 lbs. I ordered a large, and though it's a bit big on top, it fits around my hips, which was surprising. I'm looking forward to getting to test this out in the next rain, and will update my review as necessary

Bought this jacket after reading lots of positive reviews on it's breatheability. I'm size 10 - 12 and bought the Large size so I can layer and add jumpers or fleeces underneath when it's colder - perfect size for this. I'd say Medium is probably a truer size 10 - 12. It's just had it's first 5 mile outing in a hilly forest in light to medium rain. It got a little clammy after a 3/4 hour long slog uphill, but nothing too horrid and having the armpit vents and pockets open helped. Kept me totally dry and I especially like the large hood with peak. It is very lightweight and has no lining, but this is what I wanted. Comes with a Marmot lifetime guarantee (apart from wear & tear type faults).Very happy with my purchase, especially at half price! An update - BEST hood ever!! Pulls in, up, down, wherever, to block any horizontal rain out. Had a few outings in torrential rain and I was dry as a bone.

I LOVE this jacket. I am 5'7", 160 lbs, body size is 36-30-40. I initially went to REI to try on rain jackets because I wanted to be sure I was getting the right one for me and my needs. I needed one that would fit well over one or two layers, is completely waterproof, the hood covered (and stayed on) my face without getting my forehead wet, and it was compact for backpacking. I asked the lady to help me, based on those specs and this one was her second choice (second to a $200 jacket). I loved this one because it was mid-range price (@REI=$99), sat on my body well and will conceal and hold in layers nicely. It is SUPER compact and lightweight!I purchased on Amazon because I saved $35 rather than buying through REI.(I wrote this because I love this jacket, and I am doing many reviews for everything I have bought lately.)

I was looking for a breathable, waterproof rain jacket with some tailoring that could pack into its own pocket. I wanted an adjustable hood (because I hate those stupid hoods with the visor part that ends up covering my eyes), and a length that wasn't too short. I found it all with this jacket. I'm 5' 3'' and under 100 lbs, and the XS fits me perfectly. The material isn't too stiff and noisy, and the jacket is light enough to pack easily into a daypack for hiking, take on a boat trip, etc. It's perfect for warmer, wet conditions. I specifically bought it as a summer/spring rain jacket because it's so light and unlined. I love the pink/purple color, too. Overall, very pleased with the quality and details of the jacket.

Like with most "athletic" "outdoor" clothing, you really have to order up. I am 5'9", 185 lbs. A little pudgy (many thanks to grad school and lack of sleep), but not obese by any stretch of the imagination. I usually wear medium or large tops and bottoms. I wear US size 10 slacks. Having tried on other wind breakers / rain jackets in my local co-op, I ordered this jacket in an XL. It is still a bit snug on the hips, but I am pleased with the body length. This is perfect for warmer weather / cool spring evenings. The hood rolls away into the collar if you don't want it hanging about. Overall, considering the tag says the coat retails for much more than I paid,I am very pleased with this purchase.

I ordered a Small, it fits perfectly for my 5’4, 135 lbs frame. I have enough room for my down jacket or vest underneath. Pre-cip is my favorite rain jacket, my previous one lasted 5 years. It’s also the only rain jacket I’ve found that has adjustable hood, adjustable cuffs, AND is adjustable on the bottom of the jacket. So not only is it 100% waterproof, but the other adjustments allow to keep the heat in, as well as unzipping the armpits to get the heat out. I used my previous jacket in torrential rain/hurricane weather, wore it during snow/ice storms, wore it traveling abroad, and wore it for all the rain back home. I wore the heck out of it, it was worth every last penny!

OUTSTANDING JACKET. It breathes well when exercising, has large hand pockets to store items on your run, and is extremely, extremely lightweight. I wish it had a chest pocket, but otherwise, it is excellent. I have not had it in a big rain yet, but in light rain it was easily waterproof. I have one of their more robust rain jackets and this material feels very similar, so I feel confident it will hold up well. It appears to run a bit big, but that is better than most women's items that run tiny these days. Absolutely recommend this as a lightweight, breathable rain jacket for exercising outdoors. It is also far cheaper than the competitors' similar items.

I bought this to wear at work as part of my uniform(work in and out of cooler all day).It is such a nice jacket that I don't want to get it dirty.I wasn't expecting much for the price but was surprised by the weight of it and how well made it is.It is not a heavy jacket by any means but I was expecting a light weight sort of thing. The zippers work well, there are inside pockets, and regular wrist cuffs instead of the usual elastic type.I am 5'7" and got a large,it falls to the top of my hips-great fit.Also-no logo or emblem?I am going to order another so I have one to trash at work.If I get at least 6 months out of it then I consider that a great bargain

This jacket is perfect for rain and wind. I've worn it running in both just rain and wind and in both together and it keeps me totally dry. The ability to cinch the hood is genius, keeps it totally in place and keeps your face dry. The cooling zipper vents under the arms are awesome. I am just over 5'3" and the small fits perfect, it comes down below my waist and the sleeves come down a little past my wrists. The material is super light weight, I've worn it both in warmer weather and chillier weather and been very pleased due to the cinching at the waist, the Velcro sleeves, and the cinching hood. Totally recommend this jacket.

I had to choose between this and the Columbia Arcadia. These two jackets are different - Marmot has zippers under the are to relieve the heat, but it needs them as this jacket has a noisy plastic feel to it. Folded amazingly small and I'm sure it would have protected me from the elements. The Columbia Arcardia has a mesh lining and had more of a jacket feel. The Arcadia jacket supposedly folds into its own pocket but I haven't tried it. Once on an d zippered, the look of both was very equal, but I kept the Arcadia because the price definitely wasn't equal. Both will store nicely in a backpack

I shopped around for a rain jacket for a long time after my old Marmot jacket (which I had owned for about 8 years) started shedding its lining. After a lot of back and forth I decided to stick with the Marmot PreClip. It's an excellent price, wellmade, and keeps the rain off! I like the deep hood, mesh pockets, and slim profile. It's also incredibly lightweight and easy to carry with you in case of rain -- you can roll it up super small in your suitcase when travelling or even scrunch it up and carry it in your purse when running errands.

I replaced an older North Face rain/windproof jacket. It kept the rain out but was not at all breathable and the inside of the jacket would feel wet after moderate activity (even walking the dogs!) So for me breathability and the fit were most important. I am very happy with the Marmot. Moisture does not seem to be an issue, it to repels the rain well and the fit is a bit roomier for ease of movement & comfort. My only disappointment is that it doesn’t have a small pocket on the chest or inside pockets. But I knew that when ordering.

I managed to get this in a lightning deal for about twenty four quid. Bargain. Fits great. Keeps the wind and water out. Great for playground duty when the weather is iffy.Top result! But would I pay full price for one? Nope. I have the Marmot minimalist jacket also and the quality of that is brilliant. The precip just feels too flimsy. An over enthusiastic dog or dodgy barbed wire fence would probably kill it. So no I wouldn't pay full price but since I got a good jacket for the price of a packamac I'm happy.

I had a Marmot breathable/waterproof jacket that went thru downpours for two years. I was sad to discover the waterproof lining peeling away just a week before my backpack trip. Ordered this one, thinking it was same thing. Although it packs into its own pocket, it is a slightly heavier material. I never got to see how it does in a rain storm, but it offered good wind/chill protection and packs inside its own pocket pretty well. Still sorry it's not as light weight as my old one, but looks much sturdier.

Compared to the price of some other waterproofs this is value and a sensible price unlike some of the trendier makes. Good quality. Lightweight but not so thin that it will rip on anything, cut to fit woman's shape, quite generous sizing, decent pockets, good hood and adjustable velcro cuffs. Only thing worse than my last Marmot waterproof, is that there were no zipped vents under the arms, but I had never used them much anyway. Nice bright red. I am pleased with the purchase and would buy again.
