My son is 12yrs old. He has legos from his childhood, and he makes so many cars with them. So I searched in amazon, if there is anything in legos for grown up kids. Then I found that there are these 'Technic' mania all over.I was hesitant looking at the price, thinking whether these are really worth that much. Anyway, my son selected this Pick up truck, this was same rate in rupees when compared to dollars. So I immediately ordered this, we got this for 8500.Delivery was very fast. My son was ecstatic. He took 4days to complete the build. The instructions were clear. I did it one day for few minutes just to get the kick of it. I was confused looking at the pics, whether I was correctly building it,

My initial criticism of this set was ......'We are in the year 2014, and this is what Lego Technic come up with? I have 8466 which come out in 2001 (over 13 years ago), which is so much better despite it's lack of power functions. For 2014, this set has poor functionality, and could have been better powered. Get the 42006 for less money and better functionality or pay a bit more for the 42009 or 42030 and you get value for money. Shame on you Lego for being so lazy in 2014! It looks like 2015 will be a similar draught year for Lego with their recent announcement of the 2015 set releases".After owing this set for a few weeks, I would like to edit my review.This is a customised pick up truck,

This is Big set, bigger box than expected at a decent price(more than decent price), with the option of powering up.The build time is 2 days (i know am very slow, this can be completed 6 to 7 hours) with the usual very clear instructions.The model has rear wheel drive (a bit odd for a pickup), four wheel independent suspension, steering, a winch, a moving v6 engine and the flatbed tips up.The model can be motorized if you have the LEGO Technic 8293: Power Functions Motor Set, but only the winch and the tipper get motorized and not the wheels.There is a second model, a forest skidder, but you need to download the instructions.Overall a very satisfying build with a nice working model the end,

Prof:Lots of useful pieces, like 9 5*11 technic panel. It would be nicer if they are in other colour as I don't want to build a wing body truck with red cargo.Great suspension.Can be easily modded for full remote control.Finally a set motorize with 8293 which uses LED.Good FunCons:It's a pick-up and I hate pick-ups.If you don't mind it's a pick-up than it's a 5 star worth set.

Big set, bigger every box than expected at a decent price, with the option of powering up. If you like pseudo Americana (& my son loves it), this is a great gift for those getting a little beyond Harry Potter and the simple Star Wars without breaking the bank. Chunky, bright yet fun and adjustable, with plenty of ability to tweak ... what's not to like.

We're new to the world of technical Lego, but my 6 year old son, who loves all things Lego and cars, built this with minimal help and loves it. Not sure how long it took him, a bit before school and a bit after school over 5 days thereabouts. The instructions were good to follow and its a nice size. We have more technical Lego ordered!

Awesome truck, great instructions and it's, well, lego! This truck is the proud build of my 9 year old daughter who just loves to show off her creation. The instructions are clear and packaged well. Overall very happy. Just dropped a star due to the cost of the item but that's Lego for you!

A good toy which kept my seven year old grandson occupied for some hours after Christmas, with some help from his father. Now that it is built there is not a lot he can do with it unless he fits a motor!

Bought as a gift. From what I've heard "it's awesooooome" :). Great to have two options, kids and adults won't get bored too easily. And it's LEGO, so you know what you're buying is of great quality.

The truck is just as I thought! It was just like brand new! Only one issue. On the title it said 'Motorised Functions'. I did not receive them. But even without them, I am very happy!

My 8 year old LOVES Lego. This one is a very good size, meaning it satisfies him for several hours and beyond. Makes a perfect gift for a Lego fan either for birthday or Christmas.

Once I started building it for my son I didn't want to put it down lol, it's a very good product with moving Pistons four wheel drive erc etc and my son loves it.

My 10 year old loved this.He built it in 6 hours.Looks great and you can download the 2in1 sheet for another model if you have a spare 200 sheets of paper

Bought as a gift for a 12 year old boy. He could not have been happier. It took a day (off and on) to complete. He would now like more Lego Technic toys.
