One of the two pullback models for 2016 in the Lego Technic series; interesting to note it's going for a particular theme this time which didn't happen the previous three years. In this case, it's a "Cops and Robbers" theme, with this Getaway Racer representing the "Robbers" side of things.I love the design of it; not sure what it's supposed to represent but it seems to be a hybrid of classic/retro and modern hot rods' attributes, with the small cabin, low roof-line, side exhausts, skull and flame livery (surprisingly dark and evil looking for a Lego set! Which I love!), engine intake valve and round exposed headlights/spotlights. Looks very Rock 'n Roll too!The stickers have been improved for 2016 as they now have a shiny plastic film coating on them, making them more water resistant than before. It was a very simple straightforward build, with no fancy techniques being used here. The combi model, the Extreme Police Racer, is the best pullback combi model Lego has come up with since reintroducing the Technic pullback sets in 2013; of course, you have to get the Police Interceptor to build it but it's quite an impressive build and not what you would expect. It uses both pullback motors from both sets and is a very solid build; weighty too so it'll fly across very quickly. That combi build does leave behind a lot of unused pieces but I reuse most of them anyway to toughen up the body kit, rear wing, exhaust system and chassis.A good set and even though the pullbacks don't have functions or moving parts involving pistons or gears, it's a great way to introduce kids to the more technical and advanced Lego sets.

Lovely fun kit to build. I'm used to building the larger technic models but I loved the look of this on the box. There are more pieces than you expect (and not a mountain of small ones to bump up the numbers). The build was fairly straight forward but some nice techniques used for the steering and gears. It had a bit of everything. The final model looks superb! The proportions are just right with a good size bucket seat and large steering wheels. The stickers were probably the hardest thing to put on right but I bet it would look great without stickers too.The instructions for the B model are included in the set which is different to the larger kits. I haven't built this yet so can't comment.I just don't want to break up my little kart.

The most value for money Lego model I've came across yet. I saw the completed model at my brothers place and was immediately impressed with it.I bought it ASAP (for a very reasonable price) and got to work making the alternative model (a long nosed top fuel dragster). Sadly the instructions for the alternative model require one piece that is missing from the kit. (Kinda critical to the steering rack so it can't be just left out too).I cannibalised a piece from an alternative model to finish it by it is chewing up my OCD. Still worth the money if you build the funny car.

This was bought for an eight year old's Birthday as her first piece of Technic Lego, just to see if she enjoyed it as much as the Lego Friends sets she has. It was a great success. It's not a massively complicated set, but challenging enough as a step up from the more junior sets and it has the concept of a piston that changes its frequency of movement based on a 'gear' lever next to the seat. It has real steering and teaches the early basics of using cogs etc. Overall, thoroughly recommended, especially as it is not really that expensive for Technic Lego.

Lovely item and a good step up from Lego city to grow with child and more robust so can play with it without it breaking which is a massive plus. My 6 year old who is quite good at Lego struggled to push some of the parts together as need some force and a bit fiddly but it's great for child and parent to do together if they are under the recommended age. This set teams up with another one to make a larger item too, which is also a good idea.

Overall quite a nice set, with good detail in the form of a intricit gear system and makes for quite a fun building experience. However if you do want to build the advertised second option on the back of the box taking apart the technic parts can be very difficult. If you haven't built lego technic sets before I recomend this as it is relatively easy. If you have built lego technic sets before then this is a set that will not disappoint.

Bought this as a gift for a 7 year old boy. Good quality as you'd expect and worth the money as one of the cheaper technics sets. Needed some adult help to build as a little more complicated than standard Lego construction, but he loved the finished build. All cogs move and function as described. A well designed set for the younger and older boy who loves Lego and wants something a little more complex.

Amazing set for the money and excellent intro to technics. In this case, highlights a number of ways a car works. Much easier to explain to a 5yo how a gearbox works when they can build one themselves. So much detail secondary build is a little less tricky and has a few less features but still fun. Consider it a 911 gt3 rs set for a tenth of the price and a quarter of the fun

Apart from the box, which I purchased as already damaged, the set arrived safely, with all inner bags sealed. I like the color scheme of this and it's my first V8 build after a couple of V6s (from 42022 and 42029) and an inline 4 (from 42037). All in all, a fun build and am enjoying the posing option they included with this :)

So far this has been my favourite Technic build, I regularly go to drag racing events around the uk and both models that can be built from this set look the part. I actually dropped the main model down the stairs after completion, and only a couple of extraneous parts fell off.

Nice model, good size and an excellent first Technic set. Nice idea that it can be combined with the Police Interceptor kit to make a larger model, BUT it's a pity the instructions for this are only available online (84 pages !!)

Got this as a present for my husband's birthday. He started building it the other day and so far it looks great. It seems to be good value for money, but only really worth it if you have the battery power pack that goes with it.

As usual lego produce the best toys and this is a great little car with the added option of pull back function that works great my nephew loves it. Its also good that it can be linked to another car for even more options

Great kit, I had fun making this with my 5yo she leant about how engines, gearing, and steering works with this kit. Once together it's also more robust than standard Lego and stands up well to being played with.

Bought this as a birthday gift for 10-year-old; he enjoyed putting it together and was pleased with the end model. The 'working' components of the engine are a great feature. Size of model is good too.
