Bought this for my 7 year old, who found it pretty straight forward to put together for the most part (with a little bit of help from his 10 year old brother and me. Although the recommended age says 8+, I would say this is probably better suited for 10+ year olds. The instructions (as from the little experience I have with the Lego Technic range) are very good, although at times not always clear, but with a little patience and common sense you can quickly work out where all the bits need to go.Once put together the model feels very sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break with even a hard knock, but Wouldn't recommend throwing it around.I really like the fact that Lego have gone the extra mile and created an app that you can download to your phone and view the instruction manuals before you buy. Sadly neither the manual that comes with the set in the box or on the app detail how to make it in to the secondary/alternate model. For the price I did think I would be getting something not as complex with fewer bits, but hey that's what Lego Technic is all about. Would still say it is a worthy purchase.

My second venture in to the world of Lego Technics and this was a fun build. Probably because I have a tiny bit of experience under my belt now and found the cogs and gears less daunting. It also helps that this is a small kit so there isn't too much gearing to put together. What there is is purely for the propellers so not too onerous. The most awkward bit was attaching the string for the stretcher winch; my sausage fingers did struggle and the ends of the string are a bit dangly as I couldn't get a neat little knot but they don't show with the model on display. Some nicely moulded pieces are included that make for a good looking model when it is completed. As with all the Technics kits there are no mini figures included but I have tried it with one of my Harry Potter figures and they do fit both in the front portion of the helicopter and on the stretcher. So, if bought for play then raid your stash and you can create whatever scenarios you can dream up. Me, I'll leave it on my vehicle shelf to gloat over.Number Of Pieces: 325Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.08Build Time: 1.75 Hours

This is a superb construction set, and you will be unsurprised at the price of official Lego stuff, but even then, it still got a quick intake of breath from me when I saw the RRP - even taking into account that this is Lego Technic rather than basic Lego. Once you're past that, the next thing that I am still getting used to is that Lego is so much more about prescribed models now rather than blocks to fire the imagination. To that end, there are many pieces in this kit that are almost single purpose (not entirely single purpose, but items like the prop shaft can't be extended for larger items like traditional Lego blocks). So, while the helicopter isn't the only thing you could make with it,there are some pieces you would struggle to use elsewhere. The helicopter is a lovely item once made up and will certainly bring a sense of joy. The moving parts are impressive and help younger ones to understand basic physical engineering, which is no bad thing. Overall, really good -- once you get past the asking price.

This is an excellent subject for a Lego set, with lots of moving parts which – in the primary build – go towards making copter blades and a tail rotor which turn in sync, a working rescue winch and six doors. The build time is about 2 hours even for a skilled builder. With all the Technic parts there is more scope for making your own imaginative builds than in a typical Lego box of this size, though you may need to put a few more standard Technic bricks and cogs into the mix from existing sets if you really want to make use of the wide variety of x and o connectors. The instructions for the primary build are – as ever with Lego – comprehensive and high quality. You'll never have to guess what goes where,as every diagram is clear and leaves no room for misunderstanding. If you want to build something different, you can go to the Lego Technic website for a "Concept Plane" design. You don't need to register – just type the set number (42092) into the search box and download a PDF.

Kudos to the design team who worked on this Lego model. Both my 10 and 12 year old got stuck at more than one point. They're not too experienced with Technic, although are both very familiar with many other parts of the Lego range. There are lots of new pieces with which children will not be familiar, which keeps them on their toes when constructing the model. A good grasp of three-dimensional planning and comprehension is certainly required. On the box, this looked more simple than it is. Great value for money! Once constructed it offers scope for further play, rescuing stranded and injured minifigures. For this age range though, the pleasure is in the construction, not really the role-play.A really good entry in the series.NB: As for most Technic sets, ensure you have a temporary storage solution for the parts whilst being built. Lots of small parts can be easily lost, I wouldn't leave them in the bags which cannot be sealed, or the box, which also doesn't seal well.

I love Lego and this is a excellent set from the Lego technic range which is the more challenging range for older children. The range goes beyond the normal simple lego blocks and includes a huge range of parts designed to teach children basic engineering and problem solving principles. The sets are graded by difficulty according to age range and number of parts which also roughly determines the price. This is a set for ages 8+ and comprises 325 pieces. It should keep your child busy for a few hours and once they have built the helicopter and finished playing with it, they can download instructions to build the alternate model concept plane. There are only a few Technic sets for under 20 pounds and most are a lot more.At the time of writing this review the RRP was 24.99 which is reasonably good value and is a good introduction to the Technic range.

This set, straight from the box builds up into a model rescue helicopter. Being Lego Technics the finished model has some limited functionality in this case turning rotors that also work the tail rotor and the working winch with a stretcher. It’s a neat model though it lacks the playability of the standard Lego set and isn’t readily compatible with mini figures (none included). The only set of instructions included in the box are for the helicopter though it includes a web address for instructions on building a swing wing fighter jet. This model is less interesting and feels quite fragile. Both models can be built in about 60 to 90 minutes. It’s hard to know who the target market of this set is as it is very simple for a Technics set, however, it is fun to build.

Lego is always high quality and satisfying to build and this set is no exception.I only built one of the three possible models, the helicopter, as there are only enough parts to build one with the included pieces. It is a good size for kids to play with and has quite a few moving parts such as winch which can be used to lift an included stretcher and you can turn a knob on the bottom to spin both rotors. The doors also open. The moving parts are simple and aren't hard to make as the instructions are clear as usual from Lego.Be aware that like all Lego technic products it doesn't include minifigures and the model isn't designed to accomodate them.Overall, its a good product and compared to other lego sets it's good value.

This was a challenging build for our 8 year old Lego fan but he was up for it. It kept him occupied for nearly 2 hours and he is an experienced Lego builder - but he said that this is quite complex compared to the previous sets he has had - this is his first Technics set. He likes the final result and thinks it is definitely worth the price. I personally think the Technics stuff is some of the better priced Lego as it offers more (I love the moving parts myself) and is less gimmicky than the movie related pieces. For me, Lego is great value - it lasts well and can be re-boxed and kept for the next kid when they move on. We always keep the box and brochure!

I got this lego helicopter by REWE sammlung punkte.Pros: such a small set could make such a good model, the price is very reasonable and mechanic of the rotation of the propeller is the highlight (though the real helicopter doesn't work that way).Cons: the stickers. Actually lots of the lego sets have such problem of using too many stickers. Better print the details on the bricks, because for people with shaking hands, one mistake may ruin the whole playing experience.

This helicopter goes well with the Fire Plane, First Responder, and Airport Rescue. The only negative about the helicopter is the two pointy red pieces at the top on the side as they are little wobbly and move easily. The rope was a little annoying to knot and tie. Its cool that there is a little bed, too, but I wish there was a little more room to put the bed inside of the helicopter. Goes well with the emergency vehicles

Was very fun making this helicopter, the winch is a cool feature too. The blades are fun and can be spun using the gear system! It’s a good size too! It’s technically a 2in1 build but to build the plane you need to deconstruct everything and then download an instruction manual from the Lego website. The instructions in the box are only for the heli.

Nice Lego Technic Air Ambulance, not quite as big as I was expecting but still a good play worthy size. Based or a generic Air Ambulance with rear opening doors for a stretcher to be inserted. It would be nice for Lego to have included some stickers for it, but no great hardship to create some of my own and print them out on my inkjet printer.

This is how Lego should be. Simple to build with good playability at reasonable price. There is a cog at the bottom of helicopter, by rotating which you can make main rotor and tail rotor spin. This is 1:1 spin though, I would have liked rotors spin faster. The doors open and winch on the side can be raised and lowered.

Easy to follow instructions. Took a while to make but worth it.Packaging was in 3 bags. Box had a lid so able to empty all contents into the box, rather then spreading out all over the table. When you want a break you can close the box put the ongoing build on the top and know everything is safe and secure.
