Rogue One Is already causing waves of excitement amongst Star Wars fans, and for me one of the biggest causes for excitement is the return of some classic design ships and vehicles. Whilst the colossal AT-AT is the most imposing Imperial walker, the smaller bipedal AT-ST is a childhood favourite, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to own it in Lego form!It comes in a medium-sized box, so if wrapped up as a present will look pretty impressive but not necessarily huge. Once you're in, the build is a bit of a mixed bag, and the most unusual out of the 10 Star Wars Lego sets I've built so far.Due to the overall design of the legs, it builds largely like a Technic Lego set, with lots of pegs slotting into holes, rather than the more traditional build of clipping bricks in together. As an adult I found this a little bit tedious, but for children towards the lower end of the 8-14 age range this will probably be a bit of a struggle, and so adult help will most likely be required. On top of this, there's also obviously a lot of repetition here seeing as the two legs are mirrored builds, so this may also test the patience of younger builders.Once the legs are done, the body is a more traditional Lego build, and so far more enjoyable. The inside of the cockpit has a nice touch of detail, and there are plenty of moving parts to play with! The front and side cannons are all mobile, the lasers fire, and the entire upper body rotates with the turn of a dial on the back, and both the top hatch and the entire cockpit roof open up, undoubtedly leading to hours of fun!The two downsides are that there are a few stickers, which are a put-off for some collectors, and the upper body of the AT-ST isn't massively sturdy once assembled. It should be fine on the shelf with the rest of the collection, but if it's being played with by a child then it might come apart during some of the more excitable moments! In total the build took me - a thirty-something semi-adult - just over an hour and a half. As is standard with larger Lego sets, the pieces were separated into several bags (3 in this case) to break the build into easier modules. Due to the large number of pegs involved in construction, I imagine this would be a lot more fiddly upon repeated builds when the pieces are all just jumbled into a single pile! The set comes with three minifigures, which are all done up to the usual high Lego standard. You get the AT-ST driver with two facial expressions to choose from, and a generic Rebel trooper. You also get new Rogue One character Baze Malbus, complete with his signature heavy blaster. For the size and price of this set, it's a very nice little minifigure range.Overall it's a great looking model and very good value for money, but not that sturdy and young children would probably struggle with the legs.

The new wave of Lego Star Wars was released on 30/09/16, Force Friday, and as most of the sets are based on the upcoming Rogue One film it's been a little bit difficult to get too excited about them as we're not yet familiar with them. However, the AT-ST is an old favourite that has been released a number of times before and is a welcome return.Otherwise known as the Chicken Walker, the previous sets have all been retired for some time and as such sell for high value on second hand sites, not least the Ultimate Collection Series version. Surprisingly this new version is one of the cheapest sets released on Force Friday, and with the exception of the highly detailed UCS model it's the best ones yet.It took me just over an hour to complete,so it's not the biggest of builds, but it was a satisfying one. It comes in three bags of bricks and once built is a decent size. Scale wise it stands very nicely next to the recently retired AT-AT model which is still one of my favourites, and a match for many much more expensive models in my collection. This set is going to appeal to fans of the original films, new fans when it appears in Rogue One (presumably) and children and adults alike. Like the AT-AT it has a lot of character and will be a loved addition to anyone's collection.

Does what it says on the tin. Yes it is expensive; it is Lego. It is well designed, well made with clear easy to follow instructions. If your child likes Lego and Star Wars then this is an excellent addition to any collection. If you are buying for someone who may already have this kit it is still a good buy because you can never have too many AT ST Walkers, it's not like some other kits where you should always just have one, so it is a safe bet as a gift.

This thing is taller than that of the tie fighters they are selling for episode 7, amazing kit very detailed. Only down side is the troopers. Only one pilot a rebel and baze Malbus who does not come with his best friend like in the movie. Other than that a very good kit!

A great set and one of the more enjoyable Rogue One sets I have built - I have built most of them. The turning feature of the turret is particularly great and you get a few minifigures in there too.Probably one that younger. Holders can do almost on their one.

Bought for a Star Wars obsessed 7 year old. He had no trouble building the set himself (he's quite experienced at lego!) Some good features such as rotating head unit. A little expensive as usual for themed Lego, but not bad value.

Bought this for my grandson's ninth birthday. He loves it and he has given it five stars. He's having lots of fun constructing it and I'm sure children of a similar age will find the same. It was a good offer price too.

I pretend this is simply an upgrade over the original AT-ST that has since been discontinued. Goes great in my Hoth scene. Also has a great feature where the head is rotatable

My 10 yr old Lego addict loves this set, needed some help from Dad as it's quite a fiddly build and it needs to be played with gently as it doesn't move easily.

Usual Lego standard. Not too difficult to build. It took my 10 year old 4 hours to put it together. Nice looking model and addition to his Star Wars Lego set.

My nine year-old grandson loves it. Great to play with as various parts move and an excellent addition to all the other figures.

It is a really good set with lots of detail and amazing minifigures, but it is quite wobbly and might fall over if knocked!
