This is the first 'lego' kit we've bought and we're really pleased with it. A lot of reviews of the smaller sets seem to say they are disappointed with actually how much lego you get, but we were more than happy with how much there is in this one, especially when we paid only £7.50 and free delivery.Straight away my son grabbed the little man (with a red hat, which our son loves putting on and off!) and we built the car, house, tree, cat and a helicopter and still have quite a few bricks leftover - then looked on the box and realised you can do a windmill too (will try that tonight!).Our son is actually only 2 and a half, and I know the box says age 4 plus, but he's always been really good with fine motor skills and little bits. He's played with lego at other people's houses, which then makes the duplo stuff look huge, so we thought we'd get him a lego starter set and see how he gets on. He can build and put the bricks together easily but finds it hard to separate the bricks, but we're usually playing with him so can help him out. This is good value for money. We are wary that the bigger sets are expensive, so will probably add to this collection with some secondhand ebay lego (though there's always birthdays and christmas). My husband and myself really like playing with lego too so it's nice to have something we all like to get involved with!We will need a better box at some point though as it's only cardboard but that's not too much of a problem, and what can you expect for £7.50!

When it comes to lego, it tends to be quite expensive, although saying that regardless of price it is one of the most durable toys that lasts kids for donkeys years and provides hours of fun. So ultimately is worth paying for. However this little set is at such a brilliant price, has lots of bits, everything kids would want! The box is nice and sturdy and the lid itself doubles up as the base plate which is such a FANTASIC idea. From my previous experience, kids love the character lego sets e.g. star wars, toy story and love the different sets e.g ninjago, city. However, only downfall with those sets is that they tend to make what it is intended for (for example a lorry) once, maybe twice and play with it and then never make it into that again. They take it apart and make whatever they want out of it e.g a house, a spaceship. This is where I think this set is fantastic, because you can make set things e.g a house, a helicopter and it has the correct pieces to do so but the whole purpose of lego in my mind is to make whatever you want with it and use your imagination and this enable you to do exactly that for not much money at all and without having funny little pieces here, there and everywhere! Absolutley brilliant, more than chuffed with this product, as is my son!!!

My daughter was given this set for her 4th birthday and is an ideal Lego started kit. She also has the slightly larger blue tub of bricks, but this set is cheaper, comes with a base plate, a minifigure and has slightly more bricks. Base plates are quite expensive and that is what makes this set good value. It isn't a giant set, but what do you expect for a tenner. There are step by step instructions to build a helicopter, car and house (or front of a house). Other ideas are given in pictures on the box and in the instruction booklet. The only downside is that the box is only cardboard and while you can store the bricks in it, a tub with a secure lid stops Lego being spilt all over the floor.Remember that some of the ideas are on the box, so if you do get rid of the box you won't have them to reference later.

I wanted a starter Lego kit for christmas for my Nephew, having read all of the reviews on here this was a great box of Lego,I was worried it was a little small, but i expected that as some of the reviews had said it was, having said that,it contains a nice mix of lots of colours, enough pieces to make around 5 models, and a small base board which is great! and also windows, door a lego person..wheels.This is a perfect box of Lego for the 4+ age group, If you dont want to buy a huge overwhelming amount of lego which may well contain just bricks,Or a box that just contains one model. My Nephew who is 4, was really happy with his Lego!my order which i made in the last few days before christmas arrived very quickly, thankyou Amazon!

I love the fact that this comes with a baseplate as a lid, very useful but why don't they sell the base plates like this anywhere as well as the flat ones, this is much sturdier?!! In this box you get as a rough guide - 1 person, a cat face (and bricks to build its body), 2 sets of wheels, a steering wheel, a propeller cross, a door, 2 windows, windscreen, spanner, 4 tiny rounds, 11 roofing bricks, 4 arches, 23 thin/flat bricks of different sizes, bricks- 1 spot- 12, 2spot- 21, 2x2- 73, 1x4- 17, 4x2- 20, 8x1- 2, there are some ideas on the box and it's fairly easy to figure out from them how to make them!A good set to add to existing collections or to add to in the future if it's your first!

Good points - thick card box for storage and the lid is a baseplate.Bad Points - my little girl got upset she had to break each model to do another in the leaflet ................... even if you could make 2 small ones without breaking one up it would be nicer - she didn't want to spend 40 minutes making a model only to have to break it straight away to do anything else. Was a good price though and she has had fun with it.

Wanted a few extra blocks so I could play Creationary with a little modification : all four of me and my friends build something each round (the game tends to be boring for the guys waiting on the one who's building). You also get a small baseplate, and those are hard to find/expensive.Fairly cheap, lot's of pieces (black pieces hurray), perfect for what I needed

I have always been a huge fan of Lego, and I thought it was time for my son to move on from Mega-Bloks, so I bought him this Lego set. He loves it and has played with it a lot. There is plenty in the set for him to build, and he just loves stacking all the bricks. It's a great starter set and a great place for kids to begin their Lego experience!

I bought this for my friends little boy's 4th Birthday. Packaging quite small but enough bricks etc to get started with Lego (Can build a small house, car & helicopter.) I think it's an ideal present to take to a birthday party but I would probably buy a bigger set for my own child. My friend says her little boy loves it.

This little box of Lego is a great self contained box of fun,all the elements are here, windows, wheels, minifigure and even a lid that's a base plate which is really useful as those things are sometimes hard to find on the high street.I've already bought 2 of these to build up my brick collection, you can't go wrong.

He loves it, this was his first Lego set and he didn't take long to figure out how the blocks fit together. This set has a range of different blocks and some wheels. As an introduction to Lego I would recommend it. The box is way too big. I suppose if needed could be used to store other Lego not boxed.

I bought it in December 2012 for my two kids. I only can say that they are pleased with it, lots of pieces for an excellent price (£7.65) and a base that you can use to construct some structures. I've only added two more box and they have plenty of pieces to play for hours.

Bought for my 3 year old as he wanted his own set like his big brother. It is smaller than I thought but generally does the job. He was a bit upset that he couldn't make all of the ideas on the box without taking others apart - but then he is only 3!

I bought this as a present for my 4 year old boy..it was an instant success!!! He loved every bit of it..we have built both the house and the windmill and I have to say I think he never played with anything as much as he plays with this Lego.

In my opinion, this is a most excellent set, although I would stipulate that there are a number of rather small pieces contained in it. I was pleased to be able to find a set with which I could create vehicles on Amazon.
