With "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" being my favorite of the Potter films, I've been eagerly awaiting this set's release, and I am pleased to say I was not disappointed. LEGO has really outdone themselves, giving fans a set that does an excellent job of recreating the look and atmosphere of the film while also being a great addition to any of the existing Hogwarts Castle sets.As an experienced LEGO builder, the build went pretty quickly, roughly 2.5-3 hours, though I opted to build only the main Clock Tower and not the additional tower or Great Hall dance floor, finding them a bit cramped. That being said, the Clock Tower is an impressive piece both inside out, with a lot of nice architectural details that give it a gorgeous silhouette, and room for three fairly large rooms inside, courtesy of the piece's majestic height. While LEGO could have easily rehashed the same layout of 2004's Clock Tower, with this set, we’re given three brand-new rooms in Hogwarts (the Hospital Wing, the Prefect’s Bathroom, and Moody’s Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom), as well as a different take on Dumbledore’s office, a Clock Tower entrance hall, and a partial Great Hall with icy arches and a dance floor to represent the Yule Ball. While the rooms themselves could have been a bit deeper in my opinion, it’s the details that make them so special. In the Hospital Wing (which is located, to my delight, on the same floor as shown in the films!), we get two beds with green “sheets”, side-tables with lamps, and even curtains. The DADA classroom has a great blackboard complete with Moody's scrawly handwriting detailing the Unforgivable Curses, a nice desk with a quill pen and book, and a table full of Dark Detectors and other objects. Even the relatively bare Clock Tower entrance hall comes with a trunk (presumably to keep Mad-Eye Moody in!) and the Goblet of Fire itself. The secondary tower is disappointingly cramped, but still has some great rooms. The Prefect’s Bathroom is probably my favorite of all, with a bathtub, taps with flowing water, and even a mermaid “stained-glass” window, just like in the film. The partial Great Hall comes with two tables topped with movie-accurate icy centerpieces and a Christmas tree. And, while a bit small, Dumbledore's office has a new desk chair and desk, as well as some great stickers representing the arched room shown in the film. While the small size of the secondary tower is a bit disappointing, the large Clock Tower rooms more than make up for it. I decided to co-opt the DADA space as the new Prefect's Bathroom, which in my opinion looks much better, and allows the beautiful stained-glass window to be the main focus of the room. It also looks great when viewed through the tall window on the exterior! Using the new accessories and stickers, I've had fun supplementing my existing (and more movie-accurate) Dumbledore’s Tower from the 2010 Hogwarts Castle set (4842) and DADA classroom. I’ve even gone so far as to decorate my Great Hall for the Yule Ball, using the tables, Christmas tree, and icy arches; I love it so much, I might just leave it like this year-round!Aside from the Clock Tower itself, the eight unique minifigures are reason enough to buy this set. It’s great to have some new characters like Madame Maxime, Fleur Delacour, Cedric Diggory, and Viktor Krum in addition to the usual Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Dumbledore, and it’s a lot of fun seeing everyone in their dress robes. While it annoys me that LEGO is continuing their trend of giving the Trio stubby legs, which makes them hard to integrate with earlier minifigures, the plain black legs on Ron and Harry are easy to swap out for longer ones.A fun set whether you’re an old hand at the LEGO Harry Potter series or are just discovering it, I absolutely recommend it!

I was so happy in 2018 when Lego Harry Potter returned. Building Hogwarts Great Hall and Whomping Willow were such fantastic experiences. So many fun details and they really do put you into that universe. So when the Clocktower was announced I was just happy to get anything else to add to it. Honestly it does not look too impressive to me in the photos or on the box art. It is decent but does not really stand out like previous two. However, once I started building this my mind changed very quickly. This is built (like the Whomping Willow) in multiple sections that are modular like the Creator buildings. Once you have built each section you have lots of options on how you want to configure your personal Hogwarts for either play or display,or both. Each section of this particular set is unique and contains many of the wonderful interior areas of the castle including the bathhouse, Dumbledore's office and the DADA classroom. I love all of the little details that add to the Hogwarts ambiance. Also, more specific to a particular film is the ball from Goblet of Fire. The build and the dancing feature are actually very impressive as are the table and the Christmas tree. They really are quite fun and beautiful. Personally I wish this section was not so specific (same issue with the minfigs). That said, what has been done here is very, very nice. The exterior looks awesome on each section and all of it is fun to build. I actually had as much fun building this as I did "An Unexpected Gathering," which to date is my favorite Lego set of all time. I really cannot stress how fun the build is on this one. Little variances in the techniques keep it interesting, and seeing each of the rooms come together was just so rewarding. I like all of the minifigs in this for the most part. On one hand it is really nice to get the Yule Ball versions of these characters (something different). On the other, I think I would have preferred something else. Just personal preference here. Dumbledore, Harry and Ron look great. Cedric, the tall lady (sorry her name always eludes me) and Fleur are decent as well. Hermoine looks nice but her dress is an odd choice using a standard 1x2 with print for her legs and then a 1x2 plate for her shoes and to make her height appropriate. Neat idea.... A for effort and creativity but it looks a little weird to me. Viktor's torso is great, face acceptable, and bottom also fine. Using Finn's hair for him does not look right to me. I know this was chosen probably to keep cost down but maybe future Viktor's will look a little more like him in the hair and face dept. Overall I loved building this and the way it looks combined with my other Hogwarts sets. I am really hoping this trend continues with the "Modular Hogwarts" builds for many years in the future. I am just going to have to get a larger table to display it on!Keep up the good work Lego and PLEASE keep these Hogwarts sets comings. I know I am not the only one who is loving this. Now, if we can just get back to competing the Lord of the Rings line.........

I cannot get over how much detail there is in this set, which was fun to build, and obviously interact with. I write interact because some not very clever people will think that this is just for children, but of course, as us more intelligent beings, who are in the know, will also recognise this is a diorama which we can interact with (play with). The instructions as you would expect are clear and simple, and thus putting this together is not a long task, although to be honest we started playing with the dance floor whist constructing this, in our own Strictly dance-off. There is no skimping on mini figures here either, as you get eight in total, Madame Maxime, Albus Dumbledore, Viktor Krum,Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour, Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, and Hermione Granger. All the figures come in their finery ready for the evening entertainments, and they all have magic wands, plus the heads are two faced so you can have them showing different expressions. With a moving dance floor, you also have a clock that moves as well, and there is a lot of thought that has gone into this. With the hospital wing we can see that there are bedside cabinets with lamps on them next to the beds, also Dumbledore’s office and the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom show a lot of detail and things to play with, including a spell book that opens, and both have quill pens. In the entrance there is a chest that also opens, which is good to keep some spare wands in. There is a prefect’s bathroom that has the taps running and a stained-glass window. There is a Christmas Tree and a couple of tables all ready to be used for the festivities. What I was surprised to find was a set of tools including power tools, so that everything can be kept in shipshape order. From the front this looks great, but when you turn it around to show the interior, then this becomes rather stunning, and has more than enough elements to keep children (and adults) playing for ages. As this can also be connected with the Whomping Willow set and thus also with the Hogwart’s Great Hall set, so you can build up a bigger play scene if you so desire. In all though there is a lot here on offer for creating your own scenes from the books, or making up new ones, and is sure to do well.Although photos do help you see what the finished model is like, they cannot really do something like this justice, as it is only as you build this, or watch it being built, that you realise all the things that go into it, to make it as realistic as possible.

As a fan of Harry Potter since the 90s, I feel like I have been waiting for a Yule Ball set my entire life. This one does not disappoint. It is a beautiful addition to the modular Hogwarts in this line, and is filled with great figures and rooms we haven't seen before. The exterior is intricately designed, and works well for display, but the interior has a really nice variety of rooms related to movies 3 and 4. I enjoyed the build of Dumbledore's office (it's finally round this time!), but it is a bit small. The DADA classroom is a really well-done spot that can be repurposed for whatever class you choose, It's also really nice to have this class and the potions class (in the whomping willow set)to give your minifigures a full schedule! The real treat for me, aside from the gorgeously detailed Youll Ball figures, are the hospital wing and the prefect's bathroom. We haven't seen either of them in lego so far, and they're both extremely detailed, but also leave enough room to still be "playable". The biggest improvement I noticed about this set is that the rooms are notably larger than those in the Great Hall tower. There is lots of room to play and also to really remodel rooms with your own scenes. I'm thinking of instialling a gryffindor tower into dubledore's office, or possibly using the pieces to create a library. Lastly, the variety of figures makes this a must-have for any Potterhead. YULE BALL HERMIONE! FINALLY! Also I love Dumbledore in the purple robes, Ron's detailed, but horrid robes, and Fleur's dress. I wish we would have gotten a Parvati, to take Harry to the Ball, but maybe she'll come in a minifigure set if Lego does Harry Potter Series 2. I absolutely recommend this set, and find that for the level of detail, size and figure assortment, it is well worth the price.

This is a beautifully made set that's great for any child or adult fan of Harry Potter! It's recommended for ages 9+ but the build is not too difficult and the instruction booklet is comprehensive, so younger children will probably be okay with a bit of help. As you'd expect from LEGO, the quality is excellent, and although the set is undoubtedly pricey, you do get a lot of detail provided including five different rooms and eight figures. The five different rooms include a Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the hospital wing, the prefect's bathroom (complete with bubbles, running taps and 'stained glass' windows), the entrance foyer for the Great Hall, and Dumbledore's office (which includes details like his memory bowl and quill). These different locations enable lots of interactive play including lessons, injuries, confrontations with the headmaster, etc. There are also decorations provided for the Yule Ball, including ice sculptures, tables with glasses, and a rotating platform so that the figures can dance together! The figures are mostly great too, with Harry looking very realistic, Ron's outfit being adorably hilarious, Cedric looking dashing and Fleur, Viktor and Madame Maxime representing the less well-known characters from the Goblet of Fire. Hermione doesn't look much like her at all, but her dress is cute. There are some slight oversights - I think it would have been nice to include a DADA teacher and/or Madam Pomfrey for the hospital wing, but overall this is a great set with a generous amount of figures and accessories and lots of play opportunities.

This is an awesome set - there is so much detail and such great characters, it is a joy to build and to play with. You get 8 mini figures - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Fleur Delacour, Cedric Diggory, Viktor Krum, Albus Dumbledore and Madame Maxime, all looking very glam, ready for the Yule Ball. I love the two-faced options - giving the characters the expression of the moment and my kids have had fun making movies of the characters swapping their faces around as they do so. Everyone has a magic wand - so as you can imagine, there is a lot of spell-casting going on!The clock tower from the outside looks amazing once built and you can turn the clock hands from the inside - playing with time (and time travel).Flipping the tower around, you can see everything that is going on behind closed doors - there is the entrance hall, with a chest and the goblet of fire; the prefect's bathroom has the most amazing stained glass window of a mermaid; there is Dumbledore's office, a hospital wing, Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and the yule ball dance floor, which spins the dancers round and round. There is a snowy Christmas tree and icy decorations, which fit the theme well.Whilst this isn't cheap - this is great value for money and has so much about it - it took us a couple of hours to build (in a leisurely fashion) and we have it on display to pull out and play with whenever we want and it looks great on display as well.

Lots of fun details in this kit that is definitely based around the Yule Ball that takes place in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The little tables with the icicle detailing are so cute looking and the first thing you build so it gives you hope for the set being highly detailed and kind of sweet. The next part of the build is building a dance floor and it is built from interconnecting cogs that mean as you move one the full set of 4 move as does the dancefloor so it gives the effect of the minifigures waltzing around. Throw in the detailing of the Prefect's Bathroom and the running taps and even if the rest of it was a cop out on the detailing it would still be a good buy. This is Lego though so there is definitely no copping out going on.This was a really fun build and I took my time with it to draw out the set a little so lots of little breaks to sit back and gloat over my build. The build time I posted is the actual time spent building and not including all my little breaks which pushed it to over 5 Hours.Links really well with the other sets and has a high amount of play value.Number of Pieces: 922Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.09Build Time: 3.25 Hours

Christmas has come early with this Yule Ball themed Hogwarts Party set.At £84.99 it is a bargain for the play potential alone. The set contains a three-level LEGO Hogwarts Castle Clock Tower and a fabulous array of eight mini-figures including Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fleur, Cedric, Viktor, Dumbledore and Madame Maxime. (So you may need a Hagrid figure so Madam Maxime has a partner to dance with.Add that to the great locations including theDefence Against the Dark Arts classroom, Dumbledore's Office, Hospital Wing, Prefects' Bathroom and a Yule Ball scene and you have the potential for hours of play. The Yule ball scene has two icy tables, buildable icy sculpture and a Christmas Tree. Then there are the delightful features a clock-changing mechanism to create Time-Turner time travel adventures. All I need to add is that the figures are dressed for the Yule Ball and there you have it.An Iconic Lego Playset.

This set actually comes in a fairly imposing box, with the clock tower on the front.Having unboxed it fairly swiftly, it was nice to see that the instructions were clear, lacking the Ikea-like confusion of older sets. There's some nice detail work here (the twirling clock tower hand was especially enjoyable). It's moderately complex to put together - would suggest sitting down with kids to step them through it, and/or not having a few drinks before you start; you may need all your attention! That said, it looks great once fully assembled, and now occupies a place of honour in our house (at least until the next set). It's got everything you want from Lego really - fun to put together, looks great assembled, will make the kids thing a bit, but isn't too frustrating. If they're Harry Potter fans, add a star for franchise excitement.

This is a large Lego Set building the Hogwarts Castle Clock Tower and containing 8 mini figures, including primary characters, in their “Winter Ball” outfits. The tower is articulated with accessible interior features and details such as a moving clock face (with a hand crank mechanism) and the interiors include Dumbledore’s Office and the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom (small sized but available for play). As it is the Winter Ball, there is a dancing mechanism and a Yule tree. The set has 922 pieces and so is a fun build for an adult Lego collector and perhaps a challenge for a younger builder (depending on age) but not so challenging as to be frustrating. All in all,a quality set that will be a favourite with both Potter fans and Lego fans alike – if you are a fan of both then this is definitely a set for you.

I love this Harry Potter series, have the Great Hall, Womping Willows and Clock Tower and their quite impressive when you put them all together. Overall it is a fun and like able build with not to many large pieces making it also somewhat challenging. It would be a five star review but for ONE super annoying thing that would seem so EASY to get right. THE STICKERS BACKGROUND ARE NOT THE SAME COLOR AS THE LEGO.First of all, I’m not a fan of the stickers and prefer them printed on the LEGO piece. But come on, at least get the color nuances right so that it has a chance to blend in when on the piece. Now you clearly see it’s a stickers and it looks bad.Sorry LEGO,but pleaseTry to improve on this!Hoping for more great HP sets in the future.

Great set and really enjoyable build. It is nice to see that LEGO expands their modular Harry Potter line, however that comes with slight negative- if you add all three modular sets together, it becomes little bit too long and look almost like 2d representation of the Hogwarts castle. It would be nice if LEGO expanded this modular line little bit into height and space, to bring the castle to more 3D dimension :) Also it almost dwarves the tower that comes with Great Hall, which is supposed to be at least twice as high according to the movies. But hey this is mostly play set. People that want more realism can always buy the whole Hogwarts Castle set, so all above is just minor thing. As standalone, this set is amazing

This set has some great examples of how the Lego team cleverly uses existing pieces to create new features and I enjoyed discovering all of them. Additionally, the printed clock face and bathroom window sticker are delightful installments. The clock tower's facade is impressive, and covers a sturdy, solid building that is a must-have to complete the Hogwarts grounds. It is apparent that the planning team did a good job of including all of the important rooms into each building. There are a good amount of figures to pose in the Yule ball. Amazing gift for Potter fans, but careful because it is extremely addicting! I was not satisfied until i had the entire collection. It looks amazing so far!

LEGO is very popular in our house and we have many of the sets. This is the first one where I have loved the subject. There are some really nice touches for the Harry Potter fan - my favourite being Dumbledore's office. It was great fun to build and the level of detail is just fantastic. I also love that it connects to other Harry Potter LEGO sets and many scenes can be replicated. All the moving parts add to the massive playability that it offers as well as the generous offering of eight mini figures to role play with. When built the inside of the castle looks positively stunning - a thousand stars for presentation.I'm so impressed and would highly recommend to Harry Potter and LEGO fans.

25.11.2019

The construction is quite straight forward, with the waltz feature being the unexpected surprise. The building is quite detailed. The only detraction is the 45 degree angle of some parts that make it difficult to attach to a basenplate as-is. A few modifications will fix that if one is building a massive Hogwarts Castle with these sets. If this is the final series for Lego Harry Potter, then they are going out with a bang. Excellent details, play features, and assortment of minifigures leaves little, if anything, to be desired. Compared to the first series of 2001, this wave of 2018/2019 sets are phenomenal.
