I suppose that I must start out this review by admitting that I honestly bought this set for my almost-30-year-old self. I bought this set in conjunction with the Food Accessories Extra pack, primarily because I noticed that this set contains a carrot without a carrot top, whereas the Extra pack contains an extra carrot top. I was initially worried that this set might not come with two roller skates, but my fears there were unfounded - one of the (very few) extra elements in this set is a second roller skate! Now to the reasoning behind this review's title. For starters, I grew up with the LEGO Town and City Center sets, and have grown accustomed to seeing LEGO sets that include a pushbroom come with a black shovel.Alas, this set, like so many other City sets these days, comes with a dark gray shovel to compliment the pushbroom. I was slightly disappointed, also, by the lack of proper handholds for the second minifigure, who is left to try to hold on to the 1X6 Hangers on the dump bed - barely! The printing on the printed elements is crisp, but, unfortunately, more translucent than the images show, especially on the bumper element. I was a bit taken aback, also, by the fact that the designer only saw fit to provide one bumper element - the rear of the model looks a bit bare without one. Finally, the dumpster has to be picked up to latch onto the back of the dump bed; most children wouldn't think twice about this, but as someone on the Autism spectrum, I can tell you that kids who are also on the spectrum would be a little bit frustrated by this lack of operational realism. In light of this, the dumpster in my set - as well as the latch on the back of the dump bed - got taken apart fairly quickly. The two dark gray plates with the bar on the sides have since seen new life as handholds on the sides of the cab, while the green panels will eventually be integrated into a grain truck which I have designed to go with my Harvester Transport set (please see my review of that set). With all of this in mind, I stand by my statement that I would, in fact, recommend this set to a friend. The build is simple and fun, and I do believe that I was able to complete it in about ten minutes or less, a personal record for a non-Advent Calendar model, I believe! Any child, spectrum or not, will appreciate the larger pieces and easy-to-build design, and I believe that that is why this set is worth the money. Almost.

This is a nice little Lego set for younger builders. Like the Lego Juniors sets that we’ve had before, this set relies on several large solid bits of Lego that you attach smaller pieces to. In this case the whole grey chassis section is one piece that just needs the tyre’s popping on, and the orange tipper truck section at the back is also one piece. This not only makes it easy to build but means that it makes a solid toy to play with once you’ve built it. Courtesy of two older brothers, my three-year-old has been playing with Lego for some time. His oldest brother helped him put it together by pointing to the pictorial instructions and saying things like, “can you find this piece for me next”.It resulted in an unusually harmonious half an hour of building. There’re quite a few little bits of “rubbish” supplied but to be honest I just tipped them into the Lego drawer – otherwise I’ll be standing on them for the next month, and everybody knows how painful that is.

My grandson was so excited when this arrived today.He has quite a thing for garbage trucks as well as Lego, so this was ideal for him. He is four and easily managed to put this together quickly with a little help. He really enjoyed assembling the truck, which tilts. The instructions are clear and very easy to follow. He enjoyed brushing up the garbage into the bin, then loading the dumpster into the truck.This Lego set includes 2 Lego mini-figures, a shovel, broom, banana, fish and extra bricks. We had hours of fun playing with this Lego. I think it is his favourite so far. Lego is not cheap, but I feel it is worth it. The pieces fit together easily.My grandsons motor skills have improved since we started with Lego and he can concentrate for longer periods of time.

With its combination of big truck, garbage and the theme of tidying up this set is a triple winner.The LEGO 60220 City Great Vehicles Garbage Truck Toy is a good kit at a really good price.You get the vehicle which is great savvy parents know little kids love big things – trucks, trains, elephants, dinosaurs and the like.You get two hard-working Minifigures, a male and a female and some great accessories for the tidy two to pick up large bananas, fish skeletons and other trash.The sneaky bit.Now I should not say this because this is sneaky. You can actually get your children to having fun tidying up and clearing away!Think about it a toy that will save you hours of getting the kids into thehabit of putting their stuff away.Recommended.Thanks for reading.

A relatively simple set, ideal for younger forays in to Lego. Each page only has a couple of new parts and with few overlapping layers, the instructions are simple to follow. Aiming at this earlier age range (low to mid primary), there are opportunities for role play too. The bin empties in to the truck, the truck raises it's skip and it includes two mini-figures, which I thought was rather generous. Of course, the truck is mobile, with chunky wheels. No sticking is required, the logos on the truck are a part of the bricks (another win!).My children have scores of Lego sets and this is the fist time a banana has turned up! The contents of the rubbish bin are brilliant! A great value set.

As you would expect from Lego, this is a well packed and well documented kit.Well documented because the instructions are super easy to follow and they are all pictures because this set is marked four years plus.My eight year old completed it in twenty minutes, she found the instructions intuitive and the only problems she had was when I interfered and put a piece in the wrong place by mistake.The nice thing about the garbage truck is that when its finished, it can be played with. The tipper works and you can hook up the skip to the back and it flips all the rubbish inside the truck.

I have wanted this set from the day it came out for no other reason than I absolutely love it.A brilliant design that functions well and has great playability.The fact that the cab is open at the top doesn’t bother me as it doesn’t rain indoors! But it’s certainly not a 2 Minifigure cab. There’s no way in which another figure, apart from the driver, can fit in!The only option is to stand the figure behind the driver but then you can’t operate the tilting back without crushing the second figure ☹️Overall, a great set!

I grew up with lego but when my 6 year old daughter said she loves lego too I was sceptical. I know there are many female lego kits but when she selected the garbage truck I was surprised.So we sat at the table back at home opened the box, followed the instructions and not long after we are done. Everything was very easy as the instructions were clear and simple. Since then she regularly plays with it and we are currently looking at new selections to purchase and can't recommend lego enough.

My 6 year old couldn't wait to get started building it. The instructions were clear and easy to follow with minimal parental help required! It's a nice size to build, with not too many parts and comes with 2 figures (male and female so should appeal to boys and girls). My son soon had it built and was soon away playing with it. It has a nice action for picking up the dumpster and emptying it into the garbage truck. Definite recommendation, kids and adults will love it. Who doesn't love Lego?

I got this set on a different website for a cheaper price but either price is fine. This set Is of course better for the little ones but I wanted it so I got it. The dumster is easy to clip on to the truck and all of the "trash" falls in easily. the truck itself rolls fine and I'm glad it comes with 2 minifigures. The only thing I don't like is that the "trash" that is supposed to go in the garbage can seems impossible to get in all at once. overall I think this Is a pretty good set.

If you're looking for something for older (8 plus) kids to keep them occupied (or quiet) for a long time, then this isn't it. This is designed to be easier and quicker to make for kids who are aged 4 years plus. My 6 year found this really easy to make without any help, simply following the instructions, and then he enjoyed playing with it. There are plenty of extras, including rubbish and two lego figures. There's a neat wheeled bin and the tipping action is pretty good.

Thought this product was great my 9 year old managed to put it together in around 20 minutes with a little help from her older brother. I think it’s good how for each part of the build you get numbered bags with a booklet in which you follow to put it together. Best to sit at a table or flat surface when putting together as some pieces are very small and if dropped could be difficult to find. Enjoyed building it so much we went out and bought some more lego.

As I work in the waste industry i was excited to start my Lego waste management collection and everywhere had sold out dr stranges house so opted for this. I’m a big fan of the older green series but happy with the product overall. The only two complaints I have is 1. There is no roof on the cab. And 2. The dumpster looks larger than ones included with other sets. I’ve added a roof using orange bricks already owned so was an easy fix. Love it

This is a great fun little gift. It made my 5-year old nephew very happy to receive this as a gift. The fact that the item has a 'tipper' function really impressed my nephew. I would happily buy this product as a gift for others and will also be looking to purchase more items from this range. Lego is a timeless classic that entertained me in my childhood 20 years ago and continues to entertain younger generations.

We absolutely loved building this rubbish truck. I think there is something so great about a vehicle that you see every day out on the roads, you can really relate to this. It comes with a dumpster and some rubbish as well. The instructions, were as usual from Lego, easy to follow, and as always, Lego spans the generations, so its a great family activity.Young, old, any gender, lego is always a winner.
