This 192 piece Lego set is one of the new introductions for 2018. The box was a little tricky to get into without wrecking it. Well hidden on the back of the box is a perforated half-moon with a finger - bottom right edge. Pressing this in gives enough leverage to open the end flap. A bit of tape to hold a flap in place (as on their bigger boxes) would have been better and easier to find.In the box are two bags labelled 1 and 2. 1 makes the truck body, 2, the wheels, suspension and ramp. The big tyres are loose in the box. There is also a book of instructions. The truck body had a a few specialised pieces I hadn’t come across before. One was used for the bonnet and the roof of the truck, another to create the appearance of wing mirrors, and the third a ‘turbo’ intake on the bonnet. The mini-figure has a wry smile and a scrape on one cheek – clearly wasn’t wearing his helmet when he should. Bag one took me about 20 minutes to assemble. The instructions are very basic, on many pages steps are just one piece at a time, or several identical pieces to be added, so inexperienced builders should have no problem with this. There are four stickers that need applying to the vehicle. I’m not a fan of stickers, and much prefer pre-printed bricks. It’s much too easy to get wrinkles and bubbles, or, even worse, not get them on quite straight, so I didn’t bother applying them.In bag two, watch out for the small cardboard container. This holds the two, quite small, elastic bands required for the suspension. Bag 2 was a similar assembly time, though a bit more fiddly. The finished truck looks good, and bounces nicely on its elastic suspension. The ramp I felt was neither here nor there, a few bits assembled into something that the wheels only just fit onto. I think the ramp and ‘flames’ are there to make it look more than it is – though my interest in Lego is the building and then displaying, rather than play. So maybe a youngster would make more from the ramp and flames than I do.Still, I like the model, it was fun to build, and it’s got enough bits to make it an interesting hour’s assembly.

This set is absolutely superb value for money, incredibly low price for a 200 piece kit. I was very surprised to find so many parts and how big the kit was after it was made. It's the perfect size kit for the age range ( 6-12 ), a 6 year old may want a little help but it's very easy kit to build and the resulting model is tough enough to be played with, and if it breaks then you learn basic repair skills too! The engineers of this kit seem to have made a very wise decision to use mostly standard kit parts and that's a huge selling point for me. The more standard parts there are in a kit the easier it is to put together in a year or two when the kit is amongst a huge box of LEGO parts, you can easily substitute other parts you might have to hand and still build the original model. It's a great little kit for a child's birthday, then let them keep it boxed until a quiet Saturday afternoon and you'll be guaranteed a bit of quiet time yourself! As is LEGO's biggest selling point once you're bored with the supplied model you can tear it down and see what you can do with it and with almost 200 starndard parts in the box there's enough parts to offer you plenty of opportunities. I've been playing with LEGO on and off for over 40 years now and it's the reason I went into computer engineering, from an early age it teaches you good organisational skills and to appreciate how the big items you see around you are simply made from smaller components. You can argue on the price of some LEGO kits but there's almost nothing negative you can say about LEGO.

This is a really fun kit – the age range is 6 -12 and while its nearly 200 pieces might be a bit of a challenge for most 6-year-olds, there is a lot of potential for play in this Monster Truck. The contents come in two separate bags which make it easier to follow the assembly instructions; it is a little complex for younger children, who will need adult help to stick with the task of putting the truck together, but it took us about an hour of relaxed work to finish it. Most of the pieces are recognizably standard Lego, so if you want to take it apart with the plan to make it again, you’ll want to ensure it is kept separate from the rest of your Lego collection. The toy truck is a good size, surprisingly big for something that came in a compact box, and it is sturdy enough to withstand the multiple deliberate accidents which seem to be the main point of playing with it. It’s a pleasingly traditional, even slightly old-fashioned toy: no batteries, light sabres or robots, just big wheels and a cheeky-looking driver. The wheels have a bouncy suspension to mimic the real thing and that adds considerably to the amusement as it flies off the supplied ramp (or, alternatively, a stack of books on the floor). The ramp is of limited use – it’s not big or steep enough to create real speed – but the truck is easy to improvise with. This makes a great rainy-day toy for a child around 8-10 years old, who could probably assemble it independently. It offers a lot of imaginative play for younger children, too.

My 7 year old grandson loves building Lego toys, so he's going to love this. The box isn't huge, but there are 192 pieces in this kit, plenty to keep him occupied for a while, and pretty easy to construct for a Lego enthusiast. It is aimed at ages 6-12 so I'm expecting him to be able to put it together by himself without any help. The pieces are up to the usual Lego standard and clip together easily and the instructions seem easy to follow. Once completed the truck measures 262 x 61 x 191 cm, so it's much bigger than you would think by looking at the box. The kit contains one Lego play figure to sit in the truck and there's a ramp to launch it from and a couple of flame models. It's not battery operated so you would need to launch it by hand, but there's as much fun in putting it together as there is in playing with it when completed, so I'm sure he will love it. I haven't given it to him yet so I can't comment on how well it performs, but it looks really good value. At under £15 it makes a very affordable birthday present.

In recent years I think the value of Lego has declined on average. I've had some impressive sets but they are expensive. This Monster Truck bucks the trend in my opinion and is very good value. It's almost an engineering marvel, with rubber-band suspension and a truck much larger than the small size of the box would suggest. It took me about an hour to build. The instructions are clear though I think it would be a challenge for the 6-12 age group, though by no means impossible. It looks great on display and I might add another to sit alongside it. I was planning to dismantle it and see how my nephews get on, but it's too nice!

This set was bought for my 4 year old son.The set is very bright and cheery. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble, with a little help from my 4 year old.The build was simple and not too long to hold little ones attention.Once built, the monster truck looks very impressive with big, rubberised wheels. He really loves the working suspension and he's already modified the set with a few additions.Overall, for the price, this is a great set.PROSEasy, straight-forward build. Under 5's may need a little help.Lots of fun play, especially the working suspension.Good price point. Its Lego, so can be modified. No CONS as yet!

This set comes with 192 pieces in 2 bags, 1 manual and a sheet of stickers. It includes 1 mini-figure. This was a fairly easy build with a mixture of traditional and Technic parts, which enable a clever suspension design which gives great 'bounces' The ramp and flaming barrels are a nice touch. As always with LEGO vehicles in general it is not easy to push this round a bend in the 'road' as the wheels do not pivot. All in all a good set and lots of fun, especially if you're a Monster Truck fan!

I am a big fan of Lego. It gets the children away form their electronic devices. It takes concentration to follow the instructions and build. It is constructive and it gives hours of fun to play with. My children have lots of Lego! This model is a Monster Truck. Relatively straightforward. It took my 8 year old about an hour to build without assistance. It has suspension which works and is rather neat. A nice looking model and he is playing with it and the ramps. Highly recommended.

My 7 year old built this in a few minutes (of peace!). It's of typical Lego high quality build, and the working suspension (that uses supplied rubber bands) gives it added appeal. The model is larger than many others in this range, due in part to the large tyres. The model was easy to construct, and looks great once built. After the peace during it's construction, my children are now squabbling over who gets to play with it - so it's certainly popular.

A fabulous Lego truck. It took a while to set it up as our fingers are not as nimble now.The set has many pieces and be careful not to mislay the rubber bands! We have had lots of fun with this and the grandchildren should enjoy it.There will be arguments to be sure as to whose turn it is to make it jump off the rampWhat great sets lego makes now.We have really enjoyed setting this up.

My son received this a gift for his 6th birthday. We were so impressed with it that we have bought it as gifts for other children. Unlike some Lego, which can come in small boxes and look rather inexpensive, this looks substantial. It's a great kit to make, and is one of the Lego sets that my children play with the most at the moment.

I bought this to build with my son while he was recovering from chickenpox and it’s been a great success. The build was satisfying and the working suspension is a really nice detail that makes the model so engaging. It’s just the right size to be whooshed around and feels fairly robust.

This isn’t a technic set but it still boasts working suspension! Great fun and introduction into technic if you / your little one likes to see how things work. Lovely bright colours and stickers. It’s called Crusher and has an easily removable top so you can take the minifig in and out.

Bought this for our son as a little gift. Wasnt expecting very much for the price but i was so wrong. The size is incrediable and it is very strong, being lauched of ramps and has stayed intact. Also the suspension on this is amazing. Another great set from LEGO.

Bought as a present for my seven year old nephew. He was delighted upon opening it, and was able to assemble it without any help, very easily. It's a good price, and also a good sized present - it doesn't look underwhelming to a young child.Would recommend it!
