This is a mid-range LEGO Junior set that would make a good starter set for kids who haven’t had LEGO before. You get three buildings, three vehicles and four characters together with a bunch of accessories so there’s enough here for self-contained play and you don’t need to already own any LEGO (or buy more) to have lots of fun with it. It’s a Junior set so the builds are slightly simplified, for example the core component of the vehicles come as a single moulded piece instead of having to be constructed from lots of smaller pieces and only need the extras like wheels and windscreens added. The moulded pieces are still compatible with regular LEGO and so can still be reimagined into othervehicles by their owners later.We recognised some of the components from other LEGO sets but this is still a worthwhile and fun set especially for car-mad kids and there’s enough here to set up their own little garage. There’s a car wash, petrol pumps and repair bay for mini-mechanics to fix their LEGO cars and trucks and the vehicles include a tow-truck in case they need to be towed in. You also get a red sports car and a petrol tanker to keep the pumps topped up and the characters include a mechanic and sport-car driver. Compared to the smaller sets this one might seem pricey but you get a more complete range of elements that don’t need topping-up from other sets so it’s probably worth the extra spend. It’s a good place to start for new LEGO owners but has enough unique components to be worthwhile for established builders.

This is quite a nice, and fairly quick building set that offers a good range of garage-themed imaginative play components that my nephews have enjoyed playing with. There’s nothing particularly complicated about the set, and it didn’t take the boys (a pair of Lego fiends aged 6 and 8) long at all to build the three small set pieces, and accompanying vehicles. The set offers a nice range of garage-themed pieces: a petrol pump, a car wash, and a service/repair station. These are accompanied by three vehicles - an open-topped car, a recovery lorry, and a mini petrol tanker - 4 Lego characters, and a small range of tools and garage-related paraphernalia.The boys find the combination of open-topped car and car wash hysterical.This is Lego, has the usual brand quality, and plays very nicely (with plenty of pieces for two kids to share), but for us there was no real ‘wow’ factor to this set. Perhaps because although this is a medium-priced and sized set, there's no real focal element. Because the set consists of three small structures, each with a little accompanying co-ordinating vehicle, it feels a bit more like a collection of smaller sets, that you might expect to find sold separately, rather than a medium set in its own right. This does have some positive aspects, as there are no extensive, complicated elements to overwhelm younger Lego fans, this offers a gentle introduction.

Lego have somewhat changed direction in the past years to incorporate branded stuff which has meant a lot of custom designs and pieces, and I'm not knocking that, lego needs to evolve, and the kids do really like these tie in sets - ours in particular likes the minecraft sets and has most of them.This set however is more of the traditional type with standard pieces and the traditional "cars and stuff" theming, in line with lego city which was massive a few years back and feels a bit less prominent in the lego range lately which is a shame, but hey.The set has three vehicles to build and various freestanding "buildings" which aren't buildings, but they're kind of loose frames, a car wash,a garage filling station, sort of thing.It ties in well with the lego city app on the phone.I found because there's no "big project" here it's more approachable to younger children and kids who get overwhelmed if there's too many steps.Overall I thought although it feels a bit steep in price because there's no single big build, lego do tend to price sets by the number of pieces so it's reasonable enough. Plus you get three cars which means three wheel bases, which are always popular.

Aimed at the 4+ range, this kit guides kids through 6 small models with easy to follow instructions and extra-simple construction. Far from hampering creativity, my family have found that the kits only increase childrens' confidence, as they practise techniques and unusual structures and designs which they then carry over into their own models when they're building freely. This kit contains a number of special parts like ramps, vehicle bases, windows and small baseplates, which can be re-used in many ways.The quality is excellent, as always, and I like the idea of simpler kits. One of my children soared ahead with complex models and kits well above their age, the other was less confident and hesitant to try new things,and would often get disheartened at the kits. This one gave them their confidence back, and the pieces are now in use in a greater model. A really good little boost to anyone's collection.

The vehicles and buildings are all easy-builds, as with most sets in this particular 4+ range there are some large pieces and pre-formed sections that require minimal construction. While there’s not a lot to speak of in terms of the build process the real beauty of this set comes from the play – with three vehicles and three varied buildings (mechanics pit, car wash and petrol pump) there’s a lot to do. My two daughters have always gravitated towards vehicles when it comes to Lego, so this set has been an instant favourite.Overall this is ideal for younger Lego builders who are graduating from Duplo and learning the way the instructions work, and fits nicely with the wider Lego City range.

This LEGO set is a super transition, bridging the gap between Duplo and regular LEGO. Some of the components are partially assembled, making it much easier for youngsters to construct. It also gives confidence for them to move on to the next stage, when they can build from scratch, and use their imagination.As with all LEGO/DUPLO, the instruction leaflet is clear, with easy to follow diagrams for each particular build. Our five year old had no problems working it out for himself, apart from needing a little nudge in the right direction at times. This is a very good sized set compared to smaller packs, as the child can really get involved in more aspects of a busy city garage.

This is a good Lego set - my 12 year old (who is addicted to Lego) said it was fun but much easier to build than some of the other Lego sets he has built over his years!The end result is a fun set with lots of little different parts that could be used in lots of different ways which, for younger kids will provide many more hours of fun than those who build sets for the end look (as there isn't one here really) but its still a solid Lego set!I always think Lego is expensive and at £33.88 at the time of writing I think so here too - but its Lego so it is to be expected!

What can you say? Another Lego winner, especially for the younger child who is just getting into all things cars. Take your car to the petrol station or car wash and if necessary to the repair centre. A tow truck if you break down an a petrol lorry to keep the pumps working. And what about that super red car - sadly being towed.Simple enough to build, so no frustration. I am sure dads will want to be involvewd and relive their childhood legl builds.Great as a gift at any time of the year.

This set is great for young lego fans who like playing with cars and road vehicles.The vehicles themselves are very easy to build but the buildings offer a more more fun for children who enjoy a building task. My 6 year old wasn't too confident bit managed to build the whole set himself.The set provides a nice context for vehicle-based fun, either as a standalone set or part of a wider Lego City collection.

Tested with my 3 and 5 year old grandsons (recommended for 4+). Both boys loved this set and why wouldn’t they. There is a garage, a fuel stop and a car wash with vehicles too including a pick up truck, a fuel tanker and a sports car.Easy to follow instructions.Great for imaginative play and problem solving skills.Currently on sale for about £35 - would make a great gift.Highly recommended product.

really enjoyed building this set, took me back to my childhood.it took about half an hour ( fully grown man child) and would suite small children looking to do small projects rather than one major one. easy to understand instructions as you expect from lego. Well worth the money from a much loved toy brand

Purchased this at reduced price which is always a bonus. Receive a lot of items within the box. Child was able to build it by themselves but they are used to working with Lego. Can be fun for adults to join in and give a helping hand if needed.

Great Lego set that can be purchased alone or as part of the wider city set. This says it is suitable for ages four and up, think my 7 yearOld would manage with help but nearly 4 year old would need parents to make. Either way, great toy.

My six year old son enjoyed building and playing with this. The instructions were clear and made it possible for him to look at the pictures and build it himself with a little help from me.

My Grandson was overjoyed with the garage set when he built it, brought him great delight & plays with it regularly!! Fantastic choice for him & keeping him entertained with his friends
