I typically stay away from the Architecture series, because they are usually disappointingly small and overly expensive, especially in relevance to the scale of the model. This is my third Architecture set, with the Eiffel Tower and US Capitol rounding out my current collection. SO MUCH detail went into the base of the statue, including black pieces where the openings to the viewing platforms are. At first, I thought all the pieces were added in to pad the total count and raise the price, but once it's all together, the detail is worth it. This set really shines until you get to the face and head. I personally do not like the use of the spiraled "unicorn horn" pieces for the crown spikes, and the face, as most people seem to agree, is a complete and total letdown. It really leaves something missing from the overall finished appearance, and kind of spoils the show. Again, no detail was spared in the plinth, but it looks like her face melted off. The overall engineering of the piece is second to none. There are hidden Technic elements that firmly tie the statue to the base, and the way the flowing robe and arm pieces are constructed and attached are simply ingenious. Bit of helpful advice, inside bag 5 where all the "skin" elements are, the curved pieces that have definite left and right elements are in separate inner bags, so a little care in opening the bags into separate piles will save you many minutes of double and triple checking pieces (you'll see what I mean when I get there). Overall, this is a fantastic set, is wonderfully large, but Lego should have produced an all new piece for the face element, pre-printed a face on the "home plate" piece that is provided, or given us a rotten sticker at the very, very least. The lack of the iconic face in stark contrast to the detail in the rest of the model leaves the whole thing looking unfinished.

This was a joy to build. Various parts are repetative when building up the base but this never felt tedious or dull.In spite of the fact that the majority of its 1,685 pieces are one by two plates, tiles, studs and cheese slopes, it is still a very substantial build compared to other sets within the archiceture line. The set itself has some real presence in a room and it commands attention and is a great talking point. It is a respectable representation of the real thing both propotionally and in its over all shaping. The way the lighting bounces of every angle of this set means that you can see the build in all its glory from every veiwing angle. The way the bricks seem to weave seemlessly throughout the set makes it a real pleasure to look at when displayed.Building the parts and then putting them in place was a great experience and highlighted just how incredible the archiceture line has come in the past few years. There are some great building techniques used which were surprising when you place parts into the overall set.My only con regarding this set would be the face. It is a real shame that through the entire build a lot of detail can be seen and is very well presented. Adding the blank plate to represent the face felt dissappointing and is almost a discredit to the hard work and dedication the Lego designers must have taken to bring this set to life. Thankfully all the pieces required to adjust the shape to something a little more in keeping with the rest of the build are provided as spares or by making some small adjutments to the build. The instruction manual was also very well presented and provided a wealth of historical information and did you know moments about the build that help you learn more about the Statue of Liberty itself. This was an excellent experience and added to the overall building journey.

Received the Statue of Liberty as Father’s Day gift. First off, it was a very challenging build. There are several pieces that I hadn’t seen before in any sets. There are many curved wedge pieces used in this set. One slants one way and one slants the other (mirror image). It was very cumbersome to keep picking the piece up and realizing I needed the OTHER piece. The 3D view in the instructions of these pieces still makes it difficult to distinguish between the two, so be careful. My set appeared to be missing two small pieces, which I have ordered for replacement. Both the pedestal and the statue were fun to build and I enjoyed watching them take shape. I appreciate that it is a fulfilling build right up to the end.I am disappointed that the tan pedestal bricks do not appear with the same sheen and contrast as they appear on the box. This would be the same as, say, the Empire State Building and small Big Ben set. The photos of the bricks on the box make it appear fancier than it actually is. Makes me want to dust it with graphite powder or something to accentuate the tan bricks’ nooks and crannies. The size is impressive, might even be taller than the Burj Khalifa.

First of all let me please address those who are deterred by the representation of Lady Liberty's face using the modified pentagonal tile: I believe your expectations are far too high.At this scale, I cannot fathom a way to make a face that would work. Furthermore, it seems that other reviewers were SURPRISED to find her without a face when it's clearly depicted on the box and in images on this site that her face was "missing." Enough on all that -- on to the good stuff. This build was one of the most enjoyable I've had with the Architecture series. The detailing throughout the model is beyond impressive. It seemed that with every turn of the page I found myself going, "wow, would you look at that!"I learned a myriad of new building techniques as I constructed this model and the vast number of parts offered in Sand Green is an absolute joy - though I can't imagine I'll ever take her apart! When your model is complete, take some real time and look closely at the pedestal and robes of the model compared to images of the actual statue. I'm certain you'll be as impressed and in awe of LEGO's design work as I am.

I have been anticipating this set since it was announced and I purchased it on the first day it was available. The set did not disappoint! The build was challenging but very fun with several interesting building techniques. There is some repetition on the pedestal section which is to be expected. However, the base looks excellent when finished.Lady Liberty herself looks great from all angles. The use of many smaller bricks and building techniques adds realistic texture to the model. Truly an impressive representation of an iconic symbol.Because of all the small pieces and texture, the model can be a bit fragile. Some of the pieces can fall off when handling or moving the model. This means playability of this set is limited. Of course, this is not a factor when it is used as a display piece.Using the flat plate for the face is a bit of a disappointment it would have been nice to have a print or texture instead. Overall this is a fantastic set and a great addition to the architecture line.

I love New York City and had always regretted not having purchased the original Statue of Liberty set back in 2002 when I was working there, but to be honest I think this set is better and although much smaller than the previous one it looks more accurate and also features the stone pedestal which is beautifully detailed, particularly the quoins down the corners. The use of the incised brick pattern 2x1 bricks really adds to the fine detail and clever off setting of the levels of the pedestal give it a fine profile. There's a bit of repetition, the elements are so small you quickly put them together, though they are fiddly for bigger fingers. You need to pay attention when making some of the folding fabric sections and there are a lot of left and right handed 2x1 curved sections so I'd suggest sorting them out first. One minor thing is the lack of Lady Liberty's face, but a 'dreaded sticker' in this instance would have been inappropriate. It's a lovely set and an impressive height.

I visited NYC in December 2001, because of what had just happened the Statue of Liberty was closed to visitors, this set doesn’t exactly make up for not visiting the real thing but it does remind me of the great city and the amazing people. I love the scale of this set, I thought it would be about 2/3 of the size it actually is. Lego have produced a fun build with lots of detail, that is until you get to the face. It’s a bit of an anti climax when you’ve been building a detailed set and then get to the face just to put a plain tile there. BUT it would be harsh to criticise lego for this, some people have suggested they should have printed the face, that would just look odd!The other option is to build the face, but for that to look right the set would have to be 2 or 3 times the size (which would be awesome), so they made the right choice for the size even though it looks a little odd. I think it’s a good representation of the real thing and easily my favourite architecture set

The LEGO Architecture Statue of Liberty will catch in eye in any house and it is instantly recognizable. Fans have complained about the lack of a face but I for one find it okay at this scale. The model consists of two main colors-tan and sand green, with some red, yellow, blue, and black used on the inside. Every detail on this model is absolutely, one-hundred percent accurate. Having visited the actual thing in New York City, I can tell you that the model has every detail captured perfectly. My favorite is layer of detail is the balcony level of the pedestal. For your money, the price-per-piece ratio is good however there are many small pieces as one can expect in an architecture set.The green 2x1 curved slopes are very numerous in the set and, take it from me, pay very careful attention to the one the instructions are asking you to place as I neared the end I had the wrong type left and I had to backtrack and I eventually found my error but just pay attention.

The Statue of Liberty set is definitely a great addition to the architecture theme and adds to any collection. The build was great and was one that my younger sister jumped straight in to help build. Although the finished product looks great I can’t help but feel that the face of lady liberty is abit plain by just being a flat plate, there is definitely more Lego could have added. There were a few tedious points like connecting lady liberty to the technic brick in the base and the pedastool felt repetitive at times, but the finished look by all means makes it worth it. Build time was abit longer for me as I separate all the bits out as I open a bag but could easily be done in 2 - 2 1/2 hours.Worth the price tag and worth investing in a light kit for the piece. I have added the lightailing light set for the piece and it really lifts the overall design even further.

As Architecture sets go this one really is a true testament to how far the theme has come in recent years. The details on this beautiful set are absolutely incredible! And the size of the structure is decent too. Also some of the techniques used to construct the set are very very impressive, there's alot of repitition building in the plinth section but that is to be expected given the source material. And the inclusion of so many new pieces in sand green is going to be a huge bonus to many MOC Fans out there. I applaud the design crew who worked on this beautiful work of art. My advice to anybody that is going to build this is simply to take your time,as when you are constructing lady liberty it is easy to lose track and make a small mistake here and there.. don't rush the build just do it at your leisure and enjoy it. Nice one Lego.. you've done it again

My husband & son brought me this as a Christmas gift, having spent many years helping my son amass a rather large Lego collection it was lovely to get a set of my own! A repetitive build in parts to build the base but easy to follow and finish look is brilliant. Took concentration to ensure using correct pieces when building the lady Liberty as the angles in some instruction pictures were a little tricky for a novice builder but just meant looking twice rather than rushing. On completion I followed a YouTube video to recreate a face for the statue as like many it was disappointing not to have features on this part so hoping this might be an update Lego themselves may bring out to keep it more in scale with the model.A fantastic addition to display in our home and definitely recommend to any New York lovers out there

At first I was a little disappointed to see the Statue of Liberty being made into a set again, since she’s been represented in sets before, but the unique details of this one make it stand out and love it as much as the original set from the early 2000s. Though small, the details are great, especially in the flow of the statue’s clothes and the stone look of the pedestal. It is easy to make mistakes on this set, since there are so many little pieces, especially when working in the statue portion, but it’s worth it. She looks great beside the original and holds her own with the smooth look and use of the pedestal.

I've been to the Statue a Liberty a few years ago. It was really something then, This set was added to my Architecture section. Overall, the repetition is mainly to the plinth section. There is very minimal, if any repetition on the statue build. Be careful on those little small green pieces on part of the body, as I can see why it can be tricky to mess it up. I was impressed with the height and size, a little bit bigger than I expected. The face could've been a little better, but it's not really bothersome if you don't think about it and from a distance, not really noticeable. Overall, a great set.

I was really impressed with how sturdy the base was when it was completed. The actual statue itself requires a lot of patience and concentration. Even though I swear I was putting all the right parts in the right places, I didn't have enough to finish the statue at the end, so I'm waiting for more pieces so I can add the final finishing touches. Like many other reviewers, I am somewhat disappointed in the face...it's kind of like an old "Three Stooges" movie that comes abruptly to an end and you find yourself asking out loud, "what happened"??? Anyway, it looks pretty impressive!

I was wondering when I bought it if it's genuine. Once built which took me around 4.5-5 hours and I am an adult suddenly got into lego. The finished product looks as beautiful as the photos. It came sealed and is genuine lego. There were no missing parts. They give extra parts for some areas not a lot though. It had same numbered bag two of each with mini bags in themIt arrived on time and I enjoyed building it.The base takes ages but once it's complete it's a smooth sail from there. The instruction book has lots of facts about the real statue of liberty
