I've built several of the Architecture sets and by far, this is my favourite set. First of all, there is no play value as it's meant to be built, displayed and swooned over. As a display model, it's gorgeous with the subtle curves and sculpting of the two taller towers. I also love the variety in the choices in style of architecture. Unlike the London set which had a mishmash of different scales, these representations have similar scales, as much as is possible at microscale, resulting in a much more pleasing display. From the perspective of construction, it's not overly hard for experienced builders, but there is a great variety of SNOT techniques and I learned a lot of new ways of building. The final tower is so satisfying to complete, with such an elegant an ingenious solution. Finally, there is a real plethora of new parts and parts in new colours. It's a great set, even simply as a parts pack. Hats off to the Lego designers, you've hit a real home run!!

This is a good kit, it has some excellent innovative building techniques and some new and exclusive bricks, I think it even has some illegal build parts thrown in too.The build took a couple of hours to complete, I don't sort my parts I just dump them in the box and treat it a bit like a puzzle.I have knocked 1 star off because it is excessively priced in comparison to equivalent sized kits within the same range, similar skyline kits have been £20 less than this , this is a worrying trend as many consider the architecture kits to be poor value for money to start with. It's a nice kit, has the usual high quality box and manual which is filled with facts and details about the city and its buildings, the instructions are clear and expect a reasonable level of competence .

Big fan of the lego architecture series due to the real innovative approach to crafting such realistic looking buildings and shanghai does not disappoint. Each building has something unique about the construction whith the three big models really hitting the mark. Takes about 2-3 hours to construct at a leisurely pace andthe finished model looks great as a display piece. At £50 it's not cheap on a cost-per-block basis but decent value for the AFOLS considering the design. Probably best to stick with the Ninjago for the kids.Pros:- Innovative block usage- Fun and intriguing build processes- Looks great as display piece once built- Good building realismCons:- Maybe slightly high price- Would havebeen cool to have the mag-lev in there

The only 2 suggestions for improvement I have is to include the Jin Mao Tower (one of the original landmarks in Pudong) plus more detailed Chenghuang Miao Temple, Longhua Temple and Pagoda. I am less concerned about keeping to scale, than having more details of these beautiful structures. Perhaps Lego can release an updated version taking my suggestions into account. On the same note, I'd also like to recommend Lego create a new set depicting Xin Tian Di (plenty of structures there).

I bought this for myself, aged 65, whilst it was on sale at a massive discount. Would I pay the full price? No. Is it good to look at and an interesting assembly job? Yes. There are a massive number of pieces to sort and assemble and the instructions are basically graphical.Tou need to study the pictures and the pieces closely in order to get it right. Every budding scientist needs to be able to step through procedures and this is a funway of honing those skills

This skyline model simply is head and shoulders above the rest. Very innovative use of bricks especially on the Shanghai Tower (twisting building) and the Oriental Pearl Tower (the middle one with two globes). How did they come up with the twist?? It's a balance between getting the scale vs level of detail right but overall it looks fantastic up close and from afar. Took a while to catch one on the shelf at the store - this set is very popular.

I love the skyline sets, though I do wish they were bigger! The finished product is really pretty. My bags were not numbered though - not sure if anyone else had that experience or whether it was a factory error in my box. I also had a few pieces missing. I had left over pieces from other sets that I was able to use an improvise, but didn't love the bags not being numbered.

It was a great set! The building that were chosen for it were, in my opinion, they were iconic and definitely magnificent. The building techniques for the building were decent. Although I found that the back of the World Financial Center's back could have been done better. If looking for a recommendation, get it you would regret it!

On the creative side my 12-year old thoroughly enjoys building Lego, let alone the architecture line which is growing on him and this set had no major issues with instructions. However, I’m not quite sure about the value for money in conjunction of the microscopic size and the end build feeling as these sets seem to be quite wobbly.

I liked the build on this, especially the twisting of the tower. Lots of new bricks to me.I would change one thing. On the "blue" building I was a little disappointed on the back side as it does not have a finished look to it. I am hoping to find some smooth bricks to have a more finished look like the front of the building.

Building this set has awaken so many memories from my time living in Shanghai (5 years). The buildings are well proportionate and very detailed and well designed! The price for this set is great and worth all the money. Can't wait to see what Lego has to offer in their new skyline sets. Perhaps something from Sweden?

I have long awaited a kind of asian skyline with soaring, complicated, detailed skyscrapers and intricate heritage. I think the vale for money is very good and it makes an excellent display model. The building techniques are new and clever and overall I think this is a brilliant set. :D

Lego did a good job here for my hometown. I will proudly display it on my office desk. The building experience was very interesting, especially how the shanghai tower was twisted. The one negative is that Jin Mao Tower is not included. Overall job well done, Lego.

I purchased this Lego set to remind me of a recent visit to Shanghai. A bit pricey, but contained the expected high quality Lego moulded components. When completed it becomes a great impression of the Shaghai waterfront and looks impressive in my cabinet.

This set is absolutely huge and at the time of me getting it I believe the largest skyline set however it has I think been replaced by the Dubai skyline. Live the sets overall build the tallest building could use some reinforcement though
