This is definitely a case of when NOT to follow your instincts. The item looks like nothing on earth - it seems to be made of somewhat flimsy plastic and my first thought was 'How the hell can you open a bottle with this?'. However, it is the easiest corkscrew I've ever used and is ideal for anyone elderly or suffering with arthritis.It’s based on the continual screwing mechanism which was developed in ancient Babylon – I can’t for the life of me remember who invented it and if I could it would a bit more useful as it’s a name everyone recognises – anyway, you place the entire plastic frame over the bottleneck to grip it and start screwing into the cork. It screws down as far as necessary then screws back up again on its own,

This is easy to use!! You just pop it on the top of the bottle and then turn the handle and keep turning and up pops the cork. Easy for people with grip problems such as arthritis or drunkeness!Only 2 problems: The plastic version looks a liitle flimsy for frequent use and the screw drills all the way through to the bottom of the cork so you can get bits in your wine!Fix these problems and youre onto a winner with 5 stars, Screwpull!!

We have tried numerous 'gadget' corkscrews over the years that all claim to make an easy job of removing corks from bottles. None have managed it! We got a screwpull corkscrew as a christmas present and have found it very easy to use and works every time with no effort. I highly recommend this item and would say it is excellent value for money (mainly because you will never need to buy another corkscrew again!).

Bought for a friend. I have one of these and think it's great. Foil cutter works a treat and the top just comes off. Probably goes against a true wine lovers idea of opening a bottle having the screw goe all the way through - but so easy to use, you can't go wrong! Never failed yet!
