The quality of this WMF funnel and filter is very good indeed - it looks and feels utterly reliable. Interestingly, it is almost identical to the Epicureanist Aerating Funnel set sold on Amazon.com, but that unit has a brushed finish inside the bowl of the funnel, and only six rather than eight holes in the stem. The extra couple of holes in the WMF make for a more impressive display as the wine passes through and out onto the sides of the decanter, though I wouldn't want to argue over whether the extra holes alter the taste of the wine!What strikes me as the chief difference between these two products is the quite simple and elegant chrome-finished stand provided with the Epicureanist.

This is an exscellent wine funnel. We looked for a silver one but the price of anything old is quite ridiculous considering what went in to making them. This stainless steel one is good value. It had only one problem for us: the glass decanter we use has a smooth lip which made a very close fit with the bowl of the funnel, so much so that it created an air lock and the wine would not flow. The solution was a small plastic ring, part of the pull from a drink container. We put a nick in the side of this plastic ring so there was an open section, then slipped it over the down pipe so that it fitted snugly to the bowl. That introduced enough air to prevent an air lock - and it has worked perfectly ever since.

The design is very elegant and simple. It gives the wine a really good aeration as you use it to fill your decanter....or glass. It opens up the wine beautifully and saves you waiting 30 minutes+ for the wine to show its true qualities.I absolutely love this wine accessory.Constructive criticism? The only small detail that could be improved is that the wine funnel spout is slightly too wide to fit in the neck of a bottle, so those of us who like to decant wine back into the original bottle will need to decant into a decanter first and use another wine funnel to pour the wine into the bottle.Having said that, its not a major problem and everything else about this funnel/aerator is absolutely perfect !

There is little more satisfying on this earth than watching a correctly sized jet of wine hitting the side of one's decanter. It fits snugly in the neck of my decanter, but doesn't block the flow of air. How? I'm not quite sure, it isn't of a great deal of consequence. I recommend you buy this. How many of these do you buy in a life time? Might as well get it right.

This product was a stocking filler for a decanter I bought my sister. It's absolutely lovely and ideal for red wine drinkers who don't have time to let the bottle breath as you can pour through into your glass it breaths the wine for you and you can just bash on and enjoy x

Brilliant,brilliant, brilliantCombination of the sieve that can keep the cork and sediment away and the aerator which apart from its natural funciton looks cool.And it looks great.I have bought 5 different types of these over the years and this wins hands down.

Love watching the wine run down the inside of the decanter in an even film.In terms of surface area exposed, it must be doing about the best possible job.I've tried doing taste tests but, hic, glug, I forget..

I just LOVE this gadget! I can now bore people by making them watch the spectacle that decanting has become. And they all react the same way - Wow, look at that! At least,they do the first time...

As with all wmf stuff the quality is very good. Does the job and looks cool when the wine pours out the holes. A bit pricey but as a friend of mine once said, "buy right, buy once".
