I know there is a lot of debate abound concerning this product, and a lot of negative comments too. Before purchasing it I read arguments on both sides of the fence and then decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway. For my usage it's a well-made, effective and reasonably-priced solution to my problem which is that I prefer to buy full-size (not half-size) bottles. What you get from this product will vary depending on what you drink and how you drink it. I only drink red Bordeaux so my experience using this product relates only to that consumable. However, no matter what kind or what shade of wine you drink you need to realise the varied laws of science that are at play here insofar as withwine you are essentially dealing with an organic product that will rapidly deteriorate if exposed to oxidation, therefore, any wine which is opened should be drunk soon thereafter. All this product will do is give you a little bit of grace, it will not miraculously preserve your wine or reverse its degeneration. My own personal using style is based upon enjoying the taste and flavour of quality wines and not on consuming quantities. I therefore tend to drink half a bottle one one day and half on the next. If possible I also combine the opening of a bottle with the making of pasta and so I can use some in my sauce too. I also tend to put the bottle in my refrigerator between drinkings. If you approach opening and consuming a bottle in that manner I think you will find no noticeable deterioration in the quality and enjoyment of your wine. Certainly I have not.

A very useful gadget to keep your wine fresh.Admittedly, it's very rare that a bottle in my house isn't finished in one, but on the occasions that they are not, and for cooking wine, this works well.It comes with one stopper, which is equally suitable for either a cork or screw top bottle. You can buy the stoppers separately if you require more. The process is very simple. Tightly place the stopper into the top of the bottle. I find that if you moisten the stopper a little, you get a better seal. Then place the pump on top, and start to pump. After 5-15 pumps, depending on how much wine you have remaining, you will hear a click to tell you that the vacuum has been achieved. It works very well in practice.I've been using it on a bottle of Sake that I use for cooking. It's really made a difference and means I can now use the whole bottle, whereas before, I would invariably end up throwing some away as it had gone 'off'.You cannot use it on sparkling wine, as pumping air out, is the exact opposite of what you want. You can buy special sparkling wine stoppers that will help to keep the air in.Overall, this is a very reasonably priced kitchen gadget that actually works and is genuinely useful.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

We drink 9 bottles of white wine to 1 of red - and can get through a bottle a day! Some 10 years back (possibly more) I stocked up with VacuVin plastic pumps and stoppers and cooling sleeves, which are essential to enjoying white wine at the correct temperature, and preserving part used bottles. Pumped out bottles will last a month or more in the fridge (in our holiday home!)I decided I would replace some aged gear and went into the web to find it. It seems Le Creuset have now coloured the market, gone upmarket and no longer can you get plastic sleeves and plastic pumps. The sleeves are deluxe versions at approaching £20 and so are their finely sculptured pumps!Suffice to say that you were able to supply the pump and stopper(a struggle to find it!)but, alas, the plastic sleeve was beyond even Amazon - but thanks to John Lewis I was able to restock on the traditional plastic sleeves for just under £6.A gap in the market??

So simple to use. Pop the 'cork part' in - it fits fairly tightly- then attach pump. By attach I don't mean any technical clip method or levers used, just rest it over the 'cork part' and start pumping similar to a bicycle pump but easier to fit!How do you then know it's created the correct vacuum..easy it tells you with a gentle click..Easy Peasy. With a vacuum created I see no reason that this will not maintain the taste of your wine for a few days, other reviews have stated it will last longer than days but as I've not had this long enough to confirm this you may have to take the advice of other reviewers on this. For me it gets 5 stars for it's simplicity and ease of use.

For years I've enjoyed a glass of wine daily. Actually I should say for years I enjoyed a glass of wine the first night I opened the bottle, and less each subsequent evening so that by the third evening it really didn't taste good and by the time I got to last glass in the bottle it was tasting pretty nasty. But after finding one of these at BevMo in California, every glass of wine I drink tastes like it's from a newly opened bottle! It's like magic! If you're buying this as a gift, I'd suggest purchasing an extra rubber stopper as it's nice to have one for red and one for white. These even work in champagne bottles!!!

Does exactly what it says - I have been after one of these for a while since I rarely finish a whole bottle of wine in a single night, and having remembered my parents owning a similar device back in the 90s this became a little bit of an impulse buy. Wasn't disappointed - very easy to use and kept my wine tasting great 3 days after opening. Solid investment for anyone who doesn't want to drink a whole bottle in one sitting but can't quite justify the cost of a Coravin system!

This is the third or fourth time we buy te same product/brand. Unfortunately it needs to be replaced every couple of years which we believe to be a fair life span for the product, we do use it heavily at home as the wine consumption is high :-) and we tend to pump the same bottle 3 to 4 times as we keep it inside the small wine fridge. So I’m sure we worn it off faster than others. Nonetheless we tried other brands and returned to this as it’s by far the best we’ve tried.

The best one I have had, and I've had a couple of inefficient ones. With the stopper fully in the bottle, using a couple of forceful twists, the pump is very efficient, taking about 10 pumps until a distinct "click" is heard to complete the process. However I tend to give it a few extra strokes resulting in a "click" at every one; especially if I'm going to wait 2 nights before finishing a bottle (never more than 2 nights though). A good buy.

I already had one of these - invaluable if you want to drink some today, finish the bottle tomorrow or next week. The 'click' action when you have got the right level of vacuum is better than an alternative model I've encountered. As purchased it came with only one stopper, but I had some extras already. If you want to keep a bottle of red and a bottle of white on the go, pay a little extra o get two stoppers.

As someone who appreciates wine but is not a big drinker, this is such a god-send. By taking out the air from inside the bottle, it keeps the wine well for a lot longer than otherwise. As I like fairly expensive wine, being the only wine drinker in the household, this little tool has allowed me to pop open a nice bottle of wine for myself guilt-free, knowing I’m not wasting 80% of the bottle!

Had one of these for years. Useful for the second or third bottle where the missus passes out before finishing the last drop.Keeps wine fresh till breakfast, every time.On the other hand, I've had my occasional barely-touched tipple keep perfectly drinkable for over a week.;PA quick trip round the washing-up bowl and the components are good as new. Excellent piece of kit.

Bought as replacement for an older one that had slightly discoloured. Works well but as the first one I’ve owned which has the click to let you know when you’ve pumped enough I was surprised how soon the click happens. I used to pump my old one until fair resistance was felt. Maybe I was over pumping but it has made me wonder if the new clicking version clicks a bit too soon?

This bit of kit is great. It'll help keep an opened bottle of wine fresh for much longer than any other sealing device I have used. There's the added benefit that the bottles can be put back on their side once sealed with the pump and stopper, so no need to worry about bottles leaking all over your floor or the inside of your fridge.All-in-all, an invaluable piece of kit.

I have used a Vacuvin Vacuum stopper for quite a few years now and bought this one recently for a Christmas present. They are by far the best wine stopper i have ever used, preserving wine for a least a good 3 days, keeping it fresh and tasting like the day it was opened which is great if only one of you is drinking the bottle of wine. Highly recommend.

The theory here is that by creating a vacuum a part-used bottle of wine will keep longer. We have been using this system for a long time. I am still not sure whether the vacuum thingy really has this effect but we use it all the time rather than have messy old corks or tin screw caps floating around. Buy it again? Yes this was a repeat purchase.
