The name Georg Jensen is a magic one in collector's circles particularly the early pieces which were classic examples of Art Noveau design. The bad news here is that unlike the early works these are not silver and, perhaps more disappointingly, not made in Denmark. If you can live with those caveats then what you do still have is two really outstanding pieces of modern design the brainchild of a trained architect Peter Sandell whose training is revealed in the solidity and form on show here. There are no straight lines on view here-these are organic forms influenced by nature and providing a direct link back to the designs for which this house were famous. The materials used are polished steel and silicone. The smart and simple gift box is embossed with the Georg Jensen name and inside is a quality cushioned liner with slots for the pieces. Note neither piece is suitable for the dishwasher. The stopper offers a really tight fit on a standard 700 ml wine bottle and allows you feel confident about putting it in the fridge. The pourer is the cleverer piece of kit with the Oxi Pour system offering a slow, meandering flow which aerates the liquid as it goes. The wine buff will know of course that such aeration can really help the process of flavour release on both nose and palette, something I discovered on using it on a fine Margaret River Chardonnay where the tropical fruit and very light oaking were more easily discernible when using the pourer. The better the wine the more useful this device is.To be honest given the price point this is really a gift set for people who love fine wine and great design for they are both greatly pleasing objects and highly functional-exactly what Jensen originally intended.

.No name is more synonymous with the history of Danish silversmith work. Then with the very talented silversmith Georg Jensen, whose work is celebrated throughout the industry. His legacy lives on through the company of talented artists and craftsmen he founded which, to this day, fashions beautiful silver and steal designs inspired by his distinctive style. Jensen’s work is heavily influenced by the art nouveau movement. His handcrafted designs have been filling homes with Nordic chic for over a century. His life’s work was an ambition of making commonplace objects that combined beauty and utility to give pleasure to their user. This Barware wine collection is stunning. This is where each piece in the assortment features his signature trademarks, of attention to detail and perfect balance so that it is simply a pleasure to use. The fashionable and modern design into prominent, bold articles for the home, taking objects we see on a commonplace basis and renovating them into works of art. This particular piece is part of a collection by Swedish architect Thomas Sandell, who is an architect by trade. The Wine Stopper & Pourer Set is both robust, excellent quality and looks extremely sophisticated. These pieces are great looking and useful contemporary pieces. They make excellent gifts for those special occasions, or you just wish to just have a piece of solid craftsmanship and Nordic style. They certainly make an interesting talking point, when having friends over. Well worthy of a full five-star rating..

I had seen and marvelled at Georg Jensen jewellery and watches but I wasn’t aware of their extensive homeware range. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to review these pieces, a truly memorable experience. They are both simply stunning. So tactile and beautiful. They would set off any dining table to perfection. This is definitely the beginning of my Georg Jensen collection. The ‘OxiPour’ function ensures the correct aeration of the wine to keep the fine nuances of aroma and flavour. For some time we have found a significant improvement to red wine when poured into a carafe first and so aerating the wine. We were thinking of getting a special decanter for formal dining but with this pourer there is no need.I will however follow the cleaning instructions to the letter, the thought of scratching the mirror finish by using anything other than a soft cloth, mild soap liquid is too much to bear. Neither pieces are dishwasher safe. This is such a classy gift for any wine drinker, an ideal wedding, birthday or Christmas gift.

Now I'm no wine guru, in fact I rarely drink it, but my misses loves the stuff, you can see this by the collection of empty bottles we put in the recycling bin each week. So upon seeing this she was happy, I was bewildered. Now I have seen these things packed up in those Xmas box sets that you get, so when I saw the price of this I was shocked. But upon reading up on the background of Jensen and seeing the quality of this I can kinda understand the price tag now.The quality is outstanding, beautiful mirror polished steel looks stunning and the overall finish is second to none. It also comes in a great display box, ideal if it's a gift. Now as for how good the pourer works, well my partner thinks it's amazing.Apparently it really brings out the flavours and adds much more character to the wine, to me well I took a sip before and didn't like it, took a sip using the pourer and still didn't like it!For the wine lover it's a god send...

This set certainly looks the part - elegantly packed in a posh presentation box branded with the iconic Georg Jensen name, all mirror-like steel and sinuous, organic curves. It really is beautiful. I'm not a great wine buff but the aeration system really does seem to bring out flavours I wouldn't normally notice. The silicone ensures a really snug fit on the stopper so you can be confident that not a drop will be wasted. This set looks every penny of the £70 (at time of writing) price tag and anyone who treasures good wine and good design will take many years of pleasure from it.That being said, the price is not trivial, and as Jensen's name is famously associated with silver,it's somewhat disappointing that this is only stainless steel. However it would make a beautiful gift for a wedding, anniversary or a special birthday and would no doubt be much appreciated by the right recipient.

This is a wine stopper and pourer. The pourer (functionally) does help aerate the wine, which is good and the stainless-steel pieces are a wonderful combination of design and function. The set come in a gift box that adds to the thought that this would make a wonderful gift. However…One cannot help the thought that it is only a pourer, the aeration is nice but there are methods which can be used, and a stopper. Beyond the fact that my wife wondered why I would ever need such a thing given a propensity to not let an open bottle of wine sit for any length of time, one wonders at the price. Similar can be bought, some well-designed, some simply functional and others novelty, for a fraction of the price of this set.Be that as it may, they do look very nice and work just as one would want.

This is a really beautiful set which would really make a very nice wedding gift. These items, with the right care, will last for years. The stylish design adds to the function to make for a practical but beautiful set.The pourer has "OxiPour" function which means that the wine is aerated correctly as it pours, enhancing flavours and aromas and making the most of your wine. The stopper has a complimentary design to the pourer and together they just look fabulous. They are weighty and the quality feels very good in the hand.Of course, you can get cheaper and equally as functional items - but you would be hard-pressed to find something as beautifully designed and special.

This is a wonderfully made and elegant pairing of wine pourer and stopper. The craftsmanship, the elegance of the lines and the polish of the steel makes it a thing of beauty.Thought has been put into the pourer too. Sommeliers recommend decanting wines to aerate them, but this pourer has channels built into the silicone to cause the aeration of the wine thus bringing out the flavours. I confess I am not a sufficient enough wine connoisseur to spot the difference--or maybe the wines I drink aren't of sufficient quality for it to make a difference! The price is the only downside, but the sheer quality of the feel of the items conveys their class.

This gift set would be perfect as a wedding present. Very expensive for what it is, but oh what amazing quality and design. The wine stopper is surprisingly weighty. It has a really nice curvature and beautiful "silver" stainless steel finish. The wine pourer has an aesthetically pleasing flayed end that sticks out the bottle. The only downside is that these items are NOT dishwasher safe. You have to be very careful, using only warm water, mild detergent, with a soft cloth or a brush with soft bristles.WHY NOT 5* ?===========Main grumble is price : it’s expensive - especially at £70 (at time of writing). Not sure wine pourer is necessary ?

This is an absolutely beautiful bar set. The stainless steel has a mirror-shine finish, and the flowing shaping to the design is elegant, understated, and would complement virtually any decor scheme. Not only is this set beautiful, it's functionally useful - aerating and preserving an open bottle of wine. The silicone sections fit snugly into a bottle or decanter. The set arrives presented in a lovely gift/storage box - and would make an impressive gift. Not dishwashable - or at least not if you want to preserve the finish - but it's a small task to wash these by hand, dry with a soft cloth, and return them to the box.

Supplied in a presentation box this make a great gift for a wine lover. Extremely well made and weighty you cannot go wrong assuming you are willing to pay the high price which is the only reason to knock 1 star off. To some extent you are paying for a known name brand although this would fall into a more mass produced commercial category rather than limited edition silver items. That said it does indeed look elegant and would be noticed if you were using them on the table of a dinner party. Very tasteful and the aerating function should have that effect on the wine too.

7.8.2017

This set is a thing of beauty! It also functions very well - the OxiPour function which ensures aeration as you pou and the stopper is snug and will fit a variety of bottles (although I do tend to buy more crew top these days). It is priced as a premium product and the presentation box is simple but certainly fits with that. I can see that these will mostly be purchaed as gifts (who could justify the price otherwise), and are well suited to that. Lovely to look at and great to use = winner.

Fabulous table adornment for special occasions. Georg Jensen is a master craftsman, producing a range of iconic Scandinavian stainless steel tableware, decorations, and jewellery. This wine stopper and wine pourer continue that fine tradition and are a great accompaniment for a celebration dinner party or as a gift for that wine loving friend or relative, who is difficult to buy for. Classy would be an understatement - beautifully designed and crafted. Well worth the asking price.

8.8.2017

Top of the range aerating pouring spout and stopper by a well known "name" in Scandinavian design terms. This is a robust and beautifully made and presented special item. There are other very similar designs that would do the same at half the cost but none would look or feel as good or exude that feeling of quality. If all you want is a stopper and pouring spout get a different cheaper example, but if you want a example of sheer elegance and quality this is the one for you.

10.8.2017

Made of stainless steel and silicone/plastic, these two bar accessories come in a nice, sizeable presentation box. At this kind of price the set is really a "prestige" item: for wine connoisseurs, or a great gift for a wine connoisseur. Though no silver is involved, it has the name of Denmark's famous silversmith attached. The stopper and pourer feel nice and solid. The pourer acts as an aerator. They should last for ages. Neither of them are dishwasher-safe.
