I suffer with arthritis in my hands and fingers so opening cans Etc. is painful with a standard can opener.I have tried Kuhn Rikon can openers in the past and am pleased with the quality and performance .This can opener is made to the same high quality as you expect, it takes a little while to adjust attaching to the can but after a few attempts it becomes easier, the ratchet system works well and the can opens with no sharp edges, just one minor gripe .While holding the handle your hand is partially stopping full movement of the ratchet system, as I said this is a minor moan.Overall I do recommend giving this try if you do have hand grip problems

Wow this is weird but it works! If you get one of these it will take some getting used to but once you do it is a very good can opener. Unlike every other I've used this one does not leave razor sharp edges on either the can or the lid. Opening a can is effortless, this device just does it for you. I'm hoping it will outlive all the others I've used which seem to become almost useless after a few months.If you are prepared for a small learning curve then go ahead and buy one because it really is so easy to use and it definately won't leave you with sore fingers!

I have used all kinds of can openers since the 1960's when we had the spike type through to modern ones guaranteed to open any can but don't. The first thing I did was test it on a well known brand of tinned pie (see photo) known to defeat many can openers. It opened it with ease leaving safe rounded edges. As my hands have less strength I find the ratchet leaver makes opening the can so much easier on my joints. It takes a few attempts to learn how to line it up but there is a little arrow on the can opener to help.

I already had a 5 in 1 Kuhn Rikon can opener but thought this might be easier to use. It is, but only when you get used to it, a bit of a fiddle to get it to latch on to the tin and also the ratchet handle (which has a knob on the end) doesn't need to be moved from the beginning to end, just back and fore. Once you get used to it it's a doddle, takes the lids off easily and quickly although the pincers that grips the lid is not as easy as the original can opener. All in all a good buy.

I love this tin opener. It's a bit fiddly to get attached sometimes but its so easy to operate and there's no sharp edges when it's been opened. For someone with limited hand strength its ideal. It takes no effort to clamp on and move the handle back and forth to open the can. The teeth to grasp the lid once its been opened could do with being a little more prominent but work extremely well. In short the best time opener i've ever owned and It feels like it will last a lifetime.

I have struggled all my life with tin openers, I am left handed and until now never found one easy to use. At 56 years old I have found the perfect solution in the Kuhn Rikon 2-1 Ratchet safety LidLifter.It has a real feeling of quality about it. It grips easily and doesnt let go until its finished. The ratchet is very comfortable to use (gentle on the arthritis) and I love the way it leaves the lid smooth and safe once removed.Cant recommend it enough!

Having experienced problems opening different types of cans - from using electric can openers to traditional ones and having sharp edges or ragged cuts - it was intriguing to see this ratchet type opener for sale. Having purchased it and used it, it did all it claimed to do. Both the tin and the lid had swaged edges - nothing to cut your fingers on! My wife, who has severe arthritus, even managed to use it!

It is very sturdy and looks like it will last a long time - we will see. Bought for my 90 year old mother who's fingers are now very weak. She loves it and has found it to be so useful as she hasn't the strength in her hands to use the usual twist type can openers. Bought alongside the adjustable Kuhn Rikon can/top opener. Both well recommended.

A unique way of opening a can that I've not seen before (ratchet). Its so easy, no more having to turn with your fingers like with a normal can opener. Leaves no sharp bits and no food comes in contact with the can opener. When you normally get food on a can opener blade, you wash it off which causes rust. Not with this one.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little wary of how easy this would be to use. It’s made a huge difference for us. Tins opened quickly and no sharp edges. I like the little extras on it too the ring pull and the little bit on the side to lift the tin lid is great too. It feels very robust and worth every penny.

Had purchased an older model a few years back and the handle broke on it. The newer model seems to have a stronger holding arm. As far as can openers go this is a Cadillac of them all. It opens with ease and leaves no sharp edges... (good bye the days of ripped garbage bags...) love it so much recomended to everyone.

Excellent can opener, the best I have ever had, so much easier to use than any others. Really good for people who have a problem turning on the traditional can openers. Would definitely recommend this product, I am delighted with it. Well worth the money.

It opens tins in a quick and smooth fashion. When I first bought this item I giddily opened as many tins as possible. My wife was unhappy that we were forced to eat baked beans every day for a fortnight and I also got banned from Tesco.

excellent product so easy and no Sharpe edges. Was so pleased brought a further two for each set of parents who have dexterity problems. thinking of buying the ratchet salt and pepper for them also.ok

I'm a lefty and have always struggled with scissors, can openers, and life in general. This ratcheted beast fills me with joy. Also helps my mum who suffers from arthritic joints. Buy one NOWWWWWW
