Wasn't sure how useful or practical this would be when I bought it but I now wouldn't be without it! No more grated finger nails! I have arthritis in my fingers but find I can easily separate the pieces for wishing, etc. I find it very easy to use for grating chees, particularly the harder cheeses like Parmesan. This is one of the most useful gadgets I've bought recently and would highly recommend it. It's not the cheapest cheese grater on the market but it is good quality and does an excellent job!

It works and unlike other reviews, I haven’t had any problems opening it. I haven’t cleaned it yet as I have left chocolate in the grater. I have found that if I give it a tap after grating, anything loose in the barrel falls out and if I place it in the fridge upside down with the handle folded down it is OK. A cover to stop the small bits would be an advantage though so perhaps Kuhn Rikon could take note. I purchased another one for cheese and I do stretch a silicone over that one.

It simply separates the grater from the fingers. It also grates all the cheese - or anything else you want to put into it.Loading up is not difficult and once that's done the grater is ready to go whenever more is needed.Movement of the grater lever is so easy - and safe. It is well worth the price to avoid damage to fingers caused by the exposed grater wheel. So far this has hugely exceeded our expectations.

Bought this as a birthday present for "the guy who has everything", and half a year later he still says "it's the best birthday present ever" every time he uses it, which is basically every day. I've never seen anyone load their pasta with as much cheese as he does, because now he can! There's been no sign of wear and tear yet, nothing's got stuck, and it just seems to be a very solid product.

It is perfect! We use it all the time. It is super say to get the cheese out for pasta my son does it by himself. My hubby is a bit rough and we though the first time he broke it, it does not handle the hard skin of the cheese (it just gets stuck) —that part you would not eat anyway! Well it is quite well done but it is plastic so I imagine if you really force it it would break.

I have a slight difficulty holding it in one hand and rockig the lever with the other.SWMBO doesn't have any problem.The catches that hold the container that presses the cheese against the grater are too stiff.But, it does the job and is less messy than using a grater at the table.

Not easy to open to use and clean but it may be because it's new.... I do hope so. Kuhn Rikon are a brilliant company whose products are normally the best of their type and always do the job they were intended to do far better than anyone else's. Fabulous once you've loaded it.

Very pleased with this. Given it 5 stars as it does exactly what it says on the box. I have used it with different types of cheese and found it easy to use and easy to clean. Haven't tried it with chocolate yet.Arrived on time in secure packaging.

I have been trying to work out a solution for grating chocolate for a while now as it always ends up melting. I stumbled across this and noticed some recommendations so decided to take the plunge...Fantastic gadget, worth every penny!

It's easy to use and clean. It grates big ammounts of cheese fast avoiding messes. I've had it for more than 2 years now and it's one of the best kitchen stuff I ever tried.

Saw this on a well known shopping channel but it was much cheaper from amazon. Brilliant piece of kit but wouldn't expect anything else from Kuhn rikon.

I used this again this morning to grate Parmesan and chocolate into jars so it is ready for Christmas. Very useful and grates so finely

Ratchet action is good, very easy to use and clean although I would have preferred it if you were able to remove the grater.

Perfect for sandwich topping, pizza, I just filled up it is so helpfull & you need clean it just keep it in the fridge
