This is a quality product that feels very solid and sturdy. I have only felt like I needed to use it once (parking on the street in the Mission District of San Francisco) and I was really glad I had it. Because I rarely use it, I am glad it has the reminder cable that I can run up to my clutch so I don't try to ride off with it on....it would obviously be a short trip if I did.The pouch isn't really necessary unless the intent is to store the lock and the cable both in it. The lock fits perfectly but it is a little difficult to get the cable to fit into it as well. It's too large fit in the space between the "U" portion and the lock.

This is one solid piece of machinery. Very well made, it does give one the feeling of confidence when leaving my scooter for any length of time. It is not as easy to use as the Grip-Lock, but is more strongly constructed than that unit. For short trips, I find it's a bit of a bother to put on and take off, but for any longer stop, I use it.Requires reasonable dexterity to put it on and off my scooter. Fitting it into the holes in the disk brake can be a problem and I have to wiggle it around to position it so it can be locked up. This fiddling about to get it on and off, which isn't that easy, is the only reason for giving this Series 4 lock a 4 star, rather than 5 star rating.On the positive side,

I currently live in a city in Michigan that has some of the highest crime rates of theft and break-in in the state. I'm renting in a trailer park community so I don't have a garage for now. I bought this to help me sleep at night or when I have to use my vehicle to transport instead. This is a high quality lock. Although it wont prevent a theft 100% its a great deterrent. I can't see anyone cutting this without a loud high powered grinder or taking the front wheel off. Comes with a key they has a blue light on it and 2 spare keys. You also have the option to register online for free and they will send you replacement keys if you lose the ones you have. I don't really use carrying case that comes with it.

I received my lock, and my first impression, geez it's big. When I went to put it thru front brake rotor, it wouldn't fit. It just barely wouldn't fit, because of my tire rim was in the way. So, because it's a nice big beefy lock, I went to plan B. I went to home depot to buy a chain to use with the lock. Same problem, it barely wouldn't fit thru chain link. So I got my knife and trimmed off a half inch of the orange cover on lock. Now it fit thru chain. I came home, and just that little trim, gave me enough room for it to fit on my brake rotor. So now I'm very happy, and would recommend this lock to everyone. One more thing, use the reminder cable. You can pull it to handle bars easily,

Super unimpressed with this lock right now. Used it for the second time and I can't unlock it. The key is stuck inside the keyhole and just spins around without unlocking my bike. I am basically stranded and unavailable to use my bike. What an incredible headache.Tried calling customer service. Put on hold for 20 minutes and then forced to leave a voicemail message.Very unimpressed.UPDATE:Kryptonite sent me a new lock and reimbursed me for the cost of hiring a locksmith to remove the one that broke. Still not impressed that that happened, but happy with the customer service. My replacement lock has served me well thus far.

This Lock is a bit larger than it looks in the picture which I'm happy with. I'm able to route the U bracket through my front brake caliper and rotor which prevents any rolling from the front wheel. The reminder strap is bright and hard to miss as is the lock as well. Nothing is 100% when it comes to bike security but something is better than nothing. I've ordered a second lock with a Kryptonite Chain to further secure the rear wheel from rolling. This seems like a good sturdy lock and is not vulnerable to the pen trick that older generation Kryptonite locks were. This is a good addition to a layered security approach.

My bike is worth 10k so I think it's worth to put this on when you run into the store. The lock mechanism is Rubber coated so no damage to the wheels or disc at all and the lock is smooth ,strong and feels well made as all Kryptonite products do. This has a reminder cable to put around your brake or clutch to remind you not to try to drive away with it on. It screams LOook at me ! security! In bright orange. Yes if there are two real men or 3 would be skinny thieves, which they usually are, they can pick up your bike and put it in a pickup truck, but this adds another layer of security so you can keep your bike.

Strong lock, easy to use, the little light feature on the key is something you never though you'd use, but end up using it all the time! I'm very happy with this lock, the reminder cable is a nice addition as well. This lock gives me some extra peace of mind.I usually only park my bike for a few hours at a time and check on it once in a while, I lock the steering, throw a cover over her, and lock the disc with this lock, I feel better. But of course, nothing is ever 100%. This lock won't be able to stop 2 guys from picking her up and loading her into a van. Just keep that in mind.

I use this in NJ, NYC, in my backyard, and in the garage. Been using this for 6 months now on my front tire and haven't gotten my bike stolen. Do yourself a favor, use the looped wire to remind yourself the lock is there. I messed my bike up (not that bad), when I tried to run it with the lock still in tact..I forgot I had the lock on. Have to replace the brake disc now. If you're in a place like NYC, use this in conjunction with additional locks (including heavy chain locks) for locking the rear tire and locking the frame to a sturdy metal pole like a street lamp.

Works as intended. Easy to put on disc but you tend to get dirty messing around with a disc lock. Requires key to lock it shut in place. It's heavy but can slide into your jacket pocket if not riding with a tank bag or can lock it somewhere on the bike as it's rubber coated and wont rub on things. I lock to frame of Ducati while riding. Case works for holding cable and lock. Not sure if I'd trust the clip to wear on your belt but might work just fine. I'd trust this lock over a post type that goes through disc vent holes.

Instructions shows several ways to attach to motorcycle rotor & disc brake. Completely rubber-coated u-lock. Comes with a 34" bright orange reminder cord, to attach to the lock and throttle grip. ***I only wish the key was bright orange as an additional reminder to remove lock before starting bike. Includes a free one year anti-theft warranty. Remember to register the key on the Kryptonite website for a free replacement if lost. Kryptonite rates this lock an 8 on a scale of 10 for security.

The lock is very tough and easy to use lock. I use it as a disc lock but could be used in configuration with a chain as well. The key and locking mechanism are still smooth and easy to lock and unlock. When not used it is easy to lock onto the motorbike chasis out of the way.The rubber protector on the lock is bright and prevents the bikes paintwork getting scratched which is a bonus. I've used throughout the winter on wet gritted roads and the lock is showing no signs of rust or seizing.

I did not do a lot of research, but found that this lock is pretty inexpensive for the quality of construction. It's not going to secure the bike 100%, but unwanted drivers will give it a second tought. Only downside is if you forget to remove it before rolling the bike...It comes with a shock cord (a little short) to attach to the handlebars to remind you of the lock. It's bright orange, so you should notice before driving off. Again, great product for your buck!

I have a few of these locks for different purposes - I think they are excellent. The real proof in a lock is when someone tries to break it. I don't have that experience with these, but I bought a cheap "bell" brand lock and for what was stolen when they cut right through it, I could have bought a lot of really good locks. I go cheap on a lot of things, but not locks. Cheap ones look good and solid - but not all steel is made the same.

Excellent lock. made well. The case different story. Don't know why they put a plastic clip on the back. It came in broken. But it would honestly be impossible to actually hold the weight of the lock. I don't think it would last a week if it we're holding a cell phone let alone a heavy lock. It would break off and end up causing an accident. Luckily.. it fits easily under the seat.
