And if it does not, why not? This lock is (so) heavy, (so) substantial that requires 'guns of steel' (that's biceps, by the way) to use it everyday.Truly a secure feeling lock that should ideally combined with a non-Kryptonite lock to thwart (or at least delay) those pesky bike robbers. The keys (three in total) are firm and solid (but read the instructions: "don't be hasty in twisting the key too quickly"), and the single key LED night-light is a nice touch.I cannot judge on how well the lock's frame mounting/housing works as I have a water bottle attachment in the most suitable location. The lock comes with a UK warranty (lifetime)and an option to either apply for a free key registration or a free £1000 protection for one year (if stolen you are required to submit a UK Police Crime Number, the lock, receipt for bike purchase, etc. to the manufacturer). This is may be useful for some people though a deterrent of a large Official sticker (visible on the frame) and UV permanent marking from the UK Police's free BIKE REGISTER program may be even more useful.Overall, this Kryptonite Evolution Series4 Flex Frame U-Lock is the peace of mind that I was seeking below £35.00 (at the time of purchase on Amazon.co.uk).

The lock works quite well but make sure you lubricate the insides to keep it working functionally. It develops rust inside lock mechanism after a couple weeks being exposed to intermittent rain. The main issue is not with the lock itself but the lock holder which attaches to the frame. I've owned this lock before, and they have since updated lock holder. The previous style worked perfectly for about 10months then the failed completely as the ratchet teeth slipped through the clip. The new version of the lock holder seems to avoid this problem, however it has slipped loose on me a number of times requiring me to remove it completely and reattach it.I think it's important to lubricate the latch mechanism where the lock slips into the holder since the extra force required to remove it unlubricated loosens the holder prematurely. The other issue with the lock holder are the pictures on the instruction manual showing all kinds of configurations of lock positioning, none of which work except for attachment to the top cross bar (letting the lock hang down or the back down tube, in which the lock will rotate around and with gravity. It doesn't get in the way in this position, though.

There's not much more I can say about this lock really. It is big and heavy and hopefully will keep your bike safe from thieves. That said, if a bike thief really, really wants your bike and is packing the right tools, they'll have your bike, regardless of whatever lock you put on it. The purpose of a lock like this is to hopefully make them decide that your bike looks like too much effort to steal and therefore look at another, less well protected bike instead!I'd seen a lot of negative comments about the storage mounting that is supplied with this lock, so I expected it to be useless. After reading the fitting instructions, which are dire, for about 10 minutes and scratching my head,I did a quick online search and came across a video on Kryptonite's YouTube channel that shows how to correctly fit the mounting bracket. If you follow the instructions in this video, you will be able to use the mounting without any issues.

Got two sets of them Mini-7 and Series 4. Both are brilliant nothing else to say, locking device is working very well. Somebody already tried to cut the lock!! It only has bin week. But guess what, they litterally only scratch the surface of it, probably after trying for a bit they realised that it's not the lock to cut!!Couple of thing to point out1. Small bracket which you can attach to your bike and then just hang the lock on is very cool, plastic but lightweight and sturdy enough.. at least you dont have to hang the lock in the odd places while cycling!2. There was a 3 key set and one of them came in with the light on the key, this is small but very cool feature, actually does help to open up the lock in the dark.!It's quite heavy thou, but this is the only way to protect your bike in town.... You can easily remove it and store it when cycling out!

Thought I had a problem with fit - see photo, where it just fits, and only this way. But realised the metal collar that attaches the lock to the holder ( which is also good, but of course, plastic, so how long does that last?) could be adjusted so that I could slip the lock into the holder by angling it slightly to one side. So it's done. But I should have checked the dimensions before buying, though even that's hard as how do we know, given the unknown dimensions of the holder, just how close it's gonna be?? Tricky, but the lock is well designed and I'm glad I 've got it. POSTSCRIPT. This was the same price as buying two tubular keys for a past Kryptonite, where I had lost the keys but knew the number.Crazy huh? Now hit the 'it helped you' button please.

This bike lock is very heavy and in the world of bike locks that's a good thing. Apparently it's resistant to the type of theft where they twist the bike to break the lock and judging by the thickness of the metal, I wouldn't rate anyone's chances on being able to cut the lock. The downside, and it's relatively big, is that the thing that comes with it to attach to your bike is beyond useless. No matter how well you attach it, no matter how well you tighten it, it will ALWAYS come loose. I thought the other reviewers just didn't do it right, I was wrong - it is by far the worst thing I have ever seen. I would have rather they didn't include it if it was going to be this useless!Summarise - Lock: Great.Attachment: Rubbish

I had a lot of looking through amazon to find this product. I brought it a long time ago and last 4 bikes until it was stolen. The lock is solid and great. There are occasional bad locks but majority are perfect. In over 10 years it had taken a lot of abuse. I had the old mounting bracket which is smaller, simpler and better than the current contraption that is use on one bike only.Unfortunately it was stolen last year after a thief spent two days of trying in front of CCTV. He could not break the lock not even with a cheap portable angle grinder, so he broke the wall mount and had to carry the bike away with lock still attached to the frame. The thief was desperate as the lock cost more thanthe bike!

With my bottle holder in place this lock does not fit (with the fixing provided) into the centre of my bike, but this is due to the frame of my bike, no U lock would fit....it does say in the instructions that I can fix it to the rear of the saddle over the back wheel but I don't want to do this and the lock was mainly intended for use at home.Went for a ride recently that required taking the lock and was surprised how light it was so I put in a small ruck sack and didn't notice it weight. It feels sturdy and I like the illuminated key, it comes with Kryptonite key replacement service and 1 year bike cover.....but fingers crossed I will never need it.I would recommend this product

I've read a few reviews on Amazon and there are a few which were clearly written as a result of not reading the instructions properly! - the silver mount is loose so you can position it correctly for how you carry it on your bike - it can then be locked down with the supplied Allen key. Also, I always give locks a squirt of 3 in 1 oil every few months (including all those round the house) - and something left out in the rain like a bike lock will need regular oiling or - shock- it might get sticky or cease. Common sense really - this seems like a good lock for the money, yes it's quite heavy but it's solid steel so don't want it to be lightweight and easy to cut!!

It's been a few months now and I still have my bike in London. I'd say it's done its job. Weighs an absolute ton though. Looks extremely sturdy and combined with the bright orange and brand name I think it's also a great deterrent because it doesn't look cheap and flimsy. With the bracket it only JUST fits in the frame. Unlike others I was able to attach the bracket without it ever coming loose or falling off or anything. the lock does wobble when attached to the bracket a little but a bit of noise helps stop people on their phones from stepping out in front of you.Bike cover and key replacement service are also a big plus.

Pros:Very well built strong and secure lockLifetime WarrantyDouble shackle lockVery reasonable price for a Kryptonite series 4 (gold rated) bike lockComes with 3 keys 1 being an led light key (helpful if its dark and your trying to unlock your bike)£1000 bike theft insurance (that's if you remember to register your bike and lock within 15 days of purchase)Cons:Heavy lock-but it does have a bike mount included so you can mount it on your bike when not using itThe lock is a bit fidly to open but i suppose that makes the bike lock more secureThe bike insurance only covers you if the bike lock is recovered damaged

Absolutely fabulous system to mount the U lock to the frame. Clips in and clips out of a sturdy bracket in seconds while firmly clipped in and no rattling while riding. There are endless ways to find a sweet spot on your frame that doesn't interfere with water bottles and pumps that suits where you want it to be.The lock itself feels bombproof and definitely has the impression of making it not worth the thief's effort to choose your bike to steal. Keys work every time.Would definitely recommend this range of products at whatever security rating you feel you need for where you leave your bike.

Pros:* Very robust (and heavy) lock* £1,000 bike insurance provided for one year (if lock is registered within 15 days of purchase)* Lifetime warranty* Seems to be a very reasonable price for a "gold" rated lockCons:* Very heavy* No soft coating/soft plastic, so could damage frame* Lock is a bit fiddly to open (but it could be part of the protection)* Bike insurance is only provided if the lock is recovered and damaged (so no insurance if they leave with the bike and lock)* US and Canadian customers can extend the insurance for only $15 per year. Not available to UK customers

A good sturdy lock that I feel confident in, as others have said it is heavy but that's what makes it feel reliable. It's very sturdy and I am confident this lock will put off opportunist thieves with a bolt cutter. My only gripe is the LED key doesn't really work, sometimes it won't turn on at all, sometimes it flashes. I appreciate this probably isn't common but to replace it I'd have to send the whole thing back and leave my bike unlocked. It's not essential but was a nice extra I was expecting so I'm disappointed it doesn't work.

Amazing lock for under £30. It is very secure when locked you cant get the shackle to rattle at all and when used correctly the bike wont move either. It is heavy but that isn't too much of a problem just be aware that the lock is bigger than the picture portrays. The key with the light on is also a nice gesture. Overall a great lock and it will leave a lot of thief unable to steal the bike at all and even professionals will have to spend alot of time getting through it.
