Recently had a gas fire / boiler service completed and was advised to pickup a carbon monoxide detector, after all you can't smell or see the danger coming. After several searches this is the main one that was recommended by the vast majority and when you search for anything to do with fire safety, the name Kidde is at the forefront, whether is alarms, detectors or extinguishers.instructions are simple and alarm is ready within a few minutes out of the box. Judging from the test button, you certainly won't miss a warning when the alarm sounds and unit has user replaceable batteries. Sensor is marked up for 10 years of use and includes a marking sticker so you can note when it has been put inplace.Only given fours stars as I can not say how well it would detect carbon monoxide in reality but based on the last service, my gas engineer wasn't lying about being monoxide free.

If like me you have never, up until recently, quite got around to buying one of these for your home I urge you to buy one asap. It can just be placed near to a gas source, no wall mounting is necessary, although you can if you wish. The alarm is extremely piercing and would leave you in no doubt that something was amiss should it 'go off'.It is far better to have one of these and never hear it go off than to not have one and to put your family at risk from an extremely dangerous and odourless gas that has left countless families grieving for lost loved ones. I'm sure in retrospect every family affected by this issue regrets not having one of these monitors in their homes.

I realise Kidde is a big name an Brand is sooo very important to these big guys, but here they seem to do what they promise. Ive had a few home safety items from these guys and they have never failed. So pay your money and you get what you expect. I got this one for the downstairs in case the boiler tries to kill us, and Im ordering another make that offer radio linked models that I can link to the house smoke alarms, so if one goes off they all go off. That'll get the kids off the X.Box even with headphones on! - I hope.Hope safety - you cant be too safe - just wish they did domestic mist sprinklers at a reasonable price.

This was purchased for a 82 year old neighbour whom had purchased same one previously. She found after a period of time unit was bleeping. She replaced batteries as she thought this would resolve problem. It did not. Asked me too look at it. Also I replaced batteries with new ones same constant bleeping ensued. Then noticed replacement date on side of unit. The unit she had lasted six months over renew date. She is very happy with this make of unit and British Gas engineer also advised it very good. The unit can be placed anywhere without being a fixed. A big plus. However please note place in vicinity of boiler.

This product along with another item turned up 2 days before the expected delivery date. Superb service from Amazon. The Carbon Monoxide Alarm does the job although the instructions weren't very clear as to how to put the batteries in. Unlike similar products where the battery compartment opens up on a hinge system I eventually found that with this Kidde product you had to slide the battery compartment cover off in the direction of the arrow. Easy once you realise this but it took me several minutes to work this out as it wasn't made clear in the instructions.

I chose this monitor because it was reasonably priced and long-lasting.My only criticism is that it was almost impossible to find somewhere to put it as the instructions were so limiting. Not by a door or window, must be so far from the boiler, can't be this distance from an adjoining wall or the ceiling etc. It could be that these instructions are the same for all alarms, or it could reflect a limitation with this alarm - I don't know. It now sits on a surface as no wall in the entire kitchen was a suitable place to fix it.Anyway, I feel safer having it.

The alarm seems very well made and is easy to use and install. It's not much bigger than a room thermostat. We have mounted it on the wall near to our gas boiler. It can be tested by one press of the button where it then sounds 2 sets of 4 beeps. There is a green LED light that flashes at intervals to let you know it's working OK. Fortunately it has never alarmed due to boiler fumes but we feel much safer now we have the detector. By the way, we have 2 of them now one near the boiler and one up stairs on the landing.

The test button says it works so it must work, if the device doesn't work on it's own accord then I guess the test button didn't work and I won't be around to tell part two of the story. My point being, don't just rely on devices alone to ensure your safety, regular check up of gas equipment is just as paramount as the use of this device itself. It is very loud and the sensor is for ten year use, longer than many other such devices. It's good (as far as I can tell)Per usual, great delivery by Amazon.

Neat and tidy looking kit, seems to work fine (not tested with Carbon Monoxide release!). Test by pressing obvious button on front.Easy to fix onto wall with 2 screws.Fill in "Use by" date sticker on side for easy future reference (has to be replaced within 10 years).Appears to satisfy legislative requirements for CO detector in residential "Let out" property.Arrived promptly & well packed. Requires 2 x "AAA" Batteries (not supplied, so don't forget to buy them as well!).

I purchased this a little while ago and set it up (very straight forward - put the batteries in and you are ready to go).One night the alarm went off. I am a deep sleeper but I heard it go off in the kitchen. A gas man came out in the middle of the night and confirmed I had a high level of carbon monoxide in my flat.I dread to think what could have happened if the alarm didn’t go off - thank you to the makers of this awesome life saving device!

With the recent sad news of kids perishing on holiday due to carbon monoxide, I decided to buy a portable sensor. It is a nice size so quite discrete and knowing the name Kidde, I trust that it will be effective.I'm keeping it near our ancient boiler, and will take it away this year when we go on holiday to rented accommodation - you can't smell Carbon Monoxide, so this seems a sensible idea to me. I would recommend this

Brought this as recommended by gas man as our flue Is In a ceilling void. It is very easy to set up. Simple Instructions. I think it's well worth the money for piece of mind. The alarm does have to be replaced after 10 years, you write the date at the bottom. Good duracell batteries included. From what I can hear from the set up the alarm is very loud which obviously is good incase it ever did go off.

I bought this about six months ago just as precaution as I had been thinking better safe than sorry. Bought two more for my daughters for their homes too. During some recent high winds the cover on my central heating boiler became loose, not enough to notice, but enough for the alarm to work. If I hadn't bought this I shudder to think what the consequences could have been. Don't think about - do it!

propmt delivery, good looking product, but as I'm disabled i haven't opened the alarm as i need someone to put it up for me. the only slite niggle i have with the product is on the webpage it says the alarm lasts 10 years, i thought that meant the batteries, but they don't, its supplied with 3 durracell batteries & says they will need replacing & the alarm chucking away after 10 years.

Great product but the HETAS people wouldn't sign off my stove until they sold me one which had a sealed battery unit. Apparently people hear the alarm and remove the batteries rather than doing anything about the poisonous gas in their house! This one now sits at the bottom of my stairs as extra protection and I'm taking it with us next time we go in the motorhome!
