This Fireangel CO-9X Carbon Monoxide Alarm is designed to operate for 7 years on its sealed battery at the end of which it will need to be replaced. The unit which measures 16.2 x 13.6 x 4.4 cm comes well presented in a clear plastic pack and, apart from the alarm, you get wall mounting hardware and an instruction leaflet which is clearly written and contains information on locating the alarm and how to test it. The unit also features a pull out stand so it can either stand on a surface or be wall mounted. The front of the device is dominated by a test/silence button plus there are three LEDs for power, fault and alarm. It's worth giving a bit of thought to the optimum placement of the device as suggested in the instructions.Fire Angel provide UK based support and there are alternative models with a 10 year battery life or a digital display. This unit complies with EU and UK standards and its build, presentation and operation inspire confidence. Recommended.

I bought this to complement an existing FireAngel CO detector of the same model that I installed on my landing in 2010. The new one is mounted on the wall opposite my gas boiler about 2 meters away and >150mm below the ceiling as recommended in the very comprehensive instructions. It is worth taking time to read the instructions regarding the correct location for the detector. The unit is compact, there are no batteries to change and there is a large easy to operate test button. As is typical of these devices the electrochemical sensor has a defined life - in this case 7 years so the whole unit needs to be replaced after that time. The photo shows a wall mount plate that was not supplied in my pack - it's not needed but would make installation slightly easier, particularly in ensuring the detector is not lop-sided in cases where a brick wall has to be drilled for the two rawlplugs, otherwise no issues at all.

Have a gas fire but never been serviced - on asking for this I was told they would have to disconnect the fire from the mains due to "lack of ventilation" - basically saying you need a hole in your wall to the outside if you want a gas fire! Crazy. So this is instead as an early warning. Also much cheaper than a gas fire service (not a recommended way forward by the way, just my opinion). So, Although the battery is fixed inside the product with a 7-year life, you can re-insert the batter contact break that it came with to save the battery when not in use - hence extending the life of the product beyond the rated 7 years, is my thought.I spent a good while deliberating between this and other very similar products, but the "no need to keep replacing batteries" and no maintenance factors appealed to me.So, recommended (1 month into ownership).

Fitted in our Piper Cherokee light aircraft so every confidence in this product!! Test every time by brief press of the large white button..do not hold down as then goes into a test mode for several minutes. |No worries if you do, it reverts back automatically after 3 minutes]..7 year fixed battery life we are told, so shall see, only fitted last month, so far so good. When you fit and activate by removing a small lanyard it then times down from 7 years, [again not yet tested this duration!]...Ideal also for campervan/caravan use and holiday lets etc, Rented property etc home and abroad legally have to have CO detector fitted but take one for peace of mind.. CO annually kills quite a few people still,so forget your silly covid masks and buy something useful!..

Time will tell how long the battery lasts - I will update this review if I don't get my seven years worth! The one this replaces was the same model, and that lasted beyond its seven years - it's still running now, but I thought it wise to replace it every seven years anyway. This has a sufficiently loud alarm, which is easy to test, and the periodic "battery OK" flash is bright enough to see, without being too bright so as to be distracting. The unit comes with fixing screws, or can be used free standing (but make sure you read the instructions about where to locate it). The fixing bracket on the back of this one is the same as on the version we purchased seven years ago,so we were able to use the screws that we had already put in the wall.

This seemed like just the thing for our son's bedroom, having become more aware of the potential danger from Carbon Monixide poisoning recently, and following advice to my own mother to have one in the house! It's compact and easy to understand, and sits at breathing level near his bed - as per the instructions. There are a lot of instructions about where it should go, but with the option of standing on a surface it makes it even easier to manage - no necessity for screwing into a wall or ceiling. It flashes infrequently, so it doesn't get noticed unless you're looking for it to check it's working.Haven't tried the monthly recommended test yet which requires something like a jostik to be used to test it's sensitivity.

I am not sure what prompted me to buy a carbon monoxide alarm but did so and bought this based on the good reviews and lack of comment on false alarms. I was therefore surprised when it went off after having it for a week. I was sure it was faulty and Fireangel replaced it immediately without any problem. However the new one also went off after about a week - it turns out we have a faulty boiler!!! I cannot recommend highly enough to anyone to buy a CO detector. This model does the job, but I would recommend the Fireangel with the digitial monitor as when this model's alarm goes off you do not know how dangerous the levels are.

The only beef I have against this otherwise easy-to-use and potentially life-saving device is that the manufacturers (like so many others) expect everyone to be able to drill mounting holes into any wall with pinpoint accuracy. It those small round holes in the back, which in theory are wide enough (just!) to fit over the screw heads and slide down to fix. To be fair, no designer anywhere has ever actually done this themselves, so we all end up cursing them.Once located and forced onto the screws (which are under half a millimetre out!) all is fine.

If you have a gas fire or an open fire in your living room then one of these is a legal requirement.WHY ~ Carbon Monoxide is an invisible killerYou can't see it and you can't smell itThis little lifesaver can detect it and warn you and SAVE YOUR LIFEAt full price it's a total bargain and with PRIME DAY money off deal its even better. If you have a gas, oil, coal, wood burning boiler you need one of these near it to protect from Carbon MonoxideIf these were 10 times the price they would still be a bargain ~ THEY SAVE LIVES

I agree with the previous review - the re-labelling of the Power, Fault and Alarm LED indicators with cryptic symbols is a step backward in terms of product design. However this is shown in the product description. This device produces a loud alarm when it detects prolonged or dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. It would leave the user in no doubt there is danger and to take action.I have another, more expensive, CO detector with a LCD readout which shows current and highest levels of carbon monoxide.

Having a baby makes you much more concerned with safety so when I was 6 months pregnant my husband decided to buy the carbon monoxide alarm. I'm very pleased we now have this alarm in our house as there's one less thing to be concerned about and I know that we've done all we could to protect our family. The Fireangel alarm was easy to fit and test. Great to see that batteries were included and I hope we'll never actually make use of the alarm but it's definitely a good buy!

Not the cheapest on the market but recommended by fire service and we have had one already for a couple of years. The one I received was faulty - leaking battery- but Amazon replaced very quickly without a problem. You can just start it and forget it or there is a pin you can insert in the summer to turn it off if you have no appliances running. We have ours for wood burning stoves so this is what we do - it extends the battery life considerably.r

Was looking for a carbon monoxide alarm to install near a gas boiler and picke this one as it seems to be a popular one from a reliable brand. Easy to install (just 2 screw's to wall mount). The alarm could be louder in my opinion but it's not overly quiet either. Simple led indications and symbols make it easy to use. Can't comment on the battery life. Will have to wait 7 years to see if the built-in battery lasts for the claimed amount of time.

At work Friday, our Health & Safety advised us to buy a Carbon Monoxide detector. I often thought about it, never did anything. However, i ordered this that day, (Friday) and it was delivered today Sunday. Read the instructions, pulled the little tag and tested. Put the detector in my kitchen and that was that. BTW, I''ve ordered another one for my Mum. She's 91 next month and I will feel a lot happier knowing Mum has a detector in her home.

I bought this alarm when I had to have my gas boiler replaced. It seemed to be a reasonable thing to do to ensure that my family are protected against carbon monoxide, and was a small cost in the overall package of a boiler replacement. The device arrived very quickly, is very neat and all the self test functions work just as they should.I have not yet got around to trying the device with a smoldering piece of wood so I imagine it works!
