Purchased this as there wasn't any carbon monoxide alarm in the property i'm in and felt anxious not having one.I bought the honewell based on brand. I believe the likes of British Gas use this brand not only that there are so many fake and cheap ones on the market it really isn't worth the risk of buying some cheap junk from china. It has a 10 year life and 10 year warranty so split the cost you paid, i paid £29.88, divided over 10 years that costs a mere £2.98 per year or 28 pence per month or 7 pence per week to potentially save you and your families life, So please don't buy those cheap china ones because the reality is this Honeywell XC100D is cheap when you consider the 10 year life and 10 year warranty you get, something you won't get with those cheap china ones that are prone to fail but most also do not conform to British standards. You cannot put a price on a life so price doesn't come into it for me.Onto the device itself, was a little overwhelming to begin with (the instructions that is) but after reading a few times i understood it much better. It's quite high tech compared to others on the market. It flashes the word EVACUATE in red and very bright on testing and the alarm is plenty loud enough to hear, i assume the flashing could also be useful if a person is deaf. It has a replacement date sticker on the side so you know when to replace in 10 years time, this also allows you to ensure when you get yours that it has 10 years of life on it buy checking the expiry date on sticker. I guess you never know if it really works unless you buy the spray you can get to test these devices but i've not done that on the basis i heard it can lower the life span of the sensor. Although i'm sure one quick test wouldn't harm the sensor.A few months after owning however i was getting a beeping i think it was every 60 seconds and an error on the display, i phoned Honeywell and they said it was the battery, they seemed surprised that after just a few months the battery was failing but without any quibbles they sent a replacement device in the post. It did knock my confidence in the product to begin with but reality is no matter how much one spends there's always going to be a few that may have dodgy a battery, sensor or something of that nature. That applies to anything to be fair. I received the new one and can say i've no issues with the replacement.I would recommend this product on the basis that yes this does cost double the price than most others on the market but with a 10 year life and 10 year guarantee something you will not get with those cheaper ones it more than pays for itself and the potential to save your life makes it a no brainer purchase.

I spent hours reading reviews and researching into CO alarms and eventually decided on this one as I had heard of Honeywell before, despite it having only one review. It is twice as expensive as most others but it has a sealed battery and has a replacement date of Dec 2025 printed on the side so with it's estimated 10 year life span and warranty I know I have not got one that has been sitting on the shelf for a long time. It is neat and compact and has an impressive array of lights and and a big written in red ALARM - EVACUATE notice which lights up in test mode but is not obvious until you carry out the test procedure. This is going to make it really noticeable if there is a CO problem.Like other reviewers say, we will never know whether alarms actually work or not until they are needed - hopefully ours never will be! Just a little tip - write the serial number down on the guarantee card before you clip the back on which turns the alarm on as the back is quite difficult to get off again once it has been fitted. The guarantee card is tiny and I don't usually both with them but as this has a 10 year warranty I have filled it in and will post it in an envelope as it is too small to go in the post as it is, despite them helpfully putting the address on the back together with a square to show where the stamp should go!

I bought this product because of my previous good experience with Honeywell central heating controls. Honeywell are in my opinion a good brand name and have an excellent reputation for supplying good quality and reliable domestic and industrial equipment. The XC100D Carbon Monoxide Detector is a well made and neat device and well up to the usual standards I have come to expect. Highly Recommended! The installation and set up instructions are clear and so getting the unit up and running was easy. Remember to write down the serial number before you clip the back on, as this saves the aggravation of trying to get it off again (for warranty registration)as it's a bit tight to remove. The operation of the multi-functional digital display needs some understanding. The display normally remains blank until CO levels are detected which trigger the alarm or a unit fault is indicated. This seems a bit odd as you would expect non alarm CO levels detected to be displayed and that no CO levels would be shown as a zero reading. The unit can be set to show low levels of CO below the alarm value but this function can only be set during the initial set up. The test button when pressed for about 18 seconds can be used to activate the display but this feature is active for only about an hour.

I suggest that you do not purchase this excellent product from Unvented Components. They sent the wrong item and I have been trying to return it for over a week. In fact they didn't send the item, it came with a packing slip from Plumb Center on their Unvented Components account. So I ordered the item from Amazon, it was then passed to Unvented Components, who then passed it on to Plumb Center who then sent the wrong one.Following my return request to Amazon, I purchased the same item more cheaply from ebay, it arrived the next day and I have installed it. After chasing the seller yet again about the return, the gave me the choice of having it exchanged or returned and no means of replying to their request! On the other hand, the Honeywell XC100D Carbon Monoxide Alarm is very well designed and, as a retired electronics design engineer, I can say that it appears to be an extremely well conceived and designed product with good documentation and a wide range of features. I particularly like the clever system that switches it on automatically as soon as it is slid onto the wall mounting plate. I would certainly recommend it.

Not the cheapest alarm on the market but looks well made and easy to fix on the wall. All the checks worked exactly as the manual said and I ran a one hour sample check which gives a low level reading on the display. At the end of the test, the display showed zero level so I was happy with the result. Of course, you can't tell if the meter is faulty without cross-checking with another device but as everything worked according to the manual I was willing to trust it.A light flashes every few minutes to show it is working and you are advised to test it regularly as with any alarm. The alarm has a finite life of ten years after which time it warns you that it's reached it's limit. Some cheaper alarms have a much shorter life so you need to check this before buying. Also check the manufacturing date on the Honeywell to make sure that it's not old stock.I was very satisfied with the device and felt it was worth the money.

5 stars for the product which is excellent and a very useful tip from another reviewer to note the serial number before fixing on the back plate or you cannot send in the guarantee. My previous honeywell alarm did last 10.5 years so decided to stick with that make and update. Well worth the extra to get the displays and there is a useful monthly test facility for reasssurance. It even comes with a nail to put in the wall.10year guarantee expires march 2026 so well within time.Less impressed with seller First product despatched went into the ether and with no tracking couldnt see status. So after 3 expected delivery days contacted seller who did respond quickly.Replacement product despatched on 24 hour delivery and arrived 1 hour before tracking information from seller this time. .

I believe this will be a good product because I have great confidence that it will live up to its claim. It is solidly built compared to the equivalent. The features are what I expect. No gimmicks. The red display when the alarm comes on shows clearly what one needs to do.The end of life reminder is a good feature to tell us that we need to replace the unit in order not to compromise on continuing to provide the level of protection. The price is cheaper than other sellers - about £6.Because I have three levels, I shall be buying two more to replace two older alarms. The seller kept me fully updated and was delivered via UPS on the first targeted day.

.. and forget. We had a mixed fuel stove fitted a few months ago hence fitting this detector. Difficult to prove if it's doing anything as it hasn't done anything except flash occasionally... maybe that's all it does??Yes, I'll get around to testing it soon, trouble is the fitting recommendation is just out of reach unless I stand on a chair or some steps and there's never anything immediately handy when I think of testing it... like now grrrr.Battery life is yet to be discovered, I'll return in ten years.. or was it 7.. or if it stops working early. If I remember. It does feel more comfortable having it fitted though.

Small neat unit that fits simply on the wall.Very clear setup instructions included and it has a very loud alarm, the unit contains a non replaceable 10 year life battery so it is fit and not quite forget as you need to press the test button monthly to ensure all is OK.Fortunately this has not gone off and hopefully never will! But I am sure that should it be needed we will receive a warning well before there is any chance of problems. The only thing not clear from the pictures you see is that in normal operation the screen is blank.

It's a bit pricey, and it's far from stylish, but the Honeywell CO alarm is a neat bit of kit. The ten-year battery life and guarantee is the main selling point, but its other features are good too. The alarm is loud, and accompanied by a clear red text display. I was also pleased to see I could set it to monitor continuously, and later upload the data to an app on my phone. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether it was worth the extra for the LCD version, since the display shows nothing in normal use.

Having had a cheaper one in my kitchen that stopped working exactly 5 years from purchase( at the time I was unaware that they had to be replaced at this time) but knowing Honeywell makes good quality products I am glad I purchased this as one does not have to be replaced for 10 years without having to worry if the batteries need replacing, as they have them built in that alone is a real safety issue alone I am pleased about,The compactness and the testing facility is practical too.

Nice looking, compact unit - can only assume its working correctly as it's not alarmed yet! Having had a situation a few years ago where a similar carbon monoxide alarm did go off in the early hours one morning and to later be told by boiler engineer who responded that if we hadn't had an alarm and evacuated the house due to it, the whole family would probably have been dead by normal waking up time, I cannot recommend the need to have these alarms in your home.

Replaced my old builder installed Honeywell monitor with this after it's 5 year expiry date. It was still working. Bought the one with the readout as at the time it was the same price. Note the readout is not constant but only happens if there is a carbon monoxide issue. I am pleased and it is working as tested - suppose you will only really know if there was a genuine problem and I hope that doesn't happen.

At a price around £30 much what I paid British Gas for the lower spec 7 year model a great deal. Can be set up to provide various alerts has a display which measures CO concentrations and some interactive functions. Previous model just sat quiet with 2 unexpected and never explained alarms. Until end of life when it chirped 3 times every minute for over a month until I found a way to shut it up.

Got this to replace an old CO monitor from British Gas. Very pleased with the quality of the product and the effective use by date stated as full 10 years use. First job is to fill out the guarantee reg. form and enter the serial number as other reviewers have commented. It's easy to mount and user instructions are very clear, very reassuring to have this monitor as an obvious 'life saver'.
