Just bought this alarm to replace my Kidde Alarm. I have purchased the Kidde alarm on two occasions now but these only last for 2 years. I am hoping to get longer out of this one. I bought the Kidde alarm the second time around as I did not want to have to drill more holes into the wall but I need not have worried. This alarms mounting plate is excellent as it has various different positions for he screws therefore the previous holes drilled fitted the new plate no more drilling, even though this plate was smaller than the Kidde one. Really Happy with this my only hope now is that it lasts longer than 2 years.

We have had this alarm previously and it seemed to last well (over 6 years, when initially guaranteed for 5yrs).We have recently had to replace it. We replaced it with the same model. It now comes with a 7 year guaranteed/As far as I can tell from basic testing it seems to work as expected, compared with another different device. Although I have not had a fire of carbon monoxide leak. So not fully tested, thankfully.With this recent purchase we received an alarm that had a replacement date only 5yrs 9months away. Obviously old stock as it should have had a replacement date of about 7yrs.I did contact the supplier and to be fair they are arranging for a pro rata refund for the missing period.

Believe me, you don't want to be a statistic. I needed to make sure that was a list I never had my or my families names on.This unit was to replace an identical unit I'd purchased years ago, fitted and just tested once a week. Around 7 years after purchasing the original unit, three beeps to alert me it needed replacing. Quick search and super, they still make them, got a new one, didn't even have to remove the mounting plate as it's a identical unit.Come back in 7 years and I'll replace it again, one thing I'm sure off, is I can sleep soundly knowing I've got the clan safe. Don't take any risks with safety in the home. Get one, fit it up, forget about it.

As for working it appears to have served well over the 5 years we've had this alarm although (fortunately) it never had a reason to go off. The only 'life' from it was the chirp for a battery change. It's very loud which is a good thing unless you press the test button without something in your ears! My -1 star is that it's seems to have stopped functioning within a couple of months of the 5 year warranty expiring. Good in a sense - it lasted. The cynic in me thinks OK, but why would it start going off at almost exactly the same hour in the middle of the night? Not sure if that is an inherent safety system or some smart programming to get me buying it again.

I bought another one of these to replace the same one that's been installed for 7 years, as I was so pleased with it. The seller Safelincs are a brilliant company to deal with: I had a query and they got back to me the same day. I was really pleased with the price as well. Ignore the silly reviews about cooker hobs being left on. This is a really good product; and I would definitely buy off this company again without any hesitation. Before I forget, when the unit comes to the end of its working life it will start beeping to tell you it is time to replace it. What more could you ask for. If you want peace of mind then buy one of these.

This is the second one of these I have bought. The first one is still going strong after 3 years. No false alarms at all since installing these.They are very easy to fit. You just use the 2 screws and plugs provided to screw the mounting plate to the ceiling and then twist on the device itself to seat it. Also very easy to remove to change batteries or decorate etc.These are much better than the old style ones that used to come with a unique battery pack that used to cost a fortune. These just use 2 AA and these are supplied.I believe every home should have at least one.

This alarm was a doddle to install - drill two holes in the ceiling and fit the bracket with the supplied screws and a couple of wall plugs. The alarm then just slots into the bracket and can be removed for decorating, changing the batteries etc in a few seconds. I've tested my alarm every few months (including once inadvertantly with some burnt toast!) and it works perfectly. It is very loud and there is no question about sleeping through it if it goes off in the night. It gives real piece of mind to know it is there.

This is the second alarm we’ve purchased by this company. The original started to beep one evening which signalled it was time to replace. We ordered the alarm and it arrived within 48 hours with batteries already installed. Took my husband less than 10 minutes to screw to its position in the hallway. When you install it and test it as instructed, it will go through all the high pitched beeps associated with the alarm. It’s a first class product which gives us great confidence in our safety.

I have been decorating the room which has our gas boiler, and decided it was time to replace the old smoke alarm with a combi alarm for carbon monoxide too. This one is perfect. It is neat. It uses AA batteries (easy) and the batteries fit into a sliding drawer which make replacement easy too. The alarm itself fits onto a base, which is installed (usually onto the ceiling) first, which also makes lfe easy.So everything is easy!The price might put some people off, hence not 5 stars.

There are many of these on the market and they all look pretty similar. However, I chose this one as a replacement for a previous one as the LED status light, which flashes every now and again to tell you its working is unobtrusive.I know this sounds like a rather odd reason for buying it, but the previous one installed had a particularly bright flashing light. It's in the hallway, and at night it was really annoying, much too bright. This one's much better with a more subtle light!

I installed the unit as prescribed on the packaging but a British Gas engineer told me it was in the wrong place, to close to the source. So having done more research I have found that he was wrong so First Alert were right. Marvellous.We test regularly and the batteries have lasted a year so far. It's a relatively small unit considering it is dual function so saves on installing 2 separate alarms. Value for money, if it keeps us safe, then absolutely.

I originally bought this item from Amazon three years ago. Recently it developed a fault in that it chirped every couple of minutes to indicate that battery levels were low. Replacing the batteries did not cure the problem. As the item had a five year warranty I e-mailed Amazon. Amazon sent me a new unit within 24 hours which is working fine. I have given this 5 stars mainly because or the Amazon response which could not have been better

This is the second one of these I have brought. No issue, just expired. They do have a limited lifespan but considering the peace of mind it offers detecting both smoke and carbon monoxide it's a small price to pay. Easy to install and extremely loud alarms. Two alarm sounds, one for each danger. No false alarms through cooking in the kitchen off the hallway this alarm is installed.A lot to be said for buying the same item twice.

I have had this brand of smoke/CO2 alarm before and been thoroughly satisfied with it's performance. When my old alarm reached the end of it's life exptanancy it let me know it was time to replace it which was really useful. I therefore specifically searched for the same brand of àlarm and was really pleased to find it and at such a competitive price.

Good to have a combo rather than separate units; less of an eyesore. Works well I suppose but that's just from running tests, hopefully it will work just as well if we're unfortunate to have the real thing. It says it will last 7 years and is also guaranteed for 7 years (despite what the description/details are on Amazon) so that's a real bonus.
