Just £21 and allows lowering of alarming level to what they call pre-detection, giving earlier warning of a possible safety issue. The 4 light system gives a combination flash of blue/green at switch on if you have set low level, and just green if at normal regulation level. The one second push button alarm test function defaults to a lower volume, but can be tested at full 85dB by holding for 10 seconds.Switch on is accomplished by slide-mounting it onto its back plate, which can be wall mounted beforehand, or free standing. De-mounting, thereby also switching off, is by sliding left while depressing a tamperproof locating tab from top right of the unit - it requires a very small screwdriver or similar.A bit awkward to separate again, so have a good look at the mechanism before sliding it together.Comes with comprehensive installation/instruction sheet. There is a 7 year battery life on this model and 10 years on the 100 and 100D models, which also both have big alarm textual message to which the D model adds an lcd information display about rising CO levels and recorded peak levels etc. All models have loggers which include detailed recording of previous week, and weekly maximums over the whole life - professionally downloadable according to the leaflet. All models can be wirelessly connected up by optional plug in module, to sound in all monitored areas when one unit senses alarm condition - not many seen and do cost more than this unit!

I owned a Honeywell Carbon Monoxide detector before and only changed it as the battery expired. The XC70 is great but like many reviews here, I agree that the instructions are not that clear and I, too, thought that the unit wasn't working. After hearing all all the right bleeps and seeing the lights flash in the correct order - the green light didn't appear to flash. As a last resort, I cupped my hands around the top left off the unit and, as the instructions stated, the green light is flashing but it is hardly, if at all noticeable, to the eye in ordinary light. As it is only an indicator of the battery rather than an alarm, it makes sense to keep it subdued - but during set up it is a bit of a pain.I hope this helps anyone who may think the unit is unserviceable when it may just be the need to look very closely for it.

Excellent product at a reasonable price, but I really think that the manufacturers need to streamline the user instructions. They are often too technical too early on the sheet, when the consumer needs clear instructions at the very top re. how to switch on the device (NB. you need to attach it to the wall plate provided to activate it) and how to perform a simple test. Instead, there's some prominent tables and switch on is not covered till Section 11. There's also some baffling stuff about 'pre-alarm function'. My old Honeywell SF352EN was easier to get to grips with. This is still well worth investing in though, and has a 7 year warranty.

Arrived promptly via Royal Mail and well packaged. My last CO detector was a Honeywell, again with a 7 year battery. I tried a different make when this one expired but it was faulty and kept beeping (changed batteries, and also tried another detector to confirm there was no CO even though the alarm wasn't going off). This one is much better, hangs either on a single picture nail or on two screws, and looks neat on the wall. There's a test cycle which is advisable to do monthly to check it's working properly and the unit is also guaranteed for 7 years. Will definitely buy again when I need another.

Bought for my camper.. I recalled the previous sensor had started beeping. As unit was 2 years old, I bought the two Honeywell's for resilience. Had reason to sleep in the van 2 nights ago and all 3 sensors went off roughly 15 minutes after igniting the calor gas Fridge.I wouldn't be daft enough to have one or less sensors anyway with gas appliances and could not be writing this now as I would most likely have never woken up - you could say I owe my life to these devices. The design is good as you can't lazily remove the batteries and go back to sleep. Oh, and Thank you Honeywell!

Difficult to rate a Carbon monoxide detector as 5 star (I love it) but this one seem admirably suited for its use in a domestic setting. Easy to install, good value compared with alternatives and has a seven year life. Apart from warning if carbon monoxide has reached a dangerous level, it has an early warning setting which will alarm if CO levels start to rise. It also has a small indicator light which flashes on every minute to show that the battery is OK and it is functioning properly. As it is battery powered, it would also be perfect for use in a camper van or caravan.

Brought as a replacement for one supplied by British Gas that had reached the end of it's life. This unit has a longer battery life (7 years) and took two minutes to put the back cover on (which connects the battery) and mount on the same wall pin vacated by the old unit (however a new wall pin is also included). One of those products that you should have but hope you never need. I did see in the instruction leaflet that there are some higher spec models that display the amount of carbon monoxide particles, but would imagine the battery life on those might not be as good

We ordered this Honeywell carbon monoxide detector/alarm as our old Honeywell alarm had gone out of date (brought to our attention by the gas engineer who was servicing our boiler at the time!). It arrived promptly and well packaged. My husband had no trouble setting it up (took a few minutes), and it sits on the wall in the hallway on a fixing where the old one sat! A tiny light flashes every so often to let you know it's working, and its presence is reassuring. Very pleased - would recommend this product. The price was good too!

The 2 units purchased replaced the date expired H450EN units that I understand are no longer manufactured. The XC70 units are activated by putting the back plate on, and if no function is activated by pressing the single button they work just like the H450EN units as straight alarms without any low level warning. This is just what we required but the units can be made to give a warning of low level exposure. Units arrived well packed and early.

A quality product. I had one from British Gas (by Honeywell) and wanted the same make because it detected CO2 from our gas fire while we were in the room. Extremely and correctly loud when it went off. Point to note : when you press the test button on this model the alarm doesn't sound very loud. This is deliberate. To test at the full volume of a real warning you have to hold the test button down for at leat 10 seconds - then stand back!

Theses are installed by all the major players, such as councils, housing associations and energy suppliers. They are the same detector installed by British Gas. Being made by Honeywell they are top quality. Honey are the top manufacturer of central heating controls. You simply cant go wrong by installing this detector. I my self have install hundreds of these with never one problem or failure.

The old one was chirruping ... battery failing.Time to replace it! Really ? But I replaced it like 2 years ago ... oh no wait, I wrote the date on the back ... ah, 7 years ago, well yes time to replace it.So I did with this one.Job done for another 7 years or so.Great price too and next day prime delivery. Can't fault it really.

My heating engineer initially fitted one of these in my home as they recommended this particular one. I think it lasted about 3 years before expiring. I purchased this as a replacement due to the other one expiring. It just hangs to a screw/nail and flashes periodically to show it’s working. Thankfully the alarm has never gone off.

I have had the previous design before which was supplied by British Gas. Buying direct from Amazon was much cheaper. This is an essential product that you can't really do a review of because you just take it out of the box, activate it and then put it on the wall where the old one was. A life saver though at a good price.

This seems ok but to be fair I have only had it a few months but it’s a lot better than the other make I had that only lasted 6months instead of 7 years so this little device has already reached that and it is still fine fingers crossed .Easy to install hopefully long battery life but so far good value
